Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence

***Edit 6/22/25*** Yeah after only a couple weeks and after letting this "Maturate" during that time its actually improved and I like it EVEN MORE than I did originally. The "Tart, fruity-sweetness that accompanies the Earthyness is even more pronounced now making this even more wearable and interesting. This is one of those ultra unique fragrances that are really devisive and will probably soon be discontinued, THEN the price will Sky-Rocket bc NOTHING else smells like it. Im SERIOUSLY considering getting a back- up bottle before that happens even though I already own too many fragrances.. thats how much Im diggin' Bvlgari Terrae Essence. I now consider this a 9.5 outta 10 for its great smell, uniqueness and excellent performance! Im really consideting making this my signature and "Gate-Keeping it bc its so unique and pleasant (To my nose) GREAT STUFF!! ---------------------------------------- I guess that I dont understand why there are so many naysayers when it come to Bvlgari Terrae Essence.. I personally LOVE the way this fragrance smells, plus NOT EVERYTHING needs to smell like a Citrus-Bomb, be a "Blue" or a Gourmand for.it to be enjoyable! Anyways, Terrae Essence starts off somewhat citrusy, semi-sweet, woody, a tad floral and then in the mid it starts transitioning into a darker, more earthy affair. Then in the dry-down that Earthy/smokey type of Vetiver starts to shine. And YES! There's a slight "plasticky/waxy nuance" which I find actually adds to the experience. Its by no means a "Chemical plasitc" smell, or a rubbery smell like Initio's Oud for Greatness. Its actually a very pleasant, sorta "fresh" slight plastic smell that I really, REALLY enjoy in this composition. Also, the furniture/decore store Ikea has these signature Red-Stortskon Berry scented candles which I just LOVE the smell of, and the opening of this fragrance TOTALLY reminds me of those candles which is probably why im getting that slight plastic/waxy thing going?.. IDK, but does anyone else know what I'm talking bout?? And this bottle is freakin' BEAUTIFUL! The glass looks and feels of very high quality and just looks freaking great! Anyways, I suppose that Terrae Essence is for a more mature crowd, yet it's NOT a stuffy "Old Man" smell, or even a "Classic dna". Its super modern, earthy, VEEERY unique and sophisticated. What most reviews here aren't mentioning is this tart/sweetness that stays for most of the wear accompanying the Earthyness and smells freakin' GREAT, so its NOT all doom, gloom and DIRT like alot of folks here are claiming! It has very good performance and I consider it a total BANGER! I give this super unique GEM of a scent an 8.5 outta 10. Im just really diggin' this Bvlgari offering and highly recommend it ESPECIALLY to my fellow Vetver lovers! This is proof that NOT all Vetiver forward fragrances smell alike.

Over the years, I've always had certain fragrances that overwhelm me to the point, where I just want to sit in a room with a couple of sprays on each forearm and on each wrist, and just exist in the scent bubble. Close my eyes and get lost in the imagery of the fragrance notes. Give myself time to truly experience the fragrance in its entirety. Opening to skin scent. What did I experience, when I did so with Terrae Essence? Imagine being in a desert, somewhere like New Mexico. On your travels, you come across some citron and calamansi randomly growing there. You go ahead and pick a couple. You dig your fingernails into the citron to open it up. You're enveloped in this earthy/rindy combination, that's being emulsified with the dense juice oozing from the citron. The hint of tartness from the rind really gives it some additional depth. On the dry down, the iris finally starts making its appearance that feels like a sunset fading into the night. Remnants of the citric/earthy residue still remain lingering on your fingers, as you recall your day. Signaling you're coming to the end of the journey. It's a beautiful experience. Very vibrant colors everywhere, yet nothing seems too overwhelming. In which exhibits the delicate balance to the composition. Alberto Morillas sincerely understands how to do things right. Daring and sophisticated. Bravo. Longevity: around the 7-9 hours. Given the type of fragrance it is, I would say that's what makes it more perceptible throughout the wearing. Occasions: I wear it like liquid courage. When I need that extra push of digging in deep, this is right there for me. Like a pat in the back from a friend, motivating you to keep pushing. Whatever time of the year you can use a boost, give this one a shot. I don't have a scale system, wear what you want when you want to experience it.

Alberto Morillas did it again as I expected but to tell the truth, when this came out, I didn't know it was by him. I tested many times at the store and I had to make sure I liked it on my skin because the last two of wood collections (wood neroli and wood essence) didn't work on my skin unfortunately. On the other hand, this one captivated me so much and I did wanted to have it for a while. I was looking for a good deal but forgot about it until I found a gift set with 100 ml + 15ml for CAN$80 at Winners yesterday (Nov 8, 2023) so I was so fortunate to scoop it up and today, I did the full wear experience. Right from the get go, love the uplifting bitter sweet citrus opening (although my alley is more dark, sweet, gourmand, woody, spicy type) and a tad of sweet earthy element but to me it's rather a woody accord and no earth/dirt is found in this fragrance if anyone is wondering about that by looking at the pic of the notes. It was projecting strong for a few hours and got a bit closer but the sillage, the nice scent bubble is all around me very nice and healthy. I don't even have to sniff on my arms but it keeps coming up and around my chest and my neck. Even around 8 to 9 hours in, I can still get a nice healthy whiff of same greenish citrus and woody accord still projecting off my body. But here's the thing, I always spray 20 to 30 sprays (correct numbers LOL) and spray close to the skin till it gets wet all around my neck, chest and both arms so that's the trick for me to make it last on me especially citrus based fragrances. I didn't even have to refresh once. This is very elegant, masculine and classy yet modern gentleman fragrance, great quality and definitely one of the best ones from BVLGARi Men line after Men In Black line.

I tried this 4 times before coming to my conclusions. The opening is very good and quite niche level. But that’s where the good ends for my nose. The full drydown reminds me of a cigarette butt that someone just smashed into a wet ashtray... it’s too dusty for my taste.. I wanted to love this I really did but being an EX smoker I couldn’t stand smelling like an ashtray again. So the purchase could not be made. Next I will try TDH Intense Vetiver seeing how it’s similar to this. But I’m hoping the drydown isn’t as dusty/ashy. Opening 8.5/10: full drydown 3/10 Total 🟰 6.5/10. Edit: Okay so about 5 months have passed since I wrote that review. I must say I got a decant to try this again after my nose matured some & I started enjoying deeper earthy/Smokey scents. I now really love this fragrance! The opening is gorgeous and the drydown is super deep, earthy, manly leather like. I bought a fb! Score changing to a 9/10! This goes to show how our tastes can change over time and we should continue to try things again later on even if it’s not for you the first couple times. Yes I probably wouldn’t wear this frag to work but I have stuff more like Hermes intense vetiver that is more mass pleasing for that. But this just hits the spot when relaxing at home. This should be used more like a niche fragrance. Give it time it’s worth it & will be very rewarding! 9/10 Edit 2: So 4 more months have passed since my last edit. This fragrance has become my number one release of the year I now see this as a 9.5 to 10 out of 10 masterpiece fragrance. I bought a back up bottle because I fear discontinuation because this was not very hyped. Try it while you can!

I find Terrae Essence Beautiful. It's probably not going to be a popular opinion and if you ask me to me dissect the notes and explain exactly which notes are great etc, I could not really pin point it as such. So rather than do a note by note review, I'll go in a different direction. I have a Swiss friend named Klaus who is retired here in India and has a beautiful House with a huge backyard that's filled with all kinds of citrus trees n herbs growing over. A lot of oranges, lemon and lime and the Indian variety grapefruit we call Moosambi. Sometimes, mostly on Sundays I stop by while he's working in the garden to just hang out and chat while he's pottering around in the mud and since He's a classical musician by trade, there's always Chopin or Bach playing in the background. The smell of freshly plucked oranges and orange peel resin on your hands, wet mud, mulch, water from the irrigation drips, drinking lemonade, My Dogs chasing squirrels and hanging out with my friend on a sunny day. All of this is what Bvlgari terrae Essence reminds me of, a peaceful day spent with organic things and somehow feeling myself reconnecting with the earth. PS. Not a safe blind buy fragrance but dont let some of the comments fool you, it's not a scary one either by any stretch ( It's a Mainstream Bvlgari release, How Risky do you think it's going to be?) But longevity and projection are good so if you're looking for something citrus oriented that's a bit earthy and not TDH and a bit off the beaten path, do check it out. I really love it.

2021 batch Profile - Mature smelling with heavy vetiver and orris. Description - Received as a 5ml complimentary. Love the bottle colour and the design of the bigger sizes. The colour kind of suits the scent perfectly. You get a sense of understanding of the smell by just looking at the colours. Opens with moderate dose of citrus and instantly the orris and vetiver notes take the centre stage. Almost a linear scent IMO, with slight earthy feel in the base. This scent started to give me a headache. I believe its the sharp vetiver and orris notes which stay throughout the scents life.I have stopped using it and wouldn't repurchase. I wanted to love the fragrance as it is fairly unique and bvlgari is one of my favourite houses. Usage & longevity - Kind of all year. . 3-4 sprays should do good and should last you around 6-8 hours, and longer on the clothes. I suggest to avoid the neck due to the strength of the juice as it might choke you Suited for - 30 and above. Smells up class so suits most dress occasions. Reminds me of - major vetiver heavy fragrances with a hint of sweetness but is unique in its own way. Rating - 6/10, I wish my nose worked well with the notes in this. Update - I can say the maceration has done wonders to this juice. It now opens much more smoother and softer as compared to when it was new out of the box. The harshness has disappeared and something about this draws me and makes me want to smell it constantly. 9/10

I've had my eye on this box set at TJ Maxx for about the last month (see my earlier review asking if I should buy it), and I was waiting on the price to get reduced. I stopped in the other day, while one of the employees was organizing the fragrance case, so I asked him how long it takes for things to have the price reduced. He replied that it was different and they were told when to reduce the prices, and asked what I was hoping. I said that I had been watching the Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence set, and he checked and it was scheduled to be marked down! He added the new sticker ($64, reduced 20% from $80) and took it up to the front for me to buy! 🥳 This is my first Bvlgari fragrance in my collection so far, and it was a blind buy, but I have a sample of Bvlgari Man in Black, that I really like, plus I really like Alberto Morillas, and I've tried Tygar at the store and I LOVE that one. I'm still learning about different scent notes and stuff like that, but I think the Vetiver note is really strong with this one. I just tried my sample of Tom Ford Grey Vetiver, and I can smell a similar, woody, earthy note in them both. I have a sample of Etat Libre d'Orange Fat Electrician Semi Modern Vetiver too; I'll have to try that one again too. I've only used my new bottle of Man Terrae Essence a few times so far, but it seems pretty versatile. It's really hot outside here, but it seems to perform well, and I really like it so far.

This is an absolute masterpiece. More to come when I get more wearings. But so far 10 outta 10 easily. Has hints of Gucci guilty absolute, but definitely different. This isn’t as linear. Also been going strong on my skin for 7 hours. Checks the performance box. Update: when I bought this I was not expecting to love it as much as I do. This is unexpected. When I first sprayed I was almost like well the search is over! Don’t need to buy anything else. This smells like my personality. It has a citrusy earthy, dirt, rich smell to it that smells extremely masculine but doesn’t come off as off putting one bit. Smells like citrus fruits buried in the dirt, I can picture a Italian landscape smelling this. And goodness... it is just a beautiful scent. This is a modern man’s fragrance. I am so tired of the generic bullshit mass appealing stuff that is saturated in the market today. This truly is a breath of fresh air. I haven’t smelled TDH in years so can’t make comparisons but I don’t remember liking that as much as this. Performance is great! I wouldn’t say it’s absolutely beast mode but it’s close... I get a good 8-10 hours on skin with high projection for the first 4 hours. I think this may be better suited for warm weather, at least on my skin.... And for me, I will buy this again. Which is rare for me I never buy 2 bottles of anything. This is me. Smells like my personality, through and through. Ignore the hate and try

Alberto Morillas has his own high end niche brand called Mizensir (owned by his daughter). For that brand he created three marvelous oud fragrances which were part of the brand's launch lineup. These were Ideal Oud, Original Oud and Perfect Oud. Later he added more Oud fragrances namely Golden Oud and Tender Oud. So, you can imagine the kind of homework Alberto has done with the Oud note recently. (Not that any note is a stranger to him) Here he used a lot of that recent expertise and you are getting it for a lot cheaper. Almost half the price. With this Bvlgari the Oud note simply floats on a bed of fresh aquatic notes. You can literally feel that there is a bed of classic fresh notes and they carry the oud without actually touching it. There is a sense of separation there. The bottle is gorgeous. I am a big fan of the marble finish. The only little gripe is that the sprayer on these bottles is really bad. Not a deal breaker at all. The fragrance is top notch. He could have released it for Mizensir and demanded double the price. The scent is everything you would need in autumn and winter. For me, it was an instant purchase. It is office safe. Date night worthy as well. Classy! Over all the oud note stays with you until the dry down where also the vetiver shines. Must buy for anyone who wants to learn what Alberto's recent work has been about.

This might be the best vetiver scented fragrance of any I have smelled or owned. I like a lot of the Bvlgari Man line, and I think this one might almost challenge Man in Black for the top, and I am in love with that stuff. It has a clean, yet earthy, and just very calming, natural, grounded scent to it, I am not sure how to describe it in words, I know sound and scent are often strongest correlators to memories, and when I have worn this, it instantly makes me happy and have memories of great outdoor experiences I have had in many national parks, forests, mountain ranges over the years. This isn't an all pleasing, easy to pull off scent. It takes the right type of person to like it, and for their skin chemistry to work well with it. It just smells phenomenal and like such a pure, natural delight on my skin, and I really need to get my hands on a 100ml of this stuff to keep using it more! I always advise one to get samplers from the fragrance house, or decants from someone before blind buying or even just having smelled something once or so, because fragrances are such a subjective thing, and I am just delighted with how much this one works well for me, and how much people around me have complimented it as well.

This is a slightly toned down Gucci Guilty Absolute. This has a more toned down leather note with a little more citrus nuances in there so it's not quite Gucci. If Guilty Absolute is a 10/10 in performance, which it is then I would give this an 8.5 or a 9 because this is a monster too. For me I think I prefer this a little more over GGA because it's more pleasant along with that rugged petrol leather note in there. Terrae Essence is one of the best Bvlgari Man fragrances I've smelled in a long time. They really hit it out of the park with this one! I recommend this to any guy older than high school because this is on the mature side as far as smell. If you're a fan of Dior Fahrenheit and Gucci Guilty Absolute then you better try this! I highly recommend this if you like fragrances in that ball park. This is rugged but it has a slight sweetness deep in there as well. I think this is a more refined and touched up Gucci Guilty Absolute if you know what I mean. I also think you can blind buy this if you know what you're getting into. I was happy with this blind buy and I think you will be too! If you liked Gucci Guilty Absolute but it was a little too intense for you, try this!

This fragrance is STA-ROOONG! Id applied 4 spritzes for work vs my usual 6 or 7 as it was my first full wear, and since I wasn't sure about how it would wear (Besides just spraying some on my hand) I didnt want to choke folks out at work if it was too potent. Well a few hours into my shift a customer whom I see at the store I work at all the time was chatting with me, she asked "Is that you're cologne I'm smelling?" I'd replied "I dont know, here smell my shirt" she said "Oh Yeah, smells good, but I think you sprayed too much on this time".. That was THEE FIRST TIME EVER someone has EVER flat out told me Id over-done a fragrance (which I truly actually appreciated.) Point is... be very careful with the amount ya spray on, ESPECIALLY for work or any sort of social gathering where ya dont want to come off as, well.. "Obnoxious!" Lol! Oh and this last a long time too. To be safe I'll say it lasts at least 7 to 8 hours on skin. This is legit entering "BEAST-MODE" territory. I really dig how very Unique it is, Oh and Gucci Guilty Absolute for Men ain't goth NUFIN' on Bvlgari Terrae Essence, especially in the performance department let alone the actual smell thats FO SHO!!🫡

The opening is so unapologetic, the "soil" is more like a garage oil thingy not to say leather right away (Yeah, leather and a bunch of citrus, slightly bitter) I get the same vibe when I spray interlude man... but instead of 40 minutes of intense non stop crazy I get no more than 5 minutes of "that". After 5-10 minutes and already rounder with so many notes including critics working together to make this mass appealing there's this earthy leathery note from up-close which is always present that gives life to the fragrance. Gives it life without making it harsh... So good, so masculine and I get two hours of round leather and juicy critics that is super crowd pleasing, no one will ever think anything bad about this fragrance I feel like dousing myself in it and makes me love leathery fragrances more and more. Well, it smells niche, but it doesn't last half as long. A 3.8 is almost a joke in regards to quality, I'm buying extra bottles, or getting ombre leather, this is what I expect of leathery fragrances.

Alberto Morillas nailed it again! Terrae Essence, which I acquired as a fan of Bvlgari Man flankers, especially Man in Black, is positioned in the earthy, citrusy and woody categories. It is not a perfume to buy blindly, you should definitely try it before getting a bottle. It carries the earthiness of Hermes Terre d'Hermes and the animalic athmosphere of Gucci Guilty Absolute, which is a banger imo, has become a juice that I enjoy wearing especially in the autumn months. The phase change is not quite sharp, it follows a linear line most of the time. You basically smell a buried leather jacket with a cigar in its pocket under the soil, smelling the nature and the well blended ingredients of this juice. It resembles Guilty Absolute a lot, also it carries the vibes of Terre d'Hermes, but still it has a unique composition that should be tried. Bvlgari Man Terrae Essence. Masterpiece. Picked this up today. The scent is so beautiful to me. Totally in love with it. It’s my gift to myself for my 25th bday, appropriately it is my first fragrance that I would consider mature and ultra masculine. Like the name suggests it’s very earthy, a nice woody vetiver and leather gasoline kind of scent to it. Oh so slightly sweet. Performance is outstanding on my skin. Haven’t smelt anything quite like this, but to me it has a similar vibe to dior Fahrenheit. Also the bottle is gorgeous. My only complaint is that the sprayer becomes a water gun if pressed too lightly. I give it a 9.5 / 10. Bvlgari released an excellent video featuring the legendary perfumer Alberto Morillas showcasing this creation, it’s a great watch I highly recommend checking it out. If you’re looking for a more mature masculine scent give this a try, it’s perfect for me. Now I have to get my nose on man in black.

I tried a lot of perfume at shopping mall I sprayed and tested it on that day...but once I try this perfume I fell in love with the uniqueness of the scent...the scent really unique and stand out from other perfume...because I'm using fresh or soft perfume for my daily perfume...once I spray i actually smell a bit tobacco and very pungent smell but however the smell is quite pleasing. The salesperson said that it has earthy scent but from my opinion it's a more likely a smoky feeling. Fyi I'm not a smoker so I can adopt with the smell. However, after it dry the smell is not pungent as before but the scent is more soothing than before. Overall I can said that this perfume is very unique and stand out from the other. If u want to try perfume that stand from the other u may try this.

This fragrance is a dedication to the earthier side of vetiver and orris butter. Where most vetiver fragrances I smell are more clean and citrus-y, this is a slightly darker, dirtier vetiver - in all the right ways. Imagine that vetiver and orris are essentially like root vegetables, being pulled out of the earth in their natural goodness, covered in dirt. That's the idea as i see it. As it dries, the balance and versatility increases and totally strikes me as cool, original and fresh/modern with touches of fire-y smokiness. Update: Sprayed on paper, the Iris and citrus really shine a lot more compared to my skin. This gives it a much more cleaned, sophisticated and dressed-up vibe compared to an earthy, smokey vetiver. So it may smell different on your skin than mine.

I’m addicted to this smell. I can’t stop sniffing my husband when he wears this. Even when he’s at work I sometimes smell the nozzle to stop me getting withdrawals lol. It’s so warm and woody and spicy. I can’t compare it to anything else I’ve ever tried and I haven’t tried Gucci guilty absolute... but I will now. It’s definitely not blind buy material. I imagine it’s uniqueness will probably make it quite polarising. However I recommend anyone and everyone to seek this one out to sample because it really is something else! *Edit* I’ve since tried Gucci Guilty Absolute and I really like that too, I see the similarities. I would say Terrae Essence is like a day time version of GGA. I still prefer BTE over GGA and it also lasts longer which is good.

How is this garnering just 3.83? Terrae Essence deserves at least 4.20. On the initial spray, I am instantly reminded of Gucci Guilty Absolute, which I held off purchasing because I like versatile scents and Absolute is not one. After the Absolutesque opening, the citruses amplify to lend body and sweetness, and surprisingly stick around well into the drydown. The overall effect is a deftly-orchestrated interplay of the four major components of citrus, earth, leather and iris. Personally, I do not perceive a great similarity between this and Terre D’Hermes; the latter is centered around the dusky orange while earthiness plays the lead in Terrae Essence. I think they complement each other with the Hermes better suited for warmer weather.

This scent has evolved since I got it first. I also have learned how to apply this scent. I did not like this at all before, who knew this one needed to macerate and be kept on a shelf. Gone is the sour sweat smell from my new purchase. Now I get that faint citrus/calamansi in the open. Closer to lime than lemon. It quickly transitions into toasted wood and stays that way. For the entire duration. This is now my wood base for everything. I spray it on my chest under my shirt and for most of the day, all I smell is toasted wood the whole day. The smell of almost burning wood but not yet smoking. Then pause. Thats it. For the whole day. The top note just disappears with this method too. I then layer it with my favorite top notes.
