Bvlgari Pour Homme

There are some scents you get, experience and can't wait to review, to gush words of praise and tell the world from the rooftops. When I first encountered BPH, it was almost a decade after its release (2006) and I bought it scent unsniffed, from an online retailer after reading the reviews of Fragranticans far wiser and experienced than myself. It was an obviously well-made woody floral musk fragrance: clean and fresh without the tsunami of calone most newer men's scents of that era contained. Flowers musk and woods are deftly entwined, without too much sweetness or spice, and only enough citrus to tease out the freshness of the prevailing tea accord. A slightly above average cologne with decent longevity and respectable projection, this found itself filed in the BVLGARI row of the designer shelf of my armoire after a few wearings and though it was solid...it failed to wow me. Had I reviewed this in my earlier reviews, I daresay I would have "sold it short"; mostly because I have an entirely new outlook on this scent, perfumer and house. A prelude of freshness results from a cacophony of notes Jacques Cavallier-Belletrud has soothed to an harmonious choir of soft whispers, wafting as fresh as a breeze. Aldehydes add an airiness (as opposed to an expanding sparkle) while orange and bergamot add the needed citricity (and not a drop more) to attenuate the tea and petit grain; as they perfectly dissolve into leaf-tinged powdery floral notes of lavender and neroli closing a veritable perfect circle of clean, sans any of the usual soapy associations. BPH's aura of pristine masculinity makes it an utterly versatile scent choice suitable for the office, school, casual gatherings or a first date. The floral choir in the heart (cyclamen, geranium and carnation led by iris) continues the floral theme of the opening lavender and develops it, making it deeper (not louder) and at the same time smoother with rosewood and guaiac. Cardamom (warm green sharp) pepper (piquant and sharp) and coriander (cool & leafy but bitter) are, like most notes in Msr. Cavallier-Belletrud's works especially for this House, imperceptible as individuals yet their additions are what makes this a flawless silk and velvet tapestry, as opposed to a flashy silk screen on simple material. The weaving of the aromatic threads and olfactive colors "just so" truly makes BPH more than the sum of the parts. In the far drydown, the core of musk and cedar glows as it serves as a balancing point for the sweetness of amber (translucent amber is listed on Bvlgari's site) and *one single small?* tonka bean, against the dynamic duo of vetiver and oak moss while they hint at a hidden wildness underneath it all. BPH is a rather charming and very polite rascal beneath those starched collars and pressed trousers. Despite the fact this may seem cool or even aloof should not give you pause. Everyone needs a nice pressed neutral button-down shirt, that you can use with any outfit or situation. This is "that" shirt in a bottle-complete with mother-of-pearl buttons and hand sewn silk thread seams. Bravo!! Sillage: moderate to very good Longevity: above average (7-12 hours) Overall: 4.25/5 Now BVLGARI's perfume catalog numbers upwards of seventy fragrances; but, when BVLGARI POUR HOMME hit the market, in 1996, there were only two! (EAU PARFUMEE AU THE VERTE '92 and BVLGARI POUR FEMME '94) Later that year another *new* favorite of mine was released: EAU PARFUMEE AU THE VERT EXTREME-nosed by Jean-Claude Ellena. Currently BPH is still available at several online retailers (some for as little as .50/ml!) and remains a fixture worldwide at high-end fragrance counters and flagship stores. BVLGARI POUR HOMME seems to "play well with others" while offering year-round versatility, excellent quality-to-price ratio (or QPR) and sheer stunningness. I, therefore, dub BVLGARI POUR HOMME a Modern Masterpiece. Not only for how it has stayed the course over the last two decades, defining and setting the bar for men's elegance and style; but also for its uniqueness, considering its time and contemporaries, and subtle balance of softspoken luxury with graceful sensibility.

I will try not to go on too long with this. Since 2010 I have been searching for this elusive fragrance. I was a flight attendant at the time and working alone on a flight from Atlanta to Asheville. The season was fall. The jet was a 50-seat CRJ so I was the only flight attendant. A young man boarded, and I immediately noticed a wonderful but completely unfamiliar aroma coming from him. It was something I had never before smelled in a cologne. At the time I could only describe it as something very "modern" and sophisticated, almost futuristic. That's it. While performing the beverage service, I kept noticing a very fresh, clean, and "airy" aroma throughout the cabin. It was a calming freshness. My nose detected this incredible scent, which was completely natural and "nature-like". I imagined a grove of tall trees along a coast somewhere with ripe oranges somewhere in the mix. When I arrived at his seat (I didn't feel comfortable asking him what he was wearing- stupid me!), I could detect a woody and spicy base note array, with that "unusual" note in the background. I was mesmerized. I'm sure the aroma was noticeable to the other passengers, being such a small plane. Everyone on the flight was calm and seemed content. No one else appeared to be wearing any other fragrance that I could smell. When we landed and the men stepped off, I could once again detect the original "modern, sophisticated" smell. Idiot me, once again, I didn't ask him. This would have been around 2010. It is now October, 2024. By accident, I believe, while browsing Fragrantica, I have found the elusive scent right here just from reading all of the reviews. I received a bottle of BPH today; the original formula in edt form. I knew within 10 minutes that this was it. You wouldn't believe how long I have searched and how many other fragrances I have bought, only to find out they weren't the "one". I am beyond happy today. I hope this magnificent scent stays around. I checked and my bottle was produced in January, 2023, so it's not an old bottle. THANK YOU, Bvlgari, and Cavallier for creating this thing of beauty and mystery. What I love is: a low-key, inoffensive fragrance that I believe anybody would love. The freshness of the tea and the orange, mingled with the woody base, is just sheer genius. I don't think I'll ever have to switch to another fragrance because I have found my dream scent. I applied a spray or two to my arm 4 hours ago and I can still smell it. I'm going out to dinner tonight to celebrate and you bet I'll be wearing Bvlgari pour Homme. And more than 2 sprays! Lol UPDATE! Since wearing this for two days, I have found that I am over-spraying. So many here say how weak and understated BPH is, so taking this advice I sprayed 3 times on my neck, and one spay on each forearm. BAD IDEA! I think the batch that my bottle came from is extremely strong. I got a couple of negative reactions. One person in my office sitting close to me had to move to a different office after beginning to cough a lot. Obviously, I over-sprayed. And I have to remember that many don't like the top notes as they can be harsh. I think for me anyway, a single spray to the neck will work just fine without offending anyone. I hope so, anyway. UPDATE: Although BPH is great, I just tried Bvlgari pour homme Extreme, and this IS my elusive fragrance. It has just enough in common with BPH, but I prefer the extreme. I know, it's discontinued, although happily I can still find it online.

There is a way to measure the classic status of a perfume. If over 25 years later (almost 30), the perfume still smells actual, doesn't smell "old" and still sells and gets compliments from others, then it's a classic. And Bvlgari Pour Homme is just that. I'm so glad I finally got a bottle of this in my collection, just in time for Spring and cooler Summer days. Let me make this clear outright: if you're looking to stand out, be quirky or surprise, this isn't the scent for you. If you're looking to make a good impression, smell clean, sophisticated and appealing, this is the one. This is in that vein of scents that just make you feel good and is pleasant to mostly anyone, like (Versace) Eau Fraiche. Actually, the woody drydown reminds me very much of Wood by DSquared (the original one in that wooden square bottle). Bvlgari Pour Homme is mostly known for its impeccable, refreshing and uplifting opening of citrus with a floral tea note. One of the best tea notes, I find, especially in the designer world. It's also soapy from lavender but not to the point where it smells like a lavender field, just a little aldehydic is all. This opening really brightens my mood, makes me feel happy and energetic. The middle notes open up as your skin warms up the fragrance and spices come in knocking, not blaringly loud, mind you, just enough to make it last on your skin and give it some kick. To my nose, coriander and pepper are mainly what I smell along with probably a little carnation (that floral peppery kick). It dries down woody and musky, with guaiac and musk (clean musk) taking the spotlight. I also detect cedar and vetiver which usually end up turning on my skin and being unpleasant but here Mr. Cavallier's skillful blending makes it so it all blends together masterfully, without jagged edges. This is one of the few Spring/Summer scents that performs well too. A good 6-8 hours easily, probably more with it gets warmer. Really perfect for Spring, will do great in Summer as well on cooler days, just perhaps not in high humidity since the woody drydown might get a little overbearing. Will do well on early Fall days before it gets cold and rainy too. Really, really great stuff. If you're over 30, are looking for clean, mass-appealing scent that's sophisticated and classy and you want to avoid smelling like everyone else, this is a fantastic option.

My first review ever here. It had to be for my signature and all-time favourite fragrance. I've owned a considerable number and variety of fragrances, ranging from old-school to more contemporary ones. Bvlgari Pour Homme was the one that got me into the collecting game. Since I first put my nose on it 19 years ago, I've had experiences with many of the fragrance genres available in the market, including designer and niche. So far, I haven't been able to find anything as good as this. I could mention Versace The Dreamer as my other major discovery. There's one basic word to describe Bvlgari Pour Homme: elegant. Elegance and distinction are its man attributes. It's fresh and simple, and yet complex. It offers simplicity to the less experienced nose and enough complexity to the more trained one. It's also unique as hell. It's trasnparent, green, soft and easy to like. It's champagne, tuxedos, a white shirt with no tie. Despite its elegant nature, it can be worn with jeans and a T-shirt easyly. It's really versatile in what refers to age, season, and wardrobe. I tend to wear this during the summer -which is the longest season where I live- and mostly during the daytime. I'm 38 and some other favourites of mine include Versace The Dreamer, Bleu de Chanel EDP, Dior Homme, Narciso Rodriguez for Him, Hermes Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, Dior Homme Cologne 2013, Bentley Intense, among ohers. The new formulation LASTS AND LASTS for hours, 10+ for sure. The old formulation smells a tiny bit more natural, but lasts quite less on the skin. A timeless, classy and hard-to-label jewel.

i've had a tester of this for a few years now, and only recently did i decide to buy it. doesn't have the greatest projection or performance, but this fragrance was never supposed to be loud and boastful, it's just not in its chraracter. it's very calm and pleasant, you can easily dress it down or wear it to a formal occasion – basically an easy blind reach. you can also layer it with other fragrances, works wonderful. this fragrance is very polite and elegant, not polarizing at all – there's really nothing about it that people could hate, but at the same time it's not something that would get you a million compliments, either. it's a very easy, harmless, gentle and polite scent. i wouldn't recommend it for a blind buy, though, because the opening smells a bit like rubbing alcohol, but it quickly subsides to become a calm darjeeling p.s. the reviewer below said that this is a "weak version" of versace eau fraiche or blue seduction – that is just incorrect, lol

Surprising that I'd never tired this one until now because it's not that I have anything against this house. Bvlgari scents are usually well put together, however not one appeals to me, except for black perhaps and maybe some like this, that I haven't tried yet. I actually saw it in my friends bathroom and when I had a spray was pleasantly surprised. Pour Homme is instantly a very pleasing fresh musky citrus and aldehydes, then a growing tea which is the theme of the perfume. Nothing not to like here infact I think it's excellent in many ways a sweet yet ever so slightly dry, woody composition which many will enjoy. There is something slightly floral in there too which keeps it upbeat. Average longevity and projection and not once does this feel cheap. I'm a fan truly a great fragrance.

Bvlgari Pour Homme is a beauty of a fragrance. This scent feels like spring or summer in full bloom; light, airy and very bright. Bvlgari Pour Homme sits somewhere between Declaration de Cartier and Comme des Garçons 2, just natural beauty. There are some great notes in this fragrance and some standouts are: the tea and lavender in the opening, so soothing. I love how the corriander, rosewood and iris play together in this fragrance; an earthy, warmth as gentle as a summer breeze. The amber and tonka in the base of this composition give a gentle kiss of sweetness to round out this fragrance. What true joy to wear, so subtle yet beautiful. Give Bvlgari Pour Homme a few sprays when calm and relaxation are the first and last goals of the day.

I gave this to my husband to try. It was amazing on him, subtle but long lasting. It was very sexy but you had to be close... Since he died, I sometimes spray it on pillows on his side of the bed. It's not as good as it was when mixed with his personal scents, but it's still very nice. I would wear it myself, except it doesn't care for my skin, so it gives me hives. This is the original pour Homme, not, as others have said, any of the other formulations. The shampoo/shower gel has the same base notes, and that I could use, but cannot find it anymore. This is not the scent for someone on the hunt, but for those who wish to leave their lovers with a scent that cannot be forgotten, try this...

I have both Bvlgari Pour Homme and Pour Homme Extreme, I am comparing the smell of each other, Bvlgari Pour Homme I think has a darker smell than extreme, extreme has more grapefruit at it at the first couple of minutes, which I love, Pour Homme is like have a small amount of Grapefruit at the first spray but the tea is in the top I think, I love Pour Homme and Extreme. This are my best morning fragrance. I love Bvlgari, this is the best. Sillage and longevity are great on my skin. Pour Homme sits close to the skin they say but for me it projects like 2 inch away, I love it. I've got many compliments with this fragrance so this is my fragrance to kill when it comes to daytime.

The opening is very light, with orangey-citrus, black pepper, and tea. It's not so much like Gucci PH2 which has cinnamon and a sweeter vibe. The Bvlgari PH is drier, not really sweet, very faintly floral, and dries down to a very subtle woods/tea combo. Absolutely sublime, will always be a staple of my collection. If you like Atelier Oolang Infini, this smells almost identical at a fraction of the price. Two thumbs way up. This is not a projection monster. In fact it is a perfect office scent, something I wear when I'm not even supposed to be wearing cologne (i.e. working in the hospital). Becomes a gorgeous skin scent.

This perfume is a must for summer mornings. Being a greek it reminds me of summer vacations on an island of the Aegean! Apart from the intense mandarin, nutmeg and tea top notes I would like to add a very elegant mastic note that becomes sweeter during the middles. This particular attribute made me love this perfume from the first spray. Lastly, I would like to mention its longetivity. I sprayed twice before going to work, I returned home, went to the gym, then returned and I could still sense this beautiful fragrance on my neck. The next morning I could still sense it! overall 8/10 and an easy 9/10 for summer mornings.

It's subtle, classic and chic. Green tea notes, with citrusy vibe. I'm pretty sure I smelt this one before and really liked, but never thought it was a Bvlgari classic fragrance. I read a lot about poor performance, but at least on my skin I had a satisfactory performance. I don't care about extreme projection or 12 hours+ performance, I'm more concerned about the scent, and this one smells really good. Now I found a daily "clean" casual fragrance! It was a blind buy, and I'm happy with it. P.S: this fragrance is from 1996, although being a 21 years aged Fragrance I'm 20 and In my opinion fits me well.

It was my first entry to the world of INTERESTING frags, and, believe me, one of the best. Some folks say it has poor sillage etc, but it works for me, it's just perfect. If you want to smell like a heap of paper testers in a grocery store - go for anything else. But if "delicate", "subtle", "non-overwhelming" is yours - GO FOR IT. Even the "extreme" version is not "extreme" for today standards (but is different and, a pity, stronger, too strong for me). Check this one or OLD version of Pasha. BTW, it's REALLY difficult to overspray this one, but if you do, you will regret it ;-)

I love this scent so much, it is like a clean dry autumn day for me. My older bottle from maybe 15 years ago was much stronger, more projection, longevity. I wore every day in autumn winter back in maybe 2012. The new version I bought to re-up that bottle that I finally emptied seems weaker and has minimal projection, though smelling very close to the same as far as I can tell. Bring on the EDP especially if it is very similar DNA but better projection, as I am craving to wear it full time again for this autumn winter! EDIT: how was the parfum so weak?

I know that it ́s for men but the scent is unisex - it is so soft, classic, timeless and elegant that I kept buying for 20 years now and will never stop in my collection. This smell reminds me when I was in Japan and every places were full of snow and cherry blossoms. That feeling of comfort when somebody gives you a hug and whispers "you ́re safe now". It ́s kinda hard to find this one so whenever I travel, I buy 2-3 bottles in Duty Free. I have bought the extreme but it ́s too woody for me after 2 hours and I think it ́s only best for men.

Amazing scent that has such great development. This was my signature in high school. Nice tea opening, very aldehydic, peppery, earthy and not really floral. My bottle is 20 years old and the scent is still stunning, but much weaker now. This scent develops really well on skin and fabric, I love the clean white musk in the base, it makes it sweet and clean, the vetiver surprisingly doesn't make it smell dirty. Underrated, I don't see any popular reviewer covering this solid scent, performance and projection quite lacking though. 8/10.

Very pleasant gentleman smell. Classy protecting self confidence. It as unique scent profile. Also Emirates Airlines are using it as their smell in the Business Class. You can't go wrong. I still have a bottle (with around 30 ml juice left) from the late 90s, and I'm just amazed at how it held its scent through the years – that's more than 20 years. The OG formulation is so superior even to that of the Extreme version. I will forever CHERISH my bottle as it's the last of its kind – this was my father's one of 2 signature scents that's why it's very dear to me. The other one was Armani Pour Homme (when I was a teeny tiny kiddo) and this Bvlgari when I was in HS. Pure memories of my good ol days in a bottle. ❤️

This is honestly one of the best tea fragrances I've tried, and overall one of the best fresh profiles that works on my skin. I don't get the performance issues others speak about, with a solid 6 hours with ok projection. I can see where imagination got it's inspiration from but I think I like this more. Wow, instant order after sampling it on my skin. High quality citrus and tea with a gentleman airiness and nice scent bubble.

I agree that it's a very long lasting scent with above average silage. It's kinda hard to overspray it as I usually give it 6 squirts. This and Chanel Allure were my go to scents when I first really got into fragrances. BPH does have a calming effect and is a very comforting scent. Very fresh and floral and excellent for spring/summer. As I said it's one of my 1st loves and I have been through 3 bottles.

One of the best dry down. Not a big fan of the opening notes, if you smelled it very close to your nose. But give it some time and let it evolve from your skin and then see the magic.Classy scent and lasts on you for a long time. Signature scent worthy. Rating: 9.5/10 ( No full 10 because the opening is meh, but don't judge it too quickly. It will evolve as a beautiful scent) Hands down!

this smells completely different in the warm weather than the cold weather. in warm weather the galaxolide comes way out with its clean but dirty sweet almost incense/ clean sweat comes out very up front, mixing with the citrus / florals like rosewood, slight orange flower, almost verbena type feel, definitely goes well with verbena. this one is a classic . love galaxolide

Besides the opening, which smells like rubbing alcohol( due to the aldehydes). The overall scent is not much different to Soir Pour Homme. Pour Homme becomes woodier and softer, while Soir is a little darker, creamier, and earthier, more interesting to me. Regardless, both are excellent scents, however a bit redundant. Not surprised this one is discontinued.

What a MASTERPIECE, Bvlgari Pour Homme you are a beauty, this is real cologne for real professionals who enjoy life but keep business as business, who does not need to prove anything to anyone. Amazing, elegant, fun, full of life. It is for the guy that no one dare to mess with, but smell is pleasing fresh, and inviting. Bvlgari Pour Homme is for winners.

My favorite perfume for years! Now with these absurd reformulations turned him into an odorless water, I almost feel no fragrance in it .. Even spraying an entire bottle of it I can smell the smell he had in the past. Now it smells of nothing I am very sad, because none of my favorite perfumes have the lovely smell they once had. This is pure excellence in a bottle!! The best and most unique fragrance I have ever had, the only fragrance better is the intense version, ‘Bvlgari Pour Homme Extreme’. Since Extreme projects stronger and longer, I no longer get this version. If you want an amazing and unique scent but yet light and fresh then get this version instead!

This has been my signature spring/summer scent since 2003.. I have a lot of summer frag's and none of them garner the amount of compliments and inquisitions as Bvlgari Pour Homme. A definite lady killer, at least for me it is. This classic distinct masterpiece will always be in my collection. And it's super affordable. Two thumbs up!

I find this fragrance more unisex than just masculine. As a teenager in the nineties, I almost doused Bvlgari Pour Homme. This fragrance reminds me of so many wonderful memories of growing up. Sharp at first, then fresh and citrusy further with a spicy hint of woody and warmer depth ... Mmmm give it to me I want to be 17 again!! 😊

This is basically what I want every man to smell like: strong, sensual, but still warm and comforting. Every time I smell this on someone, I just want to get closer to them, and maybe bury my nose in their neck for a little while. I know this fragrance is near 20 years old now, but after all this time, it still drives me crazy.

BVLGARI Pour Homme Its a charmer from go to woe. From initial first spray and right the way through,its so easy to wear. It is a scent that is relaxing, calming and smooth. Its a guaranteed mood lifter that projects arms length throughout the day with above average longevity. One of my most used, so its a thumbs up for Bph.

A friend sprayed me with this around 1999 and it's been a favorite ever since. Unique and inoffensive. Very faint but perfect. 6-10 sprays needed. Scent lasts long on the skin. Would LOVE this in edp concentration! I wouldn't say this is feminine but I would love this scent on a woman, not so much the Extreme version. 10/10

The best way to appreciate this fragrance is to live with someone who wears it. It might seem soft for the user, but not for his lover. I used to date a guy that was wearing it, and I actually thought it's his natural body smell, and loved it. It's elegant, sexy and reassuring. Now it's time for me to be the wearer of it.

It is a perfect daily scent if you like the tea note and the vetiver. This one is not made to catch attention, but to be remembered by those close to you. I'm sure I've smelled something similar elsewhere, like ZARA, or even the Bvlgari Rain Essence, but this is the one that executed the idea the best in my opinion.

It's criminal that this was discontinued, yes it's light, in a time where people want heavy clouds around them, but Bvlgari PH was sophisticated, yet subtle. One of the first tea fragrances I encountered, for men at least. Not huge, but very distinctive. Much missed, along with soir.

One of the best colognes the exist! Rich, intense, great! Stays on for hours! People usually ask me what I am wearing when I have it on. For those who still haven ́t tried it, I do suggest to do so! One of my top 3, for sure! Only Bvlgari Pour Homme Extreme beats it!

To me it's like l'Eau d'Issey pour femme but pour homme, we can recognize the same perfumers touch. If it could project a little bit more it would be the perfect sent for me. Very 90's, soft and extremely well blended which leads to a subtle quite linear beauty.

The only version I wear is the Extreme. It is much bolder with stronger sillage, but the scent is the same....lasts longer than the regular one listed. Fragrantica does not seem to list the Extrême version of this separately...but it is a different beast.

Only fragrance that can be worn in interviews, this is a unique composition, clean, professional and very comforting, there’s nothing like it. Tea note here extremely elegant, can’t praise it enough, one of my absolute favourite!

This is a classic for a reason! Bvlgari Pour Homme is so elegant and masculine. The woody notes are prominent but balanced by fresh spices and citrus. It lasts all day and gets compliments everywhere I go.

Love this one. My grandma always wears omnia crystalline and this just reminds me of her a lot. kind of like they are the same fragrance just masculine and feminine versions. Forever on my shelf

I love this fragrance. To me it's fresh, light, and classy. I love the airy quality about it. You might think it gave up only to be reassured it's still there with you smelling light and classy.

I got this in Japan and I fell in love with it. Nice, clean scent. Perfect for laid back summer days while strolling along the beach. Scent: 10/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 7/10

love this for the minimalist, simple scents.... and works magic for layering with other scents like citrus, florals and other fragrance enhancer. cant stop buying this one.

One of my most favorite. Love the tea notes, which are dominant. It's an exactly Earl Gray in perfume form. Sillage is moderate, unoffensive and long lasting.

this is herby or gingery i might say. I really like it! its fresh and airy too. 6.7/10. If youre tired of sweet notes, this one is a bit liberating.

I have this.. But the Pour Homme is written in italic.. Is it legit bottle? Smell is wonderful, strong longevity but lack of sillage..
