Calaluna

Normally I would not review something I've only tried once, but there are so few reviews that I figure any additional information might be useful to someone. I tried this in duty free; the tester was almost empty, 5 or 6 pumps gave about what I would estimate as one full spray. The opening reminded me strongly of l'Aromatica's Kulfi, but less edible. There was a note here that I am unfamiliar with except that I recognize it as something I also get from Lanvin's Oxygene for women. After about an hour I mainly got slightly woody, soft cardamon with a hint of almond biscotti. This stage lasted at least 2 more more hours but then I fell asleep. By the time I woke up 5 hours later the fragrance was barely perceptible biscotti. I do realize a long flight in a full plane is not the best setting to evaluate a fragrance. I think I might like Calaluna quite a bit. If I ever get a chance to try it again, I will update this review. 8/29 I got chance to try it again last week and decided I loved it enough to buy the smaller bottle. Unfortunately it went home with my sister; when I get it back I will make a proper review.

About 3 years ago I was at the mall with the female counterparts of my family. I suggested we'd go seperately so I could rummage through the only big-shelved perfumery that I know of. My eyes feisted on the long rows of bottles until I reached the end of the store where there's a little secluded room with the most exclusive perfumes. The bottles were displayet like jewels and among them Calaluna. Having already read the notes I had to test it. Ahhh.. but dang, the price tag was quite unfriendly Meeting up with my family again I had them sniff my arms from wrist to elbow to give judgement on multiple scents. When my mom smelled Calaluna she moaned in excitement and made all sorts of noises you do not want to hear from a parent. Did I want it for myself? Hell yes Did I go out of my way to be a good daughter that day? Yes, sir! I bought it and gave it to her for Christmas. She still has it and now she saves what is left for special occations. It smells amazing. Sweet, milky, musky, spicy. Very good performance Dear Santa, make Bvlgari release this with a sensible price tag 🙏 A 10 out of 10 easily for me

It’s blended so well and smells like luxury, I’m a man and I wear it and get complements from completely strangers asking what it is. Ladies go crazy for it it’s perfectly unisex. It’s smells milky with some spice and powder and has a very warm quality about it, there is that clean powdery Prada undertone to it that lifts it and makes it the perfect balance of a gourmand without fully smelling gourmand. Last 8 plus hours and has an amazing scent trail

Creamy decadent iris. A luxurious smooth blended scent that rolls over you like a fresh silk sheet. Soft, yet alluring. Slightly powdery and spicy with a beautiful iris and heliotrope purple floral blend. This makes me feel and smell like a lady. Moderate lasting power and sillage, lasts longer if also sprayed on clothes.

This is a milky, creamy, softer, more delicious version of Prada Iris. It has less alcohol than Prada Iris as I could immediately smell my hand after spraying unlike Prada Iris which shoots up my nose if I do that. I love this scent more as it is more comforting but unfortunately the longevity isn’t good.

Milky, creamy, delicate and delicious heliotrope, with some faint iris in the background. This is just amazingly lovely, soft and hugging. smells both luxurious and comforting, like an embrace from a noble queen. If only it had better longevity and sillage, I'd be in heaven.

Everyone who smelled the bottle always said first word - coconut milk and powder. Personally my top two from Bvlgari Le Gemme line for women. Thumbs up from me.

Milky sweet but spicy and powdery all at once . It’s a warm fragrance , but it has the sweet mily notes Love it

I was very fortunate to score a full, 1 oz tester bottle on Ebay last year from a seller who didn't know what they had... They had it listed as only "Bvlgari perfume tester", but I recognized the bottle, and was the only bidder - lucky day! Anyway, as others have said, it's a clean, powdery iris with loads of ionones, and creamy, lactonic notes over a billowy blend of white musks. Everything else merely functions as an accent around this structure. It's a cozy, unpretentious scent... very simple, and restrained. It reminds me of the base of 'Eau Parfumée Au Thé Blanc' - amplified into a very "white" perfume indeed! Longevity for me was over 12 hours... albeit most its life is as a skin-scent that hovers a few inches away from my skin. I would recommend opting for a decant before splurging on a larger bottle at the current prices. Worth it? Debatable... I have other white musks in my collection that I enjoy more, to be honest, but I'm happy to have an ounce in my collection for now.

I was given a small dabber of this fragrance. It looks like it has been shared quite a few times. So, the purity may be off. However, I have always found Bvlgari fragrances to be too light for me. They may smell good but last about 10 seconds on my skin. MOST of them....Pour Femme being one of the exception. But I digress....what I can smell are a little of the woods. I love iris, heliotrope and black pepper (when well blended) and was hoping to grasp a little of those, but to no avail. I would give this another try again from a bottle that has been well kept, because the notes look lovely.

It's a comforting, soft milky veil. In the beginning it reminds me of horchata (a spiced rice milk)--probably heliotrope, ambrette , and cardamon--then it turns into a light, milky piña colada (pineapple-coconut) when pear comes out.

It's hard not to feel sumptuous and self-satisfied wearing a brand like Bvlgari, but at the end of the day this reminds me too much of my dad's shaving cream from the 90s. Soapy, even.

Calaluna. Beautiful name, presentation and note pyramid...yet fails miserably at delivering my expectations. I was hoping to get lots of yummy green cardamom and milkiness, and instead this perfume opens with a coconut-y powder with the slightest hint of cardamom. More iris-y than heliotrope. It's not sweet at all and leans on the dryer side, which I like, but not spicy enough to peek my interest. The scent wears very linear and stay close to skin. Now here's the biggest catch - this is a very, very "soft" scent- I seem to become anosmic to it very quickly. To give a reference, the only other scent I'm anosmic to is Rose de Grasse by Aerin. To me (an under-sprayer) this perfume has zero projection after 30 seconds. 4 sprays in was like spraying water. Very sad. I suspect there are some heavy aromachemicals used in this composition that cause me to go nose-blind. I was lucky enough to get a 7.5ml travel spray for $35, but even that seems a bit pricy. Definitely don't recommend paying the full price.

Mystery and solitude are Calaluna, the moonstone. The goddess, this stone is associated with magnetism, and intuition. Calaluna is also a beautiful isolated bay on the island of Sardinia. Azure waters and white warm sands are the signature of this place where the cliffs dotted with caves falls it the sea. This fragrance of White Iris, almond flavored Heliotrope and Sandalwood is warm and lonely. Not the sad kind of lonely but the self-possessed solitude of one who lives comfortably in one’s own skin. This is a very contemplative fragrance. When I wear it I feel the doors of introspection and discovery unlock and open before me. Truly beautiful, and again only three notes that blend to do all of this. Less is becoming the minimalist’s everything. That everything embodied here is the pinnacle of cool and chic. I have both the 2014 and 2016 versions, and I'm a bit flustered because their scents are different. The 2014 version is more powdery and musky. The 2016 is lighter. Either way, this is a scent that's a bit ahead of its time. It's similar to bdk's Fig, but much more musky and softer.

This reminds me of True Religion Love Hope Denim 2007 formulation. It’s sweet but has a deep suede like core. It’s definitely unisex and I really can’t stop smelling my wrist lol
