Eau Parfumee au The Bleu

This is one of my very favorite fragrances, and apparently an aphrodisiac to my boyfriend (extra credit points there). This is such a stand out fragrance... totally unique, so imagine my surprise when I heard how little love this one was getting. This frag is sadly so under rated, but I think I know why. When I first smelled it on the card, I wasn’t sure I liked it either. It’s not one of those fragrances that just jumps right out as being a smell to swoon over, because it is very, very dry, (no sweetness whatsoever), and almost seems strange smelling, because it is so different than most other perfumes. It is very much in a league of its own even as a natural tea smelling scent. Because, of its unfamiliar quality, it makes you go “Hmmm... I don’t know....” at first. Unremarkably, the only thing I’ve smelled like it is Bulgari’s au The’ Vert. Au The’ Vert has the same natural powdery root smell, but The’ Bleu’s powdery root smell is amplified by the addition of iris (from which I understand au The’ Vert does not contain). Again, the powder smells herbal and earthy, which is actually quite nice, and melds well with my skin’s natural scent. I would never EVER have had a fraction of the admiration of this scent that I do now had I judged it alone without allowing it work with my body chemistry. Prior to doing so, I honestly didn’t “get it”, but within moments of spraying it on my skin, the cold, dry, somewhat metallic notes were given life, and warmth, and suddenly, I was overcome by an “Ah ha!” moment as the scent became intoxicatingly gratifying, and I couldn’t stop sticking my face in it. The Lavender smells incredible in this frag. Sometimes I have a hard time with lavender in other fragrances because of the astringent quality it normally has, but in here, it strangely lends itself to an almost spicy quality when combined with other the notes (or perhaps my personal scent). Regardless, the subtle spice that happens makes for a wonderful scent that, to me, is beyond perfect for summer time. On hot, sticky days, I reach for this while casting looks of disapproval at those wearing citrus, and ultimately smelling like sour BO.

Among refreshing, aromatic fragrances this is a true delight. Worn all day in the piping hot sun, Bleu gave me a wonderful sense of freshness and calm this week. There is almost a therapeutic quality about it. I would call Bleu a grounding and comforting scent, although I usually ascribe such qualities to powerful and oak moss centered chypres. This is not powerful at all in the traditional sense, but a soft and airy fragrance with tea and lavender. The most prominent note to my nose is IRIS - the powdery iris of Infusion d'Iris. It is perhaps more airy and fresh than Infusion, and wholly suited to the most sizzling weather and soaring temperatures. Any fragrance can burn off skin rapidly in the heat, but worn on hair and fabric, Bleu stayed with me all throughout the day and still lingers on my shirt with serene freshness. It is difficult to describe fragrance with mere words. The aura created by this bit of Bvlgari art transcends the merely fresh category into comforting elegance, were the two words ever used together... If there were one phrase ( other than the ones above! ) that encapsulates it, I would say: Calming CHIC. Five Stars Edit - For me personally Burberry Brit Rhythm nicely fills the aromatic/hot weather spot at a lower price range. They are not twins, but cousins. Minus the tea note, Rhythm nonetheless has lavender/musk/orris root down to perfection. It's wonderful in the heat and lingers expertly throughout the day. As for refreshing TEA note fragrances, I adore Paul Smith Rose, which on me is more about the tea than the rose, and also holds up to heat with a similar genius. Who knows, I just may layer the two, but they're superb hot weather gems on their own!

Powdery sweetness and parma violets (confectionery) are dominant on my skin, especially from the initial spray until about half an hour into wearing. There is something of a sharp or piercing quality to the intense powdery, violet sweetness. During the dry-down, iris emerges – along with an aromatic, herbal, almost clary-sage like note (the "tea"?), with hints of lavender; mellow and aromatic, and a welcome addition. Also a wonderful, tantalising hint of cardamom, which is somehow unexpected, yet harmonious. Nonetheless, the candied violet remains. It all balances out smoothly at about an hour after initial application. On me this is just a little stronger than "skin scent" after several sprays (approx 3 per pulse point) to pulse points on inner elbows, wrists, neck, and lasts about two hours. Thé Bleu seems wearable by all genders, in various everyday contexts, intimate, casual or professional settings. It would undoubtedly bring a touch of serenity and refinement. I also get vintage vibes. On me, it is a cool-cold scent which, synaesthetically-speaking, IS "blue". Lastly, this does remind me of Prada (Infusions) Iris, which I already own, and love. Like the former, Thé Bleu has that clean, cool "starchy iris" effect, as another reviewer identified. But it is the overall effect or "mood" evoked that I find similar, rather than simply the fragrance itself.

If someone were to ask me to describe Eau Parfumée au Thé Bleu, I would tell them that it is a starched iris and orange blossom with a heavy hit of spices and tea. The first opening of Bleu is hard-hitting and even abrasive, but to me, it is one of the most gorgeous orange blossom compositions I have ever sniffed. The juxtaposition of the suntan lotion with intense chai spices is intriguing. Typically, spiced tea accords are paired with sweet, creamy vanilla, so the aforementioned combination is rather unexpected. The base of the fragrance is similar to the clean, starched iris found in Infusion d’Iris by Prada, but the effect is almost hot and dry instead of cold and metallic. Overall, I am impressed by the Bulgari Eau Parfumée line and would recommend it as an outstanding example of tea-based fragrances; although, I would wear Bleu while in the mood for iris or orange blossom, not tea. Note: there is definitely a lavender accord kicking around, but I typically have a tough time picking out lavender—it appears and disappears, darting in and out of the cloud of iris and white musk. 4/5

Eau Parfumee au The Bleu is an innovative approach to cool and fresh. Using the ionones of violet and irones of iris, sheered out with aqueous, herbal lavender and a noticeable perillaldehyde (shiso), it has a durability that belies its softness. The tea accord that is at its core feels like an iced tea, the aroma almost like the taste of tannins, green and slightly astringent. I must admit, it reminds me somewhat of the aroma of the Lipton ice tea powder mix that was popular back in the 80s. Coumarin and an understated orris powder sensation surfaces over time, a sweet talc after the watery tones and iced tea ease. There are even echoes of L'Heure Bleue and Caron Aimez-Moi in its development, with their muted hues somehow made lighter and more effervescent, suitable for warmer weather. Overall, au The Bleu has a relaxing, tonic quality that would appeal to those who are drawn to fragrances with an aromatherapeutic sensibility. For me, it's a fulfilling wear and one of those that is even suited for "over spraying."

Lovely delicious perfume!! Beautiful iris and tea, a heavenly mix amalgamated with the wonderful scintillating lavender, and the gorgeous, really beautiful violet, and the shiso adding a pungent peppery thrill. The dry-down is really lovely - soft and gentle musk. Excellent longevity and soft alluring sillage. My husband loves it on me. We both love it, and other people take notice of it and always tell me they think I smell beautiful. It's very fresh, invigorating and calming and soothing at the same time. A real treat for the senses. The lavender is excellent. Really sweet and rich. It's incredibly feminine, soft and yet strong, rich and enticing. I love it very much. It's very very special. Oh, and I LOVE the bottle! It's absolutely beautiful: elegant, stunning and refined looking, and such a lovely feminine colour. Very classy.

This honestly blew me away! Even though it’s an Eau De Cologne, it performs better than most Eau De Toilettes on the market today. The bottle and the colour of the juice is the perfect representation of what wearing this is going to feel like. I am a big fan of Sam Harris’s meditations and I wear this just before I sit down to meditate. It puts me in that calm state of mind. If you are looking for something to wear very casually and to feel better and relaxed, look no further. But, if you’re looking for something that lasts a long time and has monster performance, look elsewhere. This is a more elevated, aromatic, spicy, and certainly powdery version of 4711. For an Iris lover, not the lipstick kind, Thé Bleu is a big huge surprise. Also it very easy the see Daniela Andrier ‘s hand or better still nose. It’s a version of Prada’s Infuion d’Iris made more minimalist and dry be cause it’s other counterpart is Heeley Iris de Nuit. It’s only for this kind of scent lover, no need to try if you’re not, all you are going to do is complaing. And it’s dry, very dry. Eau de Narcise Bleu is also present as well as Eau de Gentianne Blanche. Day use only. Morning weeding . Want something stronger? Bois d’Argent. Not quite the same but that’s the feeling. Thé Bleu lasts about 12 hours on me, quite strong for the first 3 to 4 hours then you think it’s gone but now and then it’s Back drier and somewhat Lavender for the first time right in the end of it’s life.

I adore Bvlgari's tea range, with au bleu, au noir and au blanc as my favourites. Sadly, the blanc and vert have minimal longevity for me, so it's hard to justify the price when so many cheaper alternatives are just as good. But this au bleu is a winner and lingers for a good 8 hours on my skin. The opening notes I find a tad off-putting and harsh, but within 30 minutes it blooms into something cooling and fresh and utterly delightful. Completely different from my other scents and not your typical tea scent full of citrus. The lavender is clearly noticeable and not too harsh and iris in the dry down is clear and beautiful. I would recommend this for hot days as a cool break, while the lavender with the iris makes it suitable too for colder crisp days of winter.

Notes are incomplete, there is bergamot in the opening, some cardamom, coriander and violet leaf all over. And those notes are kind of Bvlgari's tea DNA, the link with the others. Lavender is not as important as, from the official notes, should be. Violet is. I have a lovely oolong tea with just a hint of lavender that I have been drinking for years, so the concept is not new to me, but I'm struggling to find any. Tea is more implied than figurative and even as tea snob, I'm fine with it. Tea is difficult, differerent cultures had centuries, perfumery has done it for just few decades. It's a lovely perfume. Actually, it's eau de cologne. With an impressive longevity. Fresh and cool in unusual way. I'm enjoying it very much.

This! I think to love this you must love violets. I can’t quite place what this reminds me of, but I’m getting a mental picture of Laura Ashley stores from the 1980’s and gift sets from Crabtree & Evelyn. It’s a blended violet with oolong. Very clean and somewhat formal. Unisex but the violet note is unmistakeable. If this were a fabric, it would be a bright white cotton with petite sharply printed violets in tiny repeating patterns, like very good bed linens. Eyelet trim. Dark purple or even green piping. I adore violets and soapy scents, and this one is perfectly balanced with calming, orderly tea note. Wearing this feels like practicing your best manners while visiting cherished distant family.

What a wonderful fresh scent for summer that isn't neroli, citrus, or aquatic. Tea, violets, iris, lavender all blended to perfection! Nothing harsh, all of the elements are in perfect harmony here and every note has a chance to sing, none overpower the other. This is refreshing, light but still very noticeable. Green w/out being sharp. I would wear this a lot in the summer, great for very hot days and it is a nice change of pace from wearing citruses all the time. I really love this. The smell of fresh tea, herbal lavender, iris and violets gently wafting their scent in the breeze, the greenness of nature and a clean musk. Perfection. Going on my want shelf. Purple and green heaven.

What a beautiful scent! I was expecting a lavender-centric scent, but instead got a sweeter, more unisex cousin to one of my other favorites -- Prada Infusion D'Iris. I mainly smell Iris, Violet, Bergamot, and a little bit of Lavender, which creates this lovely scent picture of sipping Earl Grey while sitting in a garden of beautiful purple flowers. I love that this one feels more full-bodied than Infusion D'Iris, as that one can sometimes be a little too stringent and screechy. And the performance on this is actually better on my skin than Inf. D'Iris. For an EDC, it performs better than some EDTs, and I'm so glad to have found this 💜

Instant favorite! I decided to blind buy after reading the reviews on this page and seeing who the creator is. It did not disappoint! My nose is getting used to it quickly and I get compliments even when I cannot smell it anymore. I must admit that I am not used to this, usually it's the other way around. I also don't usually like Bvlgari, this will be the exception! This EDC can also be purchased as part of a set with soap, shampoo, conditioner, body lotion and oshibori. I recommend getting the set if you can, the other products complement the EDC really well and add to the luxurious feel.

Beautiful purple flower profusion.It is so calming and I swear it has healing aromathepy properties which transport you into a peaceful state of being. I find upon applying I get candied violetts, which some people may find off putting, but it only lasts for appx 5mins and then comes the Iris and Lavender drydown, which is so comforting and gorgeous. I honestly don't detect any musk which I am very happy about and I can't quite detect any tea but I don't care... I wear it before bedtime and within 10mins of spraying this I am asleep. I need a full bottle in my life..soon..

It's got a clean, peppery opening and a moment of Green Tea by Elizabeth Arden, and the combo takes me back to middle school...like Degree for men mixed with Green Tea, which was in fact my combo back then. Top notes faded as quickly as my youth, RIP. It begins to smell like fresh laundry, which is inoffensive in small doses and cloying and fake in larger ones. It ends up smelling akin to baby soft, with even the musk fading out after about 30 minutes. Not something I'd wear much, but I do time travel with this one!

As a fan of Bvlgari tea scents I have been looking forward to trying this. I lucked out today and spied the blue bottle on the Bvlgari fragrance counter. "Ooooooh it's here!" I said out loud. I was that excited. A couple of spritzes later revealed a gorgeous green tea-like scent with a fresh picked lavender note. Really nice and natural - suitable for wear much in the same way as The Vert and The Blanc. Like those, I'd wear this year round and would admire a man who chose to wear it - I'll share it! :-)

The beautiful frosted pastel blue colour of the bottle describes the scent perfectly, and like the scent is a work of art in itself. Lovely scent that skilfully straddles the unisex field as I get a cool spicy drydown with iris and something interesting that's similar to cumin - is that the shiso leaf? Good performance too for an EdC strength product. Anyway, I think it's a great all season scent that I recommend, even though I don't think of it as a safe blind buy.

If you are a fan of lavender, violet and tea, this fragrance is perfect for you! It's delicate, it's like made for the meadow fairy. It's aromatherapeutic, natural, light as a mist. If you're a natural type who doesn't want an "in your face" or artificial type of scent, wants to wrap yourself in the softness and notes of nature, go for it! The downside, unfortunately, is - at least on my skin - really poor sillage. I wish they would at least make a eau de toilette.

My holy grail green tea scent. The notes dance together so beautifully. The lavender is glamorous and the iris adds a beautiful powder effect (not too much or dated). There is a spice to my nose maybe similar to cardamom, but very gentle. I love to wear this after a shower or when I need to relax and de-stress from the work day. It smells amazing on men as well. And...best bottle design and spray ever; gentle mist! Give it a chance, it takes time to appreciate.

A great perfume! I've always considered lavender more masculine aroma, but it turned out it works just wonderfully on me! First you smell real fresh and elegant lavender which settles in a couple of minutes and the iris emerges. Not too powdery, not dirty or damp, just beautiful "Daniella Andrier" iris. The perfume stays on my skin more than six hours, but I do not mind reapplying in the meantime. Classy and elegant, my favourite of all the Bvlgari's "teas".

A dreamy, calming, pillowy soft cloud of loveliness. It does feel very "blue" with the violet, the iris and the almost dusty lavender. Powdery without being a powder bomb in my opinion. Slightly sweet and stronger than you would think for an EDC. I almost think, how can this be right because it performs like an EDP for me. Unless you actively dislike these notes, I would say just get it. It's that beautiful. 10/10

As a great lover of teas and all things herbal, and an admirer of Daniela (Roche) Andrier creations (especially Prada Infusion D'Iris EDP), I couldn't pass up this one. It was a blind buy, and a love at first sniff. It is pretty much along the same lines as Infusion D'Iris, but with a hefty dose of lavender. Longevity IS a problem, you will have to reapply. UPDATE: this scent smells better on my teenage son ;-)

Updated: Left this over winter, spring and summer. Sprayed today and it’s come into its own. I didn’t give this enough credit when I bought a bottle. I felt it didn’t carry the potency and longevity the sample I bought did. 8-9 months has changed the complexity. Stunning. The tea, the iris, the violet. Everything. Unreal. I’m now starting to see the connection with Prada. Spray, leave, spray again, savour. ❤️

This smells gorgeous! It's perfection... I now own the full size, despite my initial worries of poor projection and longevity. However, my concerns were put to rest once I had the spray version. Comments above and below me have described the scent better than I ever could. I just love how it's powdery, aromatic, and juicy (nearly aquatic)...all at once. One of my top 3 for sure!

So familiar (with the lavender and tea) yet unique twist (maybe the shisho?) that I just find myself craving. It's a very soothing bed time spray or good to spray if you need serenity. It's a beautiful blend with light to moderate projection and it does stay in an intimate way for up to 6 hours maximum, and I love it, so I just got a second bottle, this time 150 ml!

I cannot understand how people dislike this one! This is the most interesting and complex in the Bulgari Tea series in my opinion. To me it is like a bit of a green and earthy version of L'Heure Bleue. If you like your tea scents powdery and warming, this is a pretty safe buy, but wait until the price drops a little... it IS an eau de cologne.

There is a definite peppery note to this on first spray. Apparently shiso is a member of the mint family with peppery, fresh qualities. This escapes with the dry down and what's left is a powdery floral that is faintly earthy, and very cool. This really is what blue would smell like to me, and absolutely perfect for a heatwave.

Picked up a decant of this a couple of years back. Loved the projection and the longevity seemed to go on for hours. Picked up a bottle last year and I was disappointed with it. Not much more than a skin scent after 3-4 hours. For the price, it’s not a bad scent, but not one of Bvlgari’s best. Preferred the red.

Quite lovely! Bulgari's Au the Bleu EDC opens with lavender and sparkling green brightness, owed to the Shiso, I guess? This edc is smooth, subtle, clean and classy. The dry down is an elegant, faintly-musky, grown-up baby powder. Certainly a unisex scent with moderate sillage that invites others to come closer.

Beautiful rich and spicy scent with warm and slightly peppery opening. Tea, lavender and shiso are responsible here for aromatic aspect here with licorice and herbal undertones. I also feel somewhat savory in the background. Base smells kinda woody for me. Follow me on IG: scent.guide

This is such a beautiful fragrance. It's cool and not sweet and has almost a meditative feel to me. I get the sensation of a tranquil shady pond or something, but it doesn't feel at all aquatic. The I definitely get lavender, tea, and iris. Some of my favorite notes. So nice.

Unusual mix of notes and exceptionally cool toned. I wish it came in 400ml splash bottles because I would LOVE to be generous with this lovely and delicate cologne. I don't think any colognes should cost this much. I wish I had some of those big candles with this fragrance.

Today, I’m sad. I’ve waved goodbye to a stunning drop. This 75ml bottle has lasted me 3 years. I’m gutted to spray the final few dots. Those lavender, tea, violet and iris notes will be sorely missed. A classic for tea lovers. Thank you, Bvlgari.

I finally found a bvlgari that I like! It hits all points- long lasting, clean, interesting in a subconscious way, un obtrusive and just plain good. Not only that, but it's perfectly unisex. I can happily share this one with the boyfriend.

Beautiful; powdery, yet airy and clean. Great for those who dislike "clean" fragrances. Also, I've had this bottle for years and never gave it a chance. It finally clicked for us, and of course my cat dislikes this scent.

This one is my rainy day scent! It is so calming and easy. Also it does not matter were you decide to go or what to do, it is very much apriciated mild but on me it does have sillage. Cozy rainy days.

received my decant today, and wow ! nice tea - lavender stuff. i like lavender, and i didnt know that lavender will do fine with tea. my new favorite for relaxing at night. definitely a buy !!

If iris was a tea. Took awhile to grow on me but now it's my blind reach for when I need something calm and pleasant. Linear but very earthy, clean, elegant.

beautiful calming yet energizing scent ..i keep getting some bits of Fahrenheit here and there.. (i love Fahrenheit..if only there is a femme version)

Not sure what it is about the bottle I have, but it lasts all day. Sprayed on at 6am. 6pm, I’m still getting wafts. Amazing scent.

a really great scent! not too strong and really sexy.

Very dreamy sleepy skyblue powder scent. Its cross between Guerlain meteorites powder balls and freshly ironed bed linens spritzed with herbal lavender cologne in between folding... soothing blue with green touches, very calming like early summer morning in white nordic cottage. But has a bit of vintage powder vibe, so its more of a classic-leaning scent... I wouldn't have recognised shiso, had I not worn more shiso-forward De Bachmakov before, it adds warmth and fresh herbal angle to lavender and this shiso-lavender is a beautiful combo (like one of these small lavender pouches that you can put on your eyes warm to make you sleep), a bit dusty yet clean. Musky clean powdery violet adds another dimension to this scent. Yes, there is iris in the notes, but its more violet powder than iris for me... The Bleu is not much of a literal tea scent, but it represents the moment of calm, perhaps even meditation - time to reflect... So its more of an IDEA of a cuppa, and the much needed pause it provides in our daily struggles. The scent works exactly like this- it has an aromatherapeutic purpose... which is not something one can say about many other perfumes these days... purpose of beauty silence and comfort. I've enjoyed my sample first thing in the quiet morning to get in touch with my own thoughts, its quite perfect like this... summer or winter.

The first spray reminds me of the L'oreal shampoo that used to come in a fish-shaped container. It's super soapy with light, powdery florals that give it a bubble-bath/shower gel vibe. It was slightly alcoholic but really only for the first 2 or 3 seconds. The earthy notes from both the tea and the iris really help tie together the other floral and musky notes. A a man who does like a lot of floral/unisex scents, this one is very satisfying as I can absolutely see this working on both men and women. Obviously, the packaging and note profile make this lean feminine, but it's definitely not girly or flirty in any way. I think this would be a great, clean office scent for a man, although for a date night you would definitely want something with a bit more musk or spice. I think for a woman, this leans more mature. It's probably not going to spark much of a reaction from others, but it's definitely wearable/pleasant and I think the gentle earthy tones of this scent exude confidence. The scent becomes a bit more earthy on dry-down, but overall remains pretty linear. I think overall this is a nice, pleasant, clean scent that most people would like, and a few would really love. I can definitely see how the earthy notes can turn some people off, but I don't think that's an inherent flaw. I'll give it a 7.5/10 overall.
