Eau Parfumee au The Vert

I needed to spend more than just a word for this other masterpiece, creation of one of the best Master perfumers in the whole world. When this fragrance was launched, there weren't many tea-centred fragrances around. I cannot recall one to be honest. Needless to say, that summer Bvlgari took the market by storm and in Italy every woman literally showered in it - quite understandably I'd dare say. We have some 40C+ days that roast us in Italy, some years as early as June. For those that have not yet visited Italy, during summer one would think to have landed by mistake in Africa or India: it is that hot. In case you plan to go, know that if you don't like roasting heat and humidity you gotta either go to the seaside to spend the whole vacation in the waters, or visit early May - late September. Not kidding: the heat and humidity will otherwise have your blood pressure fall below the ground. This fantastic number provides a blast of uplifting freshness, the bergamot a punch of energy that well counter matches the scorcing light, and temperatures. It has an incredible balance, with a bitter kick from the tea, definitely green. Fairly, I cannot say I did detect the other notes, other than some ghostly light floral and lemon whiff. My first bottle was purchased therefore during a record hot summer, just right before I took a sailing trip. It marked olfactorily quite possibly my best summer ever. On the boat, we took off from Piombino heading to Isola d'Elba, and from there we intended to reach Ajaccio, passing the "bocche di Bonifacio" on return. What can I say: sailing burns your skin, because the splashes of salty water reach as high as the deck where one would stand, and both wind and sun take part in eroding every inch of uncovered skin, slowly as implacably. After 15 hours with the wind whooshing in your ears and the sun heating your skull under the hat, this eau "parfumee" provided a much desired rest from the suffering, keeping me sane though on the balance of a heat stroke! Its calming and envigorating notes had me and our skipper working happily the whole night shift, whilst everyone else slept :) Worth to note that eau "perfumee" translates in Italian as acqua profumata, which means cologne. So goes by itself that it never had the lasting power of a parfum, but boys, what a kick for a few hours! When I sprayed it, the whole crew, also those very far from me, would smell it despite the wind. And loved it! Back to the olfactive memory this fragrance left me with, it was not just related to the fantastic combo of notes. That night, I saw half the sky as if being pulled down on one side of the horizon, whilst the daylight arose from the other. It was surreal to see stars and a sickle moon on my right, falling over the edge of the horizon, and the sun with golden pink and orange colours coming up on my left. The most incredible thing ever, until hundreds - and I mean it - of dolphins approached very silently our boat, which by now was gliding as silent on calm waters some 1 hour away from the coast. Magical, and in all that magic I had up my nostrils the salt of the air, the heat coming stronger by the minute on my arms, and this magnificent scent emanating gently off my tired skin. I cannot fail Bvlgari for having decided to produce this just as a cologne. Dreams cannot and should not last forever: their ephemeral nature is what makes them more beautiful than reality, and the memory of them and their possile return is what enriches us eternally. This is how I feel about Eau perfumee au The' vert. I seek it to bring back one of the most intense and beautiful day of my whole life. Thanks Monsieur Jean-Claude Ellena for succeeding in bringing to life my perfect Midsummer Night's Dream! For me, worth a blind buy no doubt about it.

Bvlgari Au Thé Vert is the most multifaceted fragrance I own and my favourite by far. It's hard to stop myself waxing lyrical about this fragrance: to me, it's like a bell ringing in a forest clearing, or a ripple of water in a clear pond. The green tea accord, white florals, and powdery notes supply a clean, deep, backdrop (like still air or calm water), then the citrus notes and spices enter with their gentle reverberations. The spices are present but never overwhelm: coriander and cardamom add savouriness and depth, and I can also detect the earthiness of cumin. During the first month of wearing it I did get the mosquito coil / DEET association other reviewers have made, but thankfully this faded – either my nose adjusted or the fragrance developed with time. And if this smells like bathroom products, it's only the ones from the most luxurious 5-star hotel you'd ever hope to stay at. I understand the comparisons to Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea but Au Thé Vert is miles ahead in terms of complexity and overall quality, and less "juicy". Armani's Thé Yulong comes close but substitutes the spices for subtle smokiness. The design of the bottle with its frosted glass and heavy cap shaped like a stopper is also beautiful, and creates a very fine spray, although I wish the label wasn't paper so it didn't wear away. Sillage is minimal even after spritzing myself with it generously. Longevity is weak to moderate, fading within an hour of wear, although I can smell it on my skin when I jump in the shower at the end of the day. I'd love for it to last longer but it also seems fitting for it to linger only a little longer than the time it takes to savour a cup of freshly brewed tea.

I bet someone who hates perfume, would love this. It ́s the least perfume like perfume I have ever smelled, and that is not a bad thing at all, but it ́s the best way to describe it. It reminds me of a very luxurious face mask I used once, cant remember which one though, but it was a very herbal clay mask. It truly smells like a spa, deep in nature full of trees and plants by a hot spring and a waterfall, all natural and very clean (but without the clean girl aesthetic kind of clean, this is not a musky mess). It ́s serene and divine, it takes your mind somewhere else, it ́s meditative without smelling hippie dippie or incense like, and thank god no patchouli or camphor. It ́s not feminine, not masculine, but truly unisex, not warm not cold, just neutral and it just IS. Not anything you ́d wear doing random stuff like work or running errands, this is what you ́d wear after a challenging day, taking a warm shower and then putting this on to comfort yourself before going to bed. It ́s an aroma therapeutic experience you give yourself. It took me a long time to find a vintage bottle secondhand, it didn ́t come cheap, so it ́s a shame it ́s so mild and longevity leaves something to be desired. But maybe that ́s what makes it beautiful, it really is a perfume just for you, and no one else around you, to better your mood, for days where you need comfort and silence. I ́m saving it for those days as it ́s perfect for that. I wonder why they reformulated it to have so little notes in the new version, it ́s a shame, because this is truly beautiful.

This is my first try Bvlgari Eau Parfumee Au The Vert, a 1992 release that I was previously unfamiliar with, a highly pleasant, fresh, well-blended assortment of citruses, florals, woods, and spices. Citruses mix with cardamom and coriander over lily of the valley and a prominent green tea note, drying down to tonka and beeswax to sort of add a powdery, creamy aspect. The green tea (and a greenish vetiver-type experience) are the most significant aspects of the fragrance, but it’s a great example of a blend put together by a master (in this case, Jean-Claude Ellena) of concealing specific notes in favor of a cohesive blend, creating something new out of different parts that doesn’t smell much like any of the constituent parts, with the notable exception of green tea, after which the fragrance is named. Overall, I love it, a classy freshie with a lot of quirks wrapped up into a pleasant unisex experience, and a use of green tea that is not particularly heavy-handed, but rather, restrained in concert with a lovely varied ensemble of citruses, spices, and florals, inoffensive but inarguably quite nice. Its concentration is eau de cologne and fittingly, its performance is decent but not great, yet it still makes an impression after a robust opening into a mellow dry down. Retail pricing is $115 for 75ml, but it can be found for $76 for 75ml on FragranceNet, a very reasonable deal for such a classy perfume. 8 out of 10

This was the first perfume I ever loved. My childhood friend gave me a sample of this when we were 14. I had been living on a boat for 4 years and it just reminds me of this very weird time in my life when I was in between transitioning from living on a boat and traveling and being homeschooled and very feeling very isolated and anxious a lot of the time, to living on land and the culture shock that went with that. I went to visit them (the friend) when we got back to the states but weren't yet living in a house. They showed me so much new music and they did my makeup and we ran around their neighborhood in pretty dresses climbing trees and during that period of time I experienced a feeling of yearning like I'd never felt before or since. I was 14 and I just wanted to be an American girl and fit in, and they had all these things that I wanted but didn't need. I felt at once like I was home and that I was an outsider looking in on a life that I had already missed out on in some way. I know now that the person I wanted to be then doesn't really exist. I know that my friend faced hardships that I can't even imagine in the years to follow. My friend and I have grown apart, we don't really talk anymore. But I cherished the little sample they gave me for years, until this month when I finally got a full bottle. Scent memory is a crazy thing.

I think that this is one of the very best green tea fragrances you can find. It's very fresh, cool, and clean ... Which of course makes it perfect for Spring and Summer. This very much smells mostly like green tea, which (to me) smells earthy and fresh. The citrus notes add a touch of watery sweetness and zest. And the wood and musk notes give it a powdery, soft, and clean quality. It's a very pleasant, inoffensive, and wearable fragrance in my opinion. The only downside to this eau de toilette is that it doesn't last very long on me. 3 hours maximum on a good day. Because of this, I wouldn't wear this during the nighttime. However, this is probably a *perfect* fragrance to wear in a work/office environment because of how light and soft it is. While I think that it's overall fitting to call this a unisex fragrance, I think it leans just a bit more feminine than masculine because the wood notes are so soft and faint. Had this been a more woody fragrance, I'd say it was more masculine. Like I said, though, I still think it's fitting to call it a unisex fragrance. I am a big fan of green tea perfumes; I have tried countless ones. While I do wish that the duration of the perfume performed better on my skin, I can't deny that I love the scent regardless. It's easy for me to overlook that one flaw.

I can't explain how much I live this perfume. I wish I could smell like this all the time, and I'll even wear it to bed if I need some extra comfort. It's like sniffing a cup of tea in the morning. Very realistic scent and super cozy. The smell doesn't change all that much during the dry down, although I do feel like some other spices like the coriander become easier to detect. With a spritz or two you get a very nice intimate scent which will sit close to the skin, and if you spray more, it creates a lovely scent bubble. It's not overbearing or headache inducing, so it's a nice fragrance for daywear and if you're going to be in closed spaces and want to be considerate of others. I will say it might be a bit expensive for an eau parfumée, it's not super long lasting (which is to be expected). As others have mentioned, it isn't the most original and you could find a nice dupe for half the price. That being said, the quality is impeccable. It smells expensive and not at all artificial. Maybe not original, but a super well made tea fragrance. Even the bottle is gorgeous and it sprays beautifully with a super fine mist.

My mom used to wear this, and through her I got to love this fragance. No doubt the memory of my mother influenced my liking to this fragance, but this is how the olfactive memory works, right? I remember sneaking out to my mom's make up cabinet and stealing a couple of sprays because I thought this perfume was clearly better than her usual everyday Anaïs Anaïs; there were days when I even did not dare to steal it and just sniff it with pleasure. The bottle and the fresh aura of this was just ethereal! I recently bought it again to keep in my collection and I remember this way more soft than I smelled now; it seems they might have re formulated this one, because I feel the citric notes much more intense. After a while they fade and leave a light, sparkly green tea note on skin, which lasts much longer on clothes. I get 3-4 hours of decent projection if I use this in my clothes, and I feel freshen up, like opening a window to a green and yellow garden just kissed by the spring rain. I really, really like this and would recommend it to any citric scents lover without a doubt.

For those who are wondering how this compares to Elizabeth Arden Green Tea, they are very different. Personally, as much of a masterpiece of perfumery this is I prefer to wear EA, because I'm more of a jeans and t-shirt kind of girl and it feels more fitting for me. This is a lot more expensive smelling and full-bodied and powdery than EA. Neither feel stuffy but this is decidedly more aristocratic feeling. EA is more of a casual fresh citrus scent, that to be fair, is also very well blended and also made by a star perfumer (Kurkdjian) but it is a lot more humble and casual in its sensibilities. This is also why I sadly decluttered Un Jardin Sur Le Nil, another Ellena masterpiece, because it just felt a little too formal for me and my lifestyle. Both are great, but one feels like it was made for a girl next door who doesn't want to draw attention to herself and the other feels like it was made for a wealthy socialite who doesn't want to draw attention to herself. One wears the same crossbody bag every day and the other carries a Hermes on her arm.

Blind buy for me as I was looking for a less masculine version of a fresh green scent. On me Au the Vert is practically a dupe for Acqua Di Parma Blue Mediterraneo Mirto Di Panarea minus the marine note. I don't really pick up any of the floral notes--mainly the top notes of bergamot, coriander and cardamon with the base notes of cedar and green tea. It is a smoother fragrance than Mirto Di Panarea which gives it a more feminine quality in comparison. Very fresh citrus green scent that I personally would wear year around. I love both Vert and Panarea but moving forward I think I may stick with Bvlgari Au the Vert as it's slightly less unisex/masculine. UPDATE: I have become obsessed with this fragrance. I get a good 4 hours of wear from this and happily refresh to get that initial burst of green/herbal/spicey opening. I love the bite of the herbal note blended with a slightly woody base, it is absolutely intoxicating. I wear this often, too often in fact and will be purchasing a back up bottle soon.

This fragrance is a spa day in a bottle. It reminds me of a clean fragrance used in an upscale hotel lobby. I can't believe this is nearly 30 years old, as it seems timeless. It's clean, crisp, inoffensive and relaxing. The first spray has a surprisingly spicy bite, the cardamom and citrus coming through, which settles into a warm, woody green tea. Any florals present are too subtle for my nose. A unisex fragrance that would smell pleasing and clean on anyone. It does fade to skin scent fairly fast, but I'm one of the rare folks who doesn't want to smell like something forever. This is a refreshing cup of a green to relax and uplift you. Sometimes, that's just what you need.

Eau Parfumee au The Vert is a cologne, so it’s power is not in it’s strength. This is all about Jean Claude Ellena and his harmony of notes. It’s very light but far from simple. Vert works well on me in the heat of the summer when you don’t want to offend anyone. It’s a subtle green scent, starting out citrusy, then turning more herbal. I don’t understand the tea note unless that is the slight earthy scent I’m picking up. This is a classic uni-sex scent, anyone could wear it. As expected, it fades quickly but I accept that when I’m wearing cologne. I get 1.5-2 hours before I can no longer detect it. The bottle is a beauty too. Would buy this again and again.

I sprayed this in a shop, forgot about it and went to check other fragrances, then got a whiff of this and started searching through the shop for what I had sampled. 30 years later, this remains the best green tea fragrance out there. The genius of Ellena was to use green tea as a base and not as a very vocal-bordering-on-screechy top-middle note like so many other perfume houses do ("Look at us! We put green tea in this. How hip and unique are we?" -- spoiler: not at all). This is what makes this fragrances much more complex and sophisticated than Elizabeth Arden and the likes. Some of Ellena's best work, even though I can't have it on myself.

For me, this doesn't scream 'tea' but it smells fresh, like you've just taken a soapy outdoor bath (which I've not done). I discovered this scent in Florence, Italy. Every time I smell it, I'm brought back to the place where I fell in love with this perfume-- in a little apartment with a view of rustic rooftops, the great cap of il Duomo rising in the distance. The fragrance of Thé Vert mingles with the crisp winter breeze, its sparkling citrus florals swirling through the room, carried by the echoes of faraway church bells. It smells of quiet mornings, of something impossibly clean yet soft, like linen left to dry in the cold.

I absolutely love this. One of my favourite scents of all time. Sophisticated, luxurious, ageless and delicate. It is aromatic rosy green tea with hints of citrus, all of my favorite notes so beautifully executed. I wish I could smell like this all day long, but it won't last the first two hours of my day and let's be honest, it is kinda expensive to overspray. My bottle is almost empty and I will repurchase 100% but since it has such big issues with longevity it won't be a top priority. Even though it is considered as a summer scent, it also brings to my mind rainy days and white sweaters, so give it à try in autumn as well.

This is perfection in a minimalist and wonderful elegant way. Cardamom, citruses, tea, very soft flowers, green freshness and a soft but delicious base. Yes I would love having an eau de toilette with a longer life, but this was designed to be the way it is and this is what we have. Enjoy it for its ethereal and short presence or look somewhere else. Stop complaining about longevity and such things, this is how an eau de cologne “behaves”. I love reapplying it every now and then specially on hot days where Eau Parfumée au Thé Vert is an authentic soothing caress. A masterpiece by incredible Jean Claude Ellena!

Timeless, classy, absolutely gorgeous. This is a masterpiece and suits better women than men. It is an Eau Parfumée, which in Italian means perfumed water, aka Cologne - hence the poor longevity. But there's absolutely nothing alike it among the thousands of scents of similar notes. It's unmistakable, distinguished without being snobbish - demure, nonchalant class. I wore it when first launched, during one of the best summers of my life, when it was yet the first of its kind. And at today nothing compares to it. Forevermore love. PS: thank God this doesn't smell like Green tea. It's way above for quality!

Received this from my aunt a couple years ago and liked it so much I repurchased, even though I'm usually a fan of smokier, darker, more woody and animalistic notes. The tea note is interesting enough for it to not read as a boring grandma smell, and the powdery scents read pretty unisex even though another take on these same notes could totally create an ultra feminine scent. Overall it's such a crowd pleaser than even I like it in spite of it being outside of my usual taste. The inimate sillage also makes it a comforting bedtime or out of the shower scent.

This is class. I cannot understand why perfume has to be head-ache inducing and floral in top notes to be a great perfume. The subtleness, the quality, the sense of happiness induced by this fragrance cannot be equalled so far by the other green teas. Elizabeth Arden is pleasant enough but has none of the luxury and quality of the Bvlgari. It is just not in the same league. Chanel Eau Verte comes close but Bvlgari just beats it. I would try L'Occitane but think it is discontinued in UK. Wonderful, lush, fresh, calming, uplifting, love love love.......

Love this. It opens on me with an effervescence, like a tall glass of iced green tea spiked with ginger ale and a wedge of lime. Crisp and shower-fresh without soapiness. Complex and well-blended. Not a young girl’s fragrance. Clean but I don’t get any softness, and even on dry down there’s an elegant woody, green bite. A wealthy, confident, well-travelled, well read, sophistication here. It can be an evening fragrance as well, but it’s a chilled glass of Sauvignon Blanc, suntanned skin and white jeans after a day of sailing kind of evening.

My, this fragrance is fabulous. I was gifted a small sample of the lotion and fell in love with this fragrance. I purchased the eau perfume and I love the scent so much. It is a clean and refreshing scent but sadly it has no longevity. Once you spray and it dries down it is almost gone in a blink of an eye. Combining the lotion and EDT doesn't improve longevity :(. I categorize this as a nice lovely body splash. When I crave it I have to carry it in my bag so I can reapply it throughout the day because it does not last.

I have the body emulsion and I love it. I spritz it after a shower and it smells so clean and beautiful. I want to get the colgne spray. I don't really know how to describe it. It's very uplifting and soothing smell. I use it during the winter and it feels great, chase away the blues. Update: I finally got the biggest bottle of this. I can't emphasize how much I love this. I think it's one most versatile. I can probably wear this all year round. Can't wait to use in conjunction with the body emulsion. Smells heavenly!!!

At last! A Bvlgari scent I like! I knew there had to be one. This one smells like an Hermes, which is hardly surprising since it's one of (Hermes head perfumer) Jean-Claude Ellena's characteristic light, transparent constructions. I get the tea smell and I get the green notes... and it's also a wee bit floral as well. A good, summery scent, quite nice. -------- Second wearing: It's awfully light. Seems I have to use a lot to make it "register."

This is a great bed scent after you’ve changed the bedsheets. On me it smells aromatic sweet green. The bergamot is what I smell the most on myself. This is a perfect choice when you want to smell fresh and clean. I would layer this with Love in White by Creed, and perhaps with Rare Pearls by Avon. There are always options when you have an old fragrance and don’t really want to wear it by itself.

After wearing Escape in the early 90’s, I remember picking this up at the mall back in 1994. It was my first “grown up” fragrance. Love at first sniff. Something very different from what I was used to. Can’t believe that after all these years it still seems to smell the same. The performance has changed, but this is still the warm, citrusy, green tea scent that I fell in love with back then.

Beautiful! So fresh smelling. I mainly get the citruses right out of the gate but this evolves into something smoother – a clean, lemon and cardamom tea. I find it very sexy, in an unexpected way. This wears well in all seasons, but it's especially wonderful in hot weather because it has a refreshing effect.

CLASSIC. This is MY Chanel No 5. (My mother always wore No 5 - that was her Classic Scent while I was growing up... and I l o v e d it on her. Unfortunately, it smells icky on me.) For me, this is the Modern/Modern Woman's Chanel No 5. It's classy ~ with a crisp, sporty freshness. "Classy, with a Kick."

mt fave perfume and scent ever... had it growing it up gifted from someone and made my mum obsessed with it... cant get it here in a good size anymore unfortunately. will always rake out the cash to import it though because its the best. amazing if u love citrus perfumes and its very tea like. 11/10.

I've found it! The perfect summer scent for the nearly year round heat and humidity that I live in. The first Rush of delicious lime is uplifting and fresh and after 20 minutes turns sweet, as if the lime was dipped in honey. The dry down is effervescent clean with lime peeking through. Perfection!

I have an acquaintance who wears Loewe Aire as her signature. I have been trying to find something similar and this is very close. I LOVE the huge citrus burst, followed by the cardamom, and finally a soft pleasant skin smell. It will be a great traveling fragrance as it stays close to the skin.

Thé rouge is my favorite of this series so far, but this is a lovely post-shower clean smell. Same spicy tea dna, but with shampoo instead of the heavier rouge notes. I would say a safe blind buy if you like tea, and definitely an inoffensive “could wear anywhere” kind of fragrance.

Ok I'm sorry but this one has nothing to do with Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. Nope EA Green Tea is a refreshing fruity shampoo, this one is more serious with spices and some woods. The only note that stands out in both is the bergamont...not even the tea note used is the same.

This is a stunner of a fragrance for green notes lovers. Green tea, bergamot, lily of the valley and musk are the notes on offer. There's something quite feminine and almost floral about this fragrance that stops it from being a strict unisex. Definitely full bottle worthy.

I had a FB of this fragrance soooo many years ago. Got a new sample and I still love this sooo much. Just a delicious fresh green/tea/citrusy scent. Though I am not sure it has the sillage of the original version. Dabbed quite a bit and it is still very faint.

If you like Elizabeth Arden's Green Tea, this is like a higher quality, more sophisticated take on that type of scent. Green Tea is definitely the prominent note. The florals are subtle enough that masculine people can pull this off as a daytime Summer scent.

my mom has worn this forever and it smells soooo good. for me, this is cozy childhood memories in a bottle. i can see this being a very 90s cool girl unisex perfume; my mom is so very chic! it’s a light skin scent, super fresh and clean.

If, for whatever reason, you ever find yourself wishing that this scent could be bottled into a hair mask— try Japan’s Gyutto Hair Mask. It has a green tea and yuzu scent that brings me right back to this perfume.

I bought it because I could not get Au de Vert Extreme everywhere. This is softer edition of the extreme. I love them both of course. :) A fresh calming scent for me..Somehow green tea really calming and relaxing

I call this my "wear it to church so I can sit next to the lady who is allergic to perfume" perfume. I love the citrus beginning that mellows through the spicy heart notes into a lovely soft powdery scent.

Beautiful gorgeous citrus! I love it. I adore citrus, and this is fabulous. So fresh and clear and sparkling! Lasts so long too. Terrific, and the bottle is beautiful. Such a gorgeous colour - so elegant.

Totally in love with this. It's beautifully delicate and pure. Has the most amazingly creamy dry down notes and just makes me feel all cosy. A soft citrus and tea concoction, with rounded edges.

Lovely fresh tea scent,perfect for moms and babys! i have used it for me and to my baby since the first day of birht( during our stay in the hospital) a very calm and cool fragrance!.

The projection isn't amazing, but in a way I enjoy how intimate it is. I like this out of the shower or when i'm just enjoying a day to myself.

it's the best green tea fag with woodsy notes and fresh spices. after an hour, it starts to smell creamy. I'm really happy to have and use it.
