Gyan

Got a sample of this and wore it yesterday and quite enjoyed it. It's a very, very nice fragrance. Most people are saying that it's best for winter, fall and night time but on my skin, it felt warm but fresh and gave me a very versatile Bleu de Chanel kind of vibe. I think it could work any time of year and, if you can afford it, might even be a great signature scent. It lasted well over 8 hours on my skin. I always spray my shirt, too and I could still faintly detect it this morning. It's tied with Tygar as my favorite from "Bvlgari Le Collection Gemme" men's offerings. Overall, a very solid release but maybe not quite worth the price tag. Again, I find that Bleu de Chanel gives off a very similar vibe and it's more than half the price. If you can find this at discounters, then maybe it would be worth it but at retail price, I feel as though you can get a better fragrance for the price. If you love it, though and have the money, go for it but I would suggest getting a sample and testing it on yourself before dishing out the cash. Longevity : 8.5 (I got over 8 hours on my skin, longer on clothing) Projection : 8 (strong for the first 1.5 hours, then sits closer to the skin) Sillage : 8 (good but not great) Overall scent : 8 (smells expensive but not as expensive as it actually costs) I love it but not enough to spend almost $400 CAD for the full bottle. I wouldn't recommend blind buying it at that price.

At first smell, a very round, blue fragrance, patchouli with a very unisex and beautiful jasmine mixed in. But (particularly on my skin), as the Jasmine takes the back seat, your left with a very green - definitely masculine patchouli. This would not match a feminine person. But at the same time, it would not match a masculine person that goes for a weight-lifting persona. More on that later. The scent is interesting because it can become somewhat transparent. Directly, it seems to fade away or be less noticeable over time. Meanwhile, hours and hours after application, it can still fill a small room (like my office). My first instinct on patchouli is that it is very sensual. In the way musk is animalic, I always get a human quality from patchouli, as if I always imagine that it is mixed with a persons own scent and resonating from a warm body (trying to find a way to say sweat but in an attractive way). But, as I read the description from Bvlgari, my mind is totally shifted to understand their own vibe they attest to this scent - that this scent is fitted perfectly for a prince or aristocracy. Someone with a smart clever mind, and mindful of their style. However, as it's definitely masculine, it's not so masculine to fit a lumberjack. It's more for the aristocrat/politician/nobility. . .Something the prince would wear, but not the knight.

Pleasant, but very linear — in my opinion it smells the same from start to finish. Smelling the same for a long time will make it boring. Unfortunately, at this point the price feels quite expensive. Edit: I didn’t delete my initial impression; I wanted to comment on it so the difference could be seen. When I first tried it, the opening impressed me a lot — it smelled beautiful in the air — but on my skin it stayed very linear for a long time, always smelling the same, so I thought it didn’t deserve the price. When I saw it discounted, I gave it another chance and tried many fragrances from the Le Gemme series. Honestly, I realized what this series is trying to do: in a completely minimal way, to showcase the main accord using the highest-quality materials possible. That’s why it felt linear to me at first. But looking at it from this perspective, in terms of florals, this is about as naturally beautiful as it could be done for a man — a perfect execution in that sense. Similarly, the rose-themed fragrance called Garanat is also very linear, purely rose, but again, for a man, a rose fragrance could hardly be done more naturally and beautifully than this. I really liked both fragrances. Gyan is more practical and, because of its performance, it stands ahead for me, so I added it to my collection while it was on discount.

People really sleep on Gyan even though it smells divine and would be the perfect signature scent for a gentleman! This perfume walks the thin line between niche and designer; it does smell special yet you won't really offend anyone with it as expected from a private line release. Patchouli and Yasmine are the two main players here, but there is a little bit more to it than just that: Dry Citrus on top (smells like Orange to me, but it seems to be Bergamotte) that stays throughout the whole life span of the fragrance and some tame Smoke in the background that only joins in later. Personally, I would have enjoyed the Incense to be more pronounced even though that most likely would have made the scent less mass appealing overall. The performance sadly also isn't the best, I would call it mostly average. While it does linger as a skin scent for quite some time, it does not push out much after the first hour or so, which is a shame because as previously mentioned the fragrance really is special and deserves to be smelled by the people around you, especially with such a price tag! Then again, a gentleman scent is not supposed to do that, so I can see why it is not as strong as I would like it to be.

l love Bvlgari's private line the most out of all designer houses and most niche ones. Gyan was my first entry to the line, and boy, this stuff is an actual masterpiece. The scent is fantastically pachouli forward, but it's not the dark, chocolaty, or overly camphorus type...it's very sweet. That sweet earthiness of the pachouli intertwines with the light florals in a way that makes this scent almost perfect for year-round wear. The incense does add darkness (and balance), but it kind of hangs out in the background for the majority of Gyan's lifespan. Personally, I find it very masculine since it is a pachouli-forward fragrance. This stuff does project, so keep the sprays light (maybe 2-4ish?) if you wear it to the office or else you'll flood the conference room with your scent. For me, I like wearing it at night, specifically on date nights, because the incense note and light florals make it feel somewhat romantic, and women love it on me. I always get comments and complements by random people in my elevator, at a restaurant while waiting to be seated, or by my Uber drivers and I usually just tell them "it's a pachouli scent by Bull-Gary"...that's all they need to know. 9.6/10

As a patchouli fan, I had to test Gyan when I had the opportunity to find it in store, during a Rinascente shopping spree. It’s great, smells absolutely amazing, but I don’t think it’s worth the money! Unlike Orom, another fragrance from Le Gemme collection, Gyan is not a beast, with eternal longevity and massive sillage. Gyan lasts for almost ten hours with a moderate sillage, and because of this, I find the 350 euros price a bit too steep! Scent wise, it’s gorgeous!! A clean, fresh patchouli, nice and polite, non indolic jasmine and a subtle sweet incense in the background. It’s very smooth and nicely balanced and a very mass appealing type of patchouli. I’d say it’s the kind of patchouli that even people who don’t vibe with patchouli normally, would enjoy in Gyan. The incense is not churchy and overpowering, it’s mostly used for contrast against the jasmine and patchouli. Overall, I would give Gyan a 8/10 because the juice is gorgeous (I personally love all the notes used in this perfume) but the performance could be better for the astronomical price Bvlgari charges. Super happy to have the chance to try this beauty...Maybe one day I’ll get a small bottle..

When worn, Gyan is a sexy cloud of resinous smoky patchouli with a sweet jasmine sambac radiating from the center. The patchouli is not that "hippie smelling" patchouli; this is a rich and refined patchouli. Gyan is a smooth non-cloying fragrance (unless you really over do it) that can be worn anywhere - Black tie events, office, out with friends, or on a date with that special someone. Gyan gets a lot of unsolicited compliments and smells fantastic. Gyan projects around 2 meters (6ft) and leaves a nice smoky sweet jasmine trail of fragrance in your wake. As far as I am concerned, this is a year-round fragrance. Hot or cold weather, you will always smell great. Gender-wise Gyan would smell great on men and women 25+. Younger people that prefer fresh scents will probably not appreciate this as much. Gyan as well as the rest of the Le Gemme collection can only be purchased at a Bvlgari boutique online or in one of their brick and mortar locations. Gyan is signature scent worthy and a solid 10/10

I think it is perfectly unisex. For the price, the performance is very very disappointing. I recommend wear it on your skin and cloths for a day before purchasing. I felt bad and sad after I purchased it because no one noticed it. even after I ask "what do you think of my perfume?". My friends would have to really get close to sniff and finally notice it, and the reaction would be, oh its nice... -.- Now, I started to really over spray, I am treating it like a $50 cologne. Only now, I am feeling happy about it. The other day my mother told me that I smell like a Chanel's perfume, that's her way of saying it is smells elegant and expensive. Also, my sister sprayed it and she said, this smells like me! Finally some recognition. You know, because this is not a cozy perfume meant to be for personal use, no, this is a statement perfume that if you spray it, you want others to notice it a bit. At least that's my opinion.

Gosh this smells so beautiful. I think Tygar has a competitor but idk if it’s better yet, haven’t worn it enough. I hate that fragrantica hasn’t posted the rest of the notes. Initially with Tygar they just had grapefruit, woods & ambroxan. Now they have a few others which I’m hoping they will do with this beautiful Gyan. I did some research and these are the official notes. Top: Bergamot & Sicilian orange Mid: Jasmine Sambac & Sichuan pepper Base: Patchouli, cedarwood & incense I could’ve sworn there was some sort of leather accord. There is an attractive dirtiness under all the sweet spicyness but maybe that’s the patchouli. I love this scent. I’d say it’s a year round fragrance but I wouldn’t wear it in super high heat, that’s what Tygar is for! :) I’m a huge fan of these 2 from this pvt line. The rest I don’t care much for. I got an amazing deal on this $269 shipped on eCosmetics after a discount.

I obtained a few decants over the late summer and forgot that I had them until this morning before work. I spritzed and was quite impressed. It’s fantastic. Best of all, it passed the wife test. She generally hates most of my fragrances. When I came home, she commented on how great I still smelled. You must understand. This never happens. 2025 Update: My wife purchased it as a Xmas gift for me. I unwrapped it at our family Xmas Eve gathering, gave myself a spray and nuked my in-law’s living room. They made me sit outside in the cold for 20 minutes. Projection initially is monstrous but it dries down nicely. They enjoyed it once it started to dry down. It’s pretty linear, but I appreciate its consistency. Easily one of my favorite patchouli forward fragrances.

Somehow, my mother got this cologne for free and gave it to me. I took one sniff and was blown away. It's very smooth and well-blended; the average nose (like mine) won't be able to identify any specific notes besides incense and patchouli. It's a woody-citrus that is a bit lighter than these notes suggest. I would wear this any season besides summer and be careful about over-spraying. It's not for everyday wear unless you are a mature, put-together man in at least his late 20s. The person I picture is in this is in his 30s or 40s -- a very elegant and professional looking guy. I'm thinking of passing it off to my boyfriend -- this is something he would wear on date nights or more formal events.

a great combination of citrus,incense,Patchouli,some spice and oud very Well blended smooth and rounded that I can barely tell the single note. on the paper I can smell citrus ,spices, wood ,leather and blue aquatic note but on the skin its just different story the projection is much better what I got is more of incense, oud with citrus and white flowers note in the backgrounds this one is very classy and wealthy smell somehow reminded me the vibe of amouage and some of Memo paris perfume maybe because of frankincense. To me Gyan is so elegant and not loud. as a women I would love to smell this on a man and also like to wear it myself.

This gorgeous offering skilfully combines three elements, jasmine; patchouli and incense to create a true original that evokes the smoky sweet smell and feel of flower garland and incense laden Indian temples. Gyan, translates as knowledge in Sanskrit, is not a loud floral fragrance. It is a classy, understated floral incense with very high quality elements that retains a masculine feel (although perfectly unisex IMO). The ambience is spiritual, reflective and reverent, perfectly capturing the namesake of this very original beauty. Pricey, yes, but worth it for lovers of eclectic woody floral scents. Outstanding!

Really refined and soft. A bit synthetic but I reckon this has been done on purpose. Actually that just adds to the scent's character. The main note is patchouli, but instead of being earthy, this is airy. Could be unisex, but it lacks sweetness to be feminine. Overall it gives an elegant, smooth appearance which is really nice. Unique as well, I have smelled over 1000 fragrances but couldn't come up with something similar. Also versatile and non offensive. Can be a great office scent, or for special occasions. Or both. I like it so much I bought a backup. Just in case :) 8-8,5/10

My God, can a fragrance really be this classy? Gyan is the perfect example of how less can truly be more. Every time I wear it, I'm reminded that Jacques Cavallier Belletrud is one of the greatest masters of modern perfumery. Creating this level of depth, elegance, and emotion with just three notes is nothing short of extraordinary. To me, Gyan isn't simply a beautiful fragrance, it's proof that perfumery can be a form of art. And Jacques Cavallier Belletrud is undoubtedly one of the true masters of that art.

Wowsers! This smells absolutely incredible! Its like the ultimate quality expression of a mass appealing scent profile, that on the surface seems familiar, but nothing quite matches this over the top level of luxury and sophistication. Yes, its Jasmine, Patchouli and Incense, in that order, but blended in a way that it doesn't smell like any of those in isolation, rather the blend brings out the best aspect of all the individual notes and leaves us with this breathtakingly beautiful fragrance.

IMO this is JC’s best work in the summer freshie genre. It’s a slightly spiced opening followed by a lovely jasmine over incense base. Very unique. Blue Laverne I felt lacked the depth and quality but gives an overall vibe if you care about the price then you can get that. Obviously Gyan has amazing performance. Price at retail is an insane $529 but can be found at discounters $235 which is barely tolerable for the 125ml. If you love the LV line up of freshies I would look here.

This stuff smell gorgeous. I love it. But it doesn’t work in the summer (at least not on my skin) I think the hi humidity kills it. It starts out great, but then the heat and humidity makes it turn dark and into a skin sent quickly. However in the dryness of winter, this shines ! The beautiful smell you get is amazing. You want to keep smelling the area that you applied it to. You get nice clean whiffs of this gorgeous smell wafting from time to time. Really is a crowd pleaser.

This is truly amazing. Slight citrus off the top that quickly transitions into a jasmine / patchouli accord with an incense touch. It's floral and earthy, with an opulent quality. This is a fragrance for niche lovers who don't want to smell like a barnyard. This is an instant rebuy for me when my 30ml travel decant runs out, and it's one of the few I would consider worth retail price. Performance is strong, quality is top tier, and the scent is both unique and incredible.
