Le Gemme Tygar Extrait

Okay okay okay. After a solid month of owning and wearing Tygar Extrait in various situations and moods, I’m finally ready to review. Let’s get straight to the comparison: The EDP and Extrait share the same core DNA, but they don’t play the same game at all. Where the EDP sparkles and fizzes right off the skin, the Extrait works differently. It anchors itself and simmers quietly. The two present themselves very differently and take very distinct approaches. Think of the Extrait as the cooked-down, concentrated reduction of the EDP: all the citrus cooked together until the water evaporates, the flavors blend, and you’re left with something thicker, richer, and more dimensional. THEN add a sueded and earthy backbone. The Extrait is a syrupy, thick blend with that grounded earthy undertone running through the entire wearing. It takes the familiar DNA and passes the torch straight into grown-man territory. This isn’t the “young man” scent that Tygar EDP can sometimes present as. It’s the new-school evolution of a “mature” fragrance. To me, this is solid masculine for those that are 30 and up. That earthy/suede foundation hit me immediately and never left. At first I wasn’t too sure about it, but it threaded through every phase and strengthened until it fully claimed the dry down. I figured out that THAT aspect itself became my absolute favorite part of the entire fragrance structure. I absolutely love love love this one. While the DNA corresponds with the EDP (and the rest of its cousins), the Extrait is straight-up king for me. As a man in his late 30s, this is it, the best, most elevated version of this profile in the game. If this were just a cynical money-grab release, I’d be the first to call it out and skip it entirely. But Bvlgari took a new path here, and that’s exactly what I personally love about it. They reimagined the DNA by adding maturity and depth. That said, know what you’re signing up for before dropping the +$400. This is a serious investment in something richer, slower, and more demanding of patience. Sampling is non-negotiable—test it on your skin over days, in different moods and weather, because it reveals itself gradually. But once it clicked for me? This stuff became exceptional. Deep, sophisticated, and worth it.

I’m a big fan of the OG and so I was excited to see an extrait was being released. It’s everything I hoped it would be. Recognisable enough to be Tygar but not just a stronger carbon copy. It’s richer, deeper and much more intense. I'd say it's a more niche smelling version of the original. Very alluring and addictive. I find the citrus is sharper and a touch sweeter, more like rind and the body is darker and spicier, but it still has that unmistakable Tygar dna. The ambroxan is replaced with a more natural smelling ambergris accord so it does lose the fizzy, musky aspect of the OG and I detect some patchouli, which gives it a slight earthy texture. I’m not so keen on this note but it does die back. As it dries down, it becomes balsamic, softer and warmer, with the citrus becoming less sharp. This is my favourite part as I can find the top notes a little heavy and intense. It starts off quite nuclear with a candied grapefruit and ginger, but dies down as most extraits do, with a nice amount of noticeable projection without being overbearing. Longevity is excellent. A wonderful alternative to one of my favourite fragrances. Perhaps not as versatile as the original but can still be used for a variety of occasions and seasons. I probably still prefer the OG because I love its muskiness but this is a fantastic edition, which significantly improves on performance and compliments the original Tygar very well. In fact, they both layer really nicely with the OG lifting the extrait, making it a little brighter (I layered both for my work’s Xmas party and I’ve never had so many compliments). Finally, the Le Gemme presentation is great - I absolutely love the bottles, which come with a fantastic sprayer. My fragrance of the year.

shakhruh2000 I have Vibrato too and it’s probably my least favourite of that type of dna because of the powdery note you mention. It loses the lightness and feels a bit dense to me. I find the extrait sharper and sweeter in the top notes compared to the OG so you may well like it but it is different to the original with certain aspects ramped up and others dialled down. It’s an interpretation of the original. I really like this new version but I do slightly prefer the OG because I like the musky ambroxan, which this is missing. The extrait misses that fizzy opening of the OG and the citrus is denser, more like rind than the actual fruit. After the initial spray, I get a very dense grapefruit and ginger smell which feels more candied up top, which may not be to everyone’s taste. I think it depends what people like about the OG because certain elements are missing whilst other parts are very much amplified. It’s a much better performer though. It definitely needs a test because I’m not sure it’s blind buy worthy based on the OG scent profile alone. Hope this helps.

This is the most rich, luxurious, decadent fragrance that I own. It is a masterclass in sophistication. The ingredients are sparce and its not confusing at all. Its absolutely stunning! True to its extrait form, it doesn't project much, but it is still highly detectable from others. I put on one tester spray to see how many I need for the night at work and my daughter complained that it was too strong. I still applied 3 more sprays before work. Its a true feat to make citrus last for 8+ hours, but here we are. The amber is interesting. It doesnt come off as synthetic, but it doesnt have the animalic presence of ambergis. Its not a sweet amber either. Its perfect! Its incredibly expensive. I paid $35 for a 5ml and I plan to cherish it. I am going to go 9.25 on this one. I hope that Montagne does a rendition of this because their Tyga Cologne is spot on and one of their best offerings. Hell... id pay $100 for it if they were able to match this quality.

Extraits are rarely an improvement on any original, but this time it really is the case. These three points make Tygar Extrait the better version for me: a) It’s definitely got better longevity, lasts on skin till the next day. Sure, nobofy needs a scent to do that, but nice to know a few spritzes in the morning last well into the after-work hours. The original is much less there even after just three hours. b) The extrait is also stronger to begin with; feels like it has twice the body and projection. c) Most importantly, it’s the richer composition. The stronger amber note gives it not just more sweetness but also more depth and warmth. It’s a stunning scent; surprised at just how much better it’s turned out. It’s def. a rare 10/10.

This is better than the original in my opinion. This has like a pink lemonade mixed with grapefruit opening, that then blends with smooth woods. I dont get much amber, but wow is this great. I purchased a 60 ml ended up going back for the 125ml. Ive been wearing this the last 3 days, and I NEVER wear the same thing back to back. I like to switch it up, however something in this has me addicted! Its expensive, is it worth 650 after tax? No nothing really is, but you can't put a price on something if it speaks to you like this joint does for me. I liked the original but wasn't moved to purchase it, this was an entirely different story.

The extrait is a serious upgrade in my opinion. They’ve still retained the original Tygar DNA whilst improving certain aspects. Firstly the extrait is much smoother. The original had a sharpness to it which I could never get behind & is the reason why I sold my bottle of Tygar. They’ve also added some warmer notes such as amber, ambergris and Peru balsam providing much more depth and complexity whilst also improving the versatility, I’d wear this in much more situations than the OG. The EDP still has its uses, it’s a great (day out) type of summer fragrances whereas the Extrait is more for dressed up evening occasions.

The Extrait just touched down and it’s a stunna! 2 sprays and it’s heavy on the patchouli and ambergris way less ambroxan. In the heart has a LV Lovers vibe no pickle though. More citrusy woods instead of just citrus. Turns into an all year round signature scent in my opinion. Performance is about 7-12 hours and projection is wonderful for the first 3-4 hours maybe more as you go nose blind. After 4 hours still catch wafts of it. Far dry down is magical. This is the luxury scent most people have been waiting for.

This is one of those rare fragrances that makes me want to keep smelling my wrist—it’s addictive. People often point to the amber, but the real star here is the ambergris. Jacques Cavallier has masterfully balanced its salty, mineral, and animalic facets of ambergris with a vibrant citrus opening. It’s also got this warm, balsamic, spicy backbone that rounds everything out. It’s a unique, versatile, and high-performing scent that fits any occasion perfectly. Rating: 8/10

@davewest I have the hedonist extrait too and it’s a similar vibe in comparison to the hedonist OG and how they reimagined the extrait. Tygar extrait doesn’t smell exactly the same as the Hedonist extrait but just as that is richer and darker, so is Tygar extrait. They’re both great fragrances and as I love that type of dna, I don’t find owning both redundant. It’s personal choice and I’m not sure which one I prefer.

An extremely crowd-pleasing fragrance—I didn’t think it was possible to make Bvlgari Tygar more versatile, but the Extrait version does exactly that. It introduces notes that make it much more wearable for formal occasions and evening events. The Extrait version adds more depth and a niche touch to it. It’s Tygar with a darker, spicier vibe—perfect for the CEO of a multi-million-dollar company 🤣

Very much the same profile as the original but with a more straightforward citrus opening with an extra ambery sweetness with a dark woody dry down that really differentiates it and then sweetens at the tail end. Personally I prefer the OG for the ginger and cool freshness that persists and stays rather linear while this has a more nuanced dry down; to each their own

It is overpriced but you can get it a at a much better price in some Duty Frees. Having said that. It is a masterpiece. It is amazing, long lasting and unforgettable. Better, darker and deeper than the original. I understand people les Ing bad reviews because they can’t afford it, but you have e to learn to deal with that in Fragantica....The sour grapes thing.

Words can't do this scent justice. It's absolutely incredible. Still keeps the iconic Tygar citrus ginger opening but dries down into this glowing ambergris and even spicier ginger. Lasts around 10 hours and projects for the first 4-5. On clothes it lasts even longer 10/10 just so pricy. Cavellier made a masterpiece once again

@philball I personally prefer the juicy, slightly sweet scent that comes after Tygar’s opening rather than the opening itself. I purchased Vibrato, but there is a powdery note in it that bothers me. It also feels quite different from Tygar overall. Do you think I might enjoy the Extrait version? What is your opinion?

Absolutely beautiful, I own the OG and the extrait and prefer the extrait. It still has that tygar dna but it’s darker, thicker and just better. The ginger stays longer in the extrait and as you’d expect it performs much better, the price is shocking but it’s a gorgeous fragrance

I already own the OG (Tygar) and while at Bloomingdales yesterday I had a chance to try the extrait version. As I am writing this, I am smelling the test strip that I brought home with me. I am really enjoying this fragrance, so much so I am going to pick it up next weekend.

It is definitely a more mature, more masculine, and better-performing version of Tygar. However, the price is extremely, extremely high. I still believe there’s no real reason to buy it when Vibrato exists—especially when there’s a threefold price difference between them!!

@philball thank you very much. I think the Extrait version would suit me well. I really love Tygar, and in any case my nose can handle it. I’m getting very curious about it. If the Extrait has noticeably better longevity and sillage, I will definitely buy it.

Absolutely stunner masterpiece this is same of very early tyger versons with more depth , more mature , more smoky and more formal performance is excellent the price is too high especially this vibe is common now

Green grapefruit zest with leather and amber. Powerful, addictive, and long-lasting.

There's an ambery sweetness that reminds me of Aventus Absolu. Probably some modern base like Ambranum with Vanillin and Isobutyl Quinoline layered on a patchouli canvas. Since even latest Dior Homme Sport has IBQ why Tygar's Extrait can't have it? Plus, Jacques Cavallier and Francois Demachy are good friends, they obviously share ideas with each other. A lot of bergamot in the opening. You can clearly tell by its citrusy sweet splash that is characteristic to bergamot oil with high Limonene content. Super ambers are still present and here they're helping to lift heavy ambery notes. I wonder if they kept 20% of Ambroxan. Classical Tygar looks dull in comparison to this one. In Extrait you don't have those powdery notes of iris and it's a plus for me. For now I see this whole category of Tygar-like fragrances this way: Kajal III (daily) > Tygar Extrait (evening) = The Hedonist Extrait > Burlington 1819 > Tygar = The Hedonist

So after spending a week or so with this one, and then reminding myself of the OG, I've decided it doesn't have the magic of the original Tygar. Missing is the sparkly ginger, and the dry-mineralic, slightly spicy drydown that I love in the OG is still there... but overshadowed by a generic amber sweetness that, admittedly, lasts an impressively long time. In the opening of the extrait I think I smell a sour patchouli lurking underneath the citrus. Overall, a solid fragrance. However, I'm not a huge fan of adding sweetness to this DNA. If our man Jacques would've added a bit more of his ambergris from LV Pur Ambre, WATCH OUT that would be on my shelf yesterday.

This is definitely a darker take on the DNA. I believe I am smelling the ambergris heavy in this one. I am not as huge as a fan as my mom was with this one. Though I will say its not bad by any means just not my taste. This could absolutely be worn year-round.

@DrArvinAr yeah, at least the batch that I've got. GC/MS report shows ~ 2.00% Dihydro Beta Ionone and 0.15% Tetrahydro Ionone. Also 0.50% of fractionated ylang-ylang oil adds fatty powderiness akin to iris.

Good scent, but I can see why it may have lost a little bit of its luster in modern day.projects a little weak on my skin - would the the citrus be be a little more prominent. I can't justify the price

Very citrus focused perfume, dry down the Peru balsam just lingers on and on. Leans masculine! I would recommend, nice scent.

Well, @Smellycat801 nailed it, this is Tygar with the animalic part of Layton Xclusif (or Pegasus Xclusif). I am so disappointed in this, and very relieved that I didn't go through with the blind buy I was considering for Christmas. Does it smell expensive and well blended? Sure. Is it more suitable for Winter and night than the OG? Absolutely. Is it worthy of being in the Bulgari private line? Considering the rest of the scents, it belongs in the line more than Tygar does. Is there any redundancy to the og and all the inspirations and clones? Minimal, it is borderline a different perfume. Do I, as a Tygar worshipper, like it? HELL NO!!! The animalic ambergis is just too strong and present for too long, it tones down the freshness of the opening, and the signature Tygar grapefruit is mixed with it along with something lemony that makes the citrus part more astrigent. The performance is better than Tygar in the longevity department, as well as projection, though it doesn't cut through the air in the same way. The og is after all worse performing than Vibrato, Turanthi Blue, Kajal III and both of The Hedonist versions. Tygar Extrait sits on par with The Hedonist Extrait in performance. Smells nothing alike, as Jordi Fernandez really found a way to make the extrait deeper and darker without diverging much from The Hedonist. I don't really hate the scent in the air, it's a 6/10, but sniffing closer to the skin is giving PDM Xclusif vibes and I hate these. Considering the elevated cost and how different it feels and wears to the og, this gets an OK. Sorry. I expected something in the lines of BDC L'exclusif tbh, we just got the xclusif part. If I were in the mood for animalic citrus I would wear Lucius, Town & Country or Bergamask/Risvelium before conteplating Tygar Extrait. Bulgari would have made millions by releasing a cheaper Tygar to their department store line, it is proven that the DNA is adored at every price point. They get a pass because this truly fits better in the private line. And I bet it will sell well to people who like Orom, Kobra etc. But hardcore Tygar fans will probably stick to the og.

Smells much earthier than the original. Like you took a grapefruit and rubbed some dirt on it. The tygar DNA is there but in the background. Kinda reminds me of Mont Blanc Explorer Extreme from it, especially in the late drydown Im pretty sure this has moss in it even if its not in the notes. Definitely more manly and for those that like an old school bitter citrus scent

The opening is very similar to Tygar but this one is a darker, more ambery version of the original. However, it lacks the aggressive ginger aroma that makes Tygar what it is. I’d stick with the original.

i dont like this one, the freshness and brightness from the og were stripped, replaced by strong stinky oud and balsamic notes that reminded me of cough syrup. not pleasant to wear for hot humid summer

I’ve been trying it from a decant ever since it came out and decanters got a hold of it in the states. I consider Tygar to be my signature scent for a while due to its versatility and freshness all the while having a dark feel to it. Tygar extrait absolutely nailed it for me in being a successor to the EDP in terms of loyalty to the original in smell and feel, just made much longer lasting and deeper. Yes, the extrait isn’t as bright citrusy at first but grapefruit isn’t meant to last the whole lifetime of either Tygar. In the edp, once it drys down it turns purely into an ambroxan musk bomb that weans off your skin within 2-3 hours. The extrait adds that ambergris accord. Whether real ambergris was used or not, I can definitely detect it in the drydown (I have smelled real ambergris). I’m guessing they blended a small amount of ambergris with their usual ambroxan that gives it a much more luxurious feel and slightly salty finish. Peru balsam was also a surprise but compliments the composition with the balsamic and piney undertones. Overall it’s a deeper, richer, longer lasting, true-to-itself version of tygar. TroyD247 on YouTube perfectly described tygar extrait to me as well if you’d rather listen to a review. I had a weird interaction with a Nordstroms fragrance manager, asking when it would be available in the states. She said sometime early 2026 but not exactly sure. I then offered her and another sales rep to try the extrait to which they both refused almost as if I had fart spray in there and was trying to prank them. I think as soon as they realized I knew too much about fragrances and wasn’t going to pay retail they absolutely couldn’t give a shit lol. I think some sales reps also hate decanters because they asked where I got it from and even asked for his information (not surprising the industry hates when people distribute decants and won’t just buy their fragrances at absurd prices from mere first impression).

Well, gotttttdamn, this stuff is absolute flames. Make no mistake, if you smell this without comparing it to the OG side-by-side, you'll know this is Tygar. But, when you put them next to each other, this is where the extrait absolutely shines. I'll be honest, I have Tygar EDP, but I kind of got sick of wearing it a while back, so I probably haven't touched it for 5-6 months. Spraying it tonight reminded me just how good it really does smell. The extrait though...oh my goodness. It was the extrait I never knew I needed. The amber and peru balsam give the OG a much-needed backbone. I think the reason why I got tired of the OG was that after a while, it kind of started feeling one-dimensional. The extrait fixes this. It still has that wonderful grapefruit we have all come to know and love, but it removes the insane amount of ambroxan and stiffens it up a bit with deeper/slightly darker character. The balsam in this is just spectacular. This stuff is so refined, elegant, and rich. A+ for this extrait flanker. Pure heat.

For those asking "why unisex" a better question is "why would anyone GENDER a fragrance at all?" Saying a perfume is for males or females is nonsensical... It's like gendering a wine or a color.. drink what you like and wear what you like... Some women love a 20-yr old scotch and a cigar and some men drive a pink Benz... At LEAST half the fragrances I wear regularly were marketed to women (especially vintage stuff) and I suspect 20 years from now that will COMPLETELY be a thing of the past... And anyway, try a vintage Chanel No.19 on and try figuring out why would be considered a "women's" perfume and then there's Dior Homme Parfum or Gaultier's Le Male and even Guerlain Habit Rouge, all of which could EASILY be called "feminine"... I wear "women's" fragrances (even extraits) ALL the time and I get compliments ALL the time and nobody has EVER asked me "is that a women's perfume?"... Not once. Seriously wear whatever you fancy... Life is short.

🧐 I have every reason to believe that this will be the most graceful and refined fragrance (along with the little-known opalon), not only in the bvlgari line, but also in the Cavalier fragrances of recent years. There's ambergris here, that's the thing. It's my favorite note. Cavalier is the one who works with her most gracefully. It is enough to recall the great fragrance Bvlgary aqva atlantiqve. The strongest fragrance of the generation. Which has been discontinued. For unclear reasons so far. So, thanks to ambergris and Peruvian balsam, it has to be better and more interesting than ordinary tygar, which contains nothing but grapefruit and ambroxan.

Didn’t like this... it’s a sweeter thicker Tygar. I’ve smelled my fair share of sweet Tygar inspired fragrances and Tygar being the best one didn’t need a drop more of anything sweet. If anything it needs to be stronger, or smokier, salty, idk but sweetness with a lot of coumarin and cheap amberwoods and dpg to make it thicker was the last thing it needed. In fact, I had The Key by Vivamour, inspired by Tygar also and got rid of it bc it was too sweet and thick, well, this one smells like that clone now. Full circle. It’s not a bad fragrance, don’t get me wrong but this flanker direction is not of my liking, it can be yours tho.

So... heres my review. I got a 8 ml sample and wore it many times. When I first tried it, I didnt like it that much but I thought it was okay. Then I kept wearing it and I like it more and more. I didnt like the original that much but this one has more depth and more interesting. Definitely better in the fall and spring weather. Its like the original but heavier and ambery. I didnt want to like it beacuse of the price but I think I will buy a bottle. Jacques Cavallier makes another banger. I hope they make an Imagination Extrait soon.

A deeper and more intense version of the original Tygar. The grapefruit bomb that explodes at the beginning is vibrant. The citrus opening is sharp but not harsh, immediately balanced by the mineral, salty, and slightly animalistic touch of ambergris. In the middle and base layers, amber and Peruvian balsam come into play, making the scent warmer and thicker. It doesn't feel artificial at all. Suitable for summer and spring. For those seeking a clean yet powerful feel. I think it's a bit more mature and luxurious than the original.

Tygar for the Winter. Juicy Grapefruit and ginger at the opening then they disappear into a woody spicy balsamic tinge of amber scent, grapefruit and ginger become noticeable again later into the drydown but are rather light in comparison to the woodiness. If you’re considering buying this in hopes it’s a stronger OG however if you’re looking for a twist on this DNA this is right up your alley. It’s dark, and rather well blended. Not what I expected but even at its price point I will be keeping my bottle.

Very intense ginger bomb. Take the tygar DNA and hit it with steroids. Add an ambery animalic flair to it. It honestly in the opening goes a little too far 😂😂 I do get some of that balsamic flair to it as well. But the dry down reveals the tygar dna we all know and love. Longevity is pretty nice. Projection alright too. All said and done, I prefer the OG to this. This isn’t necessary for someone who has the OG. Honestly, I prefer Vibrato to this if I’m being real haha.

A slightly more balsamic and ambery version of the original. I still smell ambroxan. Ginger isn't listed as a note but as this dries I still do pick up on at least a ginger accord. Overall, not much of a change from the original regarding the scent I'd say this is a better buy than the original if you want a more performant fragrance. If you're the type of person to think the original is worth $500 than you're probably going to be satisfied with the extrait's value

Not fair to the others lol. Nuclear candied grapefruit-and-ginger opening + expensive citrus, punches you right in the face, then melts into ambergris, amber and balsam. Stupid longevity +10h. Still on your shirt the next morning. Versatile too (IMO good for night time, date nights) bright, evening deep, pure CEO energy. 10000/10. Cavallier cooked. Blind buy, no notes. The bottle that makes the rest of the shelf jealous hehe

Deeper, darker compared to the OG. You can detect Tygar DNA but this is a different beast. This is not just a stronger, longer lasting Tygar EdP. It’s unique. It amplifies the OG vibe, but is not as light or airy. It’s powerful, and long lasting. Definitely not fleeting. A little goes a long way. Not a blind buy. You really need to test this on skin. Like most fragrances, you’ll either love it or you won’t. I love it.

It is OG Tyger plus strong ambery woody dose! Yet, I like and enjoy OG Tyger as its vibes and sillage is superior! On other hand, I personally prefer Yasep over this flanker! Lastly, it is so disappointing to see all big names in this industry just following this trend of EXTRIAT and loosing the creativity or introducing such original creation! Really this industry is sinking down big time!!
