Malakeos

Now this is a rarely acknowledged, hard to find fragrance in the La Gemme Collection. Truly an exceptional barbershop-style fougere fragrance. After finally getting my nose on Rive Gauche, I see the similarities. I had someone blind sniff this and they immediately said "shaving cream" which I think hits the nail on the head with what this fragrance is trying to convey. @Ferra_Verto said is beautifully "like taking a hot shower in Rive-Gauche scented water." The way this fragrance performs is interesting, upon my first ever test I could not smell anything whatsoever. Perhaps my nose just needed some time to come around to it. A bit ethereal in nature, with delicate, herbal, creamy ingredients that lend to a transportive wearing experience. 10/10 especially if you like this genre

Bvlgari Le Gemme Malakeos. This stunning fougere fragrance has just arrived in the post this afternoon and I couldn't be happier with my purchase. I've been testing this on and off for a few years now and have only just been in the right position to splash out for a full bottle. To my nose it's like a cross between YSL's Rive Gauche Pour Homme, Tom Ford's Beau de Jour, and Memo's Russian Leather. It's more minty than Rive Gauche, a bit dirtier than Beau de Jour and less pine/leathery than the Memo but it gives the overall impression of a classic Fougere that's been tweaked by a master perfumer. 5 stars and 2 thumbs up!

It is a classic one with good quality ingredients. This reminds me of a Tundra forest in spring weather. The oak moss is for sure the dominant one in it . It starts with fresh citrus lavender vibe but not powdery at same time. The lavender fades away and the oakmoss + carnation take over. Carnation adds a spicy vibe to it(feels like a soft clove )and gives it a warm character. At the mid and end it reminds me of a dense fur Reindeer in a Spring Eating the oakmoss in Tundra forest and I am observing it from a far distance. I said far distance because there is hint of musk also in it .

Should be on your list to try if you like aromatic fougeres. Similar to Rive Gauche but not as refined. I’d say it’s a little more “spikey” than RG. I’ve worn this for just about every situation and every weather. It’s not nuclear or carry massive projection but it does last for a solid 6-8 hours. I’m not sure you’d want a fragrance like this to be beast mode anyways. I’ve put my nose on as many Le Gemme’s as possible and this one still comes out on top!! Cheers!!

Please deliver my words to Bvlgari to continue release of Malakeos, because there is nothing like Malakeos in Fragrance world, please im begging to return and personally me Ill get several to have until the end of my life 😁 Having 2 for over 2 years and it never gets boring, it is always same sexy, young blood is rushing while im smelling it. In the club girls are dying while they're smelling it. Please, get Malakeos back.

A lovely aromatic fougere which evokes the scents and smells of Russian forests in the summer. The perfume opens with a burst of lavender and minty geranium before going into a deep woody heart accentuated by guaiac. The perfume settles on a mossy powdery base of musk and oakmoss. Beautifully blended masculine leaning scent with moderate to strong projection and sillage and good longevity. A perfect gentleman scent. Enjoy!

Not only was this not "that bad of a fragrance", its quite probably the most exceptional fougere ever created. The reason it was "literally erased from the face of the planet", is because the people who did get to experience it, generally recognised it for what it is, a fougere masterpiece, and snapped up remaining stock once it was discontinued, too precious to decant for those who unfortunately missed it..

This is a Aromatic Fougere masterpiece and it reminds me of “The Tragedy of Lord George." Although, the price tag is rather hefty for a fougere, but the quality of this one may justify it. Side note: I look forward to giving it a full wearing and then making a decision from there. Because out of 15 samples, this is the only one that really stood out for me.

This is just another classic, generic, and masculine men’s fragrance, and I love it. Perfumer is the same nose behind Rive Gauche. This appears to be a fresher and modernized take of the YSL classic. Malakeos is mature but not dated. Longevity and projection are good.

What a slept on fragrance that’s literally erased from the face of the planet. Not even the internet wanted this fragrance to exist, because you can’t find a sample of this anywhere... let alone of a bottle of it. Jeeze everybody... it wasn’t that bad of a fragrance.

This is an amazing modern and luxurious fougere for men. If you love fougere fragrances then you really must give this a try. It's super expensive but it's amazing. 10/10.

Nice minty opening and the dry down is like you’re fresh out of the shower. Turned to skin scent in about 3-4 hrs.

Return this item back to Le Gemme Collection!!! Without it this collection is falling

This reminds me of a highly refined version of Brut (or at least what I remember Brut to smell like as I haven’t used it a quite a while). Very nice bitter aromatic opening with the lavender and a little mintyness from the geranium. The dry down is a clean musky wood, but it never fully loses the aromatic quality of the opening it just gets muted a bit. The projection on me is slightly better than moderate for the first 2.5 hours, and slowly progresses to a strong skin scent for the rest of the 6-8 hour total longevity. The sillage on this one is quite good (not too overpowering but present). I left my office for a few minutes and could smell it when I returned, and this was 4 hours after application. It is quite a pleasant scent, and is definitely classic and gentlemanly. The price may be high for the type of fragrance it is, but the quality is definitely there and the packaging is very nice. Worth a sniff if you’re into this sort of fragrance!

greatly enjoyable. soft performance. rive gauche vibes for sure. stronger/more mondern amber base in comparison. the transition is abrupt from top straight to bottom like you peeled the top notes off. Malakeos is my least favorite in the entire line and it is still amazing. this is one of my favorite lines in all of perfumery. very original scent structures and blends. nothing really smells like this line. i know i just compared this to rive gauche but taken as a whole, the le gemme line has a polished, masterful personality, structure and aura. truly works of art.

Lovely spicy fougere; minty oakmoss becomes a powdery and spicy lavender, gets a bit musky on the drydown. Feels like taking a hot shower with Rive Gauche-scented water. Perfect for warm weather, needs heat to properly shine. Doesn't go above arms' length, but lasts all day.

I bought it at a 50% discount. If it wasn't on sale, I wouldn't have bought the whole bottle. Good fougere scent. On my skin, it lasts about 6 hours with a moderate projection for the first hour. It reminds me a bit of YSL Rive Gauche pour Homme. People thought I smelled like Brut. In the TOP 10 fougere!

I've owned this for a while, and although it always reminded me of vintage Rive Gauche, the notes listed by the brand kept throwing me off. There's a lot more going on in the top and mid notes on that didn't make sense according to the note pyramid. I smell lavender EO and absolute, banana peel, violet, carnation,(tuberose?) and narcissus. A weird combo that I've learned to enjoy, now that I know what I'm smelling. There's also some rose/geranium, cardamom and star anise for good measure. The base notes to my nose are patchouli, leather, coumarin/hay, oakmoss, ambrox, a microdose of civet and some other expensive-smelling musks, as well as frankincense (that same note that's in most of, if not all, of the high end Bulgari La Gemme fragrances). Gaiac wood provides a smoky/buttery/fatty facet to the base. The strangest part of the fragrance however is this piercing, extremely loud "fresh" accord, that smells like the 1990s. Something along the lines of Dyhydromercenol, but Im not enough of a chemist or perfumer to know exactly what I'm smelling. Overall, Malakeos is a fougere on steroids (ambrox brings the coumarin and florals to level 100), that smells like if Grey Flannel and Rive Gauche had a baby (but very modernized of course). If this is your genre, you'll love it. Otherwise, the classical fougere, even when powered by ambrox, can come off as dated to modern noses. I believe that's why this wasn't a top selling fragrance and was ultimately discontinued. Overall, a 9/10 for me, I'm a fan.

Opens with a great a nice shot of slightly minty oakmoss. Then goes through the notes of fougere type lavender. Finally you'll end with a beautiful musk that I think has touches of a citrus ambroxan. Overall this is a musk-type fragrance, which it does self-advertise as. So true to that, it's more gentle than a room-shouter. They have other scents in this line that ARE room shouters (garanat, falkar) if that's what you're interested in. However, with that in mind, it still performs well as a gentle musk, meaning it won't just disappear on you. It will be present in a gentle way into the dry-down. BTW I was told this is discontinued so grab a bottle now if you want this one while the remaining bottles are still in inventory.

A very nice fougere, the only downside is that it's not very long lasting. For some reason it reminds me of Russian Leather by Memo, maybe not the smell itself, but the vibe I get when I'm wearing it. I'm not sure if this exclusive line is suited for this type of smell, I's too mainstream, like if you put "Bvlgari Au The Vert" in a 450$ per bottle collection chances are it's not gonna sell that much. Than is why I think this is discontinued. Still it's a fine scent.

joshuabrian@ Im not 100% certain, but I can point you in the right direction. fragrance world has a line called "the gemstone" that has dupes of several of the fragrances in bvlgari's "le gemme" line. Id start there...."hawk" sounds the closest to Malakeos. the difference being rose instead of geranium. ive seen it online for about 20-25 bucks. so it may be worth taking a chance on.

It's Cavallier's Rive Gauche, but slightly modernized. More lavender and oakmoss heavy, but still a classic barbershop-fougere blend. If you're a fan of barbershop style scents, I cannot really see one disliking this. The biggest drawback is the price. Performance is average, which I hoped would last longer considering the price. 7.5/10

Soapy bitter geranium lavender. This one is quite classic with it's soapy lavender. It has allot of geranium with chunks of oakmoss. It was really pretty when i first sprayed it on, but later it became quite boring. Meh.

This one’s more like Brut 33 than Brut 88. Greener than Rive Gauche, to mention the most recurring comparison. Managed to find a sample, but impossible to find a bottle. Damn it.

Funny name indeed, if you are Greek! :D I had never heard of this perfume before but the ones who got to know it seem to like it.

Interesting name. I’m not Greek, but doesn’t that mean something crude in Greek? Lol “Ela re George! You’re talking malakeos!”
