Selima

I bought this in memory of my husbands mom whose name was Selima. She passed away when he was 13 and i never got to meet her, but few years ago when i first saw this perfume, i knew i had to have it. Presentation of Selima is beautiful, fit for a queen. It comes in an outer embossed box, and inside of it is a hard shell box in black and gold. The inner box contains the gold edged booklet of this entire Bvlgari line so one can get familiar with the rest of the line up. The bottle itself is huge and heavy, it is nothing else than a pure work of art. Perfume is amazing. It is light, transparent, dainty and true oriental; somewhat middle eastern without the oud. It screams rich and money. I read the reviews bellow and i find them all not true to what i am smelling here. Tresor? No way. Cinnamon? Oh my God, no way, there is no cinnamon here. Selima is a very well mannered warm amber, with mild spices and slight rose in the background. On a first blast you can clearly smell suede which is not listed in the notes, but it disipates fast. In fact, sadly, the entire composition disipates fast, i can't even get 2 hours out of it no matter how much i spray. It seems that this line is more suitable as a gift for someone with class, and for someone who likes their perfumes subtle. That is not me, i like to be able to smell my perfume hours after spraying. However, i purchased this for a different reason, and i am thrilled to have it in my collection. Selima truly is unlike anything else i ever smelled, very nice gourmand - which makes me even more sad that i get such a bad performance out of it. I will try again, i am hoping it is just angry because it spent 3 days in shipping.

Wow! Really well done dates-&-spices fragrance. Oriental spices with sweet-and-rich syrupy dates. Supported by soft accord of cool rose and a touch of saffron in the background. The resultant smell is warm, mysterious, yet inviting. Gorgeous. An oriental gourmand without being too sweet or too niche. This is a totally new scent. I haven't smelled something like it at the time of this review. It is very attractive, mature, & formal. This is an occasion fragrance. This wonderful new creation gets a "Love".

Stunning fragrance - I'll never understand why Bvlgari didn't bring this one back when they relaunched the Le Gemme collection. It dried down to a beautiful powdery rose without smelling too mature. You can really smell the dates and the saffron too. This perfume is so long lasting!

I sampled this at Heathrow in 2018. I thought it was the best fragrance I'd ever smelled-warm, spicy, totally unique. But, waaay too expensive! Fast forward three years. I literally could not get it off my mind. Again at Heathrow, "Oh, that line has been discontinued." I decided to majorly splurge and bought a bottle directly from the company. I was worried I wouldn't like it, after not having smelled it for a few years. But, it's still the best smelling stuff on the planet! Warm, sweet, spicy...I smell cedar, sandalwood, incense, powder, caramel...and something very special and undefinable. My sister, who is a fragrance aficionado, has very different taste than I do. She usually finds my favorites "insipid" and I find hers to be "scrubbers" and "migraine inducing." But, she also agrees it is the best fragrance ever!

Cinnamon powder, amber, & rosewood talc. Sweet cinnamon, rosewood, amber, and spices are what i really get from this blend. I don't know if i can detect any dates but it's connamon... Spicy cinnamon. Now, When i first sniffed this one i just LOVED IT and kind of realized that i have sniffed this somewhere.... After few minutes in, i realized that it's 80% "Alamut" by Lorenzo Villoresi... Mystery solved :)

This could be similar to other perfumes in a long line of similar notes.. however this bottle design is a wowser at least as appears in the photos !! if the juice is anywhere near the design, it's at least something to check out for that significant other
