Splendida Iris d'Or

I can't get enough of this for some reason! I just received it last week. The first time I tried it, I could barely smell it, but what I could smell was lovely. The next day, I could clearly smell it on the shirt I wore the previous day. Since then, no matter what perfume I am wearing for the day, I inevitably spray myself lavishly with this just to enjoy it. In time, that will pass, as I've had other short obsessions with new perfumes, but right now, I am mesmerized! I do not find it to be as close to the original as others have made it out to be. Side by side, they are different fragrances with a shared DNA. But Iris is something special. I get a very strong scent of violet, and though I know violet leaf is part of the composition, that's completely different from the petals. The iris makes it slightly powdery, preventing it from smelling too sweet. Mimosa is a note I sometimes struggle with, but when it's done right, it's as if the doors have flung open and springtime is here! Springtime is quite a ways off, but this is a great promise of things to come! My guess is that the mimosa is the d'Or in the title. Beyond that, I can't really detect other notes without focusing and really trying to pick them out. Perhaps one of the best things about non-groundbreaking scents is that I don't feel compelled to do so, preferring instead to just enjoy it as is. Yes, younger people who discard floral scents as being too mature may not enjoy this. Times change, tastes change, and what's old can often be new again. It's far from revolutionary, but an excellent example of a well crafted fragrance and the joy I often feel just from simply smelling feminine and beautiful. I've tried Jasmine Noir, and didn't care for it, but I am now keen on trying the others in the Splendida line, especially Magnolia.

GLORIOUS! How I forgot about this magnificent creation? I wonder! At first, you are hit with a green-woody blast, soon tempered by the most gorgeous, cold-warm iris EVER. Splendida is just that: splendid! Incomparable rendition on iris. It sports the exact same DNA of Femme, another incredible number, but imagine loading that with a tad of green, fresh notes and the most endearing iris you can think of! It is sublime!!! I am Italian and this to me smells much alike the true thing, Tuscan Iris - I lived in Tuscany for half of my life, and this perfume brings back the vivid memory of these amazing and mysterious flowers. It is no surprise that an iris became insigna of the Ghibellini family, who used it for their code of arms - and it is a white iris. In Tuscany it grows, wild, on the curb of country roads, together with the bluish ones. It represent since forever the city of Florence in particular, where I lived many years ago now. When I did go for walks outside the city, I could spot them here and there, little dots of colour sitting together in the sun - and from afar, in the most beautiful country side scenery you can think of, you can smell the lush, fragrant scent they emanate, with that coldish violet note somewhat warm. Not sure I can convey as I wish this, but they smell rather green, a bit metallic, and yet powdery. Tuscan iris is to me the best one among all. How many times I stopped to pick them up in bunches, just to bring some of that enchanting mystery with me!! Splendida just embodies that perfect memory. It is forever love for me, could not be otherwise. Incredible sillage and longevity - 5 sprays radiated beyond the 3 feet from my skin, and (since I wore it yesterday too) I woke up still exuding iris. A dream!

Wow, talk about romancing the iris 😍 This fragrance is superb if you're an iris lover! Splendida Iris d'Or glistens like warm sunbeams on a crisp morning kissing the freshly fallen snow. It has an ethereal quality to it where one might imagine angels in flowing white chiffon robes tenderly guiding the souls of newly expired mortals into a breathtakingly utopian world. I don't find the green notes in this to be sharp or screechy. It is perhaps more delicate like dew drops on grass in the early morning. I also don't really get any bergamot coming through. The iris/orris root gives this fragrance a slightly vintage-y vibe but done in a very elegant and modern way. Anyone who claims this is an old lady smell, is mistaken! It is a grown woman's scent, someone with grace and poise, and calm and restraint in the face of adversity. She is well versed in etiquette at lavish events and will never lower her standards. No doubt this is much to the disappointment of those who envy her or want her. For someone who has had her and lost her, Steelheart's 🎵She's Gone🎵 has the perfect amount of torment, anguish, and melancholy one would feel. The only thing remaining would be the scent memory of Splendida Iris d'Or which would be a cold comfort when you feel like you've just had your heart ripped out through your throat! This is such a beautiful, delicate scent, but don't mistake delicate for weakness. This darling gem projects better and much longer than many niche perfumes. It was still projecting as strongly at 12 hours as it was upon first spraying it on. It left the most glorious sillage of around 6 feet. The scent reminds me very much of L'instant Magic. If you like iris scents and can find a bottle, grab it! It's a 10/10 for me.

My husband and I are in love with this perfume. The powdery is sweet, firm, and elegant. We always get complimented whenever we wear this scent. We had 2 bottles and consistently use it as a mood-lifting scent. I remember closed complicated deals at my office during the first bottle and continue to save some space for this simply post bottle in our rack. After the second bottle, I decide to purchase rose rose, jasmine noir, and magnolia sensuel from the splendida series. I also purchased the tuberose mystique from a trusted online retailer since Luxasia Indonesia as an official distibutor doesn't sell it here, but the bottle was crack and I have to return it and plan to repurchase it sometime soon. I have other Bvlgari Amarena from the higher line of Bvlgari - La Gemme, but for me, Splendida Series especially Iris d'or is still the one that I love until today. I hope Bvlgari will not discontinue Splendida - especially Iris d'or.

This is not powdery at all to me, the least powdery iris I’ve smelled so the note pyramid fooling 😉 Delicious, classy, alluring and on the sweet side, reminds me of both chewing gum and those amazing erasers (specially Japanese ones) I had as a kid ✏️ 🤤. Prada’s infusione d’iris is my all time fave fragrance, but that is a cold Iris, this is a warm iris, unusual and oh so good!!!! Can’t decide if this one or (even sweeter) Splendida Tuberosa is more beautiful, hard competition! Will also get the Magnolia one for the sake of it, but skipping the Jasmine (that seems to be less jasmine and more patchouli) and the rose that is said to be to ordinary. Wow for these bottles as well, that bejeweled magnet cap though 😍 only a jeweler could design this!

Violet candy opening. Sweet green notes play amongst the powdery iris. No sharpness, despite the presence of bergamot. Fine French hairspray comes to mind in this phase. I have been waiting for a perfume that reminds me of “unscented” Elnett and this is close, only sweeter, perhaps from the tonka. Warm, creamy, woody drydown. Better than Chanel in my opinion, though I haven’t tried Misia. The sweetness holds its own throughout — but the sweetness is sensual, not cloying and childlike. If you like purple flowers and warm, creamy woods, try it. Overall impression is that it reminds me of Star Magnolia by Jo Malone, in which ginger and shiso tone the sweet florals. A pleasant profile throughout. Successful blind buy.

The opening is a fresh citrus burst, which quickly turns into a creamy iris skin scent. The creaminess comes from the sandalwood and tonka bean, so it isn’t extremely sweet. The scent also doesn’t project that much. I think the dry down would be suitable for a number of occasions. I see a classy well dressed lady wearing this to her corporate office job, or the mom who dresses up for her kid’s graduation. There is a slight heaviness to the drydown, a little powdery that makes it a scent I probably wouldn’t have worn in my early twenties. The Violet/iris combo just isn’t that sweet scent I enjoyed when I was younger. Now in my 30s I quite enjoy Iris D’Or.

It's a perfume for a goddess! Iris, Iris, Iris, Iris, Violet, Violet, Violet!!!!! OMG! This is absolutely georgous. I am so glad I bought it blind. I didn't think I would be this blown away, but I was searching for a long time for a beautiful Iris scented perfume, one that lasted on my skin and this one is the ONE! I hope they never stop making it. I plan to stock up. If your a fan of iris and violets, you need this one in your collection. It is so beautiful and long lasting, soft in the dry down, sillage is very nice too. XOBvglari. Another one in my collection!

Im impressed. A bright citrus opening and its true I did immediately think of Femme which I already love. The citrus soften and then you are very aware of cool iris. A lovely dose of iris to. Some nice kick from the violet leaf. A nice big fresh green note and then slowly you become aware of the sandalwood and mimosa soft powdery sweetness. Some soft sweetness from the Tonka. Overall it's a bright, floral/green not too sweet fragrance. My only disappointment is that the iris does not dominate for much longer. Very classy, very Bvlgari and another winner.

Bvlgari does it again. I love everything I’ve tried from their Splendida line. This one keeps up the family name. Irises are one of my favorite flowers. When I used to grow them, I very much enjoyed huge masses of freshly cut bouquets. They really say “springtime” to me, and I miss them very much. This perfume gives me the same burst of spring loveliness every time I spray it. It transports me back decades to that long-gone iris bed. Longevity isn’t as good as I would like, but then again, I do enjoy refreshing the aura of spring every few hours.

For me simply the best member of the Splendida collection. And even beyond that. I agree with Calvini that this is rather violet than Iris, but still beautiful, feminin scent. Sweet, but not cloying, only pure flower scent, with the little citrus note at the very beginning that makes it light and fills you with joy. I would recommend it only over 25. This scent is not for jeans-day, but for occasions you want to appear and feel impressive, elegant, a true lady, or professional.

Another gem from Bvlgari. This DNA of this house is just very classy. This opens up a little green, citrus, with a brilliant warm mimosa which is very present for at least the first hour. As it warms the powdery purple iris is joined by violets and the sweet warm tonka, sandalwood, and vetiver. It’s a classic, slightly sweet, pretty fragrance. It’s light, bright, warm, and fresh like a warm summer day. This would make a great signature scent.

The only Bvlgari I own after a series of disappointments since 2004. I really like the powdery floral lipstick notes in this, it isn’t Misia but it’s of the same genre. Moderate projection and lasting power, but still has a lot going for it. In my humble opinion, a safe blind buy if you love delicate lipstick florals.

Comparing two woody violets with beautiful structures: Balenciaga Paris is a thousand-year-old cathedral with a haunted air of genuflection, solemnity, beeswax and memories. So uplifting and easy to wear, Iris d’Or by contrast is a woody violet that’s bright, cheerful and versatile. A modern classic.

just got this perfume today & i LOVE it !!! yes its very similiar to bvlgari femme but i dont care lol the iris in this perfume is outstanding........so soft & dreamy :) and nice & powdery too - which is always a winner to me :) i am very happy with this scent.......iris lovers should be happy :)

Gorgeous perfume. I had a bottle, used it up and waited for a while to repurchase it. Now I can't find it anywhere. It's kinda lipsticky, sweet (not too sweet) iris goodness. I felt really classy wearing this. Anyone knows any perfume that's similar to this?

You'll see me whenever there is Iris!! I love this perfume even though I don't reach for it as much as other Iris perfumes that I have. I have a full bottle and a 5ml miniature that I keep in my toiletry bag. Need few sprays to smell amazing.

Love this perfume. Perfect resemblance with Bvlgari pour Femme, which was my mom's signature scent. I can't find Iris d'or it anywhere. I read the comments and I saw others can't find it anymore. Does somebody know if this was discontinued?

I think the pyramid is wrong here? In reality there is violet leaf and heliotrope as top notes, mimosa and iris root stems as middle. And some vetiver complementing the tonka and sandalwood in the base.

This will be available from Apr.29 in Japan, and I've tried today. It is very beautiful. Splendid! I will get it.

NOT an iris scent but a candied green violet with honeyed mimosa.

I was afraid that Bvlgari had also changed this perfume so much from the original Femme but I have noticed with relief that it is almost identical to the old version - it only lacks intensity, as it often happens with new formulations, and it is maybe a bit sweeter or fruitier but not in a fresh way, or maybe just less powdery, more suitable for a younger audience. You could mistake it for the EDT of the old version. When I wear this one it weakens after 8 hours and disappears after 12 hours, whereas the old version lasted until the next day in its full glory - it also left a nice scent on my pillow. Of the three scents that Bvulgari has revamped this is the one that remained the most similar to the original, Femme. I don't notice any fresh or green notes at all while I wear it. On me, like in the old version, I only detect the good old violet, rose and iris combination with that suave creamy, powdery base. But I have smelled the same perfume on somebody else and on her it had that green, almost fruity note. I have also noticed that the dry-down on fabrics is much much fresher and fruiter than what I perceive when I weaer it, so yes, the fruity note must be somewhere. Violet is still the predominant note though, so I don't understand why it is not listed in the notes pyramid, and why the name of the perfume is Iris D'Or. This is definitely not an Iris scent. UPDATE: I have been wearing this for a while now and I started noticing a difference in the the dry down between this and the old version. The old version becomes alluring, ethereal, abstract while this new one is somehow more linear, sweeter and with a pronounced fruity note. I like to have both and I don't know why, with the cold weather I prefer wearing Iris D'Or, and sometimes I prefer Femme which is suitable also at high temeperatures. UPDATE 2: Wearing this a lot in winter. It gets SO many compliments from men and women.

This is a very pretty fragrance. I wasn't sure how mimosa and iris would work together, as it seemed like a very unusual combination, but I am surprised to find that they compliment each other very well. The mimosa starts out sweet, but the green notes and bergamot keep the sweetness in check. Then iris joins the mix, adding a lightly powdery, clean facet. I love the addition of violet leaf in fragrances, finding it adds a lovely garden-fresh dimension whenever used. It is no different here, giving this fragrance a dewy, airy freshness that's not typical in iris dominant perfumes. This is not the usual powdery iris fragrance with the obligatory vanilla note. So, if you expect that, you may be disappointed here. While I like those Iris fragrances too, this is very different. It's bright, light, and crisp. I agree with another reviewer who said this has a sunny disposition. It does to me too, which is no doubt due to mimosa. Surprisingly, and contrary to so many reviews, I get excellent silage and longevity. Not beast mode, but I was aware of it most of the day. It could be the warmth on the day I wore it had something to do with that, so it might perform differently in winter. While it is a strong like right now, it has potential to become a love. That might happen as soon as this coming winter, which is the time of year I prefer wearing iris dominant perfumes.

Not exactly as I had hoped, BUT I definitely have room for this in my collection. I had seen someone who reviewed this say “Prada d’iris on steroids”, which is one of my favorite summer fragrances, but longevity is poor. So I ordered almost immediately. To me this smells like a high pitched green leaves and sharp floral. Clean smell. The green notes are really hogging the center stage, and I think the iris is the better act so I’m losing patience. Prada d’iris leads with more citrus, the neroli and orange gives it a fructose sweetness vs leading with green as in Splendida... Now, all this being said, Just because it’s not what I thought, it’s still a unique addition to my collection. I will say this...I lift my hair and spray the back of my neck, this gives you the much coveted just took a shower aura that I am always chasing after with scents. I would recommend this

Sweet iris. This is what I get consistently throughout the wear. Of course it develops slightly in the middle, but candied iris is what holds this perfume together. I get the sweetness from the mimosa, a powdery iris, and some bit of "wet green" at the start. I suppose this is from the bergamot and violet leaf. This is my favourite part of Splendida Iris d'Or's development. About 2 hours later, the green recedes a bit to make way for the tonka, so that I mostly get a sweet iris, slightly green, slightly powdery. The dry down is more powdery and creamy. Iris, tonka, a more pronounced orris root, and slight mimosa are what I get. It's also slightly woody, but only just. This is a soft fragrance. Sits close to the skin, but lasts about 8-10 hours on my skin. I find that I enjoy it most during spring type/rainy weather. A current staple in my wardrobe.

I just got this perfume, mixed feelings so far. On my skin it does not resemble the original BLV Pour Femme, then again it's been so so long since I smelled it (this is the main reason I bought it). I like it overall, on my skin it smells only as violets. I can't get a glimpse of any of the other notes even if you kill me :) I do however like that it does not have that much intensity, and I can also say it reminds me of vintage make-up my mum used to have (that's where the "powdery" characteristic comes from, although I remember a lipstick my grandmother used to have that smelled of violets just like this). To me I associate it with winter or spring, more likely day than night, worn with some clean-cut clothes by a young but elegant woman.

This is pretty but not quite what I expected. This isn't the sweet powdery iris I was hoping for, but rather Bvlgari Femme with an injection of iris. It's more floral and green than purple and powdery, but is quite nice nonetheless. It wears very close, does NOT pack a punch - it's a romantic fragrance not a statement fragrance. Restrained, refined, and is gone before the first kiss lands. I love Bvlgari, but this one is a bit of a disappointment. I will wear it - for me - I love having it in my collection, but I won't be needing a backup.

A strong iris scent, with some green notes. I like it rather well and I was really glad to see this new collection of scents by Bvlgari, which is one of my favorite brands. Smells more like a rich, mature scent, it's probably not suitable for very young girls. Iris is very interesting in it, it doesn't smell plain at all. This scent has that typical Bvlgari's "expensive scent" smell to it.

It really smells the iris note most of all in the beginning. It reminds me somehow iris in Fleurissimo by Creed, only not so powerful, much lighter. Great economy:) But unfortunately it doesn't last for a long time. I would say that this fragrance is the most noble from the line. And it doesn't seeem to me too powdery. If I was an iris fan, I would buy it.

So pretty! This is such a sparking, golden iris. It must be the mimosa that gives it that sunshine glow? The juice is far paler than the image which worried me but straight out of the bottle this is a delight from start to finish. Under the yellow mimosa is the dust core of iris. Just beautiful!

A dusty, pollen-like, sneeze inducing combo of iris and mimosa - a very unexpected, but beautiful duet, it turns out. Very, very green throughout as well, I suspect due to violet leaf. Smells like class and old money. Overall, very nice, but not mind-blowing.

Strong iris and parma violets, drying into something slightly more warm and sweet, but largely linear. Very noticeable sillage! Works well in cold weather, especially frosty mornings where is brings out the sparkle in the air.

Nice, fresh, powdery iris. Usually powder can't be fresh but this is an exception. I am not a big fan of iris but I truly like this one.

Light, slightly sweet iris. Easy to wear everyday scent, especially in warmer weather. May get lost in the cold.

if you're a guy spray a lot (12-15spr ) and wait for 20 min....then go.....awesome !!!!!!!!!

Mystical Conversation by Odilon Redon 1896

It is deceptively similar to Bvlgari Pour Femme at first sniff, but it could never take its place. Now that my bottle is nearly empty I wouldn't buy it again even if I could. All Splendidas were discontinued, which is a shame. Unlike BPF, this is a sparkly mimosa/iris/green violet perfume with hardly any powder. It is lovely in its own right and a good choice for spring and even summer. BPF had a great longevity and this Golden Iris doesn't.

For me, this one was strange. Warm and yellow indeed but not something I enjoyed. Having had smelt some iris-based scents I expected something else although it may be that with no real base or justification because of lack of experience. But when I used it together with chypre Yves Rocher Comme Une Evidence, it was suddenly a perfect match! Something new. I will try my tester with other chypres too.

Bought this for the iris note, but sadly far from my expectation. It has the iris note in the opening, kinda nice but doesn't stay long. After few minutes somehow the dry down is kinda bitter (for me) and it lasts for quite some time (1 hr outdoor, 2-3hrs indoor). I'm not a fan. Too bad i'm buying full size.

A bit sickeningly sweet and overwhelmingly reeks of mimosa once settled. If you love very sweet florals, it could work--it's just not my style maybe; I was really expecting that more of the green/woody notes would sing on my skin!

There is nothing gourmand in this fragrance. Iris D’Or has an opening of green notes, iris, and mimosa, in which bergamot is just a shadow in the distance that creates freshness. The mimosa in this fragrance is strong and sweet. Throughout the duration of the perfume, it provides sweetness to the composition. After about 30 minutes, I felt hints of violet, very detectable, and orris. While I don’t smell sandalwood or vetiver, tonka beans help in the drydown to stay very smooth and slightly creamy. After about an hour, in the drydown, there is not a big change. I continue to feel strongly the violet leaf, mimosa, and iris accompanied by tonka beans and orris. I always despise generalizing and giving fragrances an age, but I believe that, for the purposes of the review, is important to say this is a mature perfume that I do not see myself using under the age of 35-40 years. For that same reason, I will not keep it and give it to someone who can put it to good use. The vision that appears in mind is always the same: wealth. Not only is the packaging so elegant and golden, there is something in the perfume that makes me think of wealth. The non-ostentatious wealth of those born into wealth and living a life of elegance. I imagine a middle-aged woman, elegantly dressed, sipping champagne in a room full of mimosas and flowers. I imagine silk dresses. This perfume strongly reminds me of sweet prosecco. It took me a while to understand this but I get it every single time!

This smells like rose. I blind buy it and regret and selling now. Not powdery at all. Not Iris at all. This smells like rose perfumes like Lancomes..

Smells like a cheap barbershop powder. Can't stand it. Gave it an hour to settle on my skin and it's still horrible! Total waste of money.

I guess I don't like iris. Really did not like the scent of this. Blind buy that I regret. At least it was cheap enough.

I love sandelwood but i can't feel there is sandelwood in it. It smells iris and i don't like it.

what unbelievably refined Iris perfume this is ... another gem that I discover browsing along my Collection of perfumes. I had Rose Essentielle, I have Patchouli Tentation and now it appeared I still have this exquisitely sophisticated perfume for a lady. you immediately smell the fine scent of the Iris flower first, later the Orris as it Powderizes the perfume. along with the corpuscules nanospheres of the Mimosa a Power Powder Perfume tempting us with elegance and what I already acknowledged in the Rose Essentielle, extraordinary raffinesse of this hyperfeminine perfume. in the Opening the Green Notes and Bergamot impose to me as Refreshing Waves of the already (possibly) chilly, metallic Iris, haughty and yet earthy. then almost also at once, the Flowers come in: Iris and Mimosa making billowing clouds of Powder, Pollen, the sweet quasi-sweet greetings of a highly Polished Perfume. in the Base supported by the Orris and Sandelwood. it struck me that Iris D'Or (this perfume) has quite some notes similar with Creed's Irisia, be it then, that Irisia hundredfold maximizes the perfumial power yet in the same category. as such my taste is varied, that I love Iris perfumes and in Irisia I have an unbelievable Powerful Flower Perfume that dominates the scene. but just the Classiness of the Bulgari Splendida Iris D'Or justifiably takes the space. in the end I shall always choose for the Loud and Over-the-Top Perfumes without notwithstanding neglecting the pure Classisist perfumes that also 'live in my house'. what great discovery !

Recently I've found myself interested in such a combination of irris, violet and orris. So Iris d'or has been on my track since a while and I'm not disappointed, even though not wowed either. This perfume begins with a very light trace of violet and irris. It's funny that I get violet leafs at the beginning, instead of base notes. But soon after it reveals its main character. The powdery notes immerse intensively. It reminds me a little of insolence without fruity notes. It's a powerful woman's perfume who wants to stand out of mainstream. I second the bellow reviewer that it ain't an under 25 perfume.It's true for me too. I could have never go for it ten years ago. but now I find it interesting. It has some classic vibes, the same powdery, cosmetic note, original pour femme charm and yet I can't call it solely by one of these characteristics. I should remark that I don't get any woody note clearly, which is a shame. Instead mimosa ruins it for me. I'm not sure what I expected, but I can say iris d'or is good, just not good enough for me.

soft, delicate and restrained. on this cool spring day, initial spray on my wrist is a very soft, shy powdery floral. its a beautiful scent don't get me wrong, I just need to spray a lot to appreciate it's beauty. and this is coming from someone who's not fond of strong powerhouse scents. yes I agree, it reminded me of a johnsons powder/product(that kind of powdery softness). it's light and airy, and that could be an issue to some. i personally don't mind that, it's just that this is expensive here in new zealand(over $200), and it's lightness/softness just doesn't justify the price tag. i'm keeping my 100 ml bottle but wont be repurchasing.

So this is basically their rerelease of Bvlgari Pour Femme. Both now discontinued unfortunately, and surprisingly. They are very pleasant and beautiful timeless fragrances. This one has fewer notes in it so while it’s 90% similar, that other 10% of, I’d say, the tea, raspberry, vanilla and jasmine notes make it less rounded out, slightly less complex, but they don’t make them the way they used to. I’d you like floral fragrances, I definitely recommend tracking this down and even more so if you find a good deal on ‘Bvlgari Pour Femme’ just stay away from used bottles with brown juice.
