This is a wonderful scent. I got the sampler + full bottle voucher and this is the one I ended up choosing from this brand's offerings. Compliments on the first day I wore it. It's in the same category of "your skin but better"; Glossier You, JHG Not a Perfume, and I think it's the closest to Rosie by this brand. The cedar is so life-like and absolutely wonderful. This is weird but it reminds me of the scent of Golden Coast by PF Candle Co and the Cedar + Sage spray from Trader Joe's. It's such a life-like, clean woodsy scent. I got compliments at work and it sits close to skin and is very inoffensive. Perfume wise it reminds me so much of the original L'Eau D'Issey by Issey Miyake but without the cloying rose. Necessaire makes a body care line in the scent Hinoki that pairs really well this. I love woodsy perfumes so this is a perfect addition; I actually don't have anything like this exact scent.

I want to preface this by stating that I only wear perfume for myself (it's a comfort thing), and I don't care if i get complimented on how I smell (as long as I don't repulse anyone lol!) Anyway, I have never received so many compliments on a perfume before! I was so surprised because most of the compliments were at the end of my 12 hour shift when I could no longer smell this on myself. I recently bought the sample set and found that this one, rosie, and lake were my favorites. I'm surprised by the negative reviews because Dylan is a clean, comforting woody musk. Very simple and easy to wear. Judging by the compliments, I guess I can say it lasts a long time and has noticeable sillage when the wearer thinks it has disappeared!

I only get a small bit of cedar in the opening but this develops into a really soft and close-wearing, musky skin scent. It has a hint of crisper ozone/fall air and lends a tiny bit of a refreshing hint to an otherwise skin scent. This is like a walk through tall cedar trees in the mountains on a brisk fall day where it's just getting cool enough to see your breath and turn your cheeks rosy. edit: this scent had a decent longevity turning to a skin-scent musk with some similarity to the original fragrance oil by riddle. also a more delicate fragrance that wears close to the skin

I am obsessed with Dylan. I just tried it from a By Rosie Jane discovery set and immediately purchased a full bottle. I expected to love Rosie the most. I do like that, but I feel like I’ve smelled similar before. Dylan blew me away. It’s a warm, woodsy, clean, slightly sexy scent on my skin. It isn’t going to project like crazy, but I like that about it. It’s so comfy and cozy, it goes perfectly with my flannels and hoodies, it’s not too feminine but also not too masculine. To me this is totally underrated and it will be my go to scent for the near future, without a doubt.

I only recently got a sample of this but OMG I love it. It smells so so good. I purchased the sample set of 7 By Rosie Jane perfumes and expected to like James the most but this blew James away. Smells like a clean and sophisticated person right out of the shower lol. I couldn't stop smelling my wrist. Also, contrary to some other revieews, I do not think it smells like cigarettes, peanut butter (??), or Home Depot, at all.

Smells exactly like cedar shavings. My dad had a big log of cedar he kept in his barn that he would use for his woodworking hobby. Every time he would cut a piece off of the log, you could stick your nose up to it and Dylan is what it smelled like. I always thought that scent was beautiful - natural and meditative. Simply just... wood. No greenness, no dirt, no florals. Just Cedar wood. 9/10

This is Rosie's older brother. Smoky, woody, and musky, in a dry down that sits very close to the skin but does actually seem to last a good amount of time. Kind of has a church incense thing going on for itself. I really like it. I have no idea where people are getting "home depot" from. I like the smell of home depot though so even if it did smell like that, I'd probably be fine with it.

I am already a Rosie fan, but I prefer it for the spring/summer. Dylan is just gorgeous for the Fall/winter. It has the undertone of that beautiful by Rosie Jane DNA, but this is just slightly woody and a tiny tiny bit like men's cologne but not at all overpowering. More like if you hugged a man and then hours after you could smell his cologne lingering.

Give this a try on your skin. Very cedar out of the gates but there’s a creamy skin quality that took me by surprise once it settles. I love when perfumes take turns like this. Very quiet scent, but beautiful. Longevity on clothing is acceptable... If I could make my entire body smell like this, I would.

This is what I imagine clean skin smells like. I’ve been meaning to get this perfume since I got it when I bought Dulce when it first came out. It smells so incredible, reminds me of the nemat amber oil. This is what I thought ambroxan would smell like. It’s sooo good and a mood lifter.

It’s offensive at first spray honestly. But after giving it a minute it settled into this beautiful woody amber. It’s such a lovely light scent, I only wish the sillage and and longevity were better because this scent is amazing

This is so gorgeous! It's everything I wanted/expected Glossier You to be - but for some reason I am anosmic to it. Yes, this is cedar and it is subtle - but it is delicate and feminine at the same time. Love it.

nice, clean blend of white musk, cedar and frankincense. soft yet deep with the cedar notes. i like it a lot! unisex, definitely unique in my collection. makes a statement without being over the top.

Photorealistic green cedar. The cedar is luscious. Simultaneously airy & intense. Intensely transparent. I’m in a cedar forest...eyes closed, head back, nostrils flaring, inhaling like an addict.

This is really stunning and totally underrated! A perfectly balanced blend of musk and cedar. It reminds me of something Le Labo would produce with how well blended it is.

this is lowkey a Gaiac 10 dupe minus the barbecue bacon hinted guaiacwood. Love it and I just saved $375.

On opening, this smells like paint lol. On initial dry down, the frankincense really comes through and the scent becomes much more interesting. I really like this perfume, but it feels as if there's something missing. It's like I can smell a hollowness to it - like there's a hole in the overall scent. I think it needs something to ground it/tie it all together. This one has some good staying power, but the most interesting part of the scent, the middle note, is not the part that sticks around unfortunately. I don't find this perfume to be powdery, so I disagree with that accord. If you're not a fan of powdery scents like me, don't let that deter you. I'm assuming it's from the white musk, but I also smell jasmine in this perfume. I do think it's a bit overpriced. I would suggest getting a sample first before deciding to commit to a full bottle. This is the kind of scent that if you smelled it on another person, you would definitely take note and associate it with coziness.

This is my favorite by Rosie Jane perfume, which I ordered the full size of after a discovery box. I don't get all those accords listed though. I do get the cedar and the musk very strong, which I love. It's a pretty uncomplicated scent in my opinion, just reminds me of the smell of wood. I kept catching a nice musky scent on the wind when I wore it one hot summer day. I thought it was one of my friend's perfumes and loved it, then it happened again on other days and I realized it was this perfume. When I put my nose to it though, I just smell the dry cedar. Edit: I find it lasts at least 5 hours on my sleeve, where I spray it, but I think on the skin it would probably last like an hour maybe

Huh. Interesting but kinda bland. Don't let the opening fool you, drys down quickly to a gentle, creamy wood. As this is so mild I need to do a full day wear test to see if it disappears or if the musk develops into something unpleasant as others described... Received this travel size roller ball as free gift with purchase from Sephora. UPDATE I like this. The musk doesn't turn bitter on me as sometimes happens. I'd buy a full bottle if it was a stellar sale but it's pretty expensive for a skin scent.

Such a fresh, fun unisex scent. Boyfriend-fresh-out-of-the-shower, towel-fresh-out-of-the-dryer vibes. I love it on my wrist / in a small dose but find the musk notes pull a little almost sweat-adjacent on me if I wear too much. Not sure if it’s just to me since no one’s ever said anything even after I’ve pointed it out, but I tend to avoid wearing it in situations where I might get sweaty because of it. Regardless, still love the scent and recommend if you want something fun and fresh!

a minimalistic woody scent that opens sharp but fades to a rounder, subtle scent. feels pretty unisex to me. I spray this on all my sweaters so I associate it with winter and warm clothes. my friend told me they associate this scent with me which I took as a compliment! I feel like Dylan shares a lot of DNA with Rosie by Rosie Jane but I'm not sure how to describe it besides that it feels clean and simple -- a necessary minimum of notes that work very well together

This smells like staying at a cabin on the lake that's got that musky, woody smell, but it's been modernized and nicely decorated. It's a rainy day and you're stuck inside. Your male travel buddies are taking their morning showers, and the smell of their shampoo and soap wafts out the door as they emerge from the bathroom. It's what I expected Lake to smell like, actually. I really like it.

Opens with a sharp note and dries down to warm wood scent. The vibes are cabin in the wood, it's raining outside and someone you love is about to make you a cup of hot chocolate. It's quite a unisex scent. I had a sample of of it and it's nice but not very me. So won't be getting a full bottle but consider buying for my male partner.

I would give this scent a 3/5. It's a nice scent and leans more masculine than feminine but doesn't smell like a cologne. It reminds me of a grown up version of the classic Hollister perfume from the early 2000s.

White musk in a lumberyard. I get more white musk than wood. Similar to You Doux but less complex. I like it, but it isn't very unique. I'd buy it if was priced under $20 USD, but it's not worth its price now.

This is mainly a soft, woody fragrance on me with a faint touch of something... aquatic? Dylan is too masculine for me to wear but I think it would smell amazing on my husband!

Pure woods with a touch of smoke. Not a complex perfume but a nice one to have to add woodiness to overly sweet or powdery fragrances. At least, that’s how I like to use it.

This is Rosie by Rosie Jane’s older brother. Has a woody almost green opening (like a fresh plucked green stem) with the same musk used in Rosie for the dry down on my skin.

bought this as a blind buy mostly because it’s the same name as my boyfriend, warmheartedly smells nostalgic and in a way gives me a old book scent

Mixed feelings. When I tested this in the store (along with Boy Smell's Woodphoria, Phlur's Missing Person, and most of the Dedcool line) this was mild, mellow, and one of the only scents I tried I wasn't anosmic to - so imagine my surprise when I finally tried my 30ml and got hit in the face with cedar. I love the notes in this, but it's not exactly what I expected it to be based what I sampled, so I'm unsure of how I feel. I also find it dries down to something aquatic and masculine on me, not a fan. I'm noticing most of the more non-toxic/natural-esque brands tend to smell very weak when I test and very different with a FB. It happened with BRJ's James, too, which I can't wear although it's a lovely fragrance. The fig is too intense for me in its true form.

Let me preface this by saying I love cedar smells and wood smells are kind of my thing right now. But to me this smells more aquatic than anything. I don’t like the eponymous by Rosie Jane either, and to me it smells like that or like Clean Reserve Rain. I can absolutely see the comparisons to Le Labo Eau Gaiac as well, but what separates this from that is that Le Labo is warm and smoky and this is cool and sweet and rainy. That is very much not my jam but I don’t think this is horrible. Was really excited to smell like a hamster cage but this isn’t woody cedar at all and I’m really disappointed.

this smell is very, very manly. woody, musky, a little salty? and very mature. i feel weird wearing it at my age, so i’ll probably pass on it for now. this is how i imagine a rugged 30-something lumberjack would smell. not too different from the other scents from by/rosie jane, there’s minimal to non-existent projection, and the smell lasts about 2 hours before mostly disappearing. nobody else really notices it. i don’t really prefer this smell, as i don’t really think it “fits” me, but i can’t deny it’s a good smell.

I agree with others in saying that you need to give it a minute or two to settle in because I too did not like the way it smelled when I first put it on. It’s pretty, woody, and musky. I wouldn’t say it’s anything special and not something I gravitate towards. Won’t be buying a full size bottle of this one.

Not bad but also nothing great. It's softer than some of the others in this collection and more pleasant too. But nothing is really drawing me in. There are many soft musky scents like this one and there's nothing distinctive about it to make me prefer it over others.

Its okay, quite a masculine leaning woody but faintly sweet fragrance. I get the comparison between the musk in this and Rosie, although this one is slightly more masculine. It's nice, it's just not defined enough, I think.

Opening like Santal 33 but not as sharp. Later fading down to Not A Perfume. Musky notes like this is great for layering, esp with roller

When I first got it it smelled like the interior of a new car. I liked it but I don’t wear it much. It is Smokey white musk.

Another perfume from this house I just can not smell. I get this VERY soft woody cedar but beyond that it just fades.

This is a cozy scent, but the longevity is so bad.. In 30 minutes it was conpletely gone

Does this last Victoria99? I tried Lake and it does not last at all.

I don't really get cedar off of this. Hard to describe the first spray. Once it starts drying down it smells like rubber or plastic - the squishy, slightly scented kind used for baby teethers and toys. Not a bad smell, just not something I necessarily want on my body. Once it settles in further it gets more powdery but also smells a bit watery, and *maybe* a super light wood scent. The fully settled notes (about an hour after spray) are the most tolerable for me. Not offensive, but not something that I want to wear, nor do I feel I'd especially appreciate it on other people. Deep whiffs of it make me a little nauseous. This actually smells pretty similar to Rosie for me, minus the rose.

at first sniff, Dylan hits me like a tide pod sprinkled with some freshly ground pepper: clean with a hint of woodish spiceishness to make it interesting. At this point in the experience, I also find it fully unisex, aldehydic, neat and worth another wear. Sadly, within an hour it morphs into a fairly generic cool masc frag. You know when cedar takes on a celery note? yeah, it's that. and it's only that. after three hours it's almost undetectable.

I don’t have too much to say about this scent. I got a small test size out of a sample kit, and the description didn’t appeal to me, but I tried it anyways. I didn’t test it on skin, but on a test strip, it leans much more masculine to me. I personally think it’s almost even reminiscent of Eros Versace. Just a very stereotypical masculine scent, kind of like aftershave. Reminds me of my ex-boyfriend. This is a dislike for me.

I don't smell woods and I really wanted to smell like Home Depot lol. It lasts and I love the way it smells on my skin the next day, but it smells like chemicals. I sprayed it on my arm and then went to the grocery store with my boyfriend. On the way home he was sniffing really hard asking if I smelled the chemical smell, he thought it was the car. It was my arm lol. So, this one got sold.

Yeah this is just not it for me at all. My roommate and I smelled it and at the exact same time we looked at each other and said “it smells like Home Depot.”

Salty musk scent, opens with some pepper. I don't think the notes here are accurate to how it smells. It's a bit sharp and kind of hurts my throat.

he's a little bit too weird for me

this sounded like a very straightforward unisex woody frag, but I'm glad I only picked up a travel size. right away I got hit with this unexpected earthy, almost peppery note, which I'm guessing is coming from the frankincense. it does calm down slightly after a bit, but never really goes away, with quite heavy musk starting to envelop it, making it even more suffocating. I love cedar and musk, but this nauseating dirt-like scent bothers me so much. reading the review below now, it does kind of smell of celery! dirty celery. projects surprisingly well for a clean frag and lasts longer too - maybe 4-5hrs.
