Apple Brandy on the Rocks

I have very particular tastes in fragrances. I am not a niche snob, and I am not a clone freak. I am on the search for the best of the best perfumes that are trying to do two things at the same time: be an amazing smell that people actually respect and love, and be a smell that accomplishes that feat while setting itself apart from other top dogs that have accomplished that first task. That is to say, I like the best of the best fragrances with "designer" sensibilities. That sensibility is also filtered through the fact that I resonate with traditionally masculine fragrances. My favorite "niche" fragrance, as basic as it may seem, is going to be something as basic as a Creed (e.g., Silver Mountain Water or Green Irish Tweed), and my favorite designers are Dior Sauvage Parfum and Elixir, Acqua Di Gio Profumo, or Tom Ford's Oud Wood. Unfortunately for me, sweet fragrances often turn cloying on my skin. Unlike my younger brother, on whom sweet fragrances turn spicier and more masculine. So, when I wear sweet fragrances I enjoy, such as Dior Homme Intense and Parfum (pre-reformulation/re-release) or By the Fireplace, I have to test them multiple times on skin and wear them exclusively in particularly cold weather. This right here, though? This is peak. It is sweet, spicy, boozy, juicy, and just perfectly balanced with some crisp freshness from what I imagine is the apple, bergamot, pineapple, and ambroxan all working together. I absolutely love this fragrance. When I smelled it on skin, I joked to my friends "I think I just the fragrance of my future wife." But I love it for me as well. Everyone has a fragrance that they consider their quintessential "date night" fragrance. Some (many) would even put Angel's Share at the top of their list. And God bless them, all the power to them, but for my tastes, I think I can say this is it for me. Projection and longevity is fantastic. The actual smell is like a spicy apple pie with melting vanilla ice cream on top with some caramel drizzle, and a fruity little apple/pineapple and rum cocktail by your side. Not photo realistic though, so still very much unmistakably a "fragrance" and you don't have to worry about someone thinking that you spilled your dessert all over yourself, and you don't have to be worried about giving the police probable cause in a DUI charge (which you would have to be concerned about with "Old Fashioned on the Rocks"). To me, this is a 10/10, and I am going to have to purchase a bottle. Too bad it costs, at discounters, even more than Creed Aventus at the same discounters.

Apple Brandy on the Rocks opens as a watery, sweet baked apple topped with cardamom with hints of pineapple to brighten it up~ Sometimes it even comes across like caramel apples? I adore this fragrance!! I don't get nearly as much booze as I do with Angel's Share (I'm ambivalent about this, because I love the idea of boozy scents but it can also become too heavy if not balanced just right), and it isn't woody at all on me? I'm basically getting all the sweet and fruity notes on my skin... As a gourmand and fruity scent lover, there's no way I could complain about that! Its undeniably aquatic, and its watery quality is the most defining characteristic.. The cardamom and vanilla bring back just enough warmth that it isn't truly a cold or warm fragrance? Its soooo smooth and intense enough without being overpowering on someone who prefers lighter fragrances! Its a little aloof? Or maybe someone who seems aloof but is a big softy on closer inspection... It isn't as outwardly approachable on a lady as some of my other scents (it would probably read very approachable on a guy into aquatic frags!), but its still cozy and sweet.. It makes me feel like I'm in my own world on a wet day ^^/ Its one of my favorite snowy or rainy day scents! It could also read as a festive holiday scent, but I think its subtle enough to be worn more often than that~ It's probably too light for nighttime, but versatile enough to wear all day whether you're done up or not~

I remember testing this perfume in store, i sprayed perfume on tester strip and i was like "mehh, decent but booring". I had opportunity to get my apple brandy bottle for 155 euros ( yes its original ) and i took the chance and bought it. Im serious, i opened the package and placed my bottle on shelve, i did not try it on. One colder night i was like : what perfume im going to go tonight, oh lets go apple brandy on the rocks. Let me tell you, this perfume is freaking amazing on skin, soo unique and developes from amazing red juicy apple into deep smokey dusty fragrance. Not a fuckboy scent more like i got my shit figgured out. Great scent if you go out for a dinner or theater - 3-4 hours guaranteed. Not a safe pick for noizy and loud clubbing night. I had fun interation with this perfume - i was in cinema and i had problems with paying for my popcorn. Girl who worked there came to help me and after i finished paying i turned to her and she was talking to her coworker and i heard she telling her " this guy smells so good". For me this perfume beats overhyped angel shares ( what is actually pdm oajan 2013 release clone ) Suits more for colder months and nighttime in my opinion. For me perfomance is great, 4 hours is enough for me to wear this perfume. If i want beastmode perfomance and sillage i go diffrent perfumes. Just ordered second backup bottle!

Smelled this one at Sephora with my best friend one day, and of course I had heard about all of the Angel's Shares and was going down the line on the little Killian display. I surprisingly didn't like any of the Angel's Shares at first because of the cognac just being like sniffing into a bottle of liquor on the opening to me at first, but now my nose has matured and I actually quite like it. But at the time, I hated the Angel's Shares and hadn't heard about Apple Brandy OTR. We sprayed it on a tester and we both instantly fell in love. Such a refreshing green apple note with a touch of sweet rum to support it and give it a nice nose while not be overpowering for an alcoholic note with just a touch of spice from the cardamom. I instantly fell in love with it and apples are for some reason one of my favorite realistic scents to smell in a fragrance. Eventually I bought it and the longevity is okay as well as the sillage depending on where you spray. Maintains that sweet apple liquor scent profile for the first couple of hours, and unfortunately dries down to a watered down version of it with a bit of mossiness to it. Definitely a situational wear, but I love any time I can wear it.

A smoothly blended and overall well made boozy apple-pineapple scent, probably my favourite fragrance from 'By Kilian', the opening is apple with some spices and citruses in the back but still quite prominent, but as the refreshing citrus starts to fade, it's replaced by boozy brandy note that's quite tame compared to alcoholic notes used in other Kilian fragrances, the note of pineapple also joins this composition in the mid and duets with the apple quite well, adding a tart-sweet nuance in the mix to counteract the apples pure sweetness + refreshing effect, which is supported by a small albeit noticeable woody-moss kinda scent in the back (which only gets more prominent the longer it dries down). definitely unisex but leans slightly masculine for me, due to the moss in this fragrances, but it can be rocked by either gender, good for all seasons except maybe really hot days, and can be dressed up or down too, quite versatile, As with other 'By Kilian's', I do wish performance and silage lasted longer, but it is what it is, overall this fragrance is definitely worth a try, but the price is quite jarring, so definitely not blind buy safe! Final Verdict is an 9.2/10
