Oooh my oh my. My vial finally arrived (2nd attempt after 1st loss, These things are rare!!) and - this is totally gorgeous! I can't believe the total 180 this one is from B2B, which sadly, I hated lol. I've never, ever smelled a finer apple frag! Ever. Not Ambre Narguile, Boss, Aoud and pine (Montale) nor in Bodecia's Glorious. Not even Maestro Aventus (well maybe Aventus,,) Maybe Goodsir's Or Serail too (but it's too brief and drowned by coconut there) Strangely, going by what few others have been saying, there's no real apple used in here, the note list is also again misleading! It's apparently a combination of a synthetic (manzanate?) and prune. The website also just state 'apple liquer accord' with 'ambroxan'. I'm pretty sure there is some real fruit in here however plums or apples; plum adds a boldness and sweetness that a straight apple cannot produce, many times falling into the 'shampoo' trap which this certainly doesn't, so it makes sense I guess. Interestingly, I definitely get some slightly sweetish 'maple' here too, something bold, full-bodied and totally intoxicating that blends so amazingly with the now booze-turning apple. The sugared apple note is so fine, the booze appears muted. It's like all juicy yet subtly spiced up and winey a bit like those gum candies but stronger. I did a head to head between this and Krigler's famous Estd Cognac - the latter couldn't hold a candle as the apple there is a mere peel in strength and is no where near as sweet and bold. The vanilla note possibly also helps make the opening better and richer than it may have been. The Kilian that almost blew my nose off in B2B has now blown my socks in AB. The drydown I'm not too concerned as the Top already sold me on whenever I ever get the cash to purchase this wallet-rinser but it just kept giving with more sweetness, some powder and waves of what seem like vanilla and tonka/cocoa! It also seems remarkably friendly, the woods are bold but seem to meld into the fine boozy accord with perfection just as Kilian stated in his marketing-blurb. And the hyper-realisitic apple that instantly spices up has to be tested to be believed! Well, I couldn't believe what I was smelling for a while anyway. The woods (cedar?) just stop it from proper summer wear, maybe, so it's not totally perfect but it's all the same if one does anyway. I'm humbled, as I didn't expect anything like this after so many recent disappointments but strangely - this is always how it should have been. One of the Best scents I have ever tried, period. A Masterpiece. Well done Kilian! My rating: 10/10.

I've always been a defender of By Kilian as a brand because when they hit...they hit! Unfortunately some of the recent releases have been sadly lacking, certainly in creativity and those prices are so high, made me start to wonder why I'd been such an apologist. I appreciate the packaging is fantastic but it's style over substance when the scent isn't even good or original and the cardinal sin...it doesn't last. Also...just to make things worse the SA and my local store which stocks By Kilian is dreadfully rude and looks at me like something he just scraped off the bottom of his shoe. Moving on... I'd heard good things about Apple brandy though and was excited to try it and thankfully... I wasn't disappointed. Apple brandy starts out with a lovely warming boozy apple smell, which I was hoping wouldn't be reminiscent of cider and thankfully it isn't. I can't recall ever drinking 'apple' Brandy but this is definitely more of the subtle, infused flavour you'd expect from a fine brandy liqueur. By that I mean it smells like one complete, coherent, entity rather than a apple flavouring on some heavy boozy notes. This is what you get for a good couple of hours then the fragrance reveals that it actually has a really decent strong woody base. This perfectly encapsulates the 'cask' effect a deep and gorgeous oak note which lasted on my skin for hours. There's my favourite labdanum too...you'd be forgiven for thinking this fragrance could be a damp squib and run out of life after that boozy entrance but that's just masking the great basis this fragrance has in wood and resin. Apple Brandy is definitely up there in terms of creativity with the likes of B2B and Straight to Heaven rather than many poorer efforts, which shall remain nameless. It's even better than those two in my my book because it performs better that S2H and I prefer the smell to B2B. A winner here from By Kilian but because it's apparently not available in the refill or atomiser pack, I won't be buying it anytime soon. Longevity 10 hours easy but it does go very low on the skin quite quickly and doesn't project all that much but that doesn't matter.

Eager to try this after hearing that it was very similar to By Kilian Single Malt, which I loved, Apple Brandy did not disappoint. First, it is, as I'd seen reported, very similar to Single Malt, which itself came out only last year, two years after Apple Brandy. Both are very boozy and sweet. Whereas Single Malt doesn't branch off too much from the main sweet whiskey vibe, Apple Brandy, as expected, ever so slightly veers in the direction of apple and spices. So it's Single Malt with a slight transformation that highlights a spicy apple vibe. Great on projection and longevity, this expensive fragrance (like Single Malt, $295 for 50ml) merits a try and comparison to Single Malt. Apple Brandy seems slightly more popular than Single Malt, and I admit that I still need to compare them side by side at the same time on skin, but I can offer that I like the balance of Single Malt somewhat more, though Apple Brandy is a superb fragrance. Both are standouts, and Apple Brandy delivers the sweet whiskey vibe with the apple and spicy highlights--I don't get much in terms of individual notes beyond that. 8 out of 10

A lovely scent! It's like getting in the cellars that they store the most expensive brandy, with the oak barrels and the fruity nuances of the brandy! It's very dry scent from the woods, the oak and the cedar, the brandy gives some sweetness to the fragrance compined with the vanilla and the apple uplifts it and makes it playful. It's a linear scent, it doesn't develop much but the smell is so addicting! Performance is ok, not great but good enough. It lasts about 7 hours on my skin and projects good for the first two. I find it quite versatile but mostly for nights out or a date. It has an upscale character, it smells expensive and it's not that casual. It's completely unisex to me and it will get attention and compliments! Overall, i really love it and i can't stop smelling it! It's very sad that this is so hard to find nowadays because it's for sure one of the best Kilians out there. If you can still find it and you like this type of fragrances give this a try!

The drydown is quite nice but you will smell like apple cider spiked with booze for a while, before you get there! To me, this is what "niche" does best, though of course it's not cheap. Now an interesting question is, should this sell for more than Patou Pour Homme is selling for these days? On the one hand, there are several scents that smell somewhat similar to PPH, but on the other hand, if AB can be created in 2013, why can't some other niche company come along and create something nearly identical for perhaps $70 per 50 ml? It would be nice if an "industry insider" could speak to this! Note that if you feel you get poor projection, you can try spraying something like Unbreakable on your back, then putting your shirt on after giving it some time to dry and after you've sprayed AB to your chest.

Ohh, this is a surprise. I am really disliking gourmands with the heavy cinnamon note, and almost all in this category has that in abundance. This one, does not! A great scent from Killian, I must say this perfume took me by surprise. At first it's like you opened a very nice apple tinted booze and sprayed it on yourself. Lovely hahha. But as the scent develops it mellows quite quickly to this subtle interesting and sweet but not cloying wonderful thing. Yum, thats all I can say. Definitely full bottle worthy and suitable for both everyday use and for special occasions. A good bland of being special but understated at the same time. A solid 9 out of 10 for me, the development overall effect somehow reminds me a tad bit of Oriana (Parfums de Marly), but less sweet and less characteristic. Great.

I saved the best for last. This is great guys. Hyped for a reason. Worth its retail if you enjoy boozy scents. I don't see where people get boozy as a note on 80% of fragrances , but I do on this. If brown sugar was an alcoholic drink with wood and hints of vanilla, here ya go. It's so sexy. The apple note is to die for too. Great job. I am going to own three of the 6 exclusive samples full bottles. Well, I have single malt on left hand and apple brandy on the other. They are not the same scents, however...I will say, if you own one, you really don't need the other. I personally got a bottle of single malt as I deem it full bottle worthy all day. I do like apple b a lot too, but there's a brown sugar note that seems a little rich, I do like the apple note though...

I very much enjoy this scent. For me, Lumineri's description as cognac aged in a wooden barrel is a great depiction of the image I get when I smell this. The opening is apple filled for me and sweet but very quickly dominated by a oak/cedar but then eases off and I get the hint of cognac and amber. I agree the dry down slightly sweetens with infusion of vanilla. This fragrance is extremely complex but well balanced and whereas woody scents are not amongst my favorites, for me, Apple Brandy is magnificent. I can see this becoming amongst my favorites and would be wonderful for an evening out with a cigar and a glass of cognac. Well done Kilian!

Just tried this at Sephora and immediately bought a bottle. For some reason, I thought I wouldn't like this, that it would be strong and masculine with little sweetness, but it's the direct opposite. On its own, it's a clean, sharp woody (yes boozy) apple unlikely to offend anyone. 🍎 I combine it with SDV, or the 7 Virtues Vanilla Woods, for extra yumminess and sexinesss. I had no problem with longevity and I usually do. Probably my favorite from a brand I tend to have a lot of issues with. It's unisex but I don't know too many men who want to smell this fruity. The notes are not complete, there's definitely apple in this among other things.

Love, Love, Love. The lack of longevity makes me sad. If it were longer lasting I would buy it in a heartbeat. What's the point of making such a beautiful, high quality product when it's not around long enough to really enjoy it? Surely the testers at by Kilian don't sit around going, "hey, if we make this scent really weak people will have to buy more"? This, I feel, is the bane of my perfume habit; finding one you can truly love, only to have it lack the oomph to make it worthy of a purchase. After sniffing my wrist again though, I may have to give in at some point.

I don't know how they did it, but this smells like a bowl of apples stewing in booze inside an oak barrel. Only four accords are listed, which I find to be bizarre; the olfactory system is wonderful and how they are able to manipulate my senses to smell a glass of apple brandy earns my praise. It's rare and hard to find at the time of this review. Do yourself a favor and at least sample this gem. The "on the rocks" flanker provides a more airy, light wearing experience without all the booze.

Interesting scent. Opens with a boozy sweetness, almost syrupy, with some apple. That starts to fade in about 30 minutes and in the mid and drydown, i get very much an oak barrel prominence. Its quite nice. Projection is not great, sits close. But longevity isnt too bad, 5-8 hours. For this reason, this could absolutely be worn in warmer weather in my opinion. Its not overbearing unless you really overspray. Overall I enjoy this but isnt worth what they are asking for it.

Big fan of Kilian - but this was too heavy on the apple for me. It smells like an apple barn in the fall or warm apple cider. In terms of the boozy scent, I found it very light in that area which is a shame since I think that side of the fragrance would have balanced out the very linear apple. A very nice scent but personally not for me to wear. It falls into those scents I like very much but doesn't seem fitting as a scent for the body. I'd rather have this as a candle.

This IS the BEST By Kilian perfume ever released. The New "on the eocks" is, as Its name suggests, a watered-down, although nice smelling perfume. Ubique, mind blowing smell with huge projection and longevity, unlike the new one. Why IS this brand releasing sub-par offerings compared to the original ones? Come on Kilian, after all, you are charging the same. You changed the perfume game, now you have become another one of "those" brands. The same goes for Tom Ford.

I love the original blend. It was masculine and reminded me of my grandfather, who used to smoke a pipe with apple-weed tobacco. I wish they did not discontinue it. I do not like the "on the rocks" version. This newer version is more floral and feminine - and I guess mass appealing. Too bad. I bought a bottle of the newer version (before smelling) - wore it maybe twice, then gave it away. The original is much, much better in my humble opinion. At least for a man.

Sorry but the more I wear this, the more I am able to distinguish it between single malt. SM is more cedar wood, this is more sweet with a apple note that is to die for. I think I need to own both now. I love love love single malt. But I put some of this on from a decant earlier and it's still going strong and has developed into a apple booze scent that dull, not cloying or sharp with a woody base. Ohhhhhh.....I need it now. Darn

The name says it all...It is a warm boozy apple flavoured cognac brandy perfectly aged in a wooden barrel. Definitly blended beautifully and is fit of the Kilian name. It stays fairly linear throughout, but this is not a bad thing. You'll get a fading apple throughout life of the scent until you're left with an exquisite vanilla infused brandy at the drydown. Magnificent fragrance and a great dedication to "The Big Apple".

In my top 3 scents of all time, this delivers everything I look for in a fragrance. It's a linear scent on my skin, but that's PERFECT because I love the apple brandy smell and don't want it to turn into some generic drydown. The name of the fragrance really says it all - it's apple, it's brandy, and it's mighty sexy. Reserved for special occasions, this is a perfect date/night out scent during the colder months. LOVE IT.

If Single Malt is wearing a three piece suit to the black tie event then this is the after party. No apple note but blended to create the accord. One of the most unique scents today. The Alexandria clone is close but falls short due to being too boozy “almost hangover” nuance. This is perfection to me. Arms length, 8 hour longevity with whiffs after too. A fucking masterpiece. Not a word I use often.

Wow. What a gorgeous smell. One of the best compliments I got was when I wore this perfume. It smells really relaxing, sweet and delicious. It reminds me of some vanilla cognac. I'm so confused, how does this smell the way it does? I love it so much. I'm a big fan of fruity warm scents, they're easy to wear all year round and most people enjoy them without finding them headache-inducing! It really does smell exactly as the name suggests and I mix mine with by the fireplace for a warmer, cozier vibe! Delicious, deep, and fun!

This smells amazing!!!! Can't wait to rock this gem in the colder months. I'm ready to wear my black Polo sweater, dark jeans, chelsea boots, and bust out that leather jacket and gatsby hat. Rock this frag, while all my fan boy friends are wearing Aventus. We will see who smells more interesting, and who isn't following the crowd.

Simply marvelous. On first sniff, it jumped into my top 5 of all time. On second wear, my top 3. 3rd wear it is now my second favorite frag only behind Tobacco Vanille and I can see it overtaking the top spot despite it being much less versatile. 10/10. Edi 5/9/21: my favorite fragrance, period.

Kilian is one of the best when it comes to these type of scents. This really smells like something I'd love to drink. It's like drinking apple cider straight from an oak wood barrel. Very realistic picturesque scent, delicious smelling and addictive. Sweet and woody and leaning masculine. 10/10

Oh man, that opening! The brandy note is so realistic! How the heck did they do that??? This boozy bomb goes from freshly poured brandy, to aged whisky barrel, to dry whisky cellar. A relatively simple fragrance with accords that were magnificently well done. Do not wear this to an AA meeting.

Gave this one a full wearing recently. Verdict - excellent scent. Good performance and the smell is terrific. There is definitely booziness in here and the quality of ingredients seems to be top notch. Would like to own this some day hopefully..

This is a fairly unique scent. I love the tart green apple note combined with the boozy Brandi note. Pretty straightforward and linear, but it caught me off gaurd by how much I truly enjoyed this one! My Score: 9.5

Waaay better and longer lasting than the “on the rocks” version. The best Kilian in my opinion. Hard to find since they only sell it in the NY store. But well worth the trouble getting it.

Traces of apple and woody scent on the opening, followed by whiskey scent. I actually kinda love it. However, the longevity is very weak, it lasted about 30-90 minutes on me.

the smell of spiced wine and/or a dense candies/preserved fruit cake. it's the smell of christmas!!! notes of apple and maybe a deep red wine, but mostly preserved fruits...

i think apple brandy is a decent release from killan. Different from what they've already got. Not a bad idea to throw in something like this once in a while.. Lately i tend to choose more wearable, slightly more discrete, original as possible aka "unique" with a nice flavoured amount of appeal kind of scents. Now that's alot of demands isn,t it..? Apple brandy is pretty sweet, not so versatile, not really discrete, no mass appeal.. but quite original in it's genre. I like it but don,t love it and it performs well. Straight away i get the apple, the brandy and quite a huge dose of the wood packed in a very thin blanket of the vanilla. Fortunately the vanilla is the least prominent note, good job on that one. To me the presence of the woodsmell (oak barrel that is really dry) gives this the right touch. It also smells like a strong dry tobacco drenched in some sweet apple brandy. That's it really, it opens instantly wiht all those notes and all of them are easily detectable. If i have to give a con than that would be that i am curious how this would smell like if it was just a touch less sweet but that doesn,t really matter since it is what it is and it's ok. Good stuff and something different from by killian. If you think this is to bold or sweet and would like it a bit softer and more vanillic then you might want to check single malt. For tobacco fans this might also be worth checking out since it really has a tobacco spirit from beginning to end. Decent but still not top especially for the price. cheers

This scent is more apple brandy barrel than actual apple brandy. The oak and sweet resin are big players that really dominate most of the odor profile. The vanilla and cedar really take a backseat to create that pseudo-boozy baked apple note, ever present yet playing second fiddle. But the oak is there in the open, it's heaviest in the mid, and it's still hanging around in the dry down. That's not a knock on the fragrance at all, as it still plays out wonderfully. It's a bit linear in that it doesn't stray from it's name, but that's its strength. Very rich, very high quality, and expertly crafted. The rumors are true though: The performance is absolutely horrendous. It's even worse when you consider how much a bottle of this will dent a wallet. With two to three decant sprays, I get maybe an hour of actual sillage. It projects off my skin for a half hour or so, and then there's another half hour (give or take) of some trailing. After that, it's a very tight scent bubble for a bit before moving quickly to a skin scent. It does sit on the skin, albeit faintly, for a while, but one expects more than a long lasting skin scent at this cost. Sillage: 4/10 Longevity: 6.5/10 Personal Appeal: 8/10 Wife Appeal: 6/10 (Too much woody vanilla) When To Wear: Fall date nights. Overall: 7/10

To me Apple Brandy is the quintessential « fall in a bottle » fragrance, period. It reminds me of this upcoming time of the year where countless people share on social media (Too many) pictures of their family trips picking up apples in orchards, all smiling, in the fall. Then how they go into the cabin for a snack and drinks, pretty much with everything apple based. This is actually an apple cider. A warm, dense, extremely comforting and enveloping one. Boozy red apple with granular brown-sugar added, accentuating the sweet side and bringing in a unique "texture". Then it's put to rest for a long time, aging in a big, thick and old oak barrel as the woodsy note is very preeminent as well here. Do I enjoy it? Yes I do. But I wouldn’t wear it every day. Nothing close to a “signature” scent, I’d get tired of it. This is really one of those realistic, occasional fragrances for a particular moment or mood. In this case I use it on colder, fresh and grey fall days of course. With the red, orange and yellow leaves on the ground and the calm yet gloomy aspect of autumn on full display, Kilian’s Apple Brandy shines so bright and is almost as efficient as a red and black plaid comforter, a wool sweater and a hot coffee while staying in on a lazy Sunday in October.

Very strong opening of cognac and stewed apples. My dog loved it! The boozy stewed apples stuck around on me for about 30 minutes. I got a little bit of a smoky vanilla and spicy skin scent but this fragrance was gone in a flash on me. My skin just drank it up and after 45 minutes there was no trace of it left on my clothing or skin. Not at all what I was hoping for, I’m so happy I got a sample when I bought my Straight to Heaven Extreme. That fragrance is out of this world and I get great longevity and sillage. So happy they rereleased it. I would not suggest blind buying, everyone’s chemistry is different and I can tell from some of the other reviews that this is a fantastic fragrance on some people. My dog probably would have stolen it from me anyway.

WHY is APPLE not listed in the notes? Is there a way to request notes be added? This is super apple candy sweet in the opening but settles into a slightly more mature scent with tabacco and woods in the dry down. Smooth, as expected from Kilian. Perfectly unisex if you can handle the syrupy style. Very nice but too fruity and sweet on me to be a signature scent even with the woods making it more wearable. Glad to have had it in my collection but would not repurchase. UPDATE Wasted Moment is VERY close and has double the lasting power. Both are too heavy and sweet in the opening but the dry down is nice. I found both more enjoyable in cooler temps.

Apple Brandy is very pleasant, more so than most of the other Kilians, but perhaps second to Straight to Heaven. These 2 actually are not that dissimilar, I find they share the same basic DNA and they differentiate in some important details, for example Apple Brandy has a very evident apple note, which I am surprised to not see listed in the pyramid. Also the vanilla is more intense here. As the 2 fragrances progress, the differentiate more. Overall Apple Brandy is delightful. 8.5/10

This is a aged brandy soaked oak barrel I have been to enough winery's to know this scent. So I don't get apple at all. The amber note comes from the labdanum it's sorto just wafts here and there. And Cedar is most defiantly not red but the atlas because with the oak you kinda sorta get an apple vibe but barely. It's much of a projector it's not ment to be because people will think you can't handle your liquor. It's not offensive just a nice sweet woody scent with amber whispers.

There's only a little bit of cinnamoney apple in here, but mostly it's oak soaked in brandy without being overpoweringly boozy. Definitely a unique take on a boozy scent but i think it takes a more mature person 35+ to pull this one off. Edit: After a few wearings over a month, the vanilla is a lot more present and the labadunum is more noticeable. Super smooth and inoffensive, super expensive though, even for a killian.

I don't know how did they manage to create this, but it really smells like some kind of an alcoholic drink poured freshly from an oak barrel, super realistic. It reminds me of Tokaji white wine rather than brandy. (If you have never tried it, I can heavily recommend it!) Although I appreciate the scent, it's not something I'd wear. Maybe it would be better for layering than using it as a standalone scent in my opinion.

Strong boozy 'rum in a glass' opening. Dries down to a boozy warm honey/vanilla. Apple note is not a tangy fresh green apple but more of a warm 'stewed apple' vibe. Unfortunately on my skin the apple note disappears quickly and the scent dries down into a more generic warm woody vanilla. Nice scent but not as 'apple prominent' as I was hoping for. 7.5/10

Nice. Very much like a softer, more "personal" version of Black Phantom. Personal in the sense it is a "skin scent" you can detect on the back of your hand during the day, but no one else is going to notice. For me that's fine. I don't wear fragrance for "others" or looking for compliments on my fragrance. AF has the best Clone of both.
