Gold Knight

I wasn’t sure what to expect from Gold Knight, but as I’ve had so much success with this house with such perfumes like Intoxicated, Back to Black, A Taste of Heaven, Straight To Heaven Extreme, Smoke For The Soul, Apple Brandy, Noir Aphrodisiaque, and Single Malt, I knew I had to give a bottle a try even without testing it. First reaction: not what I was expecting. It’s cold out and I don’t think I’m in the right mood. The quality is there, I like pieces of it, but I’m not in the right mood. Did I make a mistake? Second wearing: ok, I know what to expect. I’m in the mood and this is good, really good. Definitely not a mistake! Back to Black vibe like others mentioned but with a floral aspect that is somewhat dandyfied. Warm honey. Develops and interacts in a couple different ways. Yes, very pleasant olfactory experience for sure. A big fan of anise but however it’s done in this, my nose isn’t picking it up in way like it does with for example, Lolita Lempicka. I can see why the ratings on this are off. Most people get a chance to smell frags once and if lucky get a complete wearing and then write a review. If I were to only wear this once or sample it haphazardly, I’m not sure what I would write. It’s not completely unusual but it has an unusal aspect at first. You see you have a somewhat masculine aspect competing with a light feminine aspect. Very interesting in that respect. It’s marketed as a men’s fragrance and this is definitely not a manly man’s fragrance. You have to stick with this one a little more than 15 minutes if you’re a male. In fact you will need a few wearings at different times and moods. I actually think it would be much more appealing to a woman sensual wise. It’s a very sensual fragrance, but if you can get used to it, give it a full wearing, you’ll see it’s high level of competence. Most perfumes are made to grab you at first. A lot of times you can get sick of those easily. This one is like the wise turtle that catches up with the hare that is fast out of the gates. The turtle is rewarded at the finish line. Kilian has been making fragrances for a while now on his own terms, and it’s a fragrance that is definitely an example of an experienced director that knows it’s not about just the intro, but the long term. This is a wise perfume that isn’t going after anything or competing for anything other than a pure sensual experience of satisfaction. Easily a 4.25 out of 5.

I don't get the hate on this! I blind bought a full bottle half off, complete with the impressive coffret that is quite heavy. I use it as a small jewelry box for cufflinks because you can take the fragrance bottle insert out. Props to Kilian for the best packaging. The bottle itself is also very nice, having the ceramic with neat designs in it. The refill system is actually ingenious; it stops filling once it's full. Mind you, you can just buy the refill and fill your own bottle/atomizer to save money if you don't care for the extras. But I think the coffret/bottle is worth it--especially if you don't have other Kilians. This and Moonlight in Heaven have the best coffret/box. Scent-wise, other reviewers are correct that it's similar to Back to Black. Put plainly short, it's a darker version of Back to Black with an extra dose of honey and much less powdery-ness. There's some chocolate-like qualities to it, and the patchouli mixes perfectly with it. It's not for everyone, but it's for most. It's niche, but not really anyone is going to find it awful. Most will like it. I say that as someone from the rather conservative Southern USA. I hate to use the word, but it's sultry--just what you'd wanna wear on that hot date. It's suave, almost edible. It's not so dark that it's not fresh, but it's not so fresh that it's generic and only good for Summer. Tom Ford would call it unisex, but this is definitely a man's scent. It pairs well with its sister, Woman in Gold, which I just bought my girlfriend. How romantic! The season for this is probably best suited for Fall/Winter, but I could see this being year-round, especially if worn at night. This isn't the best office fragrance, as it's pretty heavy and smells like a date. However, I'll still wear to the office--even with my suits. My friends had a pool party last month in the heat of August in Mississippi, and let me tell you: this scent carried across the air incredibly well--absolute sillage monster! Lasted well in the heat, too. I got compliments from 2 different friends on 2 occasions that evening who were very impressed with it; neither of whom are fragrance nerds. 9.5/10 full bottle worthy (sometimes 10/10 or 8.5/10), 10/10 sillage beast, 9/10 longevity (performance here has varied for me, but overall has been great).

I bought the 30ml travel set off of the back of testing from a couple of samples I was given ...... God damn, this is a beautiful monster! That combination of anise and honey just is the best thing ever, whilst the weight of the vanilla is spot on. The patch gets just the right amount of dirty for a By Kilian..... I bloody love this!! I’ve tried several from the house over the past couple of years and whilst I’ve not disliked any in particular, I’ve never been wowed enough to buy any, weighted against their cost but with Gold Knight, I didn’t hesitate for a second. It was the anise that won me over, no question and at points in its development, I could definitely detect echoes of Jacques Cavalier‘s Opium pour Homme EDP (blue case original, minus the black currant) which, being a MASSIVE fan of, sealed the deal. In some respects, I’m a bit disappointed that I didn’t buy the 50ml in it’s beautiful Klimt inspired coffret but at the end of the day, I’m not sure I could wear this one too often to justify it. It’s a stunning fragrance but heavy..... very heavy and for me, 2 sprays on skin gives me 10+ hours longevity, with a good 4ft + projection & huge sillage..... and on clothes, it lasts for days in cold weather; it’s just that bold on me, so what I’ve bought will last a long time. Big, bold, brash & unapologetic...... but a classy and refined bad boy too. You’ve definitely got to wear this one with confidence. You can’t just put it on casually and forget about it: it’s not possible and besides, it won’t let you.

I actually really like this fragrance. I do understand where people are coming from when saying it is too similar to Back to Black. They don't start out the same but do get more similar as time goes on. I would say Gold Knight reminds me of a flanker to Back to Black. In Gold Kight, that smoky tobacco note and the fruity notes (cherry/raspberry) are replaced with anise. The anise gives Gold Knight a medicinal note that I quite like. I find the two fragrances quite different in the beginning. They get more similar when the honey note starts to make it's presence known. I do like how the anise note in Gold Knight cuts through the honey note. It cools the scent down a bit whereas the cherry/raspberry notes in BTB add a bit more heat and sweetness. I wore these scents side by side and like them pretty equally. I get monster lasting power with both. I still smell them both the next morning. I get good projection with both too. That said, I already own BTB and can't see adding another $300 honey fragrance. If I didn't own BTB, it would be a tough call between the two. I could see Gold Knight being perfect for someone who likes honey but wants a scent that is a bit cooler then BTB.

Pure elegance! It took me some time to appreciate this perfume but now i love it. Kilian was inspired from a painting created by Gustav Klimt called "The golden knight" and imagined this perfume and the presentation (this coffret!). I think that this fragrance brings all the elegant, noble and mascluline elements of this knight in gold. This perfume is refined, it's sweet but not in a cute way, it's sexy, dark and seductive. The honey is the main note here, a bit animalic, compined with an earthy but not dirty patchouli, bergamot, anise that gives a kind of fresh vibe and vanilla. Performance is beastly, it lasts for more than 14+ hours on my skin with good projection. The sillage of this fragrance is addictive and you will appreciate it more if you smell it on someone else. This leans masculine in my opinion, i can imagine it on a date, night, in a black shirt. I am not the biggest fan of Kilian but this has grabbed my attention! It's a grower..

Love it. Don't get the anise or bergamot, but the rest is amazing. The honey stays for ages on my skin with the vanilla and patchouli supporting at the back. Really don't get the Opium pour homme references, as don't get anything close to Opium, and I am sitting here now with a bottle of Opium aftershave, and a bottle of EDT from 17 and 18 years ago (both in very good condition) . Maybe it smells like OPIUM edp which I haven't smelled? Gold Knight is lovely though, with excellent longevity and very good sillage. Prefer it to Back to Black. EDIT - Getting better and better. On a cold day, the strength of this is unbelievable. Still nothing like Opium and in fact not even a note smells similar. I have honestly never smelt anything else like this - in the best possible way.

Not sure how I feel about this one, although I will say from the notes and really even the scent, you would assume this is a cold weather scent. However, I feel it comes across fairly flat in the lower temps and in warmer spring weather the anis really helps lift the whole thing. I was initially unimpressed, but wearing it in warmer temps has had me reconsider my opinion, at least a little. I will still say it seems fairly basic and personally I feel it’s a more dry smelling honey rather than syrupy sweet. Would still likely prefer others over this including the l’Envol line, and the original Givenchy Gentleman, which I find personally more interesting.

Recently picked up Kilian’s cellars discovery set and this is one of the vials. After today’s wear, I’m seriously thinking of grabbing the 50ml refill. This is a sweet, earthy intoxicating drop. Beautifully blended. The honey and patchouli take this to a different dimension. Somebody mentions there’s a mint smell. I get this minty green aroma to begin, possibly from the anise, but it settles down and blends in. I’ve never owned a Kilian before. The price had put me off buying a bottle, but the quality merits an investment. I’m going in. Outstanding frag 👌🏻 Edit: The projection during the first 3-4 hours is insane. That’s off 3 dots. 🔥

This fragrance is definitely unisex for sure. The honey in this scent is more of a smooth/creamy type of expensive honey. For someone that wants to smell expensive, yet yummy at the same time... you will not be disappointed! (If you have ever tried manuka honey or clover honey, the scent will be extremely similar to those expensive honey) For some unknown reason, I can’t seem to like Woman in Gold that much comparing to Gold Knight. Woman in Gold is a more mature scent, while Gold Knight can work on both men and women. (My husband said “it smells like honey... just honey” when I sprayed it on him)

Starting with a almost clove like smell together w anise, its a extremely pleasing honey, not to sweet and more dense and raw, it has a top off sweet bergamott, simply its a patchouli honey spice perfume, its not loud or airy so its a long lasting mid projecting night time fragrance, very calming and mature, I dont often say this but this smells like a rich persons parfum, natural rich and smooth For ppl worried about the anise i can say its very subtle and well blended, its what the other ppl describe as menthol like, its not in the least minty to my nose

This one is definitely noteworthy. Gold Knight has this bergamot-anise bite in its opening. Then it dries down to this warm, vanilla-honey-patchouli bomb. But there are some notes in there apart from the listed ones, that I cannot quite put my finger on; which gives the scent this Opium pour Homme-esque opulent, spicy, sassy kick that i've been seaching for for years. Especially in the drydown. This is truly the closest I got to that holy grail. Replace the bergamot with black currant, pepper it up a tad bit and you've got Opium pour Homme.

This is simply a masterpiece! The best honey based fragrance by far as it accurately captures the texture of honey. Opens with a beautiful mix of honey and anise, that stays through the entirety of the composition, as well as a slight freshness coming from the bergamot. The freshness takes a step back after half an hour and makes room for a chocolatey patchouli, the kind you would find in some of prufumum romas creations. This wonderful concoction is elegant, sexy, and refined and will therefore always have a place in my collection.

It's an enormous L for Killian for discontinuing this fragrance. One of the sexiest scents I have in my collection. Powerful honey bomb enveloped by anise, definitely autumn/winter night time scent, perfect for a date. There's this perfumery called "Shobi", which recreates most fragrances for a fraction of their price, and their clone of Gold Knight is EXTREMELY close to the original. Slightly more mellow opening,g but after an hour it becomes nearly indistinguishable. It's called "1194-KIL N", give it a try, amazing stuff!

One of my favorite Kilians, takes the honey of back to black dials it back and adds in an interesting anise and bergamot mix that seems to almost feel like a mint and honey accord. Mildly sweet, but also bright. Dry down brings some cleaner facets making it masculine to my nose in a classy gentleman sort of way, not a cologne style or anything like that but something that might be worn in the evening instead of that type of fragrance by a mature gent.

Love this upon trying out at the store. Wanted to get the one without the coffret but none was available so I decide to get the Playing with the Devil instead. At the cashier I couldn’t resist rushing back to get this also. The scent was so beautiful. Upon reaching home, I checked Fragrantica and saw the remind me of section and checked my collection, true enough it’s very similar to YSL Opium pour Homme I already own. Love it!

Earthy honey; very warm and mentholated with a slight hint of fermentation. The patchouli only amplifies the earthiness of this scent, its greenness compliments the honey note very well. There's a cord of lightly sweet vanilla, but it is definitely in the background. Cold weather only, this is one of those scents that only requires body heat. Major sillage, leaves a long trail and projects massively off the skin and clothes.

Wow, So good you could eat it. A powerful honey right from the start and last right through all the notes. Exactly what it says in the note breakdown this is what you get. Sprayed this once and as soon as my partner got her nose on it she was in love with it. (So I guess I'm sharing) Well worth the money and if you love honey and sweet fragrances it's a good buy and well worth the price tag. My new favourite Kilian 👍🏻👍🏻

Very classy and seductive. One of the best honey-vanilla fragrances I've ever smelled. I really love the honey in this, not too sweet but very refined high quality honey (unlike Pure Havane as an example). Yes, it shares some similarities with Back to Black but you can certainly notice the difference and Gold Knight is more well blended. Very expensive but if you can afford it, just go for it. Compliment magnet!

I’m a fan and likely to buy a FB. Opens with an interesting bergamot (as it’s mixed with anise). The honey, patchouli and anise work well together throughout the duration of the wearing. Keeps it interesting, seductive, sexual, but also casual enough to wear anywhere social. The honey is not animatic or too powdery. And there are not too many frag-hags hyping it up, so you won’t smell like many people. Nice one.

What a powerhouse of a scent. Strong vibrant honey. Once you get past the honey you find that slight menthol like anise/licorice mixed with patchouli. There is a freshness here that makes it quite an enjoyable gourmand. Vanilla doesnt seem as apparent to me as say Tobacco Vanille, but you get a very similar scent profile at first but the dry down and fresh aspect on this one makes it so much more enjoyable.

I love this. The notes are spot on but without being overly technical if you like honey you'll like this. It's an airy honey not the syrupy kind of honey scent,blending it with the cinnamon achieved this. I grew up near an apiary and this scent brings back memories of that. Yeah,this is good juice and 100% unisex regardless of the marketing, just remember and I stress, you'll love this if you love honey.

This is an absolute beauty for those accustomed to niche perfumery. It's quite a simple fragrance, but that in no way impinges on its beauty. The opening is very sharp licorice note with some mild honey, and after about 20-30 minutes, you get a gorgeous raw honey, which eventually dries down to a honey and patchouli combination. Absolutely intoxicating and amazing performance to boot. Easy 10/10 for me.

i know this is considered a "masculine" fragrance, but i find it to be wearable by pretty much anyone. i wear it when i want to smell rich and powerful--it evokes the idea of someone knows what they're doing, who is confident, but who is also someone that is approachable. the notes are beautifully blended and the projection on it is amazing. i only need about two sprays for it to last all night.

Classy honey balanced by patchouli and a spicy anise note. Feels right at home in a suit and tie in cold weather. The honey isn’t as saccharine as in Back to Black and it’s much better balanced here than B2B. Fairly linear. I get 10-12 hours longevity with 2-3 projection. An 8.0/10 for me. An upscale scent that doesn’t get me the compliments of its brother Back to Black but a scent I enjoy more.

Very powerful, sillage and exceptionally long-lasting scent! In this perfume I love the anise/honey contrast, really interesting. The honey note predominates, it is a dense, full-bodied honey. I can safely say that it is an impactful, enveloping and very present perfume. Definitely suitable for the cold months. Handsome💛❄️ Sillage : 9/10 Longevity : 10/10 Scent : 8/10 Overall : 8/10

As with most niche fragrances, Gold Knight elicits a strong preference; one either appreciates it or does not. Its genuine, potent honey accord exhibits exceptional longevity and projection. Its less formal character than Angel's Share makes it well-suited for daily winter use. However, owing to its remarkable performance, careful application is advised to prevent overspraying. 9/10

Not a review, but a response to @Chesco. Was curious about the same thing, but did a quick google and apparently it's different. There's aniseed and star anise. Star anise is stronger than common aniser and the scent and flavour are more potent. I'm guessing Gold Knight by Kilian uses common anise considering that Fragrantica has star anise as a seperate note.

Love this scent. There is not real so Ilarotycto back to black except that this share the joy of honey. This is very spicy and rich. I smell honey with cinnamon and a hint of vanilla for the first half, and then the. Jnnamon subsides, leaving mainly honey and vanilla. Average longevity and average sillage.

I bought this purely based on the community's recognition that it contains strong honey notes, and I wanted something similar to Pacoma's Gatsby from 1987. This is close, but the honey and musky notes are more pronounced in this, making it more sophisticated. Really beautiful fragrance though.

It smells so goood 😊 my favorite Kilian so far. Lovely honey I personally enjoy this one more than Back to Black.I almost skipped this one because of the different perceptions of some people here on Fragrantica, I guess you just have to try.

I much prefer this than back to black. The honey in this stays beautiful. I have been searching for honey perfume that does not go too powdery on my skin. It is leaning masculine in the opening but afterwards, I think this is unisex.

Love this one. It's mainly honey, anise and an earthy tobacco like patchouli. I put it on at 4pm and I can still detect it at 11pm even after washing my hands a couple times. Scent 8.5/10 Performance 7.5/10

Intense honey backed by anise and patchouli. I love this honey because it has no unnecessary ingredients and is sorid. I plan to have this and Black Phantom in rotation this winter.

A big blast of sweet, natural anise that lasts until the end. Lovely manuka honey with the anise sweetening the bitterness. Truly unisex, just beautiful.

Ypu can actually layer it with Replica by the fire place and will give you a nice cozy burned honey but bad burned delicious burned

Honey , anise, patchouli, bergamot, vanilla. It’s pure and classy. 8/10 longevity and Sillage are worth price of admission.

I love this and I finally realized why. The drydown is so similar to FM Musc Ravageur.

A scent between Back to Black and Tobacco Vanille

It’s a memory which I can’t recall! Elegance !

Moving right along, today I'm looking at another fragrance from By Kilian that doesn't get talked about. In fact, I don't think I've ever heard a single person mention this one. The fragrance in question; Gold Knight. In fact, the only reason I ended up grabbing this was because I saw it while searching for others from the house I wanted, and I thought the name seemed interesting. I'm not sure what to ascertain from the name, maybe something ambery? Let's get into it and find out; Scent: The opening is sweet, spicy, and woody. The primary notes I get are honey, anise, vanilla, and patchouli. The strongest of the notes are the honey and anise. The honey note in this fragrance is very reminiscent of the honey note I encountered in Back To Black; sweet, heavy, and natural but not so overwhelming that other notes cant shine through. Right underneath the honey is the anise note. This is my first experience with the note, and it comes across to me as warm and spicy with a distinct licorice-like accord. In fact, if you had told me this is just a licorice note I would have believed you; it's that strong. Up next is the patchouli and vanilla. The patchouli is present in the opening as a stage of woody and slightly earthy accords for the honey and anise to play upon. Lastly, the vanilla wafts in and out of the background with a subtle and creamy sweetness. The dry down is sweet, spicy, and powdery. The primary notes I get are still honey, anise, vanilla, and patchouli. The strongest of the notes are still the honey and anise. The honey is still the star of the show in the dry down, and has the same sticky sweet accord. In fact, I would say it's even a bit stronger in the dry down. Remaining just underneath the honey is the anise with the same warm and spicy licorice tone. Like the honey, it seems to have ramped up a bit in the dry down for more of a licorice kick. This is followed by the vanilla and patchouli. The vanilla still has the same creamy sweetness from the opening, but it has also adopted a powderiness that wasn't there in the opening. Lastly, the patchouli still forms a foundation of woodiness in the dry down but it too has acquired a powdery quality. Between the creamy vanilla and woody patchouli, the powdery accord is strong enough to almost resemble sandalwood. Performance: Initial projection within the first hour is strong and reaches out about 6 feet. Sillage is very strong and leaves a dense and heavy scent trail. After a few hours the projection was unchanged and the scent trail was just a tad lighter but still easily noticeable. At the 8 hour mark the projection was still about the same. The fragrance lasted at least 12 hours before becoming a skin scent. When to wear: Gold Knight is a fall/winter fragrance best suited for evening wear. Although the fragrance does focus on sweetness, it has enough depth and contrast to be suitable for both casual or formal applications. Dress it down and go to a party, or dress it up and go to a wedding. This is also a perfect pick for date nights or anniversaries. I still wouldn't wear it to the office though, as it's just too strong for that setting. Blind buy: Take Back to Black and replace the tobacco with licorice, that's essentially what you have here. If that sounds like something up your alley, Gold Knight is probably a pretty safe blind buy for you. Similarly, if you just like sweet and spicy fragrances in general, this is a safe bet for you as well. Final verdict: To me, this fragrance is essentially Back to Black with licorice instead of tobacco. I really enjoyed Back to Black, so in some ways I enjoyed Gold Knight as well. I'll be honest, I'm not the biggest fan of licorice or anise notes in general. There are a few exceptions, such as Sauvage Elixir (love that stuff), but by and large I don't seek out fragrances with those notes. Gold Knight smelled nice, but not nice enough for me to consider it an exception. Performance, like I've come to expect from the house as of late, is powerful. Strong projection and scent trails for at least the few few hours, and lasting at least 12 before dissipating. Versatility is what I would ultimately consider average. It's best suited for fall or winter evenings, but it has enough versatility to be worn formally or casually. Average is what I would grade mass-appeal at as well. Most people will think this fragrance smells nice, but licorice/anise is one of those notes that can be polarizing, so some people will not like it. In conclusion, I think Gold Knight is a very well blended fragrance that licorice lovers will really enjoy, but I can't enjoy it enough to consider spending that kind of money on a full bottle. Back to Black was more my speed, and with them being so similar I'll just stick to that. Scent: 9/10 Longevity: 9/10 Sillage: 10/10

Got a 7.5ML of this free with my other purchase. As with Most Kilian's, given the price and how sparingly i Use/Wear high end Niche fragrances. these 7.5ML travel sizes they offer are perfect. First things first - i LOVE select Honey based frags like Back-to-Black, Pure Havane, Naxos, Le Soir and London by TF... unfortunately I've found that they all Go extremely powdery on my skin. loose their beautiful notes and become utterly disappointing, the sad reality of skin Chemistry. these frags smelt amazing on my clothes. Enter: Gold Knight. at first sniff the gourmand honey scent was a little too sweet. but then it grew on me. it did go powdery on me but not all that intensely. It maintained that honey, patchouli, vanilla & Powdery scent. about 3-4 hours in: The Sweetness has died off a bit, more of a mature gourmand. still a Honey bomb but i'm getting these accords of a almost Oud/Elemi Resin. 2 sprays on the neck lasted 8+ Hours, First 4 hours with good performance. the first 2 where very strong. i was apparently filling the room with a pleasant smell. had allot of positive opinions from women. although some men & Women had some negativity towards the scent because its not very masculine. (EDIT: When I say "not very Masculine" i still find it very easy for a man to wear its just that theirs ALLOT of people who arent as open minded to perfumes and think men should smell like "men" or in other words - Aqua Di Gio or Sauvage) 7/10 - Wouldn't Consider it full bottle worthy but ill probably buy a replacement travel spray when i run dry, as this really is the only Honey Fragrance I've come across that doesn't disappoint me due to skin chemistry.

I definitely get a lot more than just honey in this one. There’s a very earthy, medicinal herbaceousness to it that I actually like quite a lot. The honey is certainly very prevalent, which is nice, since honey is one of my favorite notes, but the anise and patchouli come through as well. It kind of reminds me of a nice herbal liqueur. I find projection and longevity to be pretty good. I could still smell it on my wrist the next morning. The big problem with Gold Knight, however, is that it feels like you’re wearing half of Back to Black. Like someone was mixing up a batch of BtB, then stopped halfway through. I like Gold Knight for what it is, but it directly competes with another scent from the same house, and is clearly inferior. In my opinion, this one needs something to differentiate it from BtB. Something to shift it over into a different genre. Add some nice heavy boozy notes, some amber, some incense, something! Make it into more of an oriental, or add more fruit or florals, just do something so you don’t feel like you’re wearing a lesser version of BtB. For me, as-is, it’s a nice scent, but not worth buying a full bottle of. This is one of the rare times I hope that a reformulation happens, because the potential is there, but it just doesn’t quite hit the mark. 4/10 from me. The scent’d be a 7 or 8 for what it is, but the price and the fact that BtB exists really hurts it.

Gold Knight is a honeyed delight for those that treasure perfumes which are brutishly sweet yet unique at the same time. This is definitely a scent which may not be for everyone, but for sure will have you standing out from the crowd. Even now I’m not 100% sure I love it, but it keeps pulling me back in to explore it further. The most dominating note here is the aniseed - which is intensely dry and earthy, with its sharp and bitter facets highlighted beautifully by bergamot and patchouli. Sweet, sticky honey and creamy vanilla aim to balance this very well, but are unable to hide the liquorice-like accord of the aniseed. Because of this unusual note, I can imagine many people disliking this one. As I said I’m not sure if I love it, as I’m not sure if I would want to smell like aniseed all day. Despite that though, it’s a fantastic creation and something that I’ve really not smelled before.

'' By Kilian Gold Knight '' Anason notasını ilk kez Armani Black Code ile keşfetmiştim. Bu parfümde kullanılan anasonun paçuli ve bal ile birleştiğinde nasıl bir karaktere dönüşeceğini merak ederek denedim. Ancak parfümün belirgin bir hikâyesi yok gibi; oldukça düz ve sıradan bir çalışma hissi veriyor. By Kilian’dan beklenen kalite ve derinlik ne yazık ki pek algılanmıyor. Genel olarak minimal, fazla iddiası olmayan bir kompozisyon ortaya çıkmış. . . . I first discovered the anise note in Armani Black Code. I was curious to see how this anise note would transform when combined with patchouli and honey in this composition. However, the fragrance doesn’t seem to have much of a story behind it; it feels rather straightforward and ordinary. Unfortunately, the signature quality expected from By Kilian is hardly perceptible. Overall, it comes across as a very minimal and flat creation. 10/6.5

Actually so much better than excpected. Ofcourse the anise give a liquorice feel but it comes across quite powdery which makes me think of more vintage scents. There is something fresh and green here, and I have no idea what it is but I like it anyways. Ofcourse very prominent honey note and everything revolves around it. Honey is almost always a hit for me, but not something I need to own, I still am yet to find the perfect honey scent which makes me feel, I NEED to own this. This one could be a contender because it actually is not overly sweet, which as anyone who is acquainted to honey scents will know, they usually are. The quality and blending in Gold Knight is over Kilians usual standard :)

It's nice, but I see it on a man in a suit. It just is limited to a man of a certain age, and who wears a legit suit to work every day. It has a little Asian flair in it, IMO, which makes it more interesting than a suit. But these men, they're wise enough to know where to get the best scents, so it doesn't exactly belie a mystery to their essence, just a mystery to their fragrance... if any of this makes any sense. (No, I'm not high.) Basically, it is a fine scent, but that headshot of Pascal Gaurin, the nose on this one, his look is EXACTLY the customer, and the only customer type, I'd fancy this for.

Quite intrigued by Kilian's fragrances, I bought several decants, including Gold Knight. It is an interesting perfume : on the first try I was a bit put off by a smell that really reminded me of freshly cleaned furnitures (maybe the honey that makes me think of beewax I guess). I get the church-ish reference. The projection is not enormous, but the furniture / minister vibes last all day long as a skin scent. I don't know why but it sort of grew on me and I quite like now. Smell is, if not the same, at least from the same "family", as Back to Black also from Kilian. Can't smell anise (fortunately !).

The anise top note reminded me of Lubin's Black Jade. In fact, many of the sweeter notes remind me of it, but the patchouli gives it a powdery earthiness that I believe will make it wearable for men. Gladly, the powder note didn't go full Johnson & Johnson's, and like everyone says, it melts into a very, very pronounced honey note: Like, taking some of that German creamy honey and slathered yourself in it - that distinct and pure. If you love honey, this is a definite yes. If not, move along.

A pretty unique honey scent not like anything else I can think of the honey is sweet but light feeling it doesn’t take up too much and shares space with anise early on. The anise honey combo is a little weird and sharp but pretty good and memorable to me there’s also menthol in this somewhere that makes the whole scent have a cooling feel to it. Drydown is a more animalic honey and patchouli that leaves a little dirtiness behind, not my favorite but is a pretty different honey
