I Don't Need A Prince By My Side To Be A Princess - Rose de Mai

I was totally ignoring the existence of this gorgeous perfume until I noticed it on a website. My first encounter with "My Kind of Love" line was 2 years ago and left me unimpressed. However, I was totally wrong. This candied rose petal scent spiced up with ginger is the reason I cannot stop smelling my wrists right now. The amount of roses is rather delicate while the sweetness of fluffy marshmallows surrounds them with grace and suavity. Fairylike and utterly girly, this is the type of fragrance a young woman would wear after the first dates with her beloved one, on a romantic day out for rose petal lattes and raspberry macaroons at La Duree. Holding hands and laughing. Also, the powdery element makes it more loveable and dreamy (cannot detect matcha though). Love, love, love. One of my most successful blind buys. Ps: cannot compare to OG as I have not tried it on me.

I’ve never had the pleasure.. to even be near a *drop* of Princess Rose de Mai. But, if I go by everybody’s reviews, why not use my imagination and layer up until I finally can try the real thing? 🌹💧🌸 My immediate thought was to layer with the Chloe Eau de Parfum. I think it’s thee *perfect* scent.. to blend with Princess. Same “volume” if you will. Nobody is going to overpower the other. 💐💦 For a cheap experiment, I’d use the Rose lotion from Bath & Body Works, then spray Princess on top. Rose came in everything, even an actual Eau de Parfum (full-size and travel-size) so there’s that option as well. 🍵🌷🍋🟩🪴 My last thought for a rose that would blend effortlessly with Princess is Idole, especially the new Eau de Toilette with its green tea and rose essence notes. I can only imagine the delicacy! 🩰

Wonderful flanker. As said by the reviewers below, it is literally the original Princess with rose added. The rose is definitely the main character--- it's a very potent but also natural rose. It's not a dark rose, quite the contrary--- it smells fresh, fleshy, youthful, bright. The overall perfume remains a gourmand but the rose doesn't smell heavy or sugary sweet. It really helps further balance the sweetness of Princess (even though it's not an ultra sweet gourmand to begin with). Sillage is stronger than the original, it's not a low-key fragrance but it's not invasive either. Perfect for spring, beautiful during summer nights. It's smells so joyful and romantic. It's a shame that it was a limited edition but I agree with SailorV--- you could definitely achieve a similar feel with layering.

A really well made Princess flanker. The opening is gorgeous - sweet fresh delicate sugar sprinkled rose petals. For the first hour or so, the roses dominate. They are strong, yet still on the delicate, fresh, youthful side. There is just the right amount of powderiness. During this period you can still smell the original Princess DNA and although being toned down the whole scent is just very well balanced. Later the marshmallow sweetness with a tea/ginger twist becomes a bit more noticeable and more similar to the OG. I wish to see more Princess flankers and not limited only to Russian market as the 2021 Fleur d'Oranger was. I think the OG Princess has a lot of fans worldwide, that would be happy to have a chance to try them, too.

Princess Rose De Mai is such a pretty boy fragrance. The rose adds freshness and extra crispness to this very delicate scent. And it dries down to a sweet and fluffy, marshmallow goodness. I love the original Princess but for me this takes it to the next level. And every time I have this on, it gets me into such a great mood. For me it is a year round fragrance. Longevity is about 6 to 8 hours on my skin and it projects quite decently. It’s really hard to get a bottle of this scent as it was a limited edition and I’m quite thankful that I have it in my collection.

This version is a more romantic and spring-like interpretation of the original Princess. It smells like rose flavored marshmallows sprinkled with matcha. I can't detect any ginger though. Princess Rose de Mai is powdery, soft, a bit sweet and perfect for spring time. Longevity is good (around 8 hours) and the sillage sits rather close - you'll be able to smell and enjoy yourself but likely won't distract anyone around. I personally like this one so much that I have made it my 2020 spring signature.

This is a gorgeous, gorgeous scent! It smells like a cup of matcha latte with big, fluffy marshmallows on top and some candied rose petals. The rose in this instance gives that extra kick, that je ne sais quoi that the original princess lacks. I initially blind bought the smaller bottle because it’s impossible to find a sample, I fell in love so much that I ordered a back up and this time the bigger bottle, knowing that Kilian is discontinuing the My Kind Of Love collection.

Another love at first spray. It opens up with candied rose petals that macerated in a fruit punch concoction. The dry down is identical to the OG which smells like fluffy matcha marshmallows. It’s a slightly more mature version of the OG yet less powdery. I find the OG somewhat linear which is great for layering but something felt amiss. By adding the rose notes, this perfume feels complete. This needs to come back. I need more of it. This is back up bottle worthy.

I smell a fluffly rose marshmallow sparkled with matcha. Definetly better than the original Princess, it ́s more romantic for the delicious rose, making it more sexy also. The performance it's not the best compared to other Kilian ́s, but this helps me to build the perfume instead of trying to use it with precaution. Such a let down that this was limited, it makes me afraid to waste my bottle. Kilian should bring this baby back!

Very pleasant , fluffy , linear, sweet , vanillic rose with huge projection. I wear it when I want to feel pink and girly and get some compliments from women (i am teacher and i need some of those-no man ever compliment me with this) . I recently test the new la Nuit Trésor dentelle de rose and the dry down of that one is totally this one... I am very happy that I have it in my collection 😍

The rose here is beautiful and that's coming from someone who isn't a big rose lover. Princess dna is still strong but there is a sugared slightly powdered rose dancing around and it is blended beautifully. As if the rose has been lightly dusted with powdered sugar. So happy to have grabbed this one.

Oh good lord I’m a huge fan of the Kilian princess line, but this oneeee Turkish delight at its finest .

I'm a big fan of the original Princess and I love many rose scents, so I'm super happy I was able to sample this rare edition. This basically does what I expected, it smells like Princess with an added sweet, pink rose. So, the core of the perfume is a very fluffy vanilla marshmallow. It has some green tea and ginger notes that cut through the sweetness, but they're less prominent than they are in the original. On top if that lies the rose, which is susprisingly powdery and therefore makes the scent more perfumey and less edible smelling than it's predecessor, especially if you compare them side by side. I also get a light dusting of white musk, which adds to this effect. This is a beautiful scent and a pretty safe blind buy for those who love Princess and powdery roses, but I think a similar scent profile could be achieved by layering, and I honestly prefer the gourmand notes of the original.

finally got my hands on this beauty! I gotta say, this is one of the few perfumes in my collection where I smell each and every note. They blend so well together ! I own the regular princess and rose de mai and though these two are similar they are different. This has princess DNA all over it but has a stronger green note with the matcha. Perfect for spring!

My bottle finally finished after 5 years 😩 I am heartbroken and desperate to find another bottle. If anyone is selling a bottle, please please please 🙏🏾

I was given a substantial sample of this beautiful fragrance by an amazing person. I am obsessed with this fragrance 😭. So sad that it is no longer being made. And even harder to find on the aftermarket. If anyone is selling a decant of this let me know please lol. This reminds me of a Matcha latte with rose petals sprinkled in. Amazing 💕 100/10 please Kilian bring this back. Ginger opening is nice and zingy but more like a candied ginger to my nose. It fades as top notes do. I’ve been experimenting with different rose scents and layering with my classic princess to try and replicate the effect to not blow through my sample fast. Update: I finally have my Holy Grail in my collection. 💖💖💖 thanks to a good friend or two who helped me find this gem and get her safely home to me.

My first impression of this perfume - Rose petals in powdered sugar, such as candied rose petals & candied almonds. It smells like bouquets, candy's, cakes and dresses in marshmallows shades. The marshmallow note in the fragrance is not just present - she is reigns here, but it is very light and airy as zephyr should be. The combination of ginger & matcha tea does not allow the aroma to be just candied roses. Pampered, girlie, lovable perfume to airy gently dresses.

I second what the person below said. I buy a lot of extract sprays from Perfume Parlour and they're amazing, super strong even if the original isn't, and they have a HUGE selection of niche and designer scents but this ain't one. I doubt anyone will be making a straight up clone of a flanker that isn't as well known but I wish they did. If anyone knows a different perfume that smells very much like this then please say what it is.
