Imperial Tea (2024)

Bought this during the relaunch event. Tea fragrances are hard to love for me, especially those that are based on green tea. I find most of them to have an amazing opening followed by a quick deterioration into something faint and sour. Dior The Cachemire, and Kilians own Bamboo Harmony fall into that category. Vilhelms Dear Polly came very close to changing my opinion on tea, but unfortunately it's eureka moment comes way too late into the fragrance lifetime. I don't want to endure 3 hours of boringness for a pleasant dry down. Then came Imperial Tea and finally pushed me over the edge for green tea. This stuff is GORGEOUS. It is a profoundly soft fragrance, and not in a thin or absent way. The minimalist duo of tea and jasmine blend in a way that is petal soft yet rich and bold, but not cloying or heavy, not thin or sheer, just a perfect soft touch. Picture a constant tender caress: never overbearing but never absent either, just a permanent soft presence. That's the vibe I get from Imperial Tea. I don't know what kind of musk or ambroxan-adjecent molecule they've used in the base, but it acts as the perfect primer for the performance. It carries the scent of the tea and jasmine outwards while remaining undetectable itself to my nose. Adding a touch of Molecule 02 underneath works very well for this fragrance and gives it eternal longevity. Cannot recommend this fragrance enough. It will be a delight to wear this spring and summer.

I love Imperial Tea, it’s like a sister to Bamboo Harmony but with the most realistic jasmine tea that unfurls as it steeps and steams in zen-like purity. There’s a gentle aquatic note which helps with the realistic steam scent, combined with a grassy jasmine-floral sweetness, freshly cut grass, steamed greens and sweet seaweed. It’s fresh, warm and comforting. This is the perfect scent to cultivate mindfulness and inner peace. It just doesn’t last for longer than about 2 hours. It’s a real shame as I think this is what my spirit smells like. It’s nothing like Elizabeth Arden’s Green Tea if you’re trying to find a budget version, that stuff literally smells budget. It’s more like Eau De Magnolia by Frederic Malle in its delicate aquatic floral innocence. Although I have found a suitable budget replacement in JLo’s Still surprisingly. Update: I think this is an absolutely beautiful creation. I wore it to an evening meal out with friends and it was exquisite for the first hour then it left me. But I think it’s so beautiful but I can’t justify the price with it being amazing for only an hour. Please By Kilian can you make the extrait version of this. Update 2: I’ve managed to scratch my tea note itch with Still for a fraction of the price and it lasts.

Phenomenal. Best tea I’ve ever smelled. I’m really fussy about teas, I find a lot of them in fragrances are combined with bergamot (why??? They make the tea so astringent and sharp, and sometimes headache-inducing), but this one is so elegant, silky smooth and perfectly photorealistic. Nothing sharp or astringent at all. Just smooth, perfectly blended goodness. For those of you worried about (or hoping for) the seaweed, it doesn’t come through at all. This one smells like freshly and perfectly brewed pu’er, no milk, no astringency. Or if you’re a fan of Asian bubble tea - think the Chinese black tea they pour over ice before the milk is added. Phenomenal... best tea I’ve ever smelled. I’m torn between singing its praises everywhere, versus keeping it a secret so no one else around me has this. lol. Scent: gorgeously classy, realistic pu’er tea. Longevity: great for a tea! I get at least 6 hours and can usually faintly smell it at the end of my day Projection: average Polarity: unisex

I got a sample of this and it was love at first sniff. It smells like pure jasmine tea on me- I don't get any algae (thankfully) or other notes that detract from it's realistic beauty. As an aside, I was preparing to go on an extended trip and I didn't want to risk my bottle getting broken in my luggage so I ordered the roll-on dupe from oil perfumery, and I'm glad to say that it smells exactly the same as the original on me, with the added benefit of being much longer lasting than the original. In fact, a student I was traveling with told me that "you always smell so good, you definitely smell expensive." Now if your skin amps up the other notes in the original, I don't know if you'll get that here because all I get is photorealistic jasmine + green tea. This also layers really well with my decant of Santal 33 that I find too sharp to wear on its own.

This is an expensive tea store where they sell all kinds of tea by the weight. Hard to tell what’s more prominent : matcha , roasted green tea or black tea. Tea notes are so complex here , I even get sweetness and bitterness from them at the same time.There is something energetic in this fragrance; definitely a unique one. Longevity wise it is at least 6 hours, silage is strong (surprise for such a “light” notes). I would choose this over any other Killian perfume! 10/10.

My new favorite tea fragrance! Killian really knocked it out of the park with this one. I feel like this is what I wanted Guerlain Neroli Outrenoir to be. This is so elegant and well-rounded, a straight stunner! Don't allow the seaweed & laminaria notes scare you, it's pure magic and adds a uniqueness that you don't typically find from tea fragrances. I also get good longevity - around 7-8 hours!

It is right up my street! I was looking for a realistic jasmine tea like scent and it is exactly smells like jasmine tea! very elegant. The bottle design and composition are what you pay for. All the notes above are there and works perfectly together. Silage is not too strong, longevity is good. do not expect room filling kind of scent, it is closer to skin but still there...

High quality tea leaves in a bottle. Floral, elegant and composed. This fragrance is one of, if not the most uplifting and inoffensive one in my collection. It won't make you magnetize people, it will make people comfortable and calm around you. A truly sophisticated type of scent that you can enjoy daily. Rating: 9.5/10

Perfect photorealistic jasmine green tea. I haven't sprayed too much of it (it's expensive), but the sillage doesn't seem to extend very far. I didn't think it would to be fair. This is exactly what I was looking for and I'm very happy with it, though I do wish it were cheaper so I could justify a full bottle.

Hyper realistic iced tea scent. It smells like I opened a jar of iced tea that was sitting in the sun. I really like it especially since most ice tea scents doesn’t smell like iced tea very much. Kilian has done it again.

@Ethkco is right. Smells like Chagee or Molly Tea store lol. Chagee was accused of adding fragrance in their teas..smelling this it really makes me wonder....

Very realistic scent of dried imperial jasmine dragon pearl tea. Tea drinkers likely to love this! I do.

Love it, but the performance is too weak

At initial spray, this leans more male, then it dries down unisex. The opening seemed a bit barber shop and sweet. Slightly a fougere. Sweeter than I prefer. The bergamot is prominent, as well as tea (I read more black than green tea) and mate notes. It gave me 30% resemblance to Matcha Meditation when I first sprayed, though I like MM better as MM doesn’t come off masculine. I don’t get seaweed. Some say that green tea can impart such notes when drinking the tea—I never experienced that though I regularly drink it (from Japan, China, Korea, including from regions well known for their green teas). I like the drydown of this perfume better, and this phase is quite nice. It slightly reminds me of One Day Jasmine Tea, but not quite as Imperial Tea has citrus. The drydown is like a combination of One Day Jasmine Tea and Fragonard Jasmin Perle de The. But IT is more masculine than the other two. In terms of Kilian’s tea fragrances, I love Princess as it’s very feminine, fluffy pretty. Imperial Tea is still well made. Update 09/22/2025. I layered it with One Day Jasmine Tea. The combo is a pretty good balance of jasmine tea the beverage and perfume. Very very nice.

as an Asian and avid tea drinker i find this tea scent hyper realistic. the opening is dried ,crushed green tea leaves that reminded me inside a luxury tea house...the drydown is an earthy, powdery,nutty dried green tea leaves dust/residue , almost like a matcha powder smell...what a natural dried tea smell with no vanilla and fruit notes that makes the scent smell anything except tea ..very high quality ingredients , the proyection doesnt make me sick at all this is a type of scent for the office, that you have to bring the bottle to work for reapplication because the perfomance is weak, almost like 3-4 hours skin scent and 1hr of proyection....

This gave me a lovely really jasmine scent, but I had to apply considerably more perfume than I usually do. Dry down only took about 30 minutes, and 12 hours later I could still smell it. However, I could only ever smell it when my wrist was physically pressed against my nose. Not what I want in a scent, but it was lovely.

It's not my perfect tea fragrance, but I like it. I'm actually upset that after an hour it becomes pretty boring as it disappears quickly. Still, very calming. Lately I have been feeling really nervous, and this one helps me more than any real green tea. So yeah, it's a personal one.

Don’t get me wrong this is a lovely fragrance there is that beautiful note of tea that dominates the whole fragrance, tones down to a lovely neroli. My whole problem with this fragrance is the price and the performances. It doesn’t last and it doesn’t project at all... you can get plenty of similar fragrances with a quarter of the price. To me it just doesn’t works out. If you want something similar that cost way less and projects much more get blue matcha by Montale

Realistic jasmine green tea scent. Subtle and understated. Performance is a crime especially for the price as it lasts only an hour on my skin. Mith Another Tea is an incredible dupe of this fragrance that is a quarter of the price, lasts much longer, and although Another Tea smells a bit more synthetic, it's closer to what you would smell upon walking into Molly Tea.

If you like Tea Perfumes, then save your money, and buy “Gucci A Floral Verse” instead. This perfume suffers from performance/longevity issues.

Smells like stale water with rotting plant stems in the vase. I felt so gross when I sprayed myself with it.... 🤢. It turned a little bit better later, a little bit more flowery, but I don't want to put this on myself ever again.

It's different from the great first one. It's deteriorated like "Woman in Gold". It's lost its depth and staying power. This is not Kilian, it's just Estee Lauder Eau de Toilette.ತ⁠_⁠ʖ⁠ತ

What I love about this fragrance is the realistic jasmine tea note. It truly captures the beauty of opening a tea tin filled with jasmine tea leaves that delicate, uplifting aroma rising softly. A fragrance that feels both natural and comforting.

I am usually not the one complaining about performance, as you can always reapply or just spray more if you actually like this scent. On top of that, this is one of my favorite tea scent. However, it is possibly one of the worst performers that I own. Longevity is somewhat bearable, around 4-5, never really 6 for me, but still, I can reapply. But the projection is really unacceptably horrible, it projects for like 5 minutes and sit VERY VERY close to the skin. I have a habit of asking my mother about my fragrance every time I see her, I just lean in and usually she smells everything just fine even after hours of spraying it. But this thing? I had 6 sprays on, and after only 20mins, I asked my mother about my scent, she told me that she couldn't smell anything, she tried a few more times and ended up having her nose right at my skin to smell it, even at that distant, she described it as "a faint scent". I really cannot accept a fragrance, especially a niche one that cost this much money, to not project AT ALL. I cannot be expected to reapply this thing every 5 minutes right? So really, I recommend to try out the scent as it is one of the best tea scents I've ever tried, but I DO NOT recommend owning a bottle because you will never really use it unless you spray it expecting no one to smell it at all(not even yourself after the first 10 minutes tbh).

Imperial tea smells like rich, naturally sweet and earthy black tea leaves, high quality green tea and jasmine. The perfume smells like very rich tea leaves, a high quality tea. It doesn't smell exactly like brewed black tea, but it gravitates towards that direction. It doesn't smell sweet or gourmand, but you can sense the natural, earthy, sweetness of black tea. It also smells a bit dry and papery, in a good and interesting way. So far, this is the most delicious, richest, earthiest black tea fragrance that I have found. My favorite tea perfume. It makes me crave a good, hot cup of tea. For a tea scent, it has good intensity and longevity. The perfume lasted 5 days on my blotter.

first impression: beautiful photorealistic tea fragrance. so calming and uplifting. I am an avid tea drinker and this transports me to the moment I open up my tin of jasmine tea leaves. would love to add this to my collection. it reminds me a little of Chasing Scents tea service and matcha meditation although not as sweet and the jasmine isn't as sharp and prominent as it is in MM.

Really nice. Comforting. Realistic black tea with jasmine. Fresh, but earthy. White florals don’t poke out too much. Doesn’t smell designer or generic. Very easy to wear this. Tea fragrances aren’t my typical FB focus, but this would be an easy grab.

Very elegant tea scent. It reminds me of LV Imagination with added notes of Jasmine... Very smooth and likable scent.
