L'Heure Verte

L'Heure Verte by Kilian is truly a remarkable fragrance, though it may not be everyone's glass of beer. This scent offers a unique and acquired aroma, centered around anise, which can be quite unconventional for those unaccustomed to it. Personally, I found this scent to be an acquired taste that grew on me immensely over time. Initially, I was curious by its connection to Lolita Lempicka (the older version) and Au Masculin Intense (now discontinued), both created by Annick Menardo. However, the inflated prices of those fragrances led me to explore alternatives. When I stumbled upon L'Heure Verte on sale, I saw it as an opportunity to experience a scent reminiscent of Lempicka or Au Masculin intense, and I made the purchase. Upon receiving L'Heure Verte, my initial disappointment was visible or I guess from my nose. It struck me as a concoction of herbal notes that didn't resonate with my previous experiences of tobacco-based fragrances. The dominant anise note felt unfamiliar and, at first, off putting. I stashed it away, not thinking much of it. It wasn't until I was casually enjoying a drink, getting drunk, and randomly decided to revisit L'Heure Verte that something clicked. In that moment, the fragrance came alive in a way I hadn't anticipated. The anise note, which had previously deterred me, now had a magnetic allure. There was something more to it a subtle undercurrent that reminded me of a well mixed cocktail, perhaps with hints of Sprite, vodka, or a touch of boozy sophistication. Today, L'Heure Verte holds a special place in my collection and has grown on me to the point where I use it daily. Its scent is nothing short of intoxicating and possesses the ability to draw you in, much like a captivating story. While I can't say if this boozy centered profile is a signature Kilian scent, I can attest that L'Heure Verte is a beautiful creation in its own right. However, I would caution against blind buying this fragrance, as it may not immediately appeal to everyone. Like my experience, it might require time to truly appreciate its uniqueness. But for those who give it the chance to evolve on their skin, they may discover a hidden gem that defies initial expectations and offers a distinctive smell.

L'Heure Verte is to lounge on a green velvet sofa in the corner of a tucked away speakeasy. A bar with no name and no sign. It feels special and very much evokes something of almost a clandestine nature. If you know, you know. This is to date the richest, most indulgent and intoxicating licorice and absinth dominant fragrance out there that I have found. I would also describe it as a true unisex that treats the composition in a manner that is true to the concept that has inspired it. So it lacks the same dryness and distinctly masculine-leaning character that both describe so many other absinth-forward fragrances. It not only engages my sense of smell, but also taste. Although it may as well be the mind playing tricks, but it conjures something on the palate. It would be something in between a herbal hard candy and rich toffee. This does absinth different than what I've experienced in other fragrances where it mostly comes across cold, austere and thin. The absinth here is condensed, syrupy and decadent. It is somehow both cool and warm. There's a fresh herbal edge to it that remains even as it reaches the drydown. But I find that I adore its lack of significant development. I get to keep what I smell, what I fell in love with. It stays on my skin the way I smell it from the bottle. Fresh, rich and decadent. I adore this to no end. It's beautiful and has that something that makes it feel timeless. But I think it's something that is very much meant to find its own target audience, rather than having been created for one. It performs quite well and is a definite standout among everything it's being compared to. The closest semblance to my nose is L'Artisan Parfumeur's Fou d'Absinthe, but the latter has the longevity of an EdT in my experience. We can definitely argue over whether the price point is justified for the quantity, but as nothing else does what L'Heure Verte does, I guess L'Heure Verte it is. Update: I believed it to be discontinued and replaced by Fievre Verte a while ago, but I was just now able to buy a refill through a pefumery so this whole situation is still somewhat puzzling. Although I am absolutely elated to have a backup.

#67 of My Fragrance Journey - By Kilian L'Heure Verte: A Glass of Liquid Emerald I’m staring at this bottle - this idea of liquid emerald (even though, no, the juice isn’t actually green) - and I’m asking myself... am I ready for this, really? First spray and - wow. It’s a lot. Green, bitter, aromatic. Absinthe and liquorice coming at me all at once, no warm-up, no small talk. Sharp. Almost defiant. It feels like a Parisian night I never lived but somehow remember vividly. A little unhinged. Very intellectual. I suddenly feel underdressed and vaguely unqualified, like I should be in a dim gallery pretending I know what I’m talking about. I wait because you have to. And then... it turns. About 15 minutes in, the edges blur. Violet slips in - cool, powdery, kind of shy - and starts circling the liquorice instead of fighting it. Everything gets darker, earthier. There is sweetness, but not candy sweet. Root sweet. Soil and shadow sweet. It’s melancholic. A bit strange. Honestly? A little queer in how it refuses to behave. Not fresh. Not woody. Both. Neither. Existing in between, on purpose. An hour later, it’s skin-close and magnetic. Woody notes with sandalwood, vetiver, a trace of patchouli - dry, elegant, confident without raising its voice. I keep smelling my wrist without thinking. It stays too. Eight... maybe ten hours. Kilian isn’t cheap, obviously, but for this kind of drama, this kind of theatre... I get it. This isn’t for everyone. If liquorice scares you, or you want something polite for errands - no. This is for nights when you want to feel layered. Complicated. Slightly unknowable, even to yourself. Green magic. And yeah - I think it got me. Gorgeous, gorgeous perfume, *chef's kiss chef's kiss chef's kiss* Very good sillage and quite potent, particularly on the anise front. I would say lasting-power is about 4-5 hours on me. I wish this could have been better, but alas. Initally, I picked this one up primarily for it's Absinthe note, and I'm very pleased to inform you that it indeed smells of a true Absinthe. From what I've read from others - the anise, violet and liquorice root mellows down and settles into a smooth, cool and woodsy scent after a few hours. This doesn't seem to be the case for me. I get to keep the notes - as they are on first spray - throughout my wear. Albeit a bit warmer. I presume it depends on your skin chemistry. Overall, this is a wonderful scent for those who love fresh, cool and unisex fragrances. The bottle is lovely to look at too, though the cap could have been made of glass rather than plastic.

Lovely aniseed scent that definitely reminds me of Raki/Ouzo/Sambuca/Absinthe - take your pick of drink of choice. Has a really delicious, moreish scent, as long as you like anise/aniseed that is. Dries down really warm and woody. Definitely one of my favourites from Killian. I own 6 full bottles now (this, Black Phantom, Apple Brandy, Roses On Ice, Blue Moon and the ubiquitous Angel's Share) and sampled most of the others. One caveat I would add. Don't spray it anywhere near white. I put some on my chest then put on a white polo afterwards and it left slight green telltale signs of what I'd been wearing. It came out, but I think if you sprayed it directly onto a white garment it might stain permanently - but then, so do a lot of EDP and higher level concentration frags anyway, just it's usually more of a brown stain, not Slimer green.

I have to admit, this is not my type of scent. I cant imagine that i coud wear it yet... but i start to feel it closer to myself. But ! This scent is truly unique and a beautiful piece of art! An Emerald green 'phosphore-scent'. The absinth & licorice together is much more then "medicinal" it's a whimiscally & mysterious luminous magical potion! which is irradiate trough the depth of that dark& deep balsamic woody base. Totally bewitching! "Artistry in mystic beauty." It's like alchemy, like a flash of black cat's green eye at the night. The perfect enigmatic & vibrating night scent. I think it has a need for a special personality to wear. I can imagine this on a black haired bright green eyed women who is wrapped in mystery. I'lll buy just a 1 ml sample, just to smell it sometimes. it's beautiful.

L'Heure Verte gives the "booze in a crystal glass" collection its due, as it is a bona fide Rakı or Ouzo scent - closer to the latter, as it has this sweet licorice kick to it. I've always chased after a good anise-bomb and tried my hand at Lolita Lempicka Au Masculin (which is a fantastic scent imho, but it has many other notes that add up to a rather tame play-doh smell) & L'Artisan Parfumeur Fou D'Absinthe (which has this generic artificial pine note in it -think air fresheners- that puts me off). This one on the other hand, packs a punch when it comes to anise & simmers down to a resionous, heady, boozy skin scent. Lovely stuff.

Love, love, LOVE this! Finally picked this one up after contemplating buying it for quite a few months. Skipped out on it last week, but I regretted it the whole week. I made the decision to go out and bring this gem home. L’Heure Verte is everything you want in a unique and bold fragrance. It’s original, daring, and truly depicts the theme of the brand so well. This one opens up with absinthe, liquorice, patchouli, and woods. A little bit of sweetness, and a lot of green herby, woody goodness! I love the originality of this fragrance, and how it smells like nothing I’ve ever smelt before. Another great release Kilian! 10/10

Lovely--a sort of streamlined, linear, wormwood-ey, anisic riff on Heritage. They are not total smell alikes, but they both beautify patchouli with vanilla and aromatics in a somewhat similar fashion. The Kilian is less "hefty Guerlain" and is stocked with more transparent amber and cedar aromachems. Longevity is my only issue with L'Heure Verte. I'd think something with these heavy hitting notes would be a bit more lasting. I see it's not an issue others face with it, though, so it might be my skin eating it up!

Tried this a couple of days ago and it has definitely stuck in my mind. It basically smells like absinthe and liquorice. Might get it! The absinthe is very realistic and adds a nose piercing freshness to it, which I loved when I tried it. I've never smelled any fragrance like this, it's quite unique in today's market where every freshie pretty much smells the same. If you love Kilian and the way his fragrances use gourmand and alcoholic beverage notes then you must give this a try. 9/10

This scent is honestly addictive. I keep smelling myself so good. It’s one of those scents that keeps pulling you back in you just want to keep smelling it. It’s very unique kind of herbal and slightly sweet, almost like a soft liquor vibe, but the wood is what stands out the most. It smells elegant and put together, not loud at all. Definitely not for everyone, but if you like clean, woody, slightly sweet scents, this is so good. It just smells balanced and different in the best way

Love this! I've been considering trying an absinthe scent (out of my comfort zone), and the Fragrantica review made me decide this was the one. That review describes the scent so much better than I ever could, so I'll refer you to it for details. Great reminder to try scents out of my comfort zone. Not an everyday or work scent, but relaxing at home this will be a delightful change from my usual scents. Yeah, I'm getting a full bottle...

This is not discontinued per say, they just changed the name to Fiévre Verte, possibly for legal, copyright reasons. A beautiful licorice woody fragrance similar to Montale's Aoud Greedy, but much more refined, and Lolita Lempicka's popular licorice/anise scents. Received compliments as soon as I put this on, definitely a crowd favorite as many do tend to like that note. For those who don't, yes, this would not be for you.

licorice. intriguing green, sharp scent that i didn’t know how to identify, absinthe i learned, that made me spray this on my skin. that continued and a strong, realistic licorice came through and stayed after 30 minutes. low projection/sillage so the smell didn’t bother me, but it def wasn’t for me. really interesting though and happy i let the smell develop bc the mid/drydown are different from the top notes.

One of the most beautiful scents. Finally Kilian is releasing new DNAs again. Angels Share - b540 clone trash AB OTR - Recycled VOTR Roses on Ice - WTF WAS THIS? L'heure Verte omg this is good. Absolute new direction for the brand. It feels like this and ABOTR were an A/B test for Kilian! This is it! Very niche smell, very complex. Scent changes 2-3 times on skin and lasts. Love it!

Got this as a gift, but i'm aware of the price-quality ratio of this blend and its collection. On my skin, it smells unmistakeably resinous. It's probably the only fougere i can stand wearing, but thats doing it an injustice. I love this blend, it's an interesting boozy-sweet sort of front backed up by a really smooth patchouli vetiver combo. It's a really good dumb reach for me.

This evening I sprayed some of this just to relive the experience; this is beautiful stuff! It’s licorice and woods with a tinge of sweetness. I can see below the hate this one receives, but I am the complete opposite on this one. It’s probably one of the best Kilian has put out yet. Looking forward to see if he’ll continue the Liquors’ line next year with something else!

This one is definitely in the same category as mugler aura. Initial spray is very similar to angel share, after 5 mins or so. The true character come out. It is smoother and more refined than aura. Both are comforting for me, when I feel stressed or sick. This is not a scent for everyone, it’s very unique. If you have the character for it, it’s beautiful.

A start to finish love. and refreshingly not the creamy resinous stuff I'm used to. - 24 hours in and this stuff is marvelous from start to finish without a doubt. It smells like you just landed someplace cold and you're just about to leave the plane - 3 God damn days on the card this smell and it's still strong and elegant. Pure LOVE .

What can I say? Generally, idc for Kilian, with this one being an exception. It's all the things that I love and makes it different from the rest of the fruitchouly/whiteflowers, gaggingly sweet bunch. It's green, bitter, spirited, truly unisex. I'm actually glad that AS is more popular and talked about. Please, don't buy this!

Stunning green scent that definitely smells like absinthe with a touch of lemon (or some other citrus) and lovely sweetness in the base. Nice and refreshing! I adore this scent. Absinthe, Liquorice, Aniseed, but neither sweet nor sour. Perfectly balanced, and mature. It is not a big projector for me, but I don't care. This is a classy fragrance even though it does not last long on my skin. It is exquisitely crafted and deserves a lot of praise.

This really does smell like absinthe and sambuca with strong anise and licorice that lasts from open to dry down. If you like those notes you will like this. There is a bit of woods to make this more than just absinthe and it is definitely wearable for me.

I love it, it's licorice-absinthe liquor-ish boozy, green, cold and wild, pretty unique (it has a hint that might reminds you to lolita lempika) smells elegant, unisex and sexy, my favourite off the line. Not a crowd pleaser for sure, but stands by itself

This one is my favourite out of all the liquor collection of kilian. It's liquorice that brings a sting to the nose but not in your face. It's very unique but i dislike how it's expensive and there not a lot of amount.

Absolutely incredible! I had no idea what to expect but when I smell this I was blown away by the scent. The dry down is gorgeous, sexy and intoxicating.

I've sampled a ton of Kilian scents but this is the first from the Liquors collection and the only one that stopped me in my tracks and had me coming back for more. The licorice/anise note, which I guess is how Absinthe smells - is just phenomenally hyper-realistic in this scent, and the dry down is ridiculously sweet, powdery, and delicious. After 12-hours though, meaning this is still going at 6 pm after spraying somewhat heavily at 6 am that day, it turns spicy sweet in an older gentlemanly way (and I can't stand using age-based terms to describe fragrances but I am using it here today because it best describes the vibe here). As much as I want to continue to embrace this and I'm also admittedly looking for a reason to purchase this because I am obsessed with the crystal bottle--the old spice dry down is what prevents me from fully getting on board with this as part of my own collection. However I absolutely would not hesitate to buy it for someone as a gift, I would love smelling it on a significant other. I would say 8/10, and 10/10 to anyone who loves licorice/anise. I'm currently trying to figure out who would like this so I can buy it for them and smell it on them, I love it that much!

Acılık hissini bitter bir malzeme ile üçgeni tamamlamış. Anka kuş markası ise bunu daha uzun bitişli ve daha yumuşak bir şekilde temin etmiş. Gelelim asıl konuya... Bu notaların içinde belli belirsiz duran menekşe yapraklı By Kilian ı özel kılıyor. Çok güzel ve özel bir çalışma var olmuş. Orta silaj ve 6 7 saatlik tenimde duruşuna göre gayet ideal bir koku profili önümüzde duruyor. İçerisinde Bitter acılığının yerine Kırmızı Kapya Biberi ile bütünleştirmek isterdim. Bitterliğini daha da uzun tutmak isterdim. 10/7.6

Bought it a couple months back, second review. Ive found myself reaching for this during cold and hot days, pretty versatile if youre into sweeter stuff. Sweet but nothing too much. Its fresh at the beginning and then it becomes warmer with the sandalwood. Its mainly licorice with the other stuff. You get more from this if you spray on skin and not on clothes scent wise as the sandalwood is more noticeable and makes the perfume better, instead of just the braindead licorice you get on clothes. I can see this as a daily scent. And its pretty mass appealing. I cant see it on the bykillian internet page so it might be discontinued idk. Longevity is okay around 6h nothing beastly. Same with the projection its good for the first 3h then it tones down to a skin scent. If on clothes though ull noticed it for the whole day. Good on most occasions and most weathers except super hot days. I can see why they discontinued it but i wouldnt label it as bad by any means, just not worth a 200+ price tag.

Very happy with this one! My wife got me L'Heure Verte and Roses on Ice for Valentine's Day. I was on the fence for both of them before but they're my new favorites! L'Heure Verte smells exactly like the Black Jellybelly jelly bean tastes, so if you're not a fan of Black Licorice you won't like this one at all. It smells just like Absinthe (the Black Licorice scent), and that sticks around from the beginning to the very end. It's a very well done recreation of it.. it doesn't come off smelling like an air freshener or "cheap" at all. I don't smell too much of the other scents (which is fine for me) and the fragrance seems to last forever. It doesn't come off too strong, but you definitely notice it throughout the day. The bottle matches the others in the Kilian "Liquors Collection", but this one actually changes colors from the light golden color to a greenish tint when it's in the sun.

I really expected this to lean more masculine, I'm really happy it does not because it is gorgeous to wear! Straight up, I can happily report that I GENUINELY get all of the notes stated, because I sniffed first THEN checked the pyramid. What I did do.. and from comments from others, this may make a difference.. is I went very light handed with the application. (One body spritz, one wrist spray pressed together). The resulting scent is an aniseed to liquorice, woody ethereal dream of a skin scent on me! I see lots of 'meh!', but I really do recommend trying this lightly in cold weather, it is just amazing!

I am so sad. The opening absinthe notes were beautiful and made me even more excited about trying this, and the mid notes were ok. Less exciting but not bad. But then the end was all patchouli, which tends to smell sour on me sometimes - and unfortunately this was one of those times, plus a dill-leaning sandalwood. I wanted to cry at how the lovely interesting absinthe had devolved into a sour dill screecher. I think I need to stop trying this brand. I am 0/4 in finding one I can even tolerate on my skin. I am jealous of those of you who can wear this beautifully!

This is quite creative and unlike anything I've ever smelt thus far. It opens up with a prominent liquorice/star anise and tarragon - basically the herbal component of the absinthe -note, that projects. However, the opening doesn't last all too long. Throughout its life you can get a whiff of the liquorice, but as soon as it nears to the dry down, it gets all too similar with Straight to Heaven. A woody patchouli with a tiny hint of liquorice. I don't know if i would buy it, but I certainly wouldn't mind having it gifted to me!

I'm not a huge licorice/anise fan and still did not find it too much for me. I really like it! This is very niche scent. It's earthy, so naturally it's not as crowd pleasing as a gourmand fragrance. The herbal opening is very brief and then the drydown is pure woods. Honestly, the drydown reminds me of the amber woods in Ambre Royal from Ormande Jayne or Alien. My only disappointment is that I don't find it boozy in the slightest. Longevity is fantastic, projection is closer to the skin.

Unlike any perfume I've personally smelled before, but a familiar scent all the same. This is literally as @Boudoir describes Absinthe -- a gourmet licorice. It is a softer scent, very much anise/licorice forward, that manages to be dry, herbal, and mildly sweet. Though I would say there is a slight syrupy quality to this as well. This is the black jelly belly that no one wants, but I happen to love, in a fragrance. And therefore, I like this lol :) Definitely worth a sniff.

I got this because i was amazed by the opening. The drydown is good as well just not really 220eur good. Its licorice done perfectly, minty and fresh with a hint of sweetness. Perfect for most casual occasions. But it is NOT a 200+ eur scent. I like it and it is mass appealing but i would not suggest it for the price. Maybe if it was 140, then it would be good. I guess since it it refilable then it does get to that price point afterwards but i dont think that counts.

I like this one a good bit, so of course it's been discontinued. LOL! I'll try to grab a bottle before they're gone. The opening is a bit bracing / astringent, but after about 15 minutes this settles into something really nice. It doesn't really overlap with anything else that I have in my humble collection. I guess I'll have to start looking for something similar that gives these notes, since this will become unobtanium soon.

Ahh smells good! Would consider a full bottle. Absinthe, licorice, and woody notes shine through in this on my skin. If you're a fan of the Nest Indigo perfume you may like this, it feels like it could be a cousin to that somehow, but this definitely isn't as heavy/cloying as Indigo can be sometimes. Sillage is good, I only dabbed a little on my wrist and can smell it even when my arms are at my side.

First review from this brand and thankfully it’s a positive one The absinthe in the opening was incredible Patchouli dominated in this one with the help of some woodsy notes It lasted between 6-7 hours Projection was moderate I must admit it is a unique scent But I can’t see myself paying the price for a 50ml retail since it’s very hard to find it in discounters Verdict Good scent but overpriced

From the opening it smells exactly what I’m looking for, strong absinthe and licorice. But the licorice note doesn’t last at all on my skin and it falls apart to a musky absinthe smell. Not my favourite and I expected a little more

I was hoping for a liquorice-forward fragrance but sadly, I can’t detect anything anise related. Having said that, it is pleasant in a soft, woody, masculine-leaning way. Nothing like the other loud, sweet Kilians, IMHO.

THIS. SMELLS. LIKE. MONEY. But like new money. Got it out the mud money. Started from the bottom now we here money. Odell Beckham moonwalking in the end zone guaranteed money... this is opulence in a bottle.

Interesting opening and the licorice which seems to go on and on is the highlight of this beauty. Unfortunately the silage only lasted about eight hours.
