Old Fashioned

This one is really good. Edit: This definitely doesn’t smell like Angel Share. That’s a very lazy description. Is it redundant? Angel share smells like an apple pie/pastry. This doesn’t. This is way more photorealistic boozy. They wouldn’t be redundant due to the scent being the same. The redundancy would be from them being used in similar situations. This one is a rollercoaster Upon first two sprays, I was like it’s good, but meh. I definitely got a sawdust and slightly sweet fruity vibe. Reminded me of Apple Brandy with like a sawdust aspect lol. Re-applied hours later. There is definitely a whiskey accord, slightly sweet orange, and that sawdust vibe is still there (guessing that’s the wheat). The name suits it well. I am starting to like it more and more as time goes on. When it dries down it starts to smooth out. In a good way. At this point it’s starting to get addictive lol. I give myself another couple sprays and that sawdust type smell is starting to turn kind of Smokey. I think that’s the tobacco people are saying they smell. At this point it’s starting to smell like a Smokey caramel. This is some good stuff. If you sample it give it a chance. Don’t write it off too quickly. After the first couple hours I started to really really enjoy this. Might not be the same for everyone but it’s been quite the rollercoaster for me and I love it. Longevity TBD. I feel like it’s not projecting for more than a few hours but I could easily be going anosmic. (It happens)

Old Fashioned is a masterpiece. It’s so multifaceted you wouldn’t even believe it. Don’t let the notes fool you. At first you get hit with the most realistic single malt accord, the next second you can actually smell wheat. Yes, wheat. (Kilian nailed that note too, Sidonie is a great perfumer, there’s zero doubt about it) Then of course the cedarwood, giving the fragrance an aged oak barrel kind of smell. Beautiful. The dry down is magical. I’m actually getting plum from this (it could be the davana giving this fruity aspect to the fragrance). Then, the immortelle absolute gives this fragrance a yummy, almost honey-like sweetness which is simply delicious and addictive. The styrax and tolu balsam at the base smell like holy raisins slash dried fruits falling from the hand of an angel... giving this divine concoction great longevity and a unique and addictive quality. It is not a projecting powerhouse, actually it sits pretty close to the skin but you still get a nice little bubble around you. It’s more like a aura around the wearer, if that makes sense. I’ve noticed it draws people in... People want to get closer and closer to you to be left intoxicated by your scent. It’s a compliment getter, if you’re into that. A timeless classic and a great addition to The Liquors line. Brilliant.

I get my engraved bottle in a few days. Now... Idk WTF people are talking about. This is not Single Malt, there is no sweet fruit vibe in this. This is Single Malt's toxic masculinity older brother. Also where the booze wore off quick, replaced by vanilla, sugar, and that powder in SM, in this the boozy vibe sticks around. I love it, and as has been stated, I don't get much sweetness at all, in fact i get dry with some bitterness. Starts off strong oak barrel whiskey, has a bit of a smokeyness to it. Then you start getting a bit of a dark chocolate vibe in the mid, gets much smoother from the tobacco and still retains that boozy vibe. Overall, I really enjoyed it. My girl likes it, but is still on the fence overall. Had a 2ml decant and put a few sprays on at Saks 5th Ave before buying to make sure my decant was legit. We went for drinks right after, and she made me laugh, but she's right. She sniffed me, then my glass (old fashioned or neat are my drinks of choice), and said: "this doesn't really smell like that." Because truthfully it lacks something. Smells great, and i do love it, but constructive criticism here... Needed some dark bourbon cherry, or orange to give a faint touch fruity sweetness, which would also stay true to the drink. I don't get anything like that

This smells almost identical to Single Malt with the plum toned down in the opening and the davana wheat and vanilla turned up. How can you sit here and say it’s not the same when you don’t even own a bottle? Oh I wore one spray 8 days ago from the Kilian store. Just sit down and be quiet. No one wants to hear it. I have 200ml of Single Malt refills, a full bottle of the original Single Malt and a 100ml of Old Fashioned and a 100ml refill right in front of me. I have compared them side by side multiple times. I have sprayed this stuff to death and worn the crap out of both in the past month. If you haven’t smelled it then don’t even leave a review, shut up. All you’re doing is mudding the waters. How do you have a clue when you haven’t spent any time with the fragrance?! Yes it’s lacking the amazing plum in the opening. Get over it! This is still amazing! I compared the ingredients from both and the only difference is SM has Eugenol and OF does not. To my nose its almost identical minus the opening. The plum does not stick around very long in the OG so its not a huge let down anyways. I love this stuff and will continue to show nothing but love for Kilian and my all time favorite perfumer Sidonie. If you are a big fan of SM or boozy fragrances then this is a must have!

This smelt very much like a nice scotch Whiskey that was poured onto my skin for the first 10 minutes very photorealistic, but as someone who enjoys the smell of whisky I liked it, after the opening it becomes a much woodier-,mildly spiced Whiskey fragrance that loses much of it's boozy nature, the longer into the dry down it goes, the more balsamic it starts to smell too but in a good way, at times to my nose it smells more like whisky mainly, and at others the whisky smells more like actual wheat, but it interchanges, I definitely like it more than I thought I would, and definitely one of my favourites from Kilian Paris, and as for the apple brandy on the rocks comparisons, I can see vaguely where they come from, but to me they're both different scents that albeit may evoke similar feelings during the wearing and in the dry down, they're ultimately different scents to my nose atleast, with this being more boozy and laid back, and 'ABOTR' being a lot fresher and smooth. This is good for all seasons except summer and hot days in general, and can be dressed both up and down, but definitely leans to more formal occasions on my opinion, solid release from Kilian. Final Verdict is a 8.8/10

I just received this today; I got the travel size to start! This is what I have wanted for so long from Kilian! It checks off so many boxes for me. Let me explain. For starters; Angels’ Share is iconic, but to me I find it a tad too sweet. Old Fashioned is a lot drier, with a touch of sweetness, but not sugary sweet, like an ambery sweet. Initial spray from Old Fashioned you get this amazing wheat note that truly delivers! It does smell like aged whiskey! Does this smell similar to Single Malt? Yes, In respect that they are cut from the same cloth, but different in their own way. Old Fashioned also reminds me of a long departed fragrance I wish I kept; Tobacco Oud - by Tom Ford. That whiskey smell you get from this fragrance is pretty bang on to Tobacco Oud, and it fills that void for me. This is a classy, very elegant fragrance. The Scottish manor; the whole backstory Kilian gave to this scent, it all adds up. Old Fashioned has become my new favourite Kilian! I will be purchasing probably the 100ml of this, to me this is a masterpiece. My favourite release of the year, it is perfection in a rocks glass! 15/10 - It’s that good! Well done Kilian!

French Avenue have released Royal Blend Vintage which is 1:1 of this fragrance down to the poor performance lol (maybe it will improve once the fragrance macerates over time). There is a minor small difference in dry down - I prefer the Royal Blend Vintage dry down. I think it's crazy on how close dupes are getting to the real thing. As for old fashioned, it does remind me of single malt - single malt is deeper/richer but essentially the same dna. Dua fragrances do a fantastic version of single malt (spiritus dei) which is one of the best fragrances I own. If you are looking for a better performing scent with the same DNA, I suggest you go with Ambre Russe which is the king of these boozy/amber fragrance IMO. But yes, this is fantastic, initial blast is 10/10.... but not worth the money due to the performance and French Avenue release. Oh btw, if you like Apple Brandy then Alexandria fragrances have Wasted Moment which is 95% the same as the original Apply Brandy released by Kilian which is discontinued. I'm not here to sell dupes lol... these fragrances get discontinued often so it's useful to know about alternatives.

This is the best in The Liquors collection, and yes it's killing Angel's Share so cry about it. My favorite drink to get of all time is an Old Fashioned. The orange peel with the bitters, and a smoked glass to make that beautiful smoky taste is something I always make sure to get when I'm having a night out. It's something that sets the mood every time for me for a good and serene weekend out. The whiskey in this fragrance shines from the moment you spray this on. The wheat, davana and tolu balsam combine for this sweet and inviting smell of sensuality that just whisks you away to sitting in a jazz bar in a red-leather seat with a Tom Ford suit on. I need a 3.4ml of this because I love it so much, and I will have it. If I have to settle for the 1.7ml then that's fine with me. 10/10.

First thing with this.. let it dry down before you judge it! This is a very rollercoaster of first 2 days of wearing. On initial spray I didn’t care for it. The opening for me started with pouch tobacco and boozy note. I scrubbed it cause it wasn’t working even 30 min. I gave it another shot today for work. Well, I really enjoy it now. The opening grew on me, but the beauty in this comes 1 hour in till skin scent. I think it mellows out to more old fashioned inspiration as it goes. 8/10 Update: I wore this last night. Ordered an old fashioned drink and wore this frag. Ya, it’s pretty close smell wise. I let my friends smell the comparison and they agreed. My wife got a cherry note which is surprising considering the note breakdown.

A gentleman’s gem! I stopped by Sephora tonight and sampled this along with Apple Brandy and Angel’s Share. AS is way too feminine for me, smells good though. AB is a synthetic mess on skin, not near as good as the OG. THIS is flat out amazing! It reminds me of my old Single Malt by Kilian that I sold back in 2016. It’s been 2 hours on skin and I get this amazing rich deep boozy cedar wood with tasteful spices to lift it up. It’s leaving a beautiful scent trail still. I am very picky on my collection and currently own Incense Oud along with Back to Black by Kilian, both from 2015 and their best offerings imo. I will be adding this once I can find a bottle that is reasonably priced!

Just grabbed this so haven’t even had a full wearing yet, but I like it. If you read above and below you’ll see people comparing it to other Killian fragrances, and it’s all true. It’s got pieces of Angels Share, and Apple Brandy in it - it’s got that signature Killian winter fragrance note, that smooth boozy note. This is def a winter winner - HOWEVER, if you have any of the above, sample them all and pick your favorite, they’re similar and they’ll be used in the same situations. They’re not the SAME, but similar enough. Lastly, Single Malt this is not. Which makes me sad, I was never able to get a full bottle of that one and next to Phantom it’s my favorite.

Its good, like really good, but you can get a very similar juice for a fraction of the price Spiritus De Plum Cigarillo by The Dua Brand. There is a slight off putting thread in the opening of the Dua version which is not present in Kilians, however, after that passes, they are almost identical, but there is a difference in quality for sure. I have the Dua one but will buy Kilians once the Dua is empty. To me it does not really smell like an old fashioned, which is my signature drink btw, but rather like the name of the Dua version, slightly sweetened plum liquor (balkan rakia comes to mind) and cigarillo in the drydown, absolute heaven.

This is absolutely a masterpiece. The opening is like sticking your nose in a glas of whisky. Not a smokey whisky, but a grainy, sweet single malt with some fruitiness. I like this more than Angels Share. Yes... I do. The dry down is soft and sweet, elegant and refined. It reminds me of Pure Malt from Mugler. But more streamlined and mature and less fruity. I also notice a little apple tobacco kind of note in the dry down. To add a critical note.. the performance is a little weak.

I really enjoy this mass release. I miss the days of By Kilian being a smaller brand. I am still wrapping my mind around it being in every Sephora. I will get used to that at some point. It doesn't bother me that other brands are widely distributed. Maybe it's because I am use to them being that way. I still think of By Kilian as being a smaller brand. NOT ANYMORE! To me this leans masculine. I really enjoy it though. Layers well with Angels Share.

Double oaked bourbon. Vanilla caramel with the high notes of wheat and balsamic. I don’t drink Old Fashions, too strong for me, but this is not too strong to wear, and it reminds me of the smell of bourbon on my husband’s lips. 🫠😍 So this is a fall & winter date night scent for me. Apple Brandy on the Rocks is a sweeter & lighter scent. This has a similar dna, but is deeper, less apple, and has a larger projection and longevity.

Anyone who said this reminds them of Tom Ford - Tobacco Oud is 1000% correct. I have TF Tobacco Oud and this is close to a dead ringer. They are slightly different as this one is less dank and slightly sweeter but it seems like a spin off of the same scent. If you want Dank and Dirty Vegas Club go for TF. If you want toned down, more amber in nature, less offensive try this instead. Same same, but different.

probably not a popular opinion and i have not tried single malt but either way this fragrance to me is an absolute masterpiece. amazing smell, boozy, cozy, dry, spicy, slightly herbal. got the longevity, got the projection and the price i paid for a 100ml was as low as 200$. literally a win win win win. and this just goes to show smell is extremely subjective given the comments i have below me LOL

I blind bought Old Fashioned & was one of my best ever blind buy. Basically, it is one of the best boozy, warm, cozy, sexy fragrance in the market.. PERIOD! The majority of the comments here are negative & misleading, but who cares, wear what compliments you & not what compliments others.. PERIOD! Gave me a lot of TF Tobacco Oud vibes which is another great add on to me ✌🏻

Wow! Very impressed. At a recent trip to H Beauty in Bristol, this and Narcotic Delight were the only two stand-outs for me. Very impressed with this one. I really don't know how they got the orange rind oil to come through. Unbelievable. I don't think this stuck around for too long, but that's OK, when it smells just like my favourite cocktail.

These fragrantica notes got me tripping. Smelt it... guessed the notes... none on of them on here... the frick???? Brandy/Rasin/Whiskey single malt/port.... MOST importantly it just smells like brown sugarrr.. I am inspired by the perfume I bought port/raisins and oats... I will make a porridge with boozy raisins inspired by this fragrence.

According to some users, this literally reminds them of anything that has the word "Whisk(e)y" in it 🤦🏻 The closest to this is Single Malt with a touch of (the original) Apple Brandy. Sweet & fruity on paper—more like Manhattan than Old Fashioned—but drier on skin. I welcome the return of this scent although it's nothing new.

You get booze and a somewhat dry, wheaty base, but the main thing I smell is a zesty apple. I believe the sweet boozy notes and the bergamot culminate into an apple smell. This comes off as almost a cider to my nose. Warm, spicy, boozy apple. I like it a lot, somewhat reminiscent of Angel's Share but much less sweet.

Sweet on the top notes before settling down into a boozy ambery scent. Good for winter and fall, not quite office appropriate but acceptable for a date or a christmas party. Good for a first scent if its your first Killian and you havent had your heart set on Apple Brandy yet.

This smells exactly like the drink "Old fashioned" yummy sweet bourbon smoky with orange peel.. I like it Update: veryyyyy boozy, you have to love this scent profile to handle Old Fashioned and Angel Share together in your collection. But still like it, very nice 👌

So delicious! I want to eat it. It’s sweet but not cloying. I don’t think it smells like straight up booze as some have said. More like its doing an impression of bourbon. To me it smells like bread pudding with whiskey sauce. My perfect fall/winter fragrance.

This is delicious. I just tried it for the first time. I do love it. It’s Leans masculine, but I would wear it. You can smell the hey note that lends to that whiskey boozy Scent profile. I also feel like it smells a little similar to Tom Ford’s Amber absolute

This is pretty nice. Not sure if it's a love yet. If I had to draw a parallel, I would say that reminds me of Carlisle, but substitute more booze in for the tobacco that's present in Carlisle. And unlike most Kilian frags, this has decent longevity and push.

This has a fantastic, addictive smell. It's a boozy plum with tobacco and cinnamon. With a hint of vanilla and cedar all the way through the dry down. An easy way to describe this fragrance would be a boozy fig newton. It lasts about 8 hours on my skin.

Shockingly realistic whisky smell. I don’t get any sweetness from this; just pure whisky with a deep woody dry down. Therefore, I would also say it’s leaning towards rather masculine but maybe that’s just my personal association :)

I don't think I can describe this any better than the name... It smells like an old-fashioned. Whiskey, sugar, bitters. High quality, and very nice. Typical killian style, and lasts long. I'm happy with it!

It smells like an old, damp, woody liquor—a whiskey. The smoky air in the dry-middle notes is particularly nice. Longevity and sillage are moderate (around 5 hours).

Weird how vodka is not in the notes. I tried this at Sephora. This smells like you stuck your nose in a vodka bottle. Which means i love it. I love boozy scents.

This is identical to Single Malt. They differ in the opening but that’s about it. I have them side to side. Lovely smell. Extremely Identical

Tested this out on a strip at my local Saks today, as their Kilian section is typically pathetic in terms of bottles that are available to spray (and even bottles of some of the most popular scents like LDBS in stock). Among this collection, they had old fashioned, angels share, roses on ice and apple brandy. I wanted to save my arms and wrists as I wanted to try out some vanilla perfumes on my skin. I sprayed both old fashioned and apple brandy on strips. The lady assisting me then suggested I also smell angels share (I’m sure I’ve smelled it before but yes it was lovely). I had known at first which one I was holding was old fashioned and which was the apple brandy but then the cards were mixed up and I wasn’t sure and had to do it again. First time around though I had her smell the two as I felt there was a significant similarity between the two. Second time around, maybe because she didn’t over spray them as I did first time, I felt apple brandy felt a twinge more masculine, not as warm or enticing as old fashioned. I think all three scents (w the exception of ROI as I am not one for rose frags nor did I try it), felt like they were unisex and could see them smelling wonderful on a man who desires more than just one signature scent, and a lady who likes a fall/winter oriented amber scent that pairs well with a cashmere sweater and riding boots. Though not listed in the notes, I could have sworn there was some vanilla in this. I finally gave in and used my left inner elbow to spray it on my skin. 3-4 hrs later, the scent vanished, understandably so, as I didn’t over spray, nor test it on a more ideal area, along with my long sleeve shirt and light jacket, and hour+ outside in between the walk to and from weren’t great factors to have it stay with me longer. I don’t have too much experience with Ks perfumes, as I only own two FB, as well as 2 samples to test, (all are vastly different than the liquor collection). The lady told me that as nice as some of Ks scents are, the biggest issue with their frags are the longevity (or lack of). Taking that in account, as well as the outrageous prices for their perfumes, I do think if you’re going to spend $300+ on a bottle, it better project and last for 4 hrs minimum, but that’s just me. The 2 FB I own I find the longevity to be quite decent, lasting between 3-7+ hrs, depending the attire, how much is sprayed, and time of year, amongst other factors. The 2 samples I own are both eau fraiche, and I find them to last 5+ hrs minimum. I don’t think it’s a one size fits all for all frag houses, in my case, some scents fade before I’d be out and about, and others carry on till morning. Out of the various scents I did spray today, I will say this was one of my favorites, but I will need to experience it more before splurging. I do love how beautiful the bottles are, but not a reason to buy a perfume. Based on the notes listed, and not knowing how some smell, I could really only detect cedar, as it had an oaky base, but not overly woody. I got a semi boozy vibe with hints of cinnamon spice, bourbon vanilla, and a smidge of cider in the mix, subdued with amber. This is a perfect example of frag notes listed and what other people experience, can smell so completely different on another individual and pick up on things unmentioned.

An awesome immortelle and cedar fragrance. I don't drink much in general, much less cocktails, so I don't know what an old fashioned is supposed to smell like, I doubt it's pure whiskey but I guess that would be the next closest thing. This doesn't smell like whiskey, the opening reminds me a lot more of a vanilla-flavored soda we have in certain regions of Mexico named Toni Col. I didn't get any boozy smell out of this, just a vanillic, maple syrupy woody scent, the first few minutes also having a distinct wheat note. Old Fashioned has the same robust and dark cedarwood base from Straight to Heaven, as well as the best immortelle note I've smelled in any fragrance so far. Immortelle usually has a herbal "texture" underneath its distinctive maple syrup-like smell, but the herbal aspect is completely missing here, which I like a lot, not that I mind when it does smell herbal though. As it dries down the cedarwood subsides heavily, making the immortelle stand out more alongside a tobacco-like scent. I will give Old Fashioned the benefit of the doubt, as when I tried it on a strip in store it did smell a lot more like whiskey than my sample. I also don't see the similarity people claim this has with Apple Brandy On The Rocks, they're both very different fragrances. Performance left a lot to be desired but this is very cedarwood heavy and I'm somewhat anosmic to it, so it played into my perception of performance. Projection was weak with a disappointingly light sillage that I had a hard time smelling even after spraying this on my skin. Longevity is decent, however, reaching 6 hours but already as a really faint skin scent.

Have worn this a couple of times now. Beware of the reviews from people who are clearly repeating garbage they read somewhere else. Performance: Lasts longer than other Kilian fragrances on my anglo-saxon skin. Can still smell it 8 hours later. In comparison - most other Kilian fragrances are gone within 4 hours on me. Smell for the first 3 hours reminds me of liquors called Cointreau and Drambuie. Literally splash Cointreau on yourself, and you'd be pretty close. And that is the main downside to it in my opinion. I feel it is suitable for wearing in the cold weather with friends or cool night. Leans masculine but some women can get away with non-floral, darker, alcoholic scents. Initial smell: Boozy, orange, touch of cherry and sweetness. After 30 mints: As the alcohol wears off, the orange sweetness is very prominent. Picture glazed oranges that might be on top of an orange cake. After 3 hours: the sweet orange wears off and the cherry is more prominent. At this stage it reminds me of the drydown of Absolute Aphrodisiac by Initio. Kilian has made another unique fragrance with this. It is strong. Probably my 3rd/4th favourite in the Kilian line up. Worth a try? Yes. Worth a full bottle? ... its not offensive, but you might not love it enough to wear it frequently. Sample first.
