Sacred Wood

I was fortunate to receive a sample spray, one of the branded glass vials, with about 1ml left. So usually I like to at least use the whole vial or own and wear a bottle several times before leaving a review, but occasionally there are exceptions - if something really has an impact on me one way or another. So today is only my 3rd time wearing this. 1st time a single spray to arm in evening, second time a "full day forearm" test, and today, a full wear. But I feel I want to share my thoughts because, wow, what a scent! Sacred Wood has been an enigmatic scent to me. Only 2 notes (allegedly), but no, not to my nose. I get the sandalwood, and the warm sweet milk yes, but to me, I would say this also had some other woody notes alongside sandalwood...I am not able to discern what exactly but it feels there is something more...and definitely some soft, very soft warm spice notes, and maybe possibly the tiniest hint of wheat or immortelle? Is my nose playing tricks? And the milk note, oh my...this is almost more like evaporated milk (is that the same as condensed milk? The thick sweet creamy stuff in cans) - a Pakistani friend makes a drink that is hot steamed evaporated milk with spices, cardomon, chai spices, something like that, and the milk note here reminds me of this lovely fragrant sweet drink. And this scent changes so much as I wear it. The first time I sampled it, the opening felt very "masculine" on me. Very woody, very dry. I sniffed for the first few minutes, then rolled down my sleeve and carried on whatever I was doing. And pretty much forgot about it, thinking only I may give it my partner. But then, maybe 4 hours later I found myself doing the "what IS that amazing smell" thing we have all done at some point..."oh! it is me!" The scent wafting up through my sleeve was just divine..just beautiful, I can't even tell you! And it lasted all evening, and into bed, and the next day and the day after, my jumper smelled of this on the sleeve so much I didn't want to wash it! The second time I wore it, as soon as I applied it I thought of Serge Lutens Jeux de Peau, this shared many similarities in my mind, the rich creamy sandalwood and sweet hot milk, though JdP is much sweeter, more intense, and has gourmand notes this lacks - coconut, wheat, apricot, licorice. But still, this did very much remind me (and tested side by side they definitely ARE similar, though different). Anyway, similar thing, first 4 hours I thought this is nice, but I already have JdP...then after 4 hours "oh my god something smells awesome...its me!" Third day, today and a proper full wear (faulty sprayer made this difficult, so I had to do 4 sprays into my palm and apply attar style)and initially I actually couldn't smell it! I was disappointed. But then I walked into the room where my partner was sat, he was about 8 or 9 feet away and as I came to the door he asked what perfume I had on because it was STRONG! So maybe I am partially anosmic to the opening? I waited with patience and there it was, 4 hours in, oh divine scent! The richest creamiest and most balanced sandalwood with such sweet hot milk, this is lovely. I have found that longevity is very good, this lasts a good 12 hours on my skin, and on clothes, for days. Pretty huge sillage, at least initially, even if I cannot smell it. And over the day, as I move around I get wafts of this reaching my nose and I want to smile and hug myself! This started as a like but is now love! I am considering selling my remaining 45mls of Jeux de Peau to fund a mini of this. I only wish I could smell the opening others describe, it sounds amazing!

Okay first off, Fragrantica: I have a bone to pick with you. Not all of the notes are listed on here - actually, literally only two are. While those two might be the most detectable notes, I think it's only fair that people get to vote on the other accords that are also in the blend. And it's obvious that those notes exist - hell, they're listed on Kilian's official website. I'd appreciate it if they were listed here as well, so people aren't potentially turned off at the prospect of purchasing a fragrance that's only sandalwood and milk based on their knowledge. With my rant over, let me discuss my love for Sacred Wood. It's divine sandalwood. A pure, robust, sandalwood, expressed in such a careful and respectful manner that allows it to stand out instead of blend in with the other notes. It's got a smooth, ambrous tinge from myrrh and balsams, a smoldering, yet very attractive Straight to Heaven-esque cedar note, a vintage, almost gourmand smokiness from amyris oil, and finally, a clean, calming milk note. I love the concept, and how the sandalwood is taken in various directions from opening to drydown - leaning sensual and inviting in the opening, and powdery and lactonic in the drydown. I'd argue the latter is my absolute favorite part - ironic, considering I'm lactose-intolerant, but I find milky notes in fragrances to be comforting, and Sacred Wood is no exception. Overall, the scent profile does live up to its name, clearly holding the keynote sandalwood as a sacred medium throughout and only allowing supporting notes to enhance the sandalwood's presence and aroma. Performance-wise, it definitely does better than Straight to Heaven, in my opinion, lasting at least twice as long and offering a fairly nice sillage for the first 3-4 hours. After the 6 hour-ish mark, it turns into a skin scent, and fades away after about 9-10 hours. A big factor for me when it comes to rating a fragrance is usage and energy, and in regards to Sacred Wood, I'd honestly consider it a full-fledged winter fragrance. It's something I'd love to use around Christmas/other Holidays, as it gives off a bit of a cookies-and-milk vibe. Or maybe just on cozy days in general, where you feel like wrapping yourself up in a fuzzy jacket or blanket and adore the snowfall outside your window while curling up by the glow of the stone fireplace. Oddly specific scenario, I'm aware, but it's got that air of nostalgia, an invocation of childhood memories where snowstorms cancelled classes and you'd get to cherish your free time at home without a care in the world. I think for me, this successfully achieves the vibe that most people attribute to Tom Ford's Tobacco Vanille - a childhood Christmas in a bottle. In conclusion... yeah, this might be my favorite sandalwood-based fragrance ever. Kilian has once again killed it with Sacred Wood, beautifully encapsulating the essence of sandalwood, honoring it in its entirety while still being complex enough to provoke thought and memory. I'm not sure if it'll be everyone's cup of tea - some people might find the sandalwood note here an overkill, and not blended in to a different, broader overarching scent profile, but it's objectively a masterful sandalwood scent. One that'll remain in my memory for a very, very long time, especially now that I'm a proud owner of a full-sized bottle.

Im not sure why reviewers mention price so often when it comes to the house of Kilian, which then drives the rating to the ground because of it. But if a frag is considered “cheap” and smells remotely good it’s an auto 10?. Listen, this fragrance is by far one of if not the best sandalwood fragrance I’ve ever smelled on my skin. I am going to compare this to Santal Blush by Tom Ford. Very creamy and soft with that seductive sandalwood and cedar, but not too feminine, it’s such a good scent. I can also tell you that woman in the city wear a lot of santal based scents, I smell santal 33 very often while in NYC. The reason is because sandalwood is a very alluring note, and Kilian sources their notes with the highest integrity. So, the old saying “you get what you pay for” is alive and well with this fragrance. But then again if people don't know what they’re smelling or don’t care to know then I can see why it’s being overlooked because of price. To each its own, this scent is a godsend on me. I feel... so calm, relaxed and confident when wearing this frag. I get so many people that ask not only me but people in the same room standing 10 ft away from me “What smells so good is that you?” And I just smile to myself and keep it moving. Don’t sleep on this one, it was discontinued once before, get a bottle of this.

I love this scent! LOVE it. Which is why my husband's reaction to it was so funny to me. While sampling at a high end store yesterday, I sprayed this on my wrist and was delighted by the rather natural smelling blend of notes I could detect: sandalwood, cumin, fig leaf, coconut and cedar. Its a very nice approximation of mysore, though obviously not the real thing. To my nose the overall effect was very luxe, woody, creamy, and sexy in the way that it suggests warm skin. Pleased with myself and how it smelled on my skin, I offered my wrist to my husband and asked him what he thought. He recoiled and pronounced "it smells like coconuts and B.O.!" He was most definitely not a fan of Sacred Wood. Despite his reaction, I still think Sacred Wood is wonderful and I don't agree that it smells unwashed. The cumin in this adds a warm depth that reminds me of skin. I wouldn't necessarily say this is beachy, but I can imagine wearing this in tropical climates. This sits squarely between the dry woodiness of Tam Dao and the spiced fig sandalwood of Santal Blush. I think I'll wait a few months and test it again and see what he thinks. Perhaps he'll change his mind. Perhaps I'll still buy even if doesn't. ;) Notes from Lucky Scent: Steaming milk accord, sandalwood, carrot, cumin, elemi, cedar wood.

Yesterday I tried an array of perfumes at Sephora, and this is the one I decided to spray on and wear home. And hmmm, looking several reviews down... Sacred Wood is not supposed to be mind-blowingly unique, as the focus is specifically on woodiness; it's about refining and perfecting a linear woody blend. That being said, the quality of the blend is what counts, here. It's stunning for what it is, and doesn't need anything extra - if you want bells and whistles, find a different perfume. If you want more out if it, layering is your friend (I'd bet layering it with vanilla would be top notch.) Sacred Wood is sandalwood wrapped in a milky haze of marshmallowy ambrette and warm resins... as if someone burned sandalwood incense in a sauna room. A foggy, humid, woody richness. I love it - not enough for a full bottle at retail, tbh, but it worked so well with my chemistry I could go for a decant. It doesn't change as you wear it, it has no secrets... the way it introduces itself is the nature of it, until it fades after 4ish hours. I had no issues with projection - I was catching ghosts of it until it wore down. Overall, it's beautifully done. Unisex. It's so languid that it has a melacholic undertone to it. Would make a perfect enveloping fragrance for when the weather turns cool.

One of those fragrances I tried when it first came out and wasn't that impressed by despite being a huge sandalwood fan. I've revisited it and sacred wood is a minimal composition but a 'composition' non the less. You could be forgiven for thinking it's a linear effort... because it is. However, Sandalwood does posses it's own complexity and when done right can be just fine without anything else. Sacred wood does have both the creamy, milky sawdust, wood and the spicy edge but only subtle, this definitely more of a subdued affair. There's a general woodiness too nodding to hints of cypress and cedar, probably hence the Tam Dao and Wonderwood comparisons. There's vague top notes of something more refreshing but they are short lived. So what do we have then? A very nice delicate woody fragrance which is never going to set the world a light. This being said I don't doubt the quality of the sandalwood oil used here is probably very good. I noticed that the opening is more captivating than some, then dies down very quickly offering a shy skin scent, which I don't mind so much but that's not the way you wow me Killian. The point is...I can think of many other sandalwoods I'd rather have than this expensive offering. Smells really nice though so it's worth checking out.

I sampled this fragrance on my wrist on an October day, and to I say its seeping into the cuff of my leather jacket started a love affair would be an understatement. The fragrance isn't remarkably complex and doesn't tell a story over time with wear, and that's part of why I like it. It's walking down a dimly lit walnut staircase in freshly polished shoes, or a jazz bar where you can almost smell the upright bass. There's something old and sexy about this fragrance to me, in an unconventional way. The experience kind of reminds me of a dirty martini... alluring in a way you can describe with a bite you maybe didn't expect but definitely not for everyone- it's not welcoming and it doesn't really try to be. This is my staple fall/winter fragrance and I sprung on a bottle a year after I first tried it. It's become the scent of my autumns: from a walk through a wooded park in or a candlelit date night. Sillage is noticeable but not too bad so long as you do. not. overspray. I cannot caution you enough: in my experience, over spraying will empower that balsam note to completely dominate and ruin the overall scent. Ridiculous longevity. I love her dearly.

I remembered getting this in the middle of covid -- we had a 5 km zone (we couldn't exit) and I was looking for a park near SM Coles, so I pulled over, and checked my phone, which I'd left on facebook, which auto-updated one of my perfume groups, and BOOM, less than a minute after it had been posted, someone was selling an OG Sacred Wood with the Asian Tales coffret, for 80AUD -- I would've paid 300 for it, just quietly. I secured it, paid for it, and the rest is history! I ended up selling the coffret for about 150 AUD with postage to the states, so I legit made my money back AND kept the bottle! Anyway, this is almost perfect, ALMOST -- there is a supporting aromachemical that is a little bit TOO active in the mix -- the milkyness is there, the woods, the amazing sandalwood aspect -- it's just that annoying lactone or aldehyde or SOMETHING that doesn't quite need to be there -- it ruins the whole thing! Anyway, this would be a 10 if it wasn't for that little bit. I still really like it, I still want to wear it all the time, it's just -- well -- it's not pantheon material (Santal Blush very well might be, though). 8.5 out of ten, I'd say...

Testing the OG and the new release side by side, they are clearly different. OG is more milky and vegetal on the opening, like some kind of cream of celery/carrot soup. I never bought it because it always smelled like I spilled vegetable chowder on myself. There is also a kind of faint smokiness in the OG, giving the impression of boiling milk in a green forest over a wood fire. But I always respected its quality and know that it had a huge following. The new version is similar but has a more pronounced green woody note on opening with the same milkiness but faded a bit into the background. It is also cleaner and almost "barber shop" in its vibe than the OG but less warm and vegetal, also the new is somewhat sharper and more powdery/dustier with wood chips sweetened by a dried apricot accord and projects more so it is less than a skin scent. I bought the new but never wanted the old, although fans of warmer milkier scents may like the OG more. Of the two 2022 re-releases I prefer Rose Oud (although very different from SW), but both are bottle worthy.

This stuff is beautiful, I’m not kidding, beautiful. I was slightly disappointed upon first applying it to my skin. The opening is a dry, medicinal and a, well, woody scent. I went about my business for about 30 minutes after initial application and began to get whiffs of something magical. It was that wood dipped in cream everyone was describing. This fragrance seems ethereal, it truly earns the moniker “sacred.” The person who so aptly named this scent deserves praise. A fragrance hasn’t made me smile in a while, this did. It’s linear besides the aforementioned opening, clean and light with a barely-there hint of underlying spice. It jumps off my skin at random intervals, projection doesn’t seem to be an issue. It lasts forever, 10 - 12 hours at least. People will notice you, but this isn’t sexy or aggressive. It’s really chilled out and effortless, but still a charming and mysterious fragrance. If a stranger near you was wearing this, you’d want to get to know them, they’d seem worldly.

A very creamy long lasting milkey sandalwood. I am a sandalwood lover . I have Tam Dao, Santal Blush and Bois de Iles. Sacred wood is similar to Tam Dao but less cedar, smoother , and similar to santal blush but less spicy and a little sweeter , sacred wood is the best of both of these perfumes,it is one of my new favourites in the woody category. I got the gorgeous heavy travel size with four little sprays. Quite a good deal I think I will buy all of my Kilians this way , I prefer it to the coffin. Heavy case, it has a magnetic snap top , loooove it! Certainly there are more notes to this than sandalwood and milk , I smell spices and musk , it's quite beautiful indeed. Very unisex , but like most woody fragrances it may lean towards the masculine side. It's very attractive and it lingers on clothes into the next day , creamy and yummy like a gourmand sandalwood . But I believe there are more notes here. It's extremely musky and there is also a cedar note.

This fragrance fooled my "mature" nose. I thought I bought a fake decant because this smelled like astringent and green notes to me. I was expecting "traditional" Australian sandalwood which is smooth and creamy. Once I realized that there's another type, I could appreciate this fragrance and also smell the milk accord, which I also had never smelled in perfumery. Sacred Wood will change what you think you know about sandalwood and for me, perfumery in general. Sacred Wood also taught me that even after owning and smelling hundreds upon hundreds of perfume, that there is still much to learn. Got a vintage bottle. Great sandalwood with some really interesting nuances like a greenness, balsam and powdered/condensed milk. Also has a slight petrol vibe. Long lasting on my skin with moderate scent push. Smells different in the air (clean sandalwood but not creamy) crisp and smooth. Up close I get more greenness. Not similar to TF santal blush imo. That one is waaay more powdery. This has zero powder. More similar to tam dao. I do get a little dill in this like some get in Santal 33. I heard they're supposed to be bringing this one back and they should. Fb worthy. Scent 9/10 Performance 6.9/10 P.S This is back in stock. This also has way more notes than listed here on fragrantica like carrot seed, tolu and copahu balsam, ambrette, and amyris.

Many have criticized this for being synthetic. Natural or not natural. That's the big question. Or is it? No. The big question is: does it smell good or does it not smell good? Months after finishing my sample, I have been thinking of this fragrance frequently. I just can't let it go. It is so sensual, spiritual and mind blowing. Yesterday I ordered a full bottle. 50 ml of liquid masterpiece. They who say that money can't buy happiness have mot tried sacred wood. Edit: I received my 50 ml bottle today. Amazing presentation. Not much to add regarding the smell. I agree that sacred wood are a bit sharp in the beginning. Its sharp, but still good. After 45 min sacred wood become smoother and very close to mysore sandalwood. Love it. 9/10

I agree with Klonoa07 that the sandalwood here is comparable to Santal Majuscule. It's risible to claim this contains Mysore Sandalwood, a total piss-take on the part of the brand, however it is a very beautiful take on a mysore sandalwood accord. It smells pretty bizarre when you stick your nose into your arm and get the subtle nuances, but the overall effect and sillage are lovely. I don't get the dill, and nor, thus, do I get the santal 33 comparison. This is much more restrained and creamy. There is a slight sour edge to the milkiness but I find this aspect draws me in, and it's becoming the closest thing I could imagine to being a signature. It's quiet, so you can't go wrong, but is also delicious, intriguing and persistent.

This is the only fragrance i regret selling. In my top 5 of favourite fragrances ever. I hear people compare this to Tam Dao and Milky musk, among other creamy Sandalwood fragrances. Same notes, but this one is just so masterfully done and doesn't even smell close to those this is being compared to. Sandalwood and Milk, but not creamy at all like others are. The Milk is very transparent and pleasant, like a cold breeze of mountain air with a slight woodsy scent to it which is why i find it unique compared to other Sandalwood scents. Not strong either so it's appropriate for just about any occasion. Stays in Your personal Space being inoffensive, but it leaves a weak trail behind you. A true gem, that Kilian sadly discontinued.

This is a rather quiet and mysterious sandalwood... almost elusive. Opening with a tranquil clean wood note, Sacred Wood reminds me a lot of L'Artisan's Passage d'Enfer -- a little cold, clean and more like cedar with some purifying whiteness about it. With about an hour's worth of patience this transforms into a truer sandalwood scent with a distinct butteriness about it. Earthiness is detected with complementary harmonies of dirty, rooty carrot -- dry and woody, not pulpy and vegetal. Calice Becker does well to "conjure the sensuality of mythical Mysore sandalwood" (By Kilian website) without using the actual ingredient itself. The sillage from my sample is intimate but tenacious.

I love this soft, milky sandalwood fragrance and it really lasts on my skin. I've found that my skin guzzles perfumes and I havent a clue why some last on me and some don't. I purchased this as a refill(always the best way to buy kilian fragrance) and for the price 85 euro, I find it a very good everyday perfume. Deep sandalwood sweetened with milk and carrot that sits close to the skin and wafts in and out for hours. Linear yet somehow deep as well. Intriguing and comforting. This perfume is like a warm hug on a cold day. Now I don't know about Mysore sandlewood and how authentic this smell is to that, all I know is that I love it Scent 10/10 Projection 6/10 Fortitude 9/10

Elegant, subtle and nothing angled where under a balsamic and powdery bed drying into the musky fragrance, lies a very convincing and natural sandalwood good quality and forcefully pulling lines to a relaxed and zen realism, like a minimalist Japanese garden they were a great sandalwood tree that dominates it. He is accompanied by a hint of spicy milk rounding agreement providing fluffiness sandalwood fragrance and body. The duration is very good and projected moderation, so it is ideal for the day use. Before reformulations: Santal Noble and Tam Dao were my favorite Sandalwood, Sacred Wood now ranks number one. Rating: 7.5

Whoa...I am a sandalwood nut and this has to be one of the nicest sandalwood openings EVER. Sweet, creamy, dreamy, luxurious, smooth and exotic but very wearable. Very unisex. I thought Back to Black was the only one by Kilian that I would ever go ga ga over but I am mistaken. This...I love. Notes are: steaming milk accord, sandalwood, carrot, cumin, elemi, cedar wood. The steaming milk and sandalwood opening is simply swoon worthy. The dry down is a little more spicy and that somewhat figgy sandalwood note becomes a little more prominent but still very nice. But the opening is 5 great big stars!

Sacred Wood immediately reminds me of TF Santal Blush without any savory spices that sometimes come out when it’s warm outside. It’s a creamy sandalwood to the core. Like wood after it’s been smoothed out. Nothing extra and very linear but still present and projecting to me. I think it’s worth it since you can actually wear this in spring and early fall because it lacks those spices. I don’t get a pickled sandalwood or any rancid, sour milk. It’s more of a sandalwood with the feel of fresh milk, not really sweetened. On my skin that creamy texture remains, and I’m grateful.

this one sure is sweet and wonderful, but for mine it sits somewhere between 'santal carmin' (by atelier) and 'wonderwood' (by CDG). the santal is front and centre, but it doesn't dominate in the way 'santal blush' or tam dao does. it sits on the second tier of sandalwood perfumes, which isn't a shame at all, just not at the top of the pyramid. i'm not sure the list of ingredients is accurate, either. i get a lot of mild floral, not white nor buttery, but something less dominating and more sedate. it smells wonderful on its own, just not as a sandalwood scent...

My favourite from By Kilian's Asian Tales range - an understated and under-appreciated quality milky sandalwood. It is in the same ball park as Wonderwood / Wonderoud / Hinoki by CdG, but Sacred Wood is definitely more refined, complex and rounded. I get very good longevity with Sacred Wood and it projects moderately. Whenever i wear it I feel calm and relaxed (as opposed to Dries Van Norten par Federic Malle which is a sandalwood on another realm which stimulates instead of calms, and which is perfect for evoking an altogether different mood/ atmosphere).

The best light, airy sandalwood perfume I’ve ever smelled. What I really appreciate is that it doesn’t have the added spices or heavy incense that so many wood-based perfumes tend to include (which is a huge pet peeve of mine. I just want to smell like sexy pencil shavings!) Sacred Wood delivers exactly that: pure, simple, resiny sandalwood. The only downside? It has the longevity and sillage of a fart. :( And on some skin chemistries, it might lean a bit too close to armpit BO. Make sure to test it out on yourself several times before getting it!

As a big fan of Sandalwood, I've been eager to try this for awhile. I have to say I'm a little disappointed. The open to this scent with the carrot seed is awful, then it dries down to a creamy Sandalwood with a lactonic overlay. The performance is what really surprised me. It lasts forever, but this stuff has no push off of skin. I don't know if it's been reformulated, but I thought it would perform better than this. It's a good fragrance, but the price of this can't be justified. I'm happy to have smelled it, but it's just not bottle worthy.

I tried this fragrance recently and have a full bottle of Wonderwood. As other people has pointed it, I think they are very similar but The Kylian has a milky note that Wonderwood lacks. That milky note has a resemblance to my my beloved Gucci Rush but for some reason, Fragrantica does not allow me to put that in the "Reminds me of" section. Honestly I didn't find the connection to Tam Dao and for me that's a good thing. I really liked Sacred Wood, but for the price Wonderwood is a better choice IMHO.

I really like some of By Kilian frags and have one in my collection and I really love this one! *But*...it's similar to my beloved Wonderwood by Comme des Garcons. I won't be purchasing Kilians because of this. UPDATE: I couldn't resist and purchased the travel size with beautiful heavy case & magnetic cap...love it. It closely resembles my Wonderwood but oh well! I get compliments on this each and every time I wear it--<3 Longevity: 10/10 Sillage: 10/10

100% biased opinion here because I love sandalwood (be it creamy or pencil shaving). My favorite Kilian. Very much Tam Dao profile, so even though the notes listed here give an impression of a creamy scent, this is actually quite dry for me. I have the Asian Tales and it's absolutely perfect. I think The Cellars version may not be as strong (this is what I was told by their customer service--not sure if that's true). 9/10 for me

Very balsamic and warmly spicy, and obviously very woody. The sweetness is ever so slightly floral, but overpowered by the spicy balsam. Don’t get any milky notes. It’s good, an expensive smelling sandalwood based fragrance, but the cedar and strong balsamic spice make it very different. It’s not what I remember from before it ‘came back’, but I have a new bottle, maybe it needs to macerate, or my my memory is too nostalgic.

on the same day, I tried Le Labo 33, Tam Dao EDP & EDT, and Sacred Wood. Only SW smelled like sandalwood to me. I totally cannot get the other 2 frags, as they only distantly remind me of sandalwood. SW is a pure, gentle, classy sandalwood. I don't know if there is any real Mysore sandalwood extract in it, but it simulates the scent well. It is the only sandalwood frag I'll buy. Added to my FB list.

Ordered a 12 mL decant and really love this fragrance. It is a bit linear on me, which is OK because it is so lovely. Most of the Kilian fragrances pack a punch with sillage and a long lasting nature, this one-not so much. It is a very creamy sandalwood with a floral note, I want to say rose but im not sure. Would be FBworthy if I felt it lasted longer, but i will use up my decant and enjoy it. 4*

I tried this in Mexico; it is so similar to Wonderwood, and it definitely has Gucci Rush vibes. I didn't buy it cause for me it has 95% of what Wonderwood can offer, the only difference and the one that reminds me Rush is the milk note. Problem is By Kilian's fragrances are too expensive to pay for such a little difference. Try layering Wonderwood and Tam Dao and you probably get a similar effect.

When I was young, my aunt had sandal wood chinese hand fan. Not only, she could cool herself with it, it could freshen up the air with sandal wood scent. Sacred wood reminded me of the scent from that fan. It is milky and creamy woodsy scent. I like like the spicy opening, but it gets even better and better going into the dry-down which is the best part. Performance is great. Really love it.

Simply put: The best sandalwood out there. To me its more closer to Wonderoud than Wonderwood due to the lack of cypress and spices. Though it's linear, it is such an exquisite refined fragrance with excellent longevity and performance. If you could find a refill bottle go with that, or just get yourself Wonderoud. It's like literally 95% similar, that 5% that's missing is the creaminess.

How can one say no to a sacred wood! I haven't tried everything from the brand, but enough to grow tired of it. Yet, this fragrance captivates me with its dry and aromatic wood, exactly the way I like it, without irritating products or bothersome notes. It creates a soothing ambiance, perfect for reflection and study. Have you seen their travel spray? What a lovely item!

Creamy comforting sandalwood! If that’s your thing this is it. Smelt this in Sephora and it was an immediate purchase! It’s creamy warm but airy as well making it a go as a year round scent in my opinion. Naxos has reigned king being my sig scent until I put my nose on Sacred Wood with Royal Crown Sultan being a very close second to 1a (SW) and 1b (Naxos).

I must admit I am not into gourmand scents, yet I absolutely adore it and enjoy every moment. Sacred wood is so pleasant, milky and soft, you feel as if you came back home after a long journey. And there is a home- baked cake awaiting you. You can sense the yeast, cream and some spices, all these scents are so comfortable and familiar.

Sandalwood, Salty accords, milk accord, it could be a foundation for say an oriental type of fragrance, yes I can see that. Tam Dao, yeah somewhat but the sandalwood here is different in that it smells like the real thing as opposed to slightly accorded and sharper in Tam Dao, to me anyway. I love this fragrance, nothing else to say.

This is a masterpiece of sandalwood... The name of the perfume is just perfect, it even feels holy with this scent. Very clean and airy, and pure wood scent embraces you. Other than many other sandalwood perfumes, this is not creamy. I like it to spray on my clothes than on the skin. This way you can smell it almost for 3 days.

A linear fragrance that hardly changes between opening and dry down but boy is this smell addictive. Sweet, creamy Sandalwood that is extremely inviting! Performance is also fantastic, can still smell it on jackets weeks after and the spillage is fantastic, the first backup bottle I’ve ever bought also. Highly recommended. TJ

Big surprise for me. Made only of 2 components but so complex. It wasn`t special on paper. It started to live when I wore it. It reminds me a hot windless summerday. Ground is crying for rain. Grass is drying. I feel some dill seeds, some plant or herb and milky note. Happy soft scent! Unisex and well-lasting.

Sandalwood mixed with milk solids , thick and almost gourmandish sandalwood. Very linear , clean and straightforward. Performs very good and lasts for about 6hrs on skin , more on clothes. Too linear for some people but to my nose it's perfect because I want sandalwood and it's sandalwood , period.

Really woody. Sexy. Lumberjack vibes. Spicy but in a very natural way. Kind of an old money type of fragrance. Like, if you smelled this on an old guy on the upper east side you wouldn’t give it a second whiff. However, really refreshing and sexy on a 20 something. 10/10 on the right person

Reviewers need to start saying where they purchased from and batch codes cause some of these reviews are mind blowing. This is a very creamy sandalwood. Last forever on clothes and skin 9/10. I purchased from Sephora. Don’t have the bottle near me to give you the batch number.

Bought a sample of this and I love it, love it, just love it. Reminds me very much of Diptyque Tam Dao BUT this one lasts all day. Sad to say it is a bit too expensive, staying in Sweden I have to pay for shipping and customs and all together it ́s just to dream on........

IM a huge kilian enthusiast and let me tell u something, This is the most masculine kilian sent ever. If any man wears this with a formal suit , all the ladies would be over him it’s just so darn sexy wow..... probably my 2nd favorite kilian scent first is back to black

Seeing some comments about poor performance. I agree, the new re-release seems to have poor longevity and becomes a skin scent much quicker than my older bottles. In my personal experience with a few Kilian fragrances, they all seem to last longer on my clothing.

This has the same sandalwood note that I detect in Santal Majuscule and I am in LOVE! I had been looking for something with that same sandalwood note but not as sweet or heavy that I could use during the day and in the warmer months. My search is finally over 🥰

This is hands down the best sandalwood fragrance i have smelt & i have over 100 fragrances. It’s smooth, milky & woody. The ingredients are so well blended together they create beautiful aroma. If not for the price point this would’ve become a signature scent.

Pleasant, not too heavy even though it's wood based. This perfume was also approved by all of my picky family members which is NOT common. However I sometimes think the smell feels too BROWN, so I often layer it with something fruity or lighter.
