Sophie Matisse Art Edition Straight To Heaven, Splash Of Lemon

Having been a fan of the original, I thought I would absolutely hate this "splash of lemon" version. My Initial thoughts were "really...a niche flanker?" And ""what's this? Straight to Heaven Eua Tres Fraiche?" After trying this I have come away with a much different conclusion....the Lemon should have been there from the very start! Who would've thought that the simple addition of lemon would take this from a "nice fragrance" to something truly extraordinary. By Kilian did not water down this composition as all of the original components are still there. It has lost zero complexity. The splash of lemon only seems to add another layer to that complexity while simultaneously making the composition a bit brighter, and infinitely more versatile. Original straight to heaven in my opinion came across as very distinguished and incredibly serious the addition of Lemon however has made it more daring and added a bit of confidence, adventure, and sexiness to the overall work. Unlike previous reviewer's I find the lemon stays around for a good portion of the fragrances life.....it becomes more subtle but it remains certainly present This does NOT however come across as a carefree/simple little summertime version, Eau Tres Fraishe, or a Sports Flanker. Straight to Heaven SOL has Depth...the Lemon cuts some of the thickness without totally killing its general boozy texture. The woods and booze still come off quite dark but are lightened just enough. The patchouli and cedar mix perfectly and remain ever present with a hint of sweetness that softens it up and rounds it out ever so beautifully. I could, in truth never go back to wearing the original Straight to Heaven again. Possibly My favorite By Kilian. -A truly masculine fragrance that can be worn all year round. -Absolutely fantastic during the day but also shines at night. -Great for both semi formal and formal settings. -Lasting 6 to 8 hours I get average longevity with slightly above average projection and Silliage. -Could be a great confidence booster if giving a presentation or meeting but could also be pulled of as a great work scent. Certainly signature worthy. My only criticism is, while the bottle is nice, I prefer the black casket presentation. Character: Mark Hanna played by Matthew Mcconaughey in "The Wolf of Wall Street"

The first time I smelled this fragrance it made me want to sell my collection, so that I could buy every possible bottle of this awesome scent! However, after the initial burst, the dry down sits closer to my skin than D&G's The One. No one can smell this on me, unless their nose is touching my arm. So sad. Great use of cedar, rum, and a big bright lemon. Versatile. Unique. Sexy. Weak sauce. Boo.

I just layered this one with Guerlain L'Homme L'Eau Boisé, and I love it. Fresh and clean. Exactly how I want to feel before bed.

This is the most "satisfying" of the trio. I smell a lot of ISO e super in this one. Wonder if that's correlation..

I agree with the previous fragrance assessments...This is a lighter version of the original but with an initial burst of fresh lemon, rind and juice. I want to bring attention to the packaging/bottle artwork. This fragrance is part of the trio of fragrances in Kilian's "Sophie Matisse (granddaughter of Henri Matisse) Art Edition". I think that the fragrances (Straight to Heaven, Splash of Lemon; Good Girl Gone Bad, Splash of Neroli; and Bamboo Harmony) and the artwork are meant to reflect a lighter and brighter side of the line...probably intended as an offering for warmer climates/seasons. This deviance from Kilian's previous look may just be the beginning of a trend from Kilian whose tagline reads "Perfume As An Art". He is already combining his scents with signature jewelry and handbags. I love the concept of combining mixed medias in an artform. Olfactory and visual art as one has been a concept through the use of bottle design and packaging for ages, but it will be interesting to see where he goes with it. Although, in the end, it really is all about the juice.

I sniffed this in a boring manner of being prepared to hate yet another Kilian and was pleasantly surprised. I didn't even bother to look up the name. Now I get what's the deal, it's a remix of the good one from the first artistic ten. In my perfect world they could stop there, but sadly comercial success is not only about the art part. I dearly love Straight to Heaven, but some of his new stuff is pure horror to me and even the addictive state of mind seems pointless after those initial 10. Because they managed to balance on the edges of luxurious, modern, creative yet very weareable. In an old world this would probably be named Straight to heaven eau de toilette.

Injected with citruses especcialy at the top. In the drydown the citrusses dissapear and becomes more and more like the original. Again, to the weaker side. With all respect for the house because they really got some nice ones to but maybe we weren,t waiting for this release.

Smells old. A splash of lemon peels. Burnt. Reminds me of how a lemony vape juice tastes after you've hit the vape one too many times. Does that make any sense? IYKYK.

ATTENTION!!!!!!! EXPENSIVE SKIN SCENT ALERT!!!!!! ATTENTION!!!!!!! EXPENSIVE SKIN SCENT ALERT!!!!!! This remix of Straight to Heaven is what i would deem to be passive aggressive but actually, it's more like aggressive passive. The lemon note is a head jerker and smells identical to homemade lemon cleaner for your microwave. Not an unpleasant burst of citrus but something that i think should be noted especially for this finicky crowd of scent goers. After the 10min mark, the similarity to Paul Emilien's Carrousel can't be ignored but that comparison is short lived as STH goes down the boozy path with citruses being substituted with a very delicate wood. Around the 30min mark, Straight to Heaven goes Straight to the Bermuda Triangle. See the above headline for more information......

I think the name is appropriate. This is STH, with a splash of lemon. Don’t expect some completely radical departure from STH. The lemon accompanies the other notes in the first 15 minutes and then dissipates and you are left with your standard STH. No complaints from me, STH is a masterpiece. This is a cool collector piece that not many people have. Found an amazing deal and couldn’t be happier

Is this a joke? This went wrong soooo many ways...first of all, it smells like toilet freshener with lemon scent, after a while, the combo of woods, cedar probably, and lemon zest becomes the smell of old moulding lemons left to rot in a refrigerator drawer. I cannot imagine why anybody would like to smell like this! Also, sillage and lasting power are abysmal. Not worth your money.

Lighter and brighter than the original, this leads with lemon and follows through with a powerhouse of dry, masculine, cedar. It's not overly long-lived, and the drydown is musky and pleasant. TL;DR - it's nice enough, but not worth the price or the hype. (and +1 on the tampon box packaging...what were they thinking?!)

Smells the same as the original — a bland rum-patchouli-musk rendered vague through bottom-shelf materials. The only difference here is that they weakened it, stuck a goofy lemon on top, and made the packaging look more like a box of tampons. New lows for a line that's been scraping the barrel for some time.

I didn't like this one as much as the original. I didn't care for the added lemon...and it's lacking the original's warmth.
