Sweet Redemption

Impressive, bright and uplifting fragrance that is vastly different from a lot of stuff out there. Who knew I was going to be a sucker for orange blossom? One can imagine a lot of things when mentioning orange blossom but probably not how Kilian carefully blended it in their fragrance. There is no denying that this fragrance is sweet but it's a different kind of sweet, it's the kind of sweet that you assign to an orange flavored ice lolly. Huh, what? Let me explain a bit : Imagine the orange flavored ice lolly : you know you're eating something sweet and that it resembles the orange flavor and smell but the artificial nature, texture and coldness of ice balance out the flavor in such a way that you can not really compare it to a real orange anymore ... if that makes any sense. Whatever, in any case Sweet redemption also follows that weird logic. You know it resembles orange but not in the way that a real orange would smell like. The benzoin and vanilla really push it towards the ice lolly philosophy but made with expensive ingredients and with a lot of complexity. Don't worry guys/gals, you are not going to smell like a giant carrot top ice lolly! (thank god - who want's to smell like that apart from an ice cream vendor?) Just somewhere hidden in your brain you will connect to this type of smell if you remember it from your childhood. Luckily, sweet redemption also provides a slight medicinal vibe thanks to the incense that make this fragrance really really great and unique smelling. Quite mysterious in a way. I've not encountered anything similar so far and definitely not in the designer market so in a way it's niche on all levels. There is also something very uplifting and bright in this smell, it's the complete opposite from all this dark oudy and woody incense fragrances that are hitting us from all sides. Honestly, this is a fragrance for positive and optimistic people. Power? It lasts and lasts. Put on in the morning, still projecting in the evening. I would advise to keep your trigger itchy finger at bay though, 2-3 sprays is really enough, more than that and it might become too sweet. Compliments? Well, only a few so far but I can just see that people have a hard time understanding this scent trail, it's just different but rest assure, they're intrigued, not offended.

This is my second review of this scent. My first review was written in the hot and humid summer of Florida. This review was written in the cooler and drier winter. For the first time ever I got the rootbeer note others have mentioned. It surprised me. Besides the rootbeer note it opens with a Honeyed Orange Blossom full of Opoponax and Vanilla (which probably adds to the rootbeer). There is a menthol/ medicinal quality here, sitting behind the Orange Blossom, that reminds me of fresh, crushed orange leaves. Could it be from the Myrhh? Orange leaf isn't listed but I swear it's in there. The opening also has a hint of incense in the background. It's a very sweet opening. Not candy sweet but that sweet scent you know will taste bitter, like vanilla extract. It's a really interesting dynamic. As it warms up, the Orange Blossoms comes forward more and the rootbeer edge lessens. It's also a little more dessert sweet than vanilla extract-like bitter sweet (for lack of a better way to explain it). It's a lovely change and very different from the opening. There is also more... Orange... pulp? I don't know what it is, but it has a nice Zing and I am still getting a hint of that menthol/ medicinal quality that I think of as fresh crushed orange leaves. The Zing and the medicinal really balance out the dessert sweetness. It's truly lovely. The drydown is still mostly Incense with Vanilla and a hint of Myrhh. The Vanilla isn't very sweet and it is a nice break from the sweetness of the other two stages. It's warm and comforting. I'm not sure which is my favorite stage but the drydown is very beautiful. It's actually that menthol / medicinal edge, that I perceive as crushed orange leaves, that really makes this a work of art. The composition walks the line between overly sweet and overly medicinal like a tightrope walker who's perfected their skills and can run across the tightrope, blindfolded with no net. It's mastery of an art and beautiful to experience. How this composition wears is greatly impacted by the temperature and humidity (at least for me it is). More so than any other scent I've worn (except maybe Seville). The longevity is amazing and lasts forever. The Sillage is NUCLEAR and you will kill people if you are not careful and use a light hand.

Here is my second stab at the Kilian house (see Back to Black). Let me first start by saying I try to get a great deal of feeback of a fragrance the first couple of times I wear it. I typically get this from coworkers as I am around them for 8+ hours per day in a Corporate setting. I will wear a fragrance once then come back a week or two later to see what they think. Sweet Redemption got the same comments both times. The first response was you smell like a popsicle, this is something I would wear (women) and you smell great. So what do I think? Something in the combination gives this a very sweet, but not pink sugar/blue sugar, sweetness. It isn't really gourmand either which is wierd. It is the sweetness of a fresh orange without the tangy/citrusness of it. I think the vanilla really tames the tangyness which should come from the orange flower (unless the orange flower doesn't have the brightness of citrus orange found in most summer frags). As the day goes on it gets sweeter and the incense kicks in about halfway (3-4) and you have a vanilla, sweet orange incense vibe that stay with you for the next 7 plus hours. I get about 10 hours of real scent time and at least 6 hours of this projecting very well. This was my favorite Kilian but now has become number two behind Rose Oud (smell it, you have to) and then Black follows this. That may change if Incense Oud is as good as everyone says but for now this is number two. The entire Kilian line is well worth a try as it is my number one house. Sweet Redemption gets a 5/5 for accomplishing what it set out to do and doing it superior to the others!

I'm just tuning into the house of By Kilian now, at the supposed end of the L’Oeuvre Noire series, with Sweet Redemption. I had heard a lot about this house being on the strong side, and seeing that I like bold and somewhat outrageous smelling fragrances, I find that this house, and this fragrance in particular, suit my personal tastes. Sweet Redemption is either a love it or hate it. I personally adore it, however I have had many repeated wearings, over which time the scent has grown on me. It opens with a deliciously zesty and juicy mandarin orange, slightly sweet but also very natural. Once settled, Sweet Redemption has a somewhat medicinal accord, slightly antiseptic but strangely likable. The scent becomes darker and richer as the fragrance progresses. My nose seems to detect a hint of creamy benzoin, chocolate, vanilla icecream and smoky myrrh. Honestly, it is a bit of a gourmand experience, especially with all the vanillary and orangey sweetness. The base is quite sexy, with the myrrh, incense and opoponax creating something quite animalistic and gritty. I've been game enough to wear this to quite a few social gatherings, where men in particular have gone bananas over the drydown of this fragrance on my skin. It is unisex after all, and although sweet, I wouldn't call Sweet Redemption entirely feminine. This fragrance clings to fabric so well, that I can smell it on my coats and jumpers for days. The longevity is of course, very impressive, as is the sillage, which could knock someone out if applied too heavily. All in all, I'm impressed.

Oh has 2019 really changed my thoughts on sweet redemption. At first about 6 months ago I bought a little sample dab stick and when I first sampled this I immediately wanted to gag because of how cloying and sickening the orange blossom+ bitter leaf note was and yes I quickly scrubbed it off. A month goes by and I decided to give it another try but this time wait and see how this scent settles down. The scent transformed from from a bitter + syrupy orange sweet scent to a creamy orange creamsicle/ marshmallow. Wow I was very impressed with the dry down and decided to get a decant. 5 months later and this scent is now quite possibly my favorite kilian and for some odd reason the opening isn’t as cloying to me as it was before(idk , maybe my nose just got immune to it ) but ya sweet redemption is definitely the opposite of a “love at first sniff” u guys have to be patient with this one and trust me dry down is drop dead gorgeous for spring season. Creamy bitter sweet orange creamsicle dipped in marshmallow fluff, a perfect choice for an orange blossom lover. Longevity- 9 hours Sillage- beast Opening scent for first 5 mins- 4/10 Scent for first couple hours- 7.8/10 Dry down- 9.2/10

I love this. The initial spray is a little harsh and green with no sweetness, however it dries down to a very sweet orange flower scent. It is actually very similar to Love don't be shy. I cant decide which one I like more, this one is a more natural fresh bright version of their orange flower where as Love has a caramel powder overall more fluffy scent. This carries a bright plant feel with the very sweet orange flower and strong vanilla ribbon through it, but I love it. It would be great for spring. It almost feels like a hint of tuberose in the background.. I have Love and now I want this.I may even swap. Its amazing how much this changes over the dry down. I have never seen a fragrance morph so much from non sweet harsh scent to a refined sweet lovely fragrance that stays all day. Great beauty IMO. :) Ok I have decided I like the vanilla in this one once it dries down more then love. Its more straight vanilla vs the sweet cloud with Love. I think I like this more... they are very close though in dry down only, so Im not sure if both are necessary. I would love to hear other opinions on this comparison. :)

It's rather disheartening to discover that this is being discontinued. It's excellent, well-crafted orientals/gourmands that have put Kilian on the map. As others have mentioned, Kilian is known for creating bold, olfactory experiences and Sweet Redemption is definitely proof of this. Perhaps that's why I keep snapping them up like playing cards, but oh well... What catches my eye first is the juice, which is so viscous that it leaves a coating inside the vial. It looks like orange syrup, and the scent is just as strong as it looks to be in the vial. But the only solid comparison that I can make to Love Don't Be Shy is the orange flower note. The difference is that Sweet Redemption is chock full of resinous notes that its sister concoction doesn't have - it also remains a bit more linear and keeps that gooey resin goodness right up until the end. The benzoin is especially prominent, and it starts overtaking the orange a little bit when it starts reaching the drydown. I'm really sad to witness such amazing gems like these getting nixed.

This house has so far been a source of frustration and relief for me. Frustration because I had built it up in my mind quite a lot, and relief because now I won't have to concern myself with a ever more absurd wish list. Having tried very many, I am a bit jaded regarding orange blossoms. At first the orange blossom itself was very potent, however I was quite disappointed because it was simply bludgeoned by cheap, tacky, unrelenting resins sweetened with sugary vanilla. It was sweet alright.... The discordant edges took an exceedingly long time to become a cohesive unit as the resins faded away and a tart-and-sweet citrus seemed to join in, sort of a reversal of your usual perfume-pyramid structure, but still evoking nothing remotely related to the name. According to some other reviewers, this irony of tawdriness to innocent (though not overly compelling) treat is an artistry beyond my ken. Nice, but not special.

This is my favourite from Kilian. I am in LOVE with it. Gorgeous, gorgeous sweet orange blossom and vanilla perfume. Very longlasting lasted from 8.00 PM last night to this morning at 8 Am when I woke up. I went for the travel refills this time and I am very satisfied. The price is acceptable with the refills and I can put them in another refill bottle which will cost me way less than the original travel atomiser. The main reason is they remind of soaps when I used to be little and my grandmother would make a bath in the garden for me and my cousin, they smell like these memories, the smell of soap combined with flowers from the garden. This is not a simple orange blossom/neroli scent but it is a delightful combination containing these notes plus vanilla. Resembles also with Love but that one is way sweeter, like a marshmallow.

One of my favorite Orange Blossoms! This is a honeyed and sweet orange blossom. very edible. The orange blossom and opoponax are the dominant notes in the opening but I get a hint of incense and vanilla too. The heart is more benzoin than opoponax and I loose the incense but the oranges blossom is still dominant. The incense comes back in the drydown and becomes the dominant note with the orange blossom. There's also a hint of vanilla and myrhh. this is the least sweet stage of the scent which is good because by the time you get to the drydown you need a break from the sweetness. Or at least I do. The longevity is great, about 11 hours. I catch snatches of it up to a day later though. The sillage is nuclear, so use a light hand or you'll suffocate.

So beautiful!! I have a vintage travel size bottle with 1 refill. Testing in the summer heat of south Texas. Opens with a green orange blossom sweet and syrupy. The myrrh, benzoin and vanilla create a creamy fizziness or “cream soda”/ “root beer” the frankincense I smell in the deep set down and it comes across as woody in the composition. I’m wearing LDBS on the other wrist and the difference is LDBS has a powdery texture. The orange blossom mixed with Neroli creates an aromatic and “dragee” or Jordan almond candy coating feel. Projection and longevity above average If you have a bottle and want to swap or sell please message me. This is an instant love for me. I would make it my signature if I had a full bottle

Extremely clever name that people just don't "get". Oh how I tried to pass this off as "too sweet". As much as I expected it to be cloying is as much as it redeems itself almost immediately. Yes this is a sweet one. But never TOO sweet and never girly. Just like the name suggests (or flat out describes) this perfume is exactly what it says it is. This line is clearly a masterpiece at naming their work and what's ashamed is most people pass it off as trite (Aw*w poor souls just don't get it). It's not "trite" it's that YOUR NOSE don't recognize great work. A RICH full sweet perfume. Can't help but fall. I usually can't wear such sweet stuff sO boy was I delighted when this puppy took to me. ...Peace..

I just received my sample from Lucky Scent! It reminds me of a summer night party circa 1975. Incense is burning to hide the clouds of special herbs that are being passed and enjoyed by party goers as the orange trees in the back yard are making their presence known. I've worn this 3 times now, twice at home (and I love it at home) and once to work (I'm a server at a local diner) Maybe the smell of waffle's and bacon in the back ground disturb the fragrance that I smell on me right now, but I didn't care for it at work. I'm still on the fence about purchasing it. May buy another sample and wear it in the fall?

Such an addictive scent. Spicy and sweet, smoky and bright, syrupy and dry. It’s weird, but I love it. You get this bright and sweet orange blossom with a bit of really nice spice. As it starts to dry it becomes very syrupy and thick with a smokiness from the incense. Funnily enough, even the liquid itself is kind of more oily than other kilians. It thick, full bodied, and definitely the more “punk rock” sister of Love Dont Be Shy. While Love is out in the field eating cotton candy and marshmallows, Sweet Redemption is chainsmoking outside the downtown concert venue.

A beautiful and enchanting floral scent. Sweet Redemption is a mystical, enveloping and mysterious perfume.... My Soul immerses itself and is transported in a whirlwind of colours, sweet flowers and sensual amber/incensed notes. A wonderful perfume, truly extraordinary. If I had to give a color to this perfume I would give it light orange with golden and red nuances... Inebriating. Sillage : 9/10 Longevity : 9/10 Scent : 9.5/10 Overall : 9.5/10

I love this so much! Orange blossom is one of my favorite notes and, boy does this have a lot of orange blossom. Pretty good longevity, decent sillage. I've had lots of compliments on this one, too! Unfortunately, it's discontinued, but I've been able to find fairly large decants from multiple sites, so I have about 50ml. Love, love, love!

Everyone says it reminds then if something from the past but they can't remember what. From the initial blast I know what they're saying and I think I know what they're referring to.... To me, the opening sorta smells like those tootsie rolls, but the orange fruity one. That's exactly what I get in the opening of this. And I love it!!

An extension, a beautiful one, of Lutens' Fleurs d'Oranger. Or is it the other way around..? I love the addition of Oppoponax, Myrrhe and Vanille. It makes this wonderful perfume more rounded and passionate. Gorgeous Benzoin in the drydown. A new yet familiar Treasure in my wardrobe. Edit: in my top five for a while now!

I never thought I'd like this, as vanilla isn't one of my favorite main notes. I keep finding myself coming back to my sample, and I think I'm addicted to it! It's a smooth linear balsamic vanilla orange blossom. I'll probably get the smaller (and cheaper) travel size since it's so long lasting. It lasts over a day.

Gorgeous!! At first sniff I bought a decant until I can afford a full bottle. This is intoxicating orange blossom and vanilla, done in a seductive and alluring way. Narcotic and addicting. I’m in love! EDIT 9/12/2019 I loved it so much I bought the entire bottle. No regrets!!

Sadly, discontinued, this is my favorite orange blossom perfume. 🧡 Sweet. Yes, very. Orange blossom and vanilla with a lovely faint curl of incense among a depth of resinous benzoin and myrrh. Just gorgeous 🍊 Lasts ALL day.

the best in bitter orange fragrances, this perfume rules; i'm so addicted to it that i want to smell it everywhere not just on my skin.

Man, I wish I could fall in love with this one! The opening is quite nice, and the brand is so well-loved. I'm afraid I just wasn't wowed by this particular offering. Sweet Redemptions opens with a blast of orange blossom and vanilla, given slight depth and smokiness via the opopanax and benzoin. Those latter two notes are very, very faint--the orange blossom and vanilla are very dominant--but I can smell them. As the day progresses, I get even less of the other notes and more of the orange blossom/vanilla combination; it's like the concotion becomes lighter and sweeter on my skin. Overall, the scent is sweet, creamy, and vaguely powdery. Oddly enough, there isn't much of a dry down on my skin. I was expecting the myrhh and incense to develop throughout the day, but instead, Sweet Redemption just...fades away. It lasts about 5-6 hours on my skin, even when sprayed in my hair, and has a moderate projection: people will smell it if they're close to you, but it won't fill up the room. (Bear in mind, though, that I am not a "heavy sprayer.") While Sweet Redemption is relatively linear on my skin, I don't think that's inherently BAD. In fact, I'd consider purchasing a bottle if the longevity was there and the price was more reasonable. But at $4.90/mL, Sweet Redemption is astronomically expensive for a fragrance that doesn't last and doesn't take me on much of a journey. I'll give it a "like" because I enjoy it while it's on my skin, but overall, I found this much-hyped fragrance disappointing, and I won't plonk down the money on a full bottle.

I think I've been through the whole gamut of emotions with Sweet Redemption: love, hate, indifference, ambivalence, and everything in between. In the end, though, I'll have to settle for 'intriguing'. There's something contrarian going on here. Take the opening, which will appeal to the kid in you especially if you grew up loving orange cream popsicles, Tang or Fanta Orange Soda. What you get, in other words, is orange 'flavour' rather than than anything resembling the actual fruit. And yet the whole concoction somehow smells decidedly natural. As the fragrance develops, it does, thankfully, become more grown-up. Myrrh and opponax add warmth, tempering - but still respecting - the freshness of the orange blossom (that contrarian thing again). Also, I detect a mentholated and possibly fizzy note, though I have no idea what could be responsible for it if the composition, as listed, is accurate and complete. Nonetheless, it's my favourite aspect of the fragrance, giving some identity and character to an otherwise two-dimensional offering. Incense is there, politely in the background. Too politely, really - you'll have to sniff up close to catch it. As for the vanilla, it's perfectly serviceable, even if I'm convinced significantly reduced quantities of it would've have made for a far more enticing fragrance. Not full bottle worthy, but the travel spray strikes me as a fair compromise.

Sweet Redemption smells quite strange to me. Maybe it's because I'm more used to sweet, bright, or even soapy interpretation of orange blossoms, as in the first 6 hours of Sweet Redemption, the orange blossom seems to be struggling in a cloud of opoponax and incense, and the whole scent smells dry, a bit animalic and the sweetness is quite restrained. Thus, when the orange blossom and the resins and incense finally melt together into a powdery fluffy cloud in the late drydown, I almost feel it's the redemption, although still not that sweet especially compared to other orange blossom + vanilla combination, such as Réminiscence Guimauve or Mi Fa. The sillage is relatively soft and the longevity is at least 9 hours. Although I personally find it a bit weird, especially when compared with other offerings from 'L'oeuvre noire' series, I still find it quite intriguing. I think it's worth sampling if you like resins and white flowers, but blind buying is probably not a good idea with this one.

I bought this earlier at Harvey Nichols. To my nose, it is a "tamer" version of Angelique Noire by Guerlain, at least in the first few minutes. After some time, it becomes a little powdery, but again, a faint similarity with the Guerlain can be detected. I agree with Masters of Style's review on YouTube when he said it is not an uplifting orange blossom, probably because of the opoponax or benzoin? Hours later, this stayed on my skin as a faint version of Angelique Noire until it disappeared. I was waiting for incense to come, but none, no incense. I must admit I was a little disappointed after buying this given the price but will be using it everyday for this week until I finally learn to appreciate it more. I should have just bought instead Back to Black or Guerlain's Shalimar Parfum Initial. Oh well...

Opens with orange flower, and a whiff of incense. The incense is quite dark and soon mixes with other resin notes. It becomes sweeter and lighter and slightly vanillic, still with lots of sweet orange blossom. The resins are rough and they balance the sweetness of the orange blossom quite well. The drydown is a nice resinous base with an edge of incense, and a sweet orange blossom on top. Sillage is heavy, longevity moderate to long. A very nice scent, I have to say I like this more in winter than in summertime. In summertime the orange blossom sweetness is too much for me, too sugary and candy-like. In winter the resins are far more prominent, they give the scent more depth and truly complement the scent. I do like this one a lot. Perhaps a travel set, one day!

Yes! This! I think I'm in love! Rich and heady orange blossom with a creamy vanilla undertone. As it settles the resins bloom and remind me why myrrh is a favorite of mine. I keep putting my wrist to my nose and sniffing every couple breaths to see how it is progressing. Here's hoping that they never overtake the floral smell and keep being absolutely breathtaking. . . . Even though I really don't want to fall in love with a $$$ Killian scent, I could see it being worth it. -=-=-=- Today I am getting much more cream soda scent, which I do enjoy but the orange blossom isn't as strong as when I had remembered.

Holy mother of god, this is potent. A dab from a sample vial creates a huge cloud. Initially it reminds me of those scented markers from grade school. Mr Sketch. Remember those? Everyone wanted to use that dark blue one because it just smelt so good, and this is exactly what it smells like! I feel like I can even smell the little felt tip. So that blue smell is pretty intense, but this one fades pretty nicely and softens up a lot. It becomes minty to me, exactly as the marker does. Am I crazy? This is BLUE SCENTED MARKER perfume. I really like it, but I don't think it's splurge quality.

Just got my sample ... and I like it... its an Orange Popsicle or something similar ....that hits you first yet on second smelling .... it's not that sweet or candied .. even though the vanilla in it gives it a very youthful and summery...feel thankfully,there is complexity to this scent.. a Root-beer note that seems to slide in and out perhaps that's the incense, benzoin, working its spell..... A fragrance that makes you go... hmmmmmmmm! I will wear it to bed and perhaps have a better idea come morning.

My favorite from Kilian, the only one I'm going to buy a full bottle. Great neroli fragrance, with a fruity vibe. On the base, I love the mix of resins, benzoin,oppoponax, myrhh are my favorite notes in fragrances. jul/2012 Revisiting: it's not my favorite anymore, but it's a good neroli fragrance, very sweet but still natural, I'd not buy a bottle, but it's worth a try. The only Kilian that I really want to buy a full bottle is Amber Oud.

This one starts out a tad medicinal? or sort of herbal/tangy, maybe it’s bitter-orange leaf? Initial drydown smells VERY SIMILAR to LOVE, just a touch less sweet. As it dries down more, it starts to have a citrusy (orange blossom?) smell, overlaid with sugar/incense, and becomes pretty similar to Jo Malone Orange Blossom—sweeter though. JM OB is a little fresher/brighter/tangier. Still sweet but in a different way. Not as sugary-sweet.

I LOVE this perfume so much!! It is a true orange blossom scent, like straight from the blooming tree! A smell I have been searching and obsessing over for years. Well I have now found it thanks to my sister, for finding me a sample. I smell the buttery opoponax too, but most of all the fresh sweet honeyed orange blossom. FB worthy, it will be perfect in Spring! oh and summer too. ***Swoon***

ahhh another by kilian if your into smelling great then you know of this house this opens with such a wonderful smell and projects nicely but after a hour or two i found it to just go away but eventually it made it way back and started projecting again im not sure how i feel about this one but if you like love dont be shy then this ones a must try on to the next

Wasn't expecting to like this let alone love it. This is a very unique frag & typically I'm not a floral kind of guy but the orange flower note is off the charts! I love the added incense note mixed with the vanille and myrhh. True masterpiece. Longevity & projection is thru the roof & a definite compliment grabber! LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS SCENT!

Super sweet orange flower scent, but fresh enough not to be cloying

I don't dislike this, but it just completely disappears on me.. to the point that within half an hour it becomes nose-to-skin to be able to detect it at all. I actually do pick up the general shape of the fragrance that others describe.. just in a 'still kicking around on your clothes from yesterday' kind of way. Not worth a big bottle buy for me (for obvious reasons), but do try because it may be totally different with your chemistry, and it IS a great smell!

I also agree that Sweet Redemption's blast of orange flower reminds me of some scented product from my childhood...perhaps some sort of bath product? I'm not a fan of the smell- too bitter and harsh, like only being able to eat the rind and white pith of the orange and not being able to experience the juicy sweetness of the fruit. I feel the same way about neroli though- and I do think Sweet Redemption bears striking similarity to Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. I only had the Kilian scent on for about an hour before I had to scrub it off, but in that hour, the fragrance remained pretty much the same as when I first sprayed it- strong, bitter orange. It did start to sweeten a little, but I still could not detect any incense/resins/balsams and I think life is too short to wear stinky perfume just to see what it will do next. It does smell expensive and well-made though...I have smelled much worse offerings at Victoria's Secret and discount stores. I can't really say if it is more masculine or feminine, as I don't know which gender is usually associated with unripe, out-of-season citrus. I find Sweet Redemption to be both lacking in sweetness and desperately needing to be redeemed.

Sweet is sweet, but besides, Sweet Redemption is for me an intensely orange snake that wraps its prey and slowly strangles me. As you can guess from this description I absolutely did not like this scent. Here is a huge mountain of vanilla, and the orange flower like such a Gulliwer footed hard and slowly. Both of these ingredients form a complex overcharged, suffocating and irritating composition. In addition, vanilla is strangely sweet, sticky, or maybe just these two conditional ingredients do not match completly and just quarrel? Either way, my nose gave up. I can't use or smell it. I also feel a great resemblance to the hated Classique JPG, so if you love Classique by JPG then Sweet Redemption will satisfy you. For me it's just too monstrous dose of vanilla with orange blossom and nothing more.

I am a sucker for sweet fragrances, but this is just too much for me. I get the bitter orange flower to start - and this is the main note of the fragrance - and the strongest. The strength and power of these notes are reinforced by the headiness of the benzoin, myrrh & incense, but they don't ever overtake the orange flower. They just seem to make it stronger. I wanted to like this scent - I thought that it would be right up my alley, but this is scent is just way too much. It's much too cloying for me to be able to enjoy. This is only compounded by the fact that it's very linear.

Woah.... There are a couple of other By Kilian fragrances which I have described as sweet but this one goes waaaaaaaay beyond sweet. I find this overwhelming, too heady, too many resins and balms battling with the vanilla for supremacy. Stifling. It's just too much. On my skin, it seems to have a faintly medicinal kick. The whole thing makes me feel a little queasy, to be honest. I keep waiting for the incense to come through and make the composition a little drier, smokier, but it never does. I'm afraid this is a scrubber on me.

Wheeeeeeeew! I absolutely LOVE this house. I own many of their fragrances. I LOVE crowd crushing sillage. But this one......woof. It is SO sweet that I cannot tolerate it on my skin. It smells almost like rotting orange with my chemistry. So sad. I have a Travel kit of this if anyone might want to trade or something. I will be getting rid of this one way or another!

Like the reviewer below I also found this to be reminiscent of something from the distant past, but I can't put my finger on it. Maybe something in my parents garden growing up that resembled the orange flower, or was is that orange oil cleaning spray? It's very familiar anyway. Mostly white floral, pretty soapy and a tiny bit of resin. Nothing outstanding here.

I immediately smelled the orange flower in the opening, but it mellowed out fairly quickly when the benzoin, incense and vanilla notes took over, and laid in a murky thick puddle. My final impression of Sweet Redemption; sweet redemption? nah, sweet menthol root beer concoction? Yup. Very odd, this one's just not right for my chemistry...

Pleasant but nothing special. Considering the price, you always expect something totally unique. This scent is not.

170) Rendez-vous manqué Sweet Redemption is based on the myth of Faust by Kilian: an encounter with the devil. And to do that, the major chord of the perfume is the orange blossom. Kilian said that orange was the main theme of the perfume: the essence of bitter orange tree leaves and bergamot for the head, orange blossom, and resins for the heart and the background. The gamble is a kind of inversion among orange blossom and myrrh for a lagged effect between innocence and magnificence, to symbolize a kiss with the devil in disguise. On skin the head is not so green or so bitter as he claims. In fact, we feel the sour orange tree leaf side, and that blends so well with the orange blossom, we can only say "Oh my God!" This is beautiful but really fast feeling as soon as the orange blossom takes over. The composition becomes heavier, but not sweet either. Gently myrrh arises. The heart Kilian announced as total orange blossom with balsamic notes (with resins), mainly remained on the floral note. Its use in this fragrance is too second part! It's the side that I find the worst that has been used: the "plastic" myrrh. And here we arrive at the heart of what I feel to be the "problem", it smells like déje vu, as a visit to the Salons du Palais Royal. Thus, as usual, Kilian offers a technically perfect perfume but this whole lacks what makes the soul of creation: spontaneity. The desire to put oneself in the bottle. The speech, again, further accentuates my dismay. Poetry in Bottle is perfect, but Kilian already eyeing a lot to Lutens, so when you want to exceed the splendor of our dear Serge you must have the guts behind. This "end" is very nice, but lacks a bit of inspiration. Scholar Orange flower for niche brand cliché. Everything is coherent, perfectly mastered. For emotion I have nothing to add, I remain cold as stone (exept for the price).

OMG, this stuff is so beautiful! It stays well with me, and even when I shower the next morning, it is still with me. This juice to me is like being in heaven. This is what I would imagine heaven to be like. Interestingly enough, I don't smell any particular note, but it does come off as sweet floral, but not a distinctive one that I can identify. There is a small hint of the incense that I believe offsets the floral just enough that there is almost a reverence to it, but not like church. This scent is a wonderful example of a great mix. This one must have been hard to create. I purchased it as one of the scents in the 'Sweet Harmony' sets where you get four bottles of juice to try out in larger sample sizes. As a result, I am going to buy a FULL bottle. Even if no one smells it on me ( no one has said anything, anyhow), I can smell it on myself and have heaven following me all day. Check it out in the Sweet Harmony selection ( along with Back to Black, Taste of Heaven-definitely a man's scent, and Love). It is well worth the while at least to check it out. I bought a whole bottle of the juice!...No regrets, here! I put some in a rollon that I have, as well as the spray dispenser that came with it ( I got the refill...best bang for the buck). OK, if you are not sure what somewhat sweet does on you, do invest in a sample. It is definitely worth checking out. I teach college, and I got a big hug from one of my students today ( Dec 4 2017) . She told me I smelled like an angel would smell. Such a treat!
