Byredo

Its an absolute stunner of a scent. Minimalist, enveloping, atmospheric, sparkling, optimistic, crisp, dry and contemporary. And it tastes rather than smells.... EDIT: I've a 2nd hand bottle, and it may be earlier formulation, therefore the strength of sillage and lasting power is A+++ Unnamed fits all things Scandi as expected from Byredo. The visual of the scent: bright midwinter sun glistening through the ice flowers on a frozen window. The opening brings on the taste of fancy herbal gin & fizzy floral tonic with a stem of rosemary and a few cranberries. Its all being mixed in tall frozen glass with powdered sugar being sieved on top. And... to accompany the drink, you're handed a bowl of colourful jellybeans. Weird visual image perhaps, but the first burst of the scent is vivid: slightly acidic cocktail, dry powdered sugar and lots of ice with definitely jellybeans. I also get a whisper of eucalyptus thats mentioned below, but it could as well be transparent non-medicinal frosted balsam fir. The development is seamless- in an hour the violet is full on and the experience has turned fluffy and powdery whilst still feeling extremely clean and fresh. Now it paints a unusual taste (rather than scent) of real violet petals in sugar my friend once brought back as a treat from Vienna. This phase is for those who are addicted to Guerlain Meteorites powder pearls. It appears also like deconstructed minimalist l'Heure Bleue thats stripped from all other florals and dense base. Very pretty fresh and cool, it makes my other more seductive evening scents smell almost vulgar when applied after. The drydown is the most beautiful clean slightly musky luxurious bedroom scent: crisp 5* egyptian cotton sheets, fluffy pillows and a breakfast tray with ice cold champagne. On my skin its leaning quite feminine- I'd never think of it as masculine leaning. Its also appropriate for all seasons, although probably shines more in winter/ early spring because of iciness. Surprisingly long-lasting, easy 8 h and well projecting. This one is a bit ahead of its time, presenting violet as very contemporary. Really glad I finally snapped it up after 4 years from first sniff. Have been wearing it very frequently this winter. EDIT: I sampled Balenciaga B. Nude and Byredo is indeed very similar to this, but cooler, sharper at the start kind of icier with much better projection and longevity than Balenciaga. The violet stage is extremely similar.

Bright, sharp, dry, boozy, mossy with sweet spiced lipsticks kisses What a beautiful bright scent, not so easy to find but if you can get the chance then please test it, great year-round especially if you’re around the sunnier side of the world, a modern scent IMO unisex, leans a touch masculine, smells great on a guys body chemistry sexy, clean a touch dirty, Tickles my nose upon initial spritz, smells boozy gives me buzzed feeling if you will, must be from the gin notes which I love that lightly linger throughout, and blends well with spicy pink peppercorn, dusty floral violets, and the beautiful damp oak moss, with a light waxy syrupy balminess. If I can describe this scent It gives me an imagination young man or woman being on vacation in Mykonos fresh out of the shower, with waxed, slick combed back hair, slightly hungover, on warm windy day, dressed in a designer white T shirt, and light blue jeans, drinking a peppery gin and tonic, outside in a Greek tavern by the beach in the Mediterranean with lush greens, and flowers in the sunny wind I received a Byredo mini size pack collection, when I was in Greece for the summer, so excited this was in the collection. Meshed so well with vibe, climate, and season, felt like I wasn’t wearing anything, blended well with my surroundings that I thought the scent faded but kept getting compliments on my fragrance so was shocked that It kept on my clothes the next day, lasts 8 hrs + with moderate silage and projection. After my holiday I finally got a hold of a large size bottle but fast forward into 2 weeks of having it my mom accidentally knocks over the bottle from counter so it cracks and seeps out droplets time after time so the air would get filled with this scent throughout the hallway, kept using it frequently until it’s last drop, I usually keep my hard to find scents long term wish I still had it stored away for occasional use but oh well! I’ve dropped bottles in the past but this one cracked so please be aware the glass on these bottles may possibly be fragile

I live in a bustling/crowded city...Whenever I wear this fragrance people pass me by and tell me how AMAZING & unique I smell...and keep sniffing me! They go so far as to ASK me the EXACT name of the fragrance & brand...to be honest I was ALWAYS hesitant to give that info!! So...imagine my shock at the amount of negative reviews this scent has garnered here on fragrantica. Maybe it's a personal preference? or how it drys down against skin pH? ...Well, in my personal opinion this scent is absolutely scrumptious on my skin: On my skin: - On first spray I get a strong burst of pink pepper with the gin, but it's REFRESHING & not overbearing - 3-5 minutes pass the delicious, powdery violet emerges amidst the pepper (but the pepper doesn't disappear) - Time goes on...the oakmoss & fir are very light but the gin,pepper,violet are still the primary scents on my skin. It's feminine, masculine... spicy sweet woodsy floral. It's naughty and nice, but in a classy way. Also I absolutely HATE synthetic scents...despise them. But this is the most AUTHENTIC, best smelling pepper scent I've encountered. AND it's probably one of the FEW pepper scents without citrus notes, which I'm eternally grateful for!!! I just wish it wasn't so EXPENSIVE! haha

Violets, gin, balsam, pink pepper and Byredo airiness. I’m so glad this is available for purchase again, I needed the big bottle, and hooray for the internet, I found it at a discount. Byredo Unnamed is the best of all of the brand’s popular top sellers. Fir balsam from Gypsy Water, violet base from Mojave Ghost, the clean, cool-girl feel of Bal D’Afrique. A fantastic signature scent for a laid-back, soft, girly girl such as myself. A burst of gin (but not alcohol) on the top, a pine forest spritz, the green vibes, sweet soft musk and violets. It’s got great longevity, especially for a perfume with a light feel. Unnamed is casual but special. Perhaps not unique in the niche world, but certainly it’s different from what’s trending in designer land. The price on this one is scary, so you may not need Unnamed if you have the others. Although, if you’re only going to have only one Byredo.... I think this would be my choice.

Testing my sample; super refreshing pink pepper and rosemary infused gin, becomes a powdery violet and orris that feels cool and clean, becomes aromatherapeutic with what smells like eucalyptus? It might be the balsam fir & oakmoss interacting with my skin chemistry to give that off, but overall, it feels cool and clean. Overall a love for me. Doesn't go above arms' length, but it's been a little over 4 hrs and my sample is there on my arm surprisingly enough. Perfectly suited for warm weather, very unisex. I think this is one of those scents that require sampling before purchase given the myriad of reviews.

I’ve been avoiding violet since 2013, i was sure it will never be a tolerable note for me, most of them are too sweet, too powdery and clothing, but i do like it here quite a lot. This feels like a cold and a bit herbal fresh violet scent that is not powdery, and i am suprised how much i like it. It feels a bit dual in a way that it gives a nature vibe, like cold winter forest with lots if violets, but also very clean and modern like an empty new building. It is giving also a fresh start vibe, and i find it very fitting exactly now, for New Years Eve and for the start of the fresh New Year.

I could smell this forever... This fragrance is zen garden for my nose. And violets: heaven! Pine gin is delicious opening, with spicy aroma of pink pepper. A bit harsh at first, but in piquant way. I am pleased about violets which are solid: gentle, but autentic. Its aroma goes very well with orris. Simple flowery note: minimalistic and true. (So far my favorite violets have been in the Carthusia "Forget Me Not". I will have to reconsider, maybe.:-) ) Because of oakmoss all scent has earthy, nature-like base. Reminds me rain in the woods a bit. This Byredo is poetic.

I remember choosing between Mojave Ghost, Gypsy Water and Unnamed. All of them share the same lightness and spiritual positive energy. I ended up purchasing all Three during a period of time, but I have to admit that Unnamed is the best of these Three. Unnamed /No name is light, with tuned violet leaf (I can feel the calmness of the lavender color), pink pepper (again, with soft pink color) and breezable Accords. I might use this one for an interview. I highly recommend to sample it, since Byredo is re-releasing this scent in 2020.

This fragrance reminds me of a grown up “refined” version of Tommy Girl meshed with Balenciaga B. If Y2K was your favorite era then this is for you. Unnamed is more sophisticated and longer lasting than Tommy Girl; it's also more intense than Balenciaga B. It’s unisex in a sort of a sporty rich type of way. Brittany Foster from “The Incrowd” movie. Rich, perfect snobby face, glossy lips, tennis player, silver Mercedes coupe, perfect classic American country club attire.

Are there multiple versions of no name? Because I just cannot understand the negative reviews. I absolutely love this scent. It is so different from any other scent that I own. It is fresh, it is peppery, there’s a violet flower note too and every once in a while I smell a little bit of fir tree. Every time I smell it on myself I think “wow this smells so good.” So, it’s a win for me and bought a bottle and I love to wear it!

Byredo Unnamed was my signature fragrance for many years when I became interested in perfumerie. It was the first one that i found intriguing enough and pleasurable enough and flexible enough to become part of my day to day. I adore this scent. It’s delicious. Refreshing. Performs beautifully on my skin. Byredos contemporary, simpler, accord-focuse shines here & I’ll forever appreciate this sweet, fresh, sparkly juice.

I love the house of Byredo. Here is another all-around great unisex fragrance that’s quite addicting. It’s more of a freshie, with a woody quality that also somehow pulls slightly fruity on my skin...like a tart raspberry? The gin definitely shines and is pleasant and refreshing. Moderate longevity and was previously more intimate in projection, however, after a couple months, it’s gotten much better.

Well, this has certainly garnered negative reviews! I don't wear it myself, but my fiancée does. It smells amazing on her, like a very well-crafted gin and tonic with a powdery iris undertone. It does last all day, too. I think, if one had to compare it to something else, this is like a drier Juniper Sling - cedar and orris instead of brown sugar as a base.

After testing every current BYREDO scent available (well, those that I don’t already own!) at the Copenhagen airport, Byredo “no name”’or “unnamed” was, ultimately, the scent that wowed me the most. A comforting, wearable and addictive unisex fragrance that is both highly wearable and also quite avant garde - like no other scent out there.

The opening is a very juicy, addicting violet. I know it’s not listed in the notes, but I definitely smell a bit more fruit than what’s described. Dries down really beautiful, it’s quite woody and soft. If you like Mojave Ghost, this is definitely worth trying— I think the longevity makes it FBW, and is impressive for a Byredo fragrance.

I adore this scent—it’s perfect for me. The sweet and sour spices, with pepper and pine, are addictive, and it lingers beautifully. Fragrances are so personal, and while I don’t get many comments, the way it makes me feel is what matters. That first spray was truly magical.

I love this. This does remind me of the lamentably discontinued B by Balenciaga which I had and could never re-purchase, so I’m pretty content that I found this.

Finally a scent made for my weird skintype, and all I get is a warm, cosy Orrisroot. Love it. On me a skinclose scent, but there for many hours.

love it - there's an odd note i can't place... does orris root smell like slightly under-ripe banana peel (not banana, but the peel)?

Be Extra is my favorite scent of the Be Delicious line so far...It’s light and sweet. Wish it lasted longer on my skin though 😊

I LOVE this, I just wished it longer than an hour on me.

The opening of this unnamed fragrance from Byredo is a hazy orris accord on my skin. The orris is not excessively powdery, more like between creamy and powdery. Supported by a woody undertone, the orris doesn't make me think of cosmetic powder, but more like a blurry focus and a bit more masculine than the usual feminine connotation as well. Gradually, the pink pepper, which feels more focused and less aggressive than black ones, along with the woody metallic juniper and herbal spicy/peppery violet leaves, cut through the orris cream from within. The overall effect is like cut a tofu made of orris with a knife of pink pepper. Needless to say, I find this contrast in texture intriguing, and I enjoy it quite a bit. After about 20 minutes, the sweet violet with a cedar-like woodiness becomes the primary focus, and completely dominates the fragrance after about an hour. This combination sometimes smells like Toulouse violet bonbon, but mostly, it strikes me as something very close to the main accord in Serge Lutens Bois de Violette, albeit with a lack of spice, much sweeter, a more noticeable molasses-like texture, and a less fluid blending. Afterwards, the fragrance barely goes through any major change. At one point, around 4 hours after sprayed, the woody aspect becomes more apparent, even turns the fragrance into a primarily sweet woody one. But it soon gets calmed down by the violet, and the far dry down thereafter is a sweet musky violet, again, not dissimilar to the dry down of Bois de Violette, and that of Keiko Mecheri Génie des Bois as well. The silage is moderate to soft, and the longevity is around 9 hours. I enjoy the abstract yet vividly textural opening on my skin, but the dry down leaves me disappointed. I adore the two aforementioned woody violet fragrances, but Byredo's approach feels too similar in my opinion. The blending is also less refined, resulting in a much sweeter and more gooey scent. I would recommend it to those who enjoy a sweet woody violet fragrance, but I wouldn't say it's among the most original or the most elaborated.

I like this! Emphatic like, though not a love. There's nothing offensive about this (other than maybe the price), but at the same time I don't know that it's a crowd-pleaser. Hits with a punch of fir and the gin accord, which is almost a little sour, somewhat like a lime. I see why people say that they're not smelling the gin; I'm not sure the gin accord is all that gin-like, though there's something bright and crisp and fizzy that's clearly intended to be the gin. It might not be photorealistic, but it's gin-adjacent. Not fruity, per se, more like an aguafresca, watered-down fruit. The violet and orris are pillowy and soft, but the fruit and pepper notes keep this scent alive and kicking. The fir and oakmoss give it a little zing at the end like a sassy caboose. The very, very end of the dry down is a bit fabric softener on skin, though it's pretty faint as it's at the end of the wear. On clothes it stays pretty punchy. Overall, I would call this a 7.5/10, almost an 8. I don't need a bottle, but I'd be happy if someone gave one to me or if I had the opportunity to get a decently-priced decant.

At first spray, it was magic. Strangely I get lavender and fruit, almost like berries. But shortly after, the orris becomes dominant, and the violet reveals itself in powdery fruity puff. Unfortunately, as is the case with most Byredo scents I've tried, it settles down within minutes to a nondescript and all but undetectable generic fresh scent before disappearing completely. It's as if this is a house of all top notes, including their longevity. The artistry SHOULD be there, but they just don't last. So many Byredo fragrances excited me at first sniff and then left me colder with subsequent sniffs. I still love Seven Veils, though, and that one DOES last. Too bad I'm not finding anything else from here.

The orris in this is very good but the gin isn't present enough imo. When compared to other gin scents like Penhaligon's Duke this falls short. But if you don't look at it's merit based on that, it's pretty good. I thought I'd be able to try this in the high heat but there's something sweet in the base that comes out. It reminds me faintly of cotton candy, which is usually a deal breaker for me because I hate perfumes that have a strong cotton candy note. It's sweet note is not nearly as gross as those, but it's there and it takes it down a few notches for me. Longevity seems decent. Scent 6/10 Performance 6/10

A very powdery violent scent here. The gin remains throughout but it's subtle. Opening is uninspiring but drys down very soft and beautiful. Definitely leans feminine, nothing masculine about it. It's extremely pleasant but it reminds me a little bit of the candle section at IKEA. Although there's something very nice going on there's also a slight cheapness to it IMO. Someone else mentioned a hint if unripe banana peel which I totally agree with. You also have to bury your nose into your skin to really appreciate. Can't really smell it from more than six inches away.

I really do enjoy trying byredo fragrances and several of them have made their way into my full bottle collection. When I last made a purchase at the new shop in Leeds this was one of the samples they gave me with it to try. This does seem to share some similarities with Mojave Ghost so if you like that fragrance you’ll probably like this one. It’s a great hot weather fragrance as an alternative to sunscreen vibes as it feel and smells cool and refreshing when worn. As I have MG I’m not sure if I’d but a full bottle of this but it’s a definitely one I’d consider

I had been itching to try this perfume for ages and finally had the chance. At first, the pink pepper burst forth and took my breath away, but soon it settled into a pretty and powdery scent, perfect for a feminine touch. But truth be told, I couldn't discern any unique qualities to it - just another sweet, powdery fragrance that fails to stand out from the crowd. Perhaps if I were still in my twenties, I'd be drawn to it, but now it just doesn't capture my interest.

Huge thanks to the person who has pointed out that it's a clone of Balenciaga B. Yes, to me they smell almost identical except for the fact that Balenciaga is woodier and fresher whereas Byredo has this note of balsam fir which makes it deeper and sweeter. Again huge shout out to antonpan, you draw my attention to Balenciaga and since its much more affordable and more long lasting to my nose I purchased it and am extremely happy!

If you're on the fence about this one then I'll state my opinion for your consideration. The reviews saying this is a generic fruity floral are correct imo, this to me isn't a substantial fragrance at all, it's light and aromatic with what I perceive as lots of pink pepper with a sort of fruity floral base base giving off a sort of summer vibe. That said it's not bad, it just doesn't really stand out.

It is quite a unique one and there is nothing similar to it in the perfumery industry. The pepper starts loud with the powdery violet and temperature-cool-downed fir. It creates a clean and empty atmosphere. It smells nice on the test paper but not on my skin. What a pity.

Powdery (orris and violet) woody aromatic scent (fir, gin, pink pepper). Smells like a lux hotel or a wellness. I can smell a bit of Mojave Ghost and Prada Iris in it. Very relaxing. Clean. Cold.

Sparkling gin + powdery violet with a touch of pink pepper. Kinda reminds me of tamarind fruit, but in a good way. I don’t see any resemblance to Mojave Ghost.

This perfume reminds me of Wind Wood by Mancera and Acqua di Gio (a more synthetic version). I have to say I had expected something more refined from Byredo. A more well rounded scent. I think it is more masculine than unisex.

This literally smells like god is a woman by ariana grande dried down. Very simple and minimalist, slightly powdery, woody (and to me) green. Not my cup of tea but not bad!

Is there more then one "unnamed" Byredo!? I get a granny smith apple BOMB with some light florals and the barest hint of sweet woods. Slightly green but not astringent. It opens strong but quickly fades into the kind of obscurity in the scentscape that a fruity-floral hand soap would have after about 20 minites post-hand-wash. Frankly: this is a let down. Strangely though for being a fruity-floral dominant fragrance, it does indeed reek of CH for men-the reformulation. I sprayed both on after I figured that out and yeah they are pretty interchangable and with about the same performance on my skin...maybe the CH men performs a little better. Back to the drawing board Byredo. Scent: 5/10 it's pleasant but forgettable and quiet. In this price range I expect more. Projection: 2/10 barely any after the first 20-30 minutes and after an hour, Nobody near me could detect it. Sillage: 1/10 for the first 20-30 minutes. I'm disappointed Byredo. Longevity: 5/10 it does last as a skin scent for a little while but that isn't performance to me, if I or anyone else has to be committing impromptu cannibalism in order to smell it. Would I buy a bottle? Not a chance. If someone gave it to me, I would feel awful but would quietly try to exchange it for a different Byredo after some time had passed.

What does this smell like? I get gourmand sweet smelling molecules, berries, fruits, candy, violet...feminine facets. But hey, I do not get the advertised gin smell. I even opened a bottle of gin to compare how that smells on skin, zero resemblance.... gin is angelica, cassia, coriander, grapefruit, iris, cinnamon, juniper.... none of it present here. Obviously, “no name” on this one is a good advertising of a mysterious smell.

Metallic, slightly musky floral. Violet seems about right. Maybe gin and pink pepper; more so in the dry down. Orris root is in the mix. A unisex, feminine, spring time smell. Performance and longevity are nice but this is some screechy stuff. The metallic aspect mellowed in the drydown a little but I don't care for this one at all.

This fragrance is enormously hyped by the Influencer community and largely fails to live up to expectations. For me, this is a rather boring fragrance. The opening is sweetly metallic and the dry down creamily uninspiring. This fragrance is overpriced, overhyped and I am not overjoyed.

Generic fruity moldy flowers. Definitely a scrubber. Fake synthetic artificial nonsense. Not worth $20 a bottle. All the thumbs down reviews are deserved. Pure garbage.

A 100% clone of B. Balenciaga. A fruity aromatic with some violet leaves at the top. A nice and pleasant scent, but we already have Balenciaga for 3 times cheaper.

Awfully generic fruity smell. For 10$, but for 100$ is a crime. Shame for Byredo for its latest releases. It really doesn't deserve a name as it is bad.

Not Woody, Not Powdery, Not Floral. I have no idea what this is .. Moldy, Dead Flowers? Yes.

Yes, this is incredibly similar to B. Balenciaga and I feel is a suitable replacement, though from my understanding this is was a limited edition release but is a bit easier to find compared to B? Difference between the two is that this has that gin note at the forefront, which makes this a cool / cold fragrance, whereas B. is warm, musky, and leans more feminine. There is also this icy sharpness to it due to the gin note, whereas B. is more smoothed over. Interestingly enough, that gin note begins to turn lightly sweet as the scent dries down. The scent profile of this (as well as that of B's) is fresh, green, slightly powdery, and woodsy. This has the same scent profile as Debaser, Parisian Musc, and Guerlain Promenade des Anglais, so if these types of fresh and green scents are what you gravitate towards, then definitely check this out. While this scent profile isn't the most unique, I feel that gin note is what makes this stand out. I'm still unsure of how I feel about this. I immediately discounted this since I don't usually do boozy or masculine-leaning scents, but is definitely an intriguing one.

I don't think I can add much more than Stella Diver Flynn has in their review. I am also not as good with words! So this is quite an interesting fragrance. I actually think a lot of effort went into making it and you smell the layers evolve until eventually settling into a more masculine than feminine cologne with orris root for days. After an initial blast of orris root it started to lean toward more of a powdery floral but alas it quickly returns to a musky oakmossy scent. I have to admit it is actually quite intriguing and unique. I would love to smell this on a man. I like the dusty notes as well. Had it leant more towards the violet I would probably purchase a bottle but it is just too masculine for me I think. Essentially it is a soft oakmoss and I can imagine would have a lot of people asking what you are wearing. A great one to get for the man in your life or even wear it yourself, why not. Ps: this in no way shape or form smells of rotten food.

Wow, some of the reviews for this are quite harsh. I actually don’t mind this. The gin note is quite pronounced when it first goes on – it’s not a cheap nasty gin though, but a fancy one, infused with herbs and something else that I can’t put my finger on. Once that settles, the pepper shows through, as does the balsam, which gives this a lovely fresh feel. And after a little while, the violet peeps out – very soft, but noticeable. For a parfum, however, the longevity is not great – this only lasted a couple of hours on my skin. Still, I’m glad I got to try it. For me, this is one I’d put on after a shower at the end of the day, when I’m puttering around at home and want to smell something nice, but won’t be bothered by it not lasting. It’s pleasant, but it’s not one I’d rush out to buy, and considering the hefty price tag, I definitely recommend trying it before you commit to a full bottle.

Like several Byredo fragrances, this is clean, minimalistic and abstract. I think it goes for a certain type of luxury and elegance. It reminds me of entering an art gallery in Monaco, where art pieces from iconic artists are sold for 25 millions, the interior is off white, deliberately cold in temperature and energy, there’s an underlying silence that allows you to get “the vibe” from each painting. The agent, obviously good looking, well educated comes along and have a small chat about art, also to see if you can actually afford anything there. He, in that art gallery, would wear Byredo EdP. A scent that is so clean that may remind you of the dentist visit. Abstract and confident that you take a moment to figure out if you find it confidently cool or rather arrogant. It’s minimally sweet, has a bit of plastic-y cucumber note, and obviously cold powdery violet. I very much like this!

I bought a sample of this back in 2020 and right when I sprayed it....I immediately knew it smelled familiar. This was the first Byredo scent I've ever tried so I was shocked to recognize it. If you ever want to try it for cheap, I recommend smelling Neutrogena's "Oil-Free Acne Stress Control Triple-Action Toner" because I used that daily in 2017-2018 and I immediately was brought back to that smell when I inhaled Byredo's Unnamed. Which makes sense because I always felt that toner had a light alcohol smell and this has Gin notes in it. Overall the perfume is very aquatic and refreshing to me. Like enjoying a refreshing gin & tonic in a bar made from reclaimed wood on the weekend.

I adore this scent. For me it’s perfect. The initial mix of sweetness and sour spices pepper and pine. It stays with me for a long time and I love taking quick smells of my shirt for a little rush of the deliciousness Scents are so subjective and personal that judging based on architecture of ingredients neglects the most important piece: how I feel when i smell it and wear it. I really do wonder if anyone else likes it or can smell it, I haven’t gotten but one or two comments after a hug. I asked a close friend one time if he liked it and it brought about a kind of deep confusion. The first spray of this was a truly wonderful discovery.
