Heliotropia

Please don't be put off by the difference between the name and the actual scent. This is a wonderful perfume... Yes my nose fails to distinguish the heliotrope, it may be there to add the sweetness to the jasmine. Wearing this, i get the picture of a jasmine sweet black tea, which is very refined. Jasmine and incense are the main player for me, not the heliotrope. Hence, for me this perfume open up sweet from the jasmine, and it's getting sweeter for a while, i think this is where the heliotrope surfacing, and after 2 hours the sweetness turns into spiciness which i think comes from the incense and the wood. It's silage is heavy for the first 2-3 hours phase, and then turns into a skin scent, and stay that way for the next 6 hours or so.

Wow this is spectacular! Had the privilege of trying this in Liberty London to which this fragrance is exclusive. There is something that keeps drawing me in for a sniff over and over again. The heliotrope is beautifully blended with the white florals, and the incense adds a gorgeous depth with a slight smokiness. All grounded in a woodiness. Although I can’t directly compare this to any other perfumes I’ve tried, I am reminded of Coreterno No Sleep and also strangely Cacharel Eden. Would definitely consider a purchase if I come by it in Australia!

Only one days’ wear from a sample but stayed the whole day. Unmistakeable heliotrope gave way to spices. Just how I like fragrances. Complex, deep with a tale to tell. All enveloping.

hairspray-like opening, very similar to Lanvin's Rumeur at this point. Slightly after it, I get indolic white flowers. The composition only reflects the name/heliotrope note 20-30 mins into wearing it. I still would not say it was sweet or gourmand at all. I'd describe it as 'smokey flowers'. Who's it for? I can see a vamp, femme fatale wearing it, definitely confident. Value for money: I do not see the niche price justified.

Heavy, powdery sambac jasmine and tuberose, maybe with a little lilac? Some patchouli pokes through in the drydown. Not a lot of heliotrope to my nose, though there are some powdery facets. Thick and slightly oily, and very strong. Not terrible, but not interesting, and a bit crude for the price point.

Oh wow, first review! I got a sample of this with another perfume purchase, nice fragrance complex and sweet, a definite like for me however I'm just not in love with it. It may be the heliotrope or the smoky note - it feels almost a little "old" meaning I imagine this scent on a more mature lady. Lasts a few hours (3-4) like other Byredos. I smell the Heliotrope but the jasmine packs a punch. I almost get a bread note at first? It is almost chewy. I smell oud and jasmine throughout. This is different. This last a long time and arms length sillage. I have about 10ml and that will be enough I think. I like it but don't love it....yet.

Very late 80's early 90's. Very feminine. Smells like nail varnish crossed with hairspray.

This is Alien by Mugler. You cannot change my mind. They smell 90% the same.
