La Tulipe

Mine is a shameless result of too much time spent in the tax-free part of the airport. Mind you, in the middle of winter, just before Christmas. But who cares if you find your favourite flower, with its meaty leaves, velvety petals, golden heart and slightly sour smell of first spring days, asking to be taken home? I did as ordered. And waited for a few months, until it was perfect time to wear La Tulipe. A beauty. Excellent creation by Byredo considering that tulips are the epitomes of spring, yet there are only a few varieties that have fragrant blossoms. Usually its everything else that smells fresh and peppery- bulbs, leaves, stems... La Tulipe captures all of it, plus lasts and projects well. Intoxicating dewy, fresh and feminine. Incredibly authentic-smelling, but not exactly a soliflore- you can also smell hyacinth, freesia and lilac in the background. But it has linear development, which for this particular scent is a huge plus in my book. A must for all the tulip-and spring-flower lovers and one of my favourite Byredos. EDIT June 2021: Got the La Tulipe small perfumed oil to go with the scent, and if used decent amount of oil under the perfume, it easily doubles the performance, projects really well like this too. My guess is that Byredo oils are there to extend the longevity and projection, works well, but a bit cheeky considering the total price.

As far as I know, tulips don’t have a scent, so I can’t say: “yes, this is undeniably a tulip.” But what I can say is: “this fragrance is, in every way, a magnificent floral scent (mostly freesia).” It’s both natural and inherently clean (and this cleanliness has nothing to do with aldehydes). At the same time, it’s green. And the greenness here is also quite clean. Perfect for spring and summer, especially when there’s a breeze. If you have this scent in your hair as the wind blows, the feeling it gives is just beautiful. It’s suitable for being elegant and chic, for daily wear, for any moment. Since the day I got the small bottle, I’ve used it up at an incredible pace and have come to the conclusion that it’s full bottle worthy. If the day comes when I grow tired of all perfumes and say, “I just want to smell simple, clean, and pleasant” this would be one of the essentials in my little collection.

I've been very dissapointed with Byredo fragrances before as they are expensive and always lack something to be worth the price tag, but La Tulipe has earned her way in my wishlist. When I first applied it, I feared that it was to airy, too gentle, but it was marvelously beautiful. It opened crispy green with gentle and feminine freesia, it felt a bit like cold spring morning with wet grass, flowers all around and it smells just lovely. The heart part and the drydown is very similiar - sweet flowers with just tiny bits of vetyver. The sillage is not great, it stays close to skin, but is very noticable when you let someone close enough, the scent is made to be this way as it is very inviting, sweet and comforting. The longevity is okay for me, it lasts for 5-6 hours and even if the price tag would ask for a longer lasting time, I find it to be okay. A must try for those who love feminine florals.

This one was a pleasant surprise! I actually wanted to test Rose of No Man's Land but the bottle was empty, so I sniffed around what else the store had (not a Byredo boutique unfortunately so selection was limited), liked this and gave it a spritz. Didn't know anything about it other than, obviously, tulip, and going in blind I interpreted this as citrusy, floral and clean, almost aldehyde-like but not quite. More "clean linens" than "soap". This smells how I wanted/expected Bal d'Afrique to smell! This is a LOVE, but I won't be running out to buy it as I already have Sundazed and while they're very different perfumes they sort of fill the same role as a citrussy uplifting spring/summer scent. I like Sundazed a lot more, but I wouldn't be surprised if I grow tired of it by the time I finish the bottle, so I anticipate myself hopping over to this one for a change of pace. :)

This is so lovely. I'm imagining a beautiful spring meadow on a bright sunny day. This is an addictive fresh floral. I had just sampled Jo Malone's English Pear & Freesia which had notes of freesia and rhubarb, but I did not like that at all. It had a musty smell that funnily I had actually attributed to both the freesia and rhubarb. La Tulipe has the freesia and rhubarb as the top notes, and now I've changed my mind on those notes. If blended well at the right amount, as was done here, you can have a beautiful and refreshing fragrance! The tulip accord really is the star of the show at the end of the day though. It shines through so gracefully without being overbearing as there's a real dewiness here. I would love to add this to my collection as a spring/entering summer fragrance. I personally have no problem wearing this to a daytime formal event too.

Oh my God is this beautiful, but so is it quickly-fading. It opens up like a sunny day off work and smells even better than I remember tulips smelling. A realistic clean tulip smell that is a tad bit sweet and then develops into a soap/cream/detergent smell, but with no harsh notes at all. A very creamy cleanliness is what I get after 10-15 minutes of this on my skin. Just amazing. However, it doesn’t last. Not even for one hour on me. Totally impractical, it would be impossible for me to use it in my day-to-day life, I’d have to constantly reapply this. Fades away so quickly, it pains me. Overall: 1000 for the scent and -30 for the longevity. The projection is very quiet too. If it were to last for at least 2 hours, I would recommend it, otherwise - I suggest sampling it and maybe just enjoy it from afar.

Beautiful, beautiful, beautiful! I ordered samples of this and Delina online, and I’m now wearing them on opposite wrists. Wow. This knock’s the socks of Delina! This is a very realistic flower scent. It doesn’t exactly smell like Tulips, but more of a bouquet of different flowers. Not sharp, but soft, clean and creamy. I don’t think it’s grandma-like at all, because grandma smells are more sharp and strong, in my opinion. To me a grandma-perfume is Chanel number 5, Boucheron and so on, because that was what the grannies in the eighties used to wear and reek of. I still remember the feeling of being choked by their perfumes as a child. I’m already in love with Byredos Lil Fleur and Rose of no man’s land so I have to say I’m very impressed by this perfume house! ❤️

I've been using a sample of this lovely fragrance for a while now, and I love it. It's very interesting, and long lasting, and the character of the scent changes very much during the day when I wear it. The opening is fresh, clean and green, a lot of rhubarb and some floral notes (I suppose it's the freesia, tulip and cyclamen, but to me it mostly smells green and generally floral). The dry down is slightly woody with some almost musky undertones, even if musk isn't listed as a note. On my skin it just turns out that way, and it's very pleasant. Over all I really like this fragrance, and I'll buy a full bottle as soon as I can afford to do so. It stays somewhat close to the skin, and on me it is very long lasting, I'm talking about 8h +.

I asked the shop assistant to spray it on a paper strip on Saturday and on Monday it's still there :-) I see it at Notino with 10% off as Valentine's discount and I'm seriously considering getting 50 ml bottle. I haven't tested it on my skin but on paper, it's just gorgeous. I agree with other reviewers, it's clean, fresh, floral, gorgeous :-) Edit: I finally bought it, full 100 ml bottle and it's a fantastic floral scent, soft but not weak, I'm getting lots of compliments. To my nose, the initial spray is just gorgeous, then later on some green notes pop up that make it a bit harsh but I don't mind. It's not a monster, the lasting power is about 5 - 6 hrs but on clothes, it stays for days. It's a definite love.

If the top notes would stay the whole day and project like the first hour, I wouldn't need any other perfume. Okay, who am I kidding? Trying out different scents is just too much fun! But! This is such a lovely and imho unique floral perfume, which is difficult to achieve, since florals are such a popular scent profile. It is the painting of a tulip. At least the tulips I know do not smell like this. And still... when you smell it, you picture tulips in full bloom with little rain dropplets on them. But my clothes smell of unremarkable soapy perfume when I take them off in the evening. After 5 years I used over half a bottle and if finances allow it, I'll never be without it

Spring has sprung. You are heading to the garden in the middle of the season when flowers have fully bloomed. La tulipe is spring in a bottle. You get a full blast of white flowers. The headiness of gardenias perhaps, but not listed? Freesia brings some softness to the scent but tulips are undoubtedly the star of the show. Unlike most florals, this one smells incredibly natural and is simply a marvelous and glamorous fragrance. Genderless by nature. It’s for the gentlemen who look forward to the spring to offer flowers to their beloved. It’s for the ladies who embrace the season, the florist, and the radiant color of flowers.

right, this was a blind buy for me. I am a baby florist and am constantly chasing that scent of walking into a flower shop. and this delivered. it is a deeply fresh scent, but I can totally see the hint of woodsy, soft spicy notes. they do fade and leaves you with a gorgeous, clean smelling fragrance. I'd say it is more fresh than it is floral, at least on me. I have gotten so many compliments on it since I've started wearing it. sillage is moderate. it can last up to an entire day if you spray it on clothes. it fades from my skin pretty quickly (which isn't usually the case with my other byredo perfumes) which is a shame.

Laundry-clean, office-friendly, green and floral, slightly sweet, not bitter/watery, but not too sweet either, (not a gourmand situation at all). Something from the universe of Cow by Zoologist, Blanche by Byredo, Drop d`Issey by Issey Miyake (yes, this is not lilac but the same ~floral laundry~ profile). As mentioned by others not sure what kind of "soft spices" are mentioned, coz it`s a clean green scent with no spices whatsoever. Safe, floral, laundry-like, green, mostly linear, quite minimalistic. I either love or hate Byredo`s perfumes but this one is really a crowd pleaser. I cannot find any faults with this.

I've always adored Tulips, including their scent. This lives up to a scent I continue to love via this overpriced Byredo item. I purchased a perfume oil with this scent, and received quite a few compliments upon my initial wearing, though not so the Byredo scent. This could be an indication of my impression that it is overpriced, unfortinately. But it IS lovely! To my nose, this scent is like a bed of tulip petals I could just fall into and dream during a sunny day, peeking in through blinds with a breeze lightly blowing over you topped by only a percale sheet.... A wonderful summery beauty of a scent.

Whenever I wear this people around me ask "where does this smell come from?". A devil in disguise. It's not overwhelmingly sexy, nor mysterious, nor dangerous, nor even classy, yet it attracts people close to you like a magnet. It's fresh but not at all sporty. It's both warm and breezy and inoccent without being boring. If it were a woman she would have very long light brown hair, walking barefoot in a field of tulips in the first morning hours. If you like complex perfumes you will hate this. If you like your perfumes bold, stay away. This is linear, straitforward, simple and it smells heavenly

This perfume is an instatnt transfer to the flowery shop. Pure, innocent, gentle. The composition smells very natural and captivating - as the flowers we know. Fresia is dominant but I appriciate a green notes. Rhuburb is fruity and sour a little so the fragrance is not too sweet or cloying. It is not too soapy or powdery either: more like an essence of water drops on blooms... I really like it. This perfume has a noble standard and doesn't lack an esprit. It is modest in its simplicity but the scent is truely charming. Pity about longevity and sillage. Neither is barely moderate.

Clean, fresh, mildly sweet and very watery florals. IF you love soapy, fresh florals YOU HAVE TO GIVE THIS ONE A TRY. I regret not trying out this fragrance earlier. It's so easy on the nose. My only issue with it is that I don't think it'll last long on my skin. Might have to spray every 2-3 hours . Edit: Dry down gives off clean white florals on my skin-- the kind you'd faintly sniff on creamy fragrant lotions. Still, not bad though. It's clean, comforting, mild, pleasant, and familiar. A good addition for those who love their soapy florals stash.

Smells like a realistic floral, like when you walk into a flower shop. The scent is SO beautiful, my only trouble is the performance - disappears after 4 hours on my skin. It ́s not very unique IMO so I don ́t think it ́s worth the money. I don ́t normally re-apply during the day but this one needs it. I don ́t smell the rhubarb or the woody notes. For me, the dry down leans to musk, bergamot and green, like clean warm sheets in a flower garden heated by the sun. I ́m surprised that bergamot or citrus is not listed.

Love this. Smells exactly like I remember the field of tulips near my grandmas house. Very very sweet, floral. A feel good fragrance. I don’t think It’s that long lasting and silage is intimate but I still love it. When I smell this I see myself as a little child wearing a pretty floral dress and running though the fields of tulips near my grandmas house. The air is crisp. It’s almost sundown during early summer days so the air is slowly getting colder. I love this feeling. I get shivers from it in a good way.

I love this one. It's feminine, fresh, clean and very COZY. Not a warm perfume but it makes you feel some type of way. Very comforting I would say. If you like BLANCHE but you find it too powdery, try this one. This is Blanche's BABY sis. She's sweet and just as beautiful. It smells like, fresh strawberries, candied tulips, aloe juice and "just cut" fresh WOOD. An everyday, signature worthy, type of perfume. Perfect for cold weather, day to night. BISOUS

I love it! The Tulip scent is fresh, elegant and extremely pleasant. Tulips sway in the gentle breeze, and the clear night dew reflects on the petals, recalling memories of romantic suburbs. It's like I'm lying on a hill of Tulip flowers with green grass in the Netherlands, so peaceful. If you are a luxury and elegant girl, definitely don't miss this wonderful fragrance. The scent ups my mood every morning. Rating: 9/10, my most favorite elegant perfume

This is a clean girl scent for the girls who don’t really think they are into clean girl scents (like me) it’s less soapy and more just a clean floral with a little sweetness. I don’t have issues with longevity.. just spray some on your clothes as well as your skin and you’re good to go for the next few hours!! The dry down on clothing is what made me fall in love with this scent, it dries down to an airy ethereal beauty that exudes femininity. Love it.

You know that fresh floral smell of springtime that you wish would last all year? This is it, in a bottle. Obviously tulips don't really have a scent, but this fragrance captures the fresh floral and watery green stem. This is not a powdery fragrance, but watery and wet without being aquatic. I also get the feel of dark, fresh, spring earth with first flowers pushing through. I absolutely adore this fragrance. It's a time, a moment, a feeling.

The most beautiful, dainty, photorealistic tulip scent ever!! Oh my goodness, it's just precious! If tulips are dear to your heart, as they are to many people all over the world, you will absolutely adore this fragrance. Fresh, clean, tidy, straightforward floral. If you don't love a powdery perfume, then you may want to sample this first. Otherwise, I think it's a totally safe blind buy. Moderate performance all around. LOVE!! Rating: 8/10

This is one of those scents where I was surprised how much I adored it. I walked in thinking I was going to pick up Blanche, and walked out with a bottle of this. Because oh my God. What a perfect floral. This is exactly like sticking your nose in a bouquet of tulips. It’s incredibly dreamy, dewy, and wonderfully creamy and wearable. The embodiment of springtime. I imagine this is what a nymph would smell like. Shes just perfect.

It’s ok. It’s nice but doesn’t last and it doesn’t project . It’s a pretty scent tho. I bought the three 10ml travel size sprays and it’s more than enough. I only wear this in Spring and Summer. The lady at the supermarket checkout asked me what perfume I’m wearing. I said why? She said so she can be sure never to buy this nasty smelling thing . No accounting for taste. I told her don’t worry, you’ll never be able to afford it.

This is the kind of fragrance I like for everyday use. It's delicate, feminine and just so pretty in an innocent way. I get a slight cherry blossom note and a creamy clean lotion like vibe. Makes me imagine a bubble bath on a sunny warm summer day with the window open and sweet summer air wafting in. Sooo relaxing. It also immediately reminded me of Philosophy, Baby grace! Not exact but definitely similarities. I love it.

I just got a sample of this, and now I really want to buy the full bottle. It smells so feminine and fresh. At first, it hits you with this burst of floral—kind of like tulips—but there’s also a sweetness to it, something a little gourmand that I can’t quite put my finger on. I don’t usually go for floral scents, but this one feels just right. It smells amazing.

Very rarely to find perfume with the tulip smell.I was search a lot of years,But they are only few in world.Very clean fresh and then comes realistic Tulip.Its so feminine its so gentle so nice and soft.Its smells like spring,like fresh air with tulip scent.Love it.longevity its 5 hours maximum but i can forgive it for a wonderful smell.10/10

This has that same watery green dew drop note (that I think some people pick up as cucumber) as Jo Malone's Wild Bluebell and about the same longevity (which is to say not much). It's slightly more floral, slightly less fruity, and overall a refreshing dewy sweet option that's just... nice. Gentle, quiet, feminine, springy, and fleeting.

The initial spray is similar to Jo Malone’s Wild bluebell without the persimmon/melon scent while the dry down of this on my skin is kinda similar to Guerlain Insolence edt without being too much powdery or lipsticky. I like this a lot better than Insolence and wild bluebell this has a much youthful clean vibe than the two others scent

Love this perfume! Feminine, floral and green. Smells like the whole tulip from the stem to the petals in the nicest way and has a uniqueness to it. It doesn’t have much lasting power but stronger than other byredo scents. I could smell it on my from time to time but only faintly. Too expensive to be worth it but gorgeous smell.

Very unique smell. I have smelt a tulip once or twice in the past and it wasn't anything nice, it was kind of indolic. But in this scent the smell is different, some unknown floral. After testing it first time I was unimpressed but somehow I remembered it and many months later took out the tester again and enjoy it now.

I'm generally not a floral perfumes lover, but I love this one. A perfectly balanced concoction of floral, woodsy and green notes. t's comforting, captivating and vibrant, but it does ooze something innocent and pure. Strangely enough, my cat who stays away from me anytime I wear perfumes, doesn't mind this one at all

A super fresh, clean floral that smells better than an actual tulip. To my knowledge, tulips don't actually emit a scent. So this is an unexpected surprise. It smells like a heavily scented, floral soap. You'll want to wear this on a hot day as it smells refreshing, like you just stepped out of a shower.

This fragrance represents the moment when there is still fresh, fluffy snow but the first, spring flowers came up under the ground and bring us the first spring scents. Love that fragrance! It's clear without being soapy, it's fresh without citruses. It's clear flower scent.

My absolute favorite scent. It's just soooo pretty. Classy and feminine. It's a floral, but without having any of the overwhelming, floral sharpness. It's just very fresh and clean and soft. Definitely smells like laundry/clean linen. I will always have to repurchase it.

i normally never write reviews but this perfume is really something else. It’s my signature scent and i love it till i drop dead. it’s the most gorgeous tulip scent and it smells like a tulip, not just the flower but all the stem and leaves. it’s spring in a bottle.

This reminds me of a spring or cool summer morning in the north east where lilac bushes and tulips give hope for a beautiful partly sunny day. Perfect for spring and I’m wearing it in the summer as well. Perfect powdery floral without going mature. Love!

A cheaper dupe is Fleur de Mimosa by &otherstories!! They are so similar and they are both created by Jérôme Epinette. I love La Tulipe: it's simple, not too complex, just pure, essential and fresh. Makes me think about spring, a green field. Easy vibe!

Byredo's La Tulipe is a delicate, fresh fragrance that captures the essence of spring. Its soft floral notes make it perfect for everyday wear, evoking memories of blooming tulips in a sunlit garden. It's now added to my list of favorite scent brands.

smells like an actual bundle of flowers, stems and all. also maybe high end shampoo or something. An easy reach for spring and summer. I love it, but I’m kinda broke so after my sampy samp was up I bought the oil perfumery version and its spot on

A lovely green and floral perfume. Compared to Inflorescence by Byredo, this one is less harsh flowershop and more fresh-cut flowers. If you prefer more greens in your scent and less florals, I'd recommend that one as they are quite similar

I don’t think Tulip flowers have any smell. To my nose La Tulipe smells like fresh dewy young rose and Minosa flowers. It’s very lovely and this scent reminds me of JM Mimosa & Cardamom. They’re not the same smell but gives me similar vibe.

To the person that said this smell’s like Mustela, you’re spot on!!! This smells exactly like the Mustela baby perfume which I’ve always loved, I was looking for a dupe for years and this it!!! I love it honestly

Spray it at 8 am and still smell it at 3 pm in the afternoon. My friend told me that i smell good. My first niche fragrance and it became my signature fragrance. I love it even the price hurts me lmao.

My favorite of Byredo so far. Greenish white floral, lasting long. Makes the hot summer days a bit cooler. -- I actually have no idea what a tulip should smell like...I'll try in the next spring

The perfume that destroyed my individuality complex, a really lovely green floral. Less the smell of a bouquet of tulips and more the smell of a large, dark hedgemaze if tulips grew on hedges

I really like this fragrance. It makes me feel like I am taking a bubble bath between two pretty ladies. The tulip scent is very realistic and there is a very prominent powdery note.

Usually i dont like floral scents, but this is gorgeous. Very unoffensive, office friendly perfume. It smells like hair shampoo. Projection and longevity could be better.
