Palermo

I received Pulp and Palermo samples in a bundle of Byredo joy from Luckyscent. I have not been a huge fan of the brand as I find it to be high quality yet overpriced and underwhelming. Bar Chembur. These two turned me around. Luscious and natural - for Pulp the predominate smell from the get go is mostly fig and praline for me with a strong citrus and slight tartness of apple taking the top notes. The woods giving a creamy base - infact reminding me of a sweet wood pulp smell. In fact the opening of Pulp and Palermo are to me somewhat similar until the above sets in and Palermo clearly continues down the path (a very linear one) of a bright clean sweet citrus with some floral content. Pulp - unisex. Palermo - erring on Femine. I will buy a bottle of Palermo. Nice and refreshing for summer - killer citrus.

Wow this juice is soooo wonderful... totally blows my mind...such impressive citrus. Ok, I don't know how to start, but as a citrus-maniac it's hard to explain how excited I was when I took a sniff of this the first time.Well you know the feeling of "love at the first sight"?That's exactly what I mean.Normally citrus fragrances only use the aroma of the peel of oranges and lemons or grapefruit or yuzu...to express the juicy and sparkling trait of fruit, but Palermo does not.It's not the smell of the peel, but the pulp inside.However, the vital and mind-blowing thing is that you could almost be certain that this orange(or simply this fruit) is a sweet and mild one, without any sour or sharp taste.Simply amazing. Oh my goodness I love oranges.I love the fresh pulp of oranges. So extraordinary, so unique.

This is so well blended. I don’t experience the notes individually; I get them all together as a cohesive whole, which is a simple, uplifting freshie. This is something you could just grab and spray on a sunny summer day as you run out the door and don’t want to overthink which fragrance to wear. I find this fragrance really boosts my mood, and I could see it being used for aromatherapy in an expensive spa. Unfortunately, the poor performance make it hard to justify the steep price. I’d say this is worth a decant, but it’d need better longevity and sillage to be full bottle worthy.

loved it when purchased on vacation in Paris it faded too quickly and could not recapture the initial opening on subsequent applications didn't realize it is categorized for women as it had a masculine appeal like Blu Mediteraneo Quercia Marina had back in the day

Love this scent so much. Such a natural, aromatic, refreshing opening that fades to a petitgrain musk. Only lasted a few hours on me though :( the pain of loving citrus

Byredo Palermo is a great fresh citrus blend, tart from what seems like a mix of grapefruit, pomelo, and bergamot, and anchored by some light musky elements and rose underneath. Like Pulp, Palermo is an entry I find to be a fun, fresh take on a summer fragrance, though certainly it can be argued that Pulp is a bit more unique than Palermo. Still, Palermo may be the most agreeable Byredo fragrance I've tried to date, and while it isn't especially daring, there's merit in having such a unisex easy-to-wear fresh citrus scent in the catalog. It lacks the vetiver- and violet-laden intrigue of Bal d'Afrique and the guts of Pulp, but it serves its purpose. Still, it's a tough sell as it doesn't project much on my skin and, of course, citrus-dominant fragrances come much cheaper, particularly from a house like Atelier Cologne. 8 out of 10

As many have mentioned, Pulp and Palermo are quite similar. I stayed with Pulp in this battle, because I find Pulp more fruity. Anyhow, Palermo is a Bright citrus, not sharp, not zesty or Cologne-y. Soft and cheerful citruses. If you like Italian-type of citruses (similar to Aqua Di Parma Blue bottles range), you will definitely like this one. I ended up Selling a bottle... I Think I just fell out of love with it.

starts off very bright citrus. The citrus stays and musk comes out. I do not smell any rose. It is nice but pretty linear. Nice everyday scent. Very unisex. Business professional. Just a nice everyday kind of fragrance. I think more of a 25+ fragrance. Its nice, just not outstanding enough for me personally.

Longevity and sillage are very poor, so I wouldn’t recommend buying it—but the scent is gorgeous. An earthy citrus with hints of wet asphalt and a subtle metallic note (likely the ambrette) that makes it feel distinctly urban and elegant. If it lasted a bit longer, it would be a banger.

This has a top blast of grapefruit but the petitgrain herbal note takes over and there is no sweet citrus after that initial recognition.

Like most Byredo fragrances, this barely lasts 30minutes. The smell is very nice and fresh. Not too bitter, just right.

Simple, uplifting, quality freshie. Very well blended, nothing sticks out. Lasts 1.5 hours at most.

I get lemon and greens, rather than other citruses. The top was fantastic, the drydown not so much

Category: Citrusy, aromatic, green Notes: This is an incredibly linear scent that I’d describe as a bright, aromatic citrus. The citruses are turned incredibly green from the petitgrain and the musk & ambrette gives it a clean & aromatic undertone respectively. It does become more musky with time but the citrus & petitgrain remain the stars of the show. Vibe: Mojito. Lemon trees. Mediterranean garden. Vodka soda. White clouds on a blue sky. Handpicked flowers. Sparkling water. Produce section. Lemon vinaigrette. Spraytan. Clean eating. Iced tea. Pilates. Clean girl. Sillage: 3/10. Very, very intimate to the point where I’d call this a skin scent. Longevity: 1.5/10. Horrible longevity, this lasted about 1.5-2 hours before becoming completely undetectable. Wear: Strictly for daytime wear. Undoubtedly a spring and summer scent. This is a true unisex, neither leaning feminine nor masculine. Appropriate for any and all age demographics. Overall rating: 4.5/10. Bright, aromatic and green, this is a fresh and linear citrus perfume for the citrus lover. Personally I don’t think this leans sour or in the way of cleaning products as some citrus forward scents can, but I also think this is as generic as they come. There’s nothing here that stands out to me and even more disappointing is the sillage and longevity. Palermo is my first experience with Byredo and I have to say it leaves much to be desired. I’ve heard through the grapevine that sillage and longevity tend to be very intimate and short-lived with this brand, but I didn’t expect it to be THIS bad. While I do love citrus this is just too boring and tame for my taste and I cannot justify the frankly outrageous price tag for performance this shitty. Who would wear it?: Hailey Bieber. David Beckham.

On hot summer days, many European hotel lobbies will put out for their guests dispensers of water with slices of citrus fruits floating in them: the water retains the taste of the fruits (especially the rinds) without seeming overwhelmed by the juice, and is always quite refreshing. Byredo's Palermo reminds me very much of that water. There's no sweetness to the citruses here, thanks especially to the heavy inclusion of the petit-grain, which adds an unripened note. The musk note makes it seem even cleaner. This would be a great idea for an eau de cologne. Palermo, however, is an eau de parfum, with the attendant high price, despite the fact that it mostly stays quite close to the skin and vanishes quickly. I found this fragrance enjoyable, but no one else could smell it on me (unless we were intimate), and it's over even more quickly than far less expensive eaux de cologne (for example, in the Guerlain line). I can't see the point of buying a full bottle.

Very herbal citrus. It’s like the rind, pit, seed, flesh/pulp of various citruses and add a bit of herbs. It’s interesting. Probably best in the summer.

A lovely, bright, light citrus that's unisex to my nose. But what's the point if it's gone in an instant? Even compared to other fresh scents, this one fades so fast it barely even exists. If you buy fragrances just for the olfactory art of it alone and the five minutes of heaven you get per spray is enough for you... then go ahead and get this, it truly is lovely! But if you need your fragrances to function in the real world - as in, you'd like to smell a certain way for at least two hours or so - then this is unfortunately a skip. ETA: Gave this another try, sprayed generously. It's outrageous how weak this is. I'm sorry but I have to downgrade my rating even further because of it's appalling performance. Especially for that price!

By the name - Palermo , this could have been the perfect Italian lemon skinclose refresher for days of heavy summer. I have checked notes but can not find what makes that awful foody topnote smell. I could never go through that topnote to get something lovely. That same thing happened with sur le Nil...too bad when the top note puts you off. . Thanks Mooniq for letting me try it but this is not me - I am sorry to say this , cause its a native brand and it goes in next swap for another to try...

A very pretty fragrance that makes me think of lemon groves, sunshine and fresh air. The fragrance opens with a burst of well-rounded citrus and bergamot, which is almost tonic-like in places. The middle notes are very subtle, but I'm left with a slightly powdery musk undertone. If I could retain the beautiful citrus and floral notes (which become very faint after about 30 minutes) and diminish the powdery notes, I may have considered splurging on a bottle.

On my skin Lemon and bergamott-notes don't get along - at all.. They turn male'ish.. Citrus/lemon can be very fresh notes but on my - just very, very male'ish..This is a skinclose scent, in my opinion. På min hud blir citron och bergamott-noter inte bra, alls, de förvandlas till manliga noter. Citrusnoter kan vara otroligt fräscha men inte på mig - då blir de oftast väldigt, väldigt manliga.. tyvärr... detta är en hudnära doft förövrigt..

A total waste of time and money, and I only bought a 1ml tester. You might as well be buying scented air in a windstorm. A great perfume name wasted.

***The first notes are very citrusy, with green (pettigrain) in there a bit... The first layer reminds me of delicious citrus fruits rolling through grass... I am not a fresh citrusy dame...these tend to be more like household cleaners to my nose. I would prefer to smell this on my gent...he wears these fresh scents beautiful...although this scent is sexless. ***The heart comes through slightly leaning with a few roses...still playing with the delicious citrus and rolling around in the grass...the roses are dim... but detected...and the slightest bit of musk. This is comming off as very organic and natural...in line with the high quality Byredo fragrances. It is starting to smell more beautiful and pretty at this point...but still playful, interesting. ***The base is creating more interest... changing the mood even more...hightening the uniqueness of this duft into something I would wear on a warm sunny day... or even to work...or shopping...especially hiking. It is not kissably sexy to my nose...but Unique and worth at least tasting~

The expression of Palermo is remembered as a light footed person, having a gentle stroll on a holiday morning. A light and zesty aura walking on a cobbled stone pavement. There is a lemon garden not far from here. There is an old and beautiful small castle up on the hill, The air is mildly cold and crisp but the sun rays heat up your skin, and you got your amber shades on. People are shopping without making noise and everything has an ambient energy around it. Palermo does not disturb others, just walks-by. But It doesn't last long, and soon dies down and becomes a part of your skin so only lovers or haters can smell it, if they like you and get too close. No point trying to carry a decanter and re-spray. Best in Summer or Spring, Not because it may lasts longer (it doe not), but because it is the fragrance of the summer breeze.

The scent profile of this Citrus Aromatic itself is quite nice. The petigrain gives it a nice green aromatic undertone. The green undertone may give the citrus a slightly overripe fruit facet, and that's probably the main reason for the comparisons to Pulp. But Pulp is a much different fragrance, with a very concentrated, strong, overripe fruit melange that performs magnificently. And in my opinion is a fantastic fragrance. Palermo is a poor performer, typical of many Citrus Aromatics. Spray it liberally. But the scent profile itself is quite nice, and as a Citrus Aromatic it is overwhelmingly unisex. If anything, it leans slightly masculine as most "colognes" are Citrus Aromatics. It's funny how lazy people will categorize a fragrance's gender appropriateness simply according to the marketing.

Not that I want to blast Byredo, but I find most of their fragrances very overrated , and too expensive for what they offer...This one is for citrus lovers, I am not one of them, but I can enjoy a well constructed citrus scent...this definitely is all about citruses, nicely done, fresh yet rounded, but too light...also vaguely masculine, like citrus scents tend to be ....like most Byredo, they tend to disappear quickly, and leave a vague impression of what it could have been..the names are great, they are like titles of books..I wish the scents were more interesting, or more harmonious in their construction...they tend to arouse my interest, but turn flat too fast...with that brand, I feel I am wearing the name, more than the scent...not my style

Upon first sniff I had the same thought a few other people mentioned, “this smells similar to Pulp”, but they definitely are different. Perhaps its the petitgrain note that makes me link the two i’m not sure. This is very light skin scent. It’s green, citrusy, sweet, and a little musky. I tried Pulp early on in my niche fragrance journey and was immediately put off by it. However I do like this scent and it makes me wonder if I should give Pulp another try.

clean + light. when i first applied this i was like "oh, it's kind of like pulp." but after testing the two side by side, they're incredibly different. palermo is much lighter and has a slight, rind-like bitterness to it that i find really refreshing!! pulp is a lot softer, and sweeter with a figgy roundness. i think they're both great fragrances, but palermo actually edges out pulp for me, although i do think pulp is a little more different/interesting

Definitely citrusy, but bitter and tart, like a cocktail. You do kind of get the feel that you're smelling it on a street in Sicily. (At least, I think so--I've never been.) There's something warm and sunbaked about it, like you can smell warm cobblestone and the salt air even though you can't see the ocean. As it settles in it smells more clean and musky and soapy. Beautiful summer scent.

I'm wearing this right now. It came in a bag of samples, and *something* in that bag smelled amazing. I thought through a process of elimination that it was this, but I put it on and it's flat, vaguely sweet citrus that disappears almost immediately. It has no character; it's one-note citrus like a Body Shop grapefruit spray that I had and gave away.

I am not the kind of guy who likes cologne or citrusy perfumes. This one, however, got my attention at first spray. The citrus notes of Palermo smell like a fresh pomelo. It has a distinct smell among all kind of citrus fruits and I think it's unique and wonderful. The dry down is not very exceptional, but nevertheless I will buy a bottle.

Store Test Short Review: Sour and only slightly sweet bergamot with a hint of bitter orange, very much does smell a lot like grapefruit, but in a more unisex way. I don’t get why so many of these simpler Byredo scents get such low ratings, it’s not even that basic of a citrus and it’s very much refreshing.

To be honest, I don't see the comparisons between this and Byredo Pulp. IMO, this is a total step down and is a lot less exciting. It's pretty, wearable, and smells like a lemony version of Byredo Blanche. Definitely not worth the price; It also has pretty weak staying power.

citrus and musk, nothing more. Byredo is not a brand to go for, mediocre fragrances with patchouli, animalistic notes with either fruits or berries. Smells like an old creepy lady with a big nose with moles on it, mustache, hat and a fur.

I like Palermo better than Grapefruit Generation. Both have been discontinued. Palermo has a hint of spice that represents the rind, GG has more white floral and lasts a bit longer on skin. Expected for citrusy scents.

Stong bergamot and citrus. Very natural. It is reminiscent of salad dressing and Italian food, to me. I think because of the petitgrain. I don't understand this brand, haha. It is very pricey for simple, linear scents.

A calming funny floral citrus fragrance with a unique pepper note Maybe it is pimento skin ?? well blended and hard to dislike , like byredo does nice, but I am not sure if it fits my collection

I tried this one at Barney's in NYC and I got bergamot and grapefruit with an extremely weird, semispicy, vinegary pimento note. It may have just been the bottle but I was not a fan.

Butter citrus rind and oils, almost dry, very sharp and pleasant. Doesn't last worth a damn though.

On my skin, after 1 - 2 hours, dries down to an exact duplicate of Le Labo Ambrette 9

Citrus and musk and no longevity at all. Pleasant but not worth the price.
