Reine de Nuit 2019

The scent is nice, but not complex enough to live up to its name. The original splash definitely is a mix of blackcurrant, bulgarian rose, saffron, and maybe some smokiness but the notes dissipate after 30 min - 1 hour to the point where the rose and the saffron overpower everything else. The longevity is quite poor, I had to spray some more perfume on after 3 hours to go on with the night, so I would consider this overpriced. Also, as a sidenote, another user commented on the colour of the extract - I checked the ingredients and it contains colour additive. UPDATE: Well, the perk of having decants is you realize which fragrances you end up going back to... It might not transform me a queen of the night as I expected, but definitely into a High Priestess of the Night, which is equally as unique. About the blackcurrant, well, the original major note doesn't really disappear, but goes into the rose, makes it into a slightly syrupy, sour rose, reminescent of the sour fruit syrups my grandmother used to make with overripe garden fruit. It marries beautifully with the saffron/incense. What I'm trying to say is that I somehow need to find 250 euro in my budget to buy a bottle, hide the bill from my boyfriend, and then find more to buy a second one.

reine de nuit is dirty, spicy rose. first let me say, i love byredo. gypsy water is my everyday fragrance so for me, a special occasion/nighttime/date night scent. my boyfriend loves this one, whenever i wear it he compliments me and smells my wrists all night. i live in new england, and i’d say it’s a really beautiful fall/winter scent but i’ve also worn it on a sticky summer evening and it’s so sexy. a little goes a long way — i can still smell it on my wrists and in my hair the morning after a night out. have others done amber rose? sure. are they less expensive? maybe. but i just think there’s something really special and exquisite about this one. for price, i do wish this was in the mid-$200s vs $300s but i feel like between the longevity and it not being an everyday scent, and the compliments i get when i wear it, i’m getting my moneys worth and it’s lasted me a year+.

I've tried this several times but the price made me hesitate to get a full bottle. So I ordered two samples to get a few days' worth and finally decide. This turned out to be a very good move. The samples, which obviously have sat for a while with the juice maturing inside, now give me an entirely different performance. While the bottle in store gave me a wonderful, levitating rose, the samples are so patcouli-heavy, the rose , and beauty, is gone! I expected the complexity to fade with hours of wear, I expected the longevity to be problematic, as usual with Byredo, but this? This, I didn't expect. I wear several fragrances, so I go through bottles very slowly. This matured juice is a complete flop for me. If you wear one fragrance at a time and go through it quickly, then this is beautiful.

Another amazing fragrance from Byredo. I got this as a sample when I bought another perfume, and I’m falling head over heels in love. It’s a dark, mysterious and beautiful rose. I wouldn’t call it jammy, it’s more of a realistic garden rose scent with beautiful spicy incense, and some juicy freshness from the black currant. The Patchouli is completely in the background and not dominating at all. The rose is the queen in this court and the other notes are her loyal supporters. Longevity is good and projection is amazing. I’m currently wearing one spray on each wrist, and my husband complimented me when I walked in the room. I also smell it very well on my self for hours, which is very important to me. This is on top of my Christmas wish list 🤞🏻

Today I wanted to wear something dramatic. I'm on a dramatic-state-of-mind since I heard Madonna's latest interview on a podcast, she said that as a Leo and as an Italian she is such a dramatic personality. Reine de Nuit is a bold choice for a man to wear - and it is so sad that this pefume is axed forever. I am not sure about the way Byredo (or should I say Puig) is going to take, even the founder is long gone, night veils got reformulated and got new bottles as well - which I don't like AT ALL. Roses, roses and more roses and incense and patchouli - oh dear I'm in heaven. I feel so confident to pull this, to be a part of my aura. Farewell Reine de Nuit, I will keep my last ml of yours as a treasure.

Best way to describe this is a deep, seductive, jammy rose. It has a hint of spice to add structure without making it a spicy perfume, and there's this fresh mossy note in there which makes this a darker, nighttime scent. Similar to Frederic Malle's Portrait of a Lady or Tiziana Terenzi's Porpora but more jammy. One of my all time top ten perfumes. I got a decant at first. Then went to Saks to smell it in person and the one at Saks didn't seem that strong. It was a lighter version. Maybe it's a newer batch and needs to age to strengthen. Hopefully, Byredo didn't change the formula. Smell: 10 out of 10 Longevity: 8 out of 10 Feminine For reference, I'm female.

Byredo's Reine de Nuit is my favorite from the brand, and I'm absolutely enamored by it. The fragrance opens with a captivating blend of Black Currant and Saffron, setting a luxurious tone. A very luxurious perfume. Very similar to Dangerous Complicity by ELDO. This one has no rum or coconut which makes it warm and cozy. Very feminine in my opinion, sexy, daring and full of life. A date NIGHT type of perfume, not a first date though. Girls night out. Bougie party. Such a pretty rose, and I don't really like ROSE in perfumes. This is lovely. The big sister to Rose Of No Man's Land. I love it. The saffron in the opening really makes it sexy, the rose tones it down making it very feminine, with a patchouli powdery dry down, is so intoxicating. Don't spray on clothes, spray on your body. Trust me. BISOUS

I am heartbroken this has been discontinued, as it became my signature scent at first whiff. I've tested POAL and found Reine de Nuit just had this addictive, heady quality that made me want to huff it until I became dizzy. Gorgeous, dark, sensual, expensive. I've never bought multiple bottles of a scent, but I think I'll have to for this one. Most perfumes become skin scents on me within a couple of hours, but two sprays of this lasted all day and radiated a few feet from me well past 6 hours. If anyone is willing to sell their mostly unused bottle for a reasonable price Europe or the US, please message me.

A gorgeous, jammy rose, incense and patchouli fragrance. It's so damn good and addictive and I honestly think it's a 10/10 scent. I think it's pretty different to other Byredo fragrances I have smelt. The sad thing is the price. 250eur for a 50ml bottle is wayy too much for this, even after how much I like it. The thing is the performance is not that impressive for an extrait de parfum concentration and there are pretty similar alternatives to this. But if you have the money then go for it. I like this and Selliet most from this collection. To me this is 100% unisex.

Reminds me of Dubai in the best way. I’ve been trying to find a high end fragrance that captures my memory and times in Dubai for what feels like years. This is the closest embodiment of that. At least so far. It’s a darker, less jammy and more middle eastern version on MFK’s Oud Silk Mood (which I also adore). I think its use of patchouli and incense brings it over that edge. It transports me back to smoking hookah in the luxury hotel’s courtyard under the Arabic night sky. This fragrance is luxurious, beautiful, and captivating.

This fragrance gives “nocturnal” from the first whiff. To me, this feels like a sophisticated New York night - something at Lincoln Center, followed by cocktails at a very dark, sexy bar or lounge; somewhere on the Upper West Side or Upper East Side...not a Lower Manhattan vibe. This may lean a little on the feminine side, but if you’re a man that can pull it off, go for it - it REALLY works if you’re a man with the confidence and particular style to wear this. 8/10.

Rose has become one of my favorite notes in fragrance. And this rose is gorgeous. Jammy but not too sweet, dark and earthy, spicy and exotic. It smells similar to POAL but it’s sweeter more delicious, where Portrait is bolder. I’ve never gotten Byredo as a house. Overpriced and underperforming for sure. But this one performs well. Lasts and gets compliments and gets noticed. Still too expensive to buy out right so I bought mine second hand, and I’m so glad I did

Gorgeous scent - reviews here do it justice so I’m not going to repeat. Sweet somewhat dark syrupy and balsamic. Despite extrait build performs more like an EDP. Almost a plum like feel also. Initio Atomic Rose, Carner Barcelona Rose and Dragon and BDK Tabac Rose do it better for less whilst not exactly the same yet not far off. Not going to convert to a FB but if you like Rose this should be on your shortlist.

Reine de Nuit by Byredo got out a broom and swept me away from the first sniff. I’m a man and I love manly scents. I don’t seek famine scents for me personally,cause thats not my angle. This hits me like a chypre type of thing. If it is too loud on you put less on. I’d almost say it makes me see why so many scents are labeled unisex. But leme’ see what wifey says, at the end of this banter 😂😂

Love this! This is POALesque with far less incense. I adore both of them, but this one seems less formal (still fancy!) and I will probably wear this more often than POAL. Edit: After wearing POAL yesterday and Reine de Nuit today, I have to say the longevity is quite poor. Maybe an hour or two then it’s a skin scent. I know POAL is a beast, but this is a kitten.

Women aged 30+ could pull it beautifully....the rose is dark but i would not call it vampy.it belongs to the dark feminine category i feel. Very deep, lovely and alluring. Loved it from the first sniff. In the opening it smelled similar to Delina limited edition but with the dry down it grows se#ier. It might not easily be liked by everyone though.

Truly wonderful roses that feel elegant and fresh. Not way too sweet or way too floral. Longevity is perfect, silage is ok. I really enjoy the fact that it is not way too loud as a perfume, but you can feel that it surrounds you. Quite close to Noir de Noir but this one does the job better. Huge love.

This is so Persian / Indian coded. Luxurious cardamom saffron rose syrup with ripe plums and berries, intense sweet oud incense and musky wood. Gorgeous and long wearing, transports you to an inspired walk through an Indian sweet market to bring offerings to the temple, if you're spiritually inclined.

This scent needs oakmoss as a base note, pure and simple. The base notes as is just can't carry it past the half hour mark and that is a shame because as so many attest below this is a top tier scent. If chypre florals are your passion, do try this. The opening is worth it.

In the best way possible this smells like a cherry red lipstick of an old woman working in a taxidermy shop, somewhere in the west. Or it's giving sexy vampire/werewolf running away from the law. And no I will not explain.

Beautiful masculine rose with a warm and creamy spice. There are only a few rose fragrances that I would rock without feeling like I smell to cloying or grandma-ish and this is definitely one of them.

An absolutely fantastic fragrance, especially for men. Don't let the name bias you. For those who care, yes, women seem to love this on guys.

I do see the POAL comparisons, but the difference is that you need massive cojones to wear POAL properly and you don't really with this. This could be a step up for a Delina girlie (gn) who isn't ready for the real heavy hitters (ie, me, probably). It is really pretty though. I am finding myself more and more drawn to fruity rose chypres so I'm easy to please. POAL aside (she's in a category of her own and to compare her would be an insult to god and Dominique Ropion), I don't think you would need both this and Rose of no man's land Absolu also from Byredo, but my Nordstrom never has that tester out so I haven't been able to smell them side by side, that's just my hunch from memory. I'll definitely want to do that before finalizing my birthday wishlist though. ETA: Nevermind, I do not like the drydown. Up close it's nice, but a shaving cream/disinfectant note appears and wafts up into my nose, reminding me of my pediatrician's office. I'll take Rose of no man's land Absolu over this

If you do like this perfume but think it's way overpriced I suggest you take a sniff at Sardonyx Fire edt by & Other Stories. My love for Byredo started not long ago but I find them generally overpriced as most of the edp perform like edt and the extraits perform like edp....just a personal opinion I seem to share with many others. Anyway when I tried this one on I loved it a lot...but the pricetag is hefty... A few weeks ago I was in the store of & Other Stories sniffing their perfumes and was struck by the similarity between Reine de Nuit and Sardonyx Fire...I've compared them side by side and they are very very similar! Sardonyx's designer is Jérome Epinette who has designed many of Byredo's perfumes ( maybe also this one?) After 3,5 hrs I don't smell it anymore but I still smell Sardonyx Fire on the other wrist...and during the wear I found Reine de Nuit to be a bit more heavy on the incense.

Very interesting scent... There's rose, but it sort of hides behind a subtle smokiness. There's a sweet fruity vibe but that also hides behind a dry woodiness. It's fresh, but dark. Strong, but not intruding. Very well blended and balanced. Smells natural. Probably leans a bit feminine but the smoky incense and woody vibe makes it decidedly unisex, a confident man could surely pull this off. I really like this, would definitely consider buying this especially since it's limited edition, but damn, that price tag though... Sheesh... So very, very expensive... O_O;;

I fell in love with this category of spicy, warm, sweet boozy rose scents and then all of a sudden got oversaturated with these kinds of perfumes. I guess be careful what you wish for? Had I not smelled Frederic Malle Portrait of a Lady, Diptyque Eau Capitale, Atelier Gold Leather, and Vilhelm 125th and Bloom before this, I probably would have been wowed, but this smells too similar to some others in my collection. I do like this fragrance, but I think some of the above alternative are very similar, just as good or better.

Very earthy dark green rose, but not as sharp as Nirvana Rose by Elizabeth and James. I got this because it was supposed to be compared to POAL but less masculine as it has less spices and woods. Other reviewers have said this is jammy so I was expecting blackcurrant jammy akin to Si Intense by Armani, but this isn't as sweet and jammy as I thought. I love an earthy / dirt like note and think I am slowly learning to love saffron so this is a great unisex rose that isn't too sweet or fresh or powdery or fruity.

Dark rose in full bloom; not sweet, unlike many rose scents nowadays. Slightly incensy; some greenness and dryness provided by a blend of ambrette seeds and patchouli. The notes are hard to pick apart, and it's unmistakably oriental yet not a full-blown opulent floriental. It's a fragrance that's hard to categorise - I'd recommend trying this on in person.

Soooooo amazing. Jammyyy dark sexy rose and juicy black berries, touched by a haze of incense. I find this to be a darkly masculine rose .. Need more of this asap!!! Perfect perfume for a date (previously my go to was rose 31 w a fresher rose soliflore on top of it)

I tried it without knowing it, with the guidance of a store salesperson. Yes, it is a nice, naive scent. Its performance is average like other Byredo fragrances. It does not deserve the name Extrait. and very feminine I definitely love masculine scents.

Smells delicious but longevity is not up to par for the price. Reminds me of MFK oud satin mood with a hint of BYREDO tobacco mandarin . OSM projects and is eternal so I’ll stick with that

Delicious smoke-rose scent. Sweet and perfect.

Opens with the blackcurrant and saffron and, in my opinion, a really strong patchouli base. I’ve been a chronic sampler for months and at this one my bf said “wow that smells like a REAL perfume”. Something about saffron makes me feel so grown up like a real adult. Anyways, the patchouli kind of overpowers the rose to me. Once this dries a bit the incense comes in and it’s soooooo smoky. To me it smells like hickory smoke and I think it was too food adjacent in my mind and I couldn’t get over that. I don’t want to be walking around smelling like a rose-chouli smoked ham. It’s not bad that’s just what it’s evoking for me and kind of ruined the fragrance. Lasts long as hell though, it’s always the ones you don’t love that are still on you the next morning.

Reine de Nuit aka Queen of the Night. It lives up to its name: a dark fragrance. The saffron note saves this fragrance, otherwise it would not be much different from its counterparts, its opening is still a clear rose-patchouli pairing... This is a common pair, as if it is essential for the niche houses. The darkness and zest given by the saffron is nice, the soft, cuddly, powdery ambrette in the drydown also nice, but overall not my cup of tea. I'll give it some time, maybe one day I'll get this rose-patchouli high.

On skin, rose and black currant lead, following by the incense which took over and overpowered everything else. On clothing, rose and currant mingle and nothing else appeared. Nothing great enough to be worth a full bottle here. Of course all perfumes perform differently on different body chemistry. Please do try before you buy. But I’m sure one thing remains common here, this perfume stains clothing. Beware.

You can clearly smell the pink rose. It even has a bit of a rose water and slightly boozy vibe. After about two hours, I didn’t quite like the way it settled on my skin. It might be a bit too much for very hot summer days. Not a great option for daily wear in the summer either. I tried a sample but wouldn’t purchase a full bottle. I like rose, but this one isn’t for me.

"Night Queen": it took me to the desert night in UAE, an oriental woman witn an elegant Abayaa and a smokey eye makeup with black kajal. She is setting next to the fireplace drinking her black tea. Beast mood when it came to sillage and longetivity, despite the name but it's more on the masculine side.

Do people find patchouli sexy? I was promised something vampy, hot, special and well I got mellow patchouli, which has to wait another 10years for me to try to pull off 👽 I just feel like I don’t have enough years under my belt to wear it

Reine de Nuit reminds me of perfume I would’ve went gaga over around the turn of the century. Thick, syrupy red rose combined with saffron may not be the most original idea in the perfume playbook, but it’s an easy to wear formula.

Very similar to Portrait of a Lady by Frederic Malle. Nothing new. There are several similar fragrances along similar lines. Bad job Byredo.

Luxurious, but fruity roses are not my piece of cake.

I got a sample hoping this would be the rick/dark rose scent I was looking for. Unfortunately, I learned that I cannot tolerate incense. It took over the whole show, and within 5 minutes I got a headache that bordered on a migraine. If you're looking for a rose with a darker undertone, this is not the one. If you're looking for spicy, aromatic, heavy scent with a rose note, this will likely be perfect.
