Sunday Cologne

I got a great deal on a 100mL bottle, so otherwise I would not have splurged on this and instead would have gone with Acqua di Parma Colonia or another one of their flankers (e.g. Colonia C.L.U.B) considering price to utility. But I am very grateful to have this fragrance as it is comforting, subtle, and matches its nomenclature. This scent is an easy reach and is the fragrance I use in-between usage of my other more loud/unique fragrances. Like another reviewer said: this is one you can wear in the mornings and evenings at home. The first hit is the citrus, and eventually the lavender and green notes come out in a great mix. It's light and refreshing and is a scent you could wear anywhere and anytime. Some may be reminded of classic colognes, and some may liken it to the feeling of fresh laundry. I believe it's more than just that as the cardamom and anise give it more pep. Oud Immortel has a similar vibe of contrast that includes spiciness but Sunday Cologne is more restrained and softened by the lavender, which lends itself to the "easy-reach" category I place it. If you spray some on your clothes, you will be able to smell it after a day of office work still. Other reviewers have likened this to a modernized, yuppie version of Acqua Di Parma's colognes and that's not too far from the truth. I cannot say if you, the reader, will be in love with the scent based on description and therefore conclude on a recommendation because many people are focused on ensuring "loudness" even with "subtle" scents. For a man at the office, the salesguy wouldn't be wearing this. It'd be the product manager or marketing manager wearing it (someone internal-facing). Though, I do believe the scent is unisex. I invite you to sample it in store and then go look at Acqua Di Parma or Santa Maria Novella's Acqua della Regina to compare and see the contrast. I would also add that I certainly enjoy this more than Margiela's Lazy Sunday Morning.

I've been wanting to try this, finally bought a 2ml sample. First off. ...WOW!!! Not what i was expecting!! --i guess i expected this to be a somewhat aged scent, spicy and gentlemanly. But instead, the initial blast is VERY clean and citrus-oriented. The opening reminds me of CLEAN Shower Fresh; there's a lemony essence that reminds me of hand-wipes, but in a good and refreshing way. With star anise as a top note, I'm shocked at how subdued it is, and plays nicely with the citrus/bergamot opening. I tend to dislike anise as it can smell like black licorice to me (which i CANNOT STAND), but here it is mellow. As it dries down, the spices come forth but that initial citrusy hand-wipe accord holds on strong, and keeps this scent sparkly fresh. WOW, I dig this. Can't wait to try the Eau de Cologne and compare it directly to this. Easily 8/10 for me, with great potential to be a 9. VERY pleased. *Edit-in:* Wore this to work today. . ..WEEEEEEEAAK. Are you kidding me?? I sprayed it on 3 times throughout the day, and was STILL a "barely-there" skin scent by the time I was leaving. For that price, this stuff should last a workday; it didn't even hang on til lunch! Boooo!!!

To my nose the projecting notes in Sunday Cologne are cardamom and star anise. I obviously get the bergamot but not to the extend described by other reviewers. I think the combo of these 2 spices heightens the perception of a stronger citrus and also makes the citrus zesty. The floral notes are agreeably light to me. As a man, floral notes turn me off if they standout over other notes. In SC the floral notes are soft, just enough to blend in and round the fragrance. At the base the patchouli and vetiver are equally present and balanced. They are both soft allowing the other notes to flow through as a good base should do. Sunday Cologne has this moderately sharp and tangy character that gives it a very unique personality. I have smelt many fragrances in my life and have not come across with one like it. SC would standout and draw me to it in any large gathering. It is lovely, elegant, versatile, unique, and long lasting. For its uniqueness, quality, precious smell, performance and magnetism it is worth it's money. People find it intriguing. I really adore this fragrance. I'll always have it in my collection.

Sunday Cologne smelled amazing on my skin from the first minute I sprayed it on. Initial notes were breezy and fresh bergamot with light spices, initially cardamom and anise, with hints of incense. In the middle phase of the development I got a more bitter dry scent with incense, moss and vetiver dominating. If this were the final drydown I would be walking away from this one. But, fortunately it is not. The drydown brings out a softness and even a bit of sweetness from the geranium, lavender and patchouli. Excellent blending of notes in this juice. This is light and breezy, spicy on my skin, very fresh and uplifting. Just when I thought the development was over and the fragrance had toned down to a skin scent I got a whiff of one of my favorite scents in the world- horses! The final skin scent of this one reminds me of the glorious scent of a clean horse's neck when he comes up to nuzzle you to look for an apple. Divine! I am putting this one on my wish list for a full bottle. I might share with my husband but I will wear this a lot myself.

Yes, this is definitely unisex. I can see both a man and a woman wearing this. I love it. Clean, vibrant and even sexy in its own way. Makes me think of sitting on the front porch, with a cold drink and slowly rocking on the porch swing with a handsome man. His clean aftershave mixing with your lightly sprayed perfume. Both fragrances mixing harmoniously creating something clean, calming, spicy and delicious. Yet this would not be out of place on a night out. Black tie or casual. I would find this fragrance attractive both on a man and a woman. Makes you want to get closer to just breath it in. I am so glad I bought this. Money well spent. A little expensive and I have to build my wardrobe more slowly with the cost of Byredo Fragrances. Love 3.4 ounces, but if push comes to shove will have to make the 1.7 do. Great fragrances.

Bought this fragrance simply based on some of the positive reviews here, and it turned out becoming one of my favorite scent in my little collection. It starts off pretty sweet, with lots of citrus in there which is quite refreshing. The floral notes come out in 10-15 minutes, lavender is definitely in there. But I don't get any vetiver there. I won't call this a cologne for Sunday as the name suggested, instead, I find this scent quite versatile. Definately unisex. I wear this to work recently and get quite a bit of complement from my colleagues. However, I find the projection of this scent a bit weaker than I would have liked as an EdP. It becomes pretty much a skin scent after 4-5 hours. Overall, I like this fragrance very much and I would give it a 9/10.

I also prefer Sunday Cologne significantly to Terre d'Hermes. The combination of bergamot, anise, and cardamom creates a "vibrant" spicy-fresh citrus as opposed to TdH's signature "dirty/earthy" citrus vibe. If you enjoy this one, I would recommend checking out Jo Malone's Grapefruit (one of their originals). I am torn between the Grapefruit and Sunday Cologne as my favorite citrus scents at the moment. I know citrus fragrances typically don't have beastly performance, and that is the only reason why I haven't already acquired a full bottle of Sunday Cologne. I saw a 100ml bottle available at a great discount, and though I really shouldn't be spending any more money on my collection...I still somewhat regret that I didn't jump on that deal!

This is harmony in a bottle. The notes play so well off of each other. In the opening the bergamot, anise, incense and geranium give off the sweet spicy ginger vibe. It feels cozy as the fragrance progresses and evolves. At the mid the citrus calms down and we get a sweet, spicy scent that lasts with you for the rest of the fragrance. I get 5-6 hours on my skin and I see this being worn in the spring. This scent is like its name easy like Sunday morning. This works for errands, late brunch or just hanging out with friends and family. It is a clean scent as some might say but without being soapy or smelling like laundered sheets. A job well done by Byredo, and yeah wear this on your weekend or on an off day for optimum effect!

An attractive, informal cologne with smooth citrus notes gently softened and warmed by light florals and earthy notes. Nothing is too prominent, it is all very well balanced and totally unisex. A very safe fragrance indeed, but that’s not a criticism, it’s lovely and I expect it would have mass appeal. The laid back vibe perfectly matches the name but this is too good to reserve for Sundays only. I wear it when I’m chllin’, day or night. Fresh, friendly and uplifting, I can’t imagine a scenario where this couldn’t be worn. Except maybe a funeral. It loses a few points for the poor longevity, so I give 7/10

Because Byredo has a large female or artsy consumer base this has gotten an unfair shake I feel. This is a 4+ fragrance without a doubt. This is a very clean, simple, and beautiful masculine cologne. The two stars are cardamom and geranium, and they dance around each other in perfect harmony of warmth and uplifting flowers. Elegant and gentlemanly. Not for those looking to be loud or artistic in their expression. Stable and mature. Some fragrances are not possible to last a long time based on the raw ingredients used and that is the case here.

This for me produces a very nostalgic memory of wearing nice freshly laundered clothes and feeling laid-back and casual whilst also bearing a pristine 'i feel good' and just-had-a-haircut' vibe. ...So it smells like laundry tissues (in a good way) - more specifically for those that know 'Bounce' laundry tissues. This is a compelling take on a fragrance as a contemporary, accessible to any age alternative to the more dated traditional colognes as it provides a clean smell (not quite 'soapy' but more laundry) along with a distinct masculinity.

I wore it 2 times this week lovely combination with bergamot and very good lasting. Sunday cologne is a good name for it, "fantastic man" is not the best name for it it gives you the feeling you get a rich and powerfull scent. Laidback easy sunday morning out of the shower fresh and vibrant notes give you a good feeling all through the morning/day. Its an uplifting mood fragrance. If you like clean fresh n vibrant cologne type scents this one is a really good choice! Its pricy so i think i get an alternative but well done byredo!

I don't care what everyone says, this has very good performance, especially in the first couple of hours. You don't need to take down the bees and flies in a mile radius ffs. Plus quite honestly, I find overspraying a huge turn off and lacking class. You are radiating like Chernobyl. Stop it! It's not enjoyable to those around you. This fragrance is giving me old money vibes. Such an elegant and effortless citrus and vetiver. Perfect for a day or a work scent. Love it and will definitely buy again. 9/10

Very refreshing blast of citrus and spice. Gets a little more aromatic in the drydown. I think actually it's the incense note that makes it interesting for me. Don't usually like lavender, but it works fine here. Perfect for casual wear. Actually the name is quite fitting, I save this gem for sundays. Great for outside activities. Good niche option for mass market fragrances like Bleu de Chanel and Dylan Blue in my opinion. Both sillage and projection is moderate. 7 out of 10

Absolutely adore this perfume. To me, it is a very summery scent – it reminds me of mosquito repellent and being out all day in the sunshine. The opening almost smells like citronella, bright and sharp. Dry down is more quieter, the vetiver gives weight to it. I find the scent to last quite short, but I have gotten the most compliments with it. Seems like it sits with me very well because I won't smell it anymore and people will tell me I smell fresh and citrusy. Love it.

I'm scratching my head about people with longevity issues of this fragrance. I know everyone has different chemistry but how can this last on me 10 hrs consistently and 1-2 hrs on someone else? This is a great frag that hits a lot of positive points for me. It's clean, smells phenomenal, versatile, non generic with heavy silage. I'm starting to take other's perceived longevity with a grain of salt and just ignore it.

I do get the comparison of the scents everybody is talking about (Terre des Hermès and For Her Narcisso Rodriques) but.....to me this is the perfect blend. Terre des Hermes is too masculine and For Her is way too feminine for me. This is truly unisex. It sits close to the skin, is warm but fresh. On woman I think it is a very sexy scent :) I can not stop sniffing my wrist. This one is going straight to my wishlist!

My boyfriend has this and you only really get a whif when you're up close but it is really beautiful on the skin. On him it has a warmth to it with the cardamom without being too spicy, but it smells totally different on a card. It's one to try before you buy, that's for sure. I can see it working beautifully for some and a total miss on others.

I love this one, it is really one hell of a conogne. Fresh, spicy and citrusy in the beginning, the drydown is a bit more subtle and heavier. Due to vetiver and spices definitely. Fresh, clean and luxurious scent, perfect for spring and summer. It is wareable during colder days also, for some kind of fresh punch! On my wishlist. My rating: 8/10

I absolutely adore this, and am already dreading the day my sample runs out. A striking citrus that manages to feel both modern and classic at the same time. Also, 1-2 sprays last all day and permeates clothing, so I love it for when I'm flying or need to be out all day and just want the assurance that I'll still smell good by the end of it.

To me, this is a great scent for layering. It may not be long lasting on its own, but I don’t like sweet fragrances and I can layer them with Sunday Cologne and it takes the sweet edge off. When I do this, it lasts all all day and it elevates my mistakes to absolute loves so it’s become a staple over a very short time.

I am wearing this right now. I love it. Perfect spring summer work scent, very nice, simple and unpretentious. Longevity is very good! I really don't get the hate here, it lasts 6+ hours on me, more than HEROD for example. So yeah, all in all, very nice work scent for spring and ☀️. Love it.

One of my favorite scents from Byredo. On me, this comes across as bergamot and lime, with a strong cardamom note. Very bright and invigorating. Fresh and spicy, this is perfect for a casual day. I'm happy to have found a nice light fragrance that doesn't fade prematurely.

Such a good dumb reach. It's the perfect light cologne to apply after a shower or before bed. Only lasts for a couple of minutes (I don't mind this). Definitely worth buying if you can find it heavily discounted; you will get lots of daily use out of it.

Lovely, soft, calming stuff. Perfect for a relaxing Sunday afternoon. A Classy, easy to wear, unisex fragrance. It's not going to be a night out, date night Fragrance but it's not intended to be. Exactly what it says on the bottle. 8/10

I didn't have to consider the price (initially)I was given a very generous spray from Paulie29. I really, really like it, the Lavender, in its soft surroundings is a winner for me, an everyday Jicky (?)

Not a Sunday cologne at all but more of a 24/7 EDP. Very unobtrusive to your surrounding but vibrant and fresh. With a nice suit only. Longevity demands a refill midday. 9/10

Just wonderful!!!!! The best casual scent I ever had, and I have been looking hard for it. Don't like overly sweet, fruity things, this is so classy and makes me sooo happy!!

Great Smell! Poor longevity! Pass!

Byredo Sunday Cologne is accurately named in that it's a take on the traditional cologne concept, but it's certainly a departure from the normal concept (usually involving neroli) and in EDP, is notably spicier and dirtier than most of its cologne-named kin from other houses. The cardamom factors in a lot for me as far as the spicy/dirty concept, along with the fresh bergamot to start. The lavender more or less fills the floral freshness role that neroli would otherwise achieve in other colognes or freshies. So Sunday Cologne is both laundry fresh and dirty at the same time, which isn't a quandary for me but a charming duality. It settles into a mix of vetiver and oakmoss, an agreeable enough drydown. It wins major points for creativity but loses some performance, which is average at best, especially for an EDP. Surely this is ideal for warm weather day use. I've not tried the EDC version on skin but perhaps it would better suit others. Personally, I lean toward the maximum concentration version in such cases. At $150 for 50ml and $230 for 100ml, retail pricing is a bit steep so this was definitely a stretch for me but I'd recommend looking for deals for this one. 7 out of 10

There’s a lot to like here for a daytime fragrance. Very fresh, not sickly at all, quite the opposite, a bit invigorating / energizing. Definitely classy. It starts off with some classic cologne notes, and the base is a nice dry woody modern accord. The base reminds me of a 5-10% intensity version of ExplOud by Laboratory Olfattivo, which I like a lot, but exploud really is like its name says; explosive and loud, and it lasts a week+ on clothes. On the other hand, Sunday cologne has a similar base accord note, but may last 3-4 hours tops on clothing and is much more inoffensive. For that reason, I would definitely only wear this during the day for a refresher. Compared to something like Acqua di Parma colonia, Sunday cologne is a lot less top-note-loud from the jump, has a more robust base, and so will probably last ~twice as long. My criteria isn’t always the loudest and longest lasting fragrance possible, so for that reason I really like Sunday cologne for a nice day time vibe. 8/10

Very clean, unoffending and pleasant. Soapy lavender, citrus with a touch of vetiver and that typical Byredo unisex sweet twist. It‘s very calming and unique enough to get a 50 ml bottle. As the name suggest, it is very pleasantly calming on the weekends. Longevity of 4-5 hours with a soft projection. I do not get the similarity between this and Terre d’Hermes. T d’H is sharp and penetrating mass production with a strong orange. Sunday Cologne is warm and calming citrusy lavender. The only thing those have in common is the vetiver. With T d’H it’s very dominant. In SC it plays more in the background.

A light, fresh, lime-driven opening settling down to a peppery wood finish. Unisex, good for warmer days. If I close my eyes and squit really hard I can see TdH, I guess. I don't find it to be really close to TdH, at all, honestly. I wear TdH a few times a week at the office and this isn't really that similar. Maybe in the same genre, sure, but the Byredo is FAR less masculine and much less formal. Average longevity, low projection, and, like most Byredo, too expensive. Not a bad scent, though! 6.75/10. Pass for me on cost, alone.

This is very nice, but my girlfriend hates it. Vetiver, either you love it or hate it. This one is very similar to French Lover by FM. Smells earthy, citrusy and floral. Very clean, but at the same time dirty and bitter. Lasts at least 8 hours on my skin, and sillage is enormous. One spray on the top of my hand, and everyone near me could smell it. It's expensive. I paid $ 180 for 50 ml. I would get a sample before buying a bottle. I really like it.

I do not know how I feel about this one still to this day. I bought a used bottle back in march, but something about it, I just do not know. The opening is weird, a little screechy, probably the star anise note in it. Like a weirder terre d'Hermes. Never wore it since but I can't get myself to sell it. The longevity on this one is quite poor, around 4 hours with decent projection in the first 2 hours before it turns into a skin scent. 6/10

You know, it's not super unique.. but I do like this scent. It's gentle, and perhaps that's why. A nice, fresh cologne, leans slightly masculine. I think it would be a great scent for a significant other. It is quite light and sits close to the skin, which I think I prefer anyway, for fragrances I deem masculine. I would prefer to lean in and smell this one close to the neck, rather than have it be announced loudly.

This one surprised me.. on paper the citrus lavender cardamom combination jumps out. Comes into the ouvre of MDCI's Invasion Barbare, which is classy as all hell. Surprising that doesn't come up in the Reminds Me Of section. And then slowly as it progresses the slight smokiness of the oakmoss and incense emerges. Definitely interesting and deserving of further exploration and consideration 8/10

I just got a sample of the EDP version of this and I concur with previous comments: the scent itself it amazing, but the longevity is terrible. The lack of longevity is very problematic for something that costs this much and is sold as an EDP. I'd hate to see how long the EDC lasts. Ugh. Think I'll just stick with Pulp.

Lets see..Fresh and citrusy, easy to wear and versatile. It is pleasant, Sunday cologne is bright and a decent scent overall, but lacks the ability of evoking strong emotions. It is a bit "cold", a bit too formal, a bit too "distant". Pretty versatile and pleasant otherwise. 7.5/10

A very unisex fresh citrus scent. Longevity rather weak, approximately 1 hour with ok projection, 2-3 hours close to skin. Scent is nice though, imo very natural. 7.5/10, though it feels like it might grow on me

As cologne as cologne can be, my thoughts echo those of the below reviewers. Clean and completely inoffensive--anise is not a star here. This could be worn anywhere for any occasion.

This is a perfume that smells like your generic fresh-citrus-and-herbal cologne. Definitely not worth the price tag, but still a nice fragrance for men.

Lovely Earl grey scent. Works well on a man or woman. It does not last on me though... so for this price it’s a no.

Overpriced nonsense, despite smelling lovely. I have aftershave that lasts longer.

It's exactly what you would expect, a 50 year olds scent

very similar to colonia by ADP, but this one is better. ADP gives a certain mixture that is sharp and too robust, crisp and too old. this one is more subtle, where all the elements combine better and softer into what colonia ADP should smell like

This is the nice Mormon dad of colognes. Well-groomed, friendly, dependable, unoffensive, wholesome, professional, if a little generic and boring. The only surprise here is that I don't hate the star anise in this - extremely well blended.
