Sundazed

I’m on here because I’m desperate to assuage my perfume buying addiction. I actually had reason prevail and have a large sample of Sundazed. I really love it, but am trying to discipline myself to the early days when I carefully sampled and compared and looked for perfumes to ‘fill the category’ of whatever notes made a frag. At one time for instance in the far mists of time I only had one tuberose perfume. 😄. Lol. Anyway. I’m looking at the votes thinking, nah, Sundazed can’t smell like Oyedo, surely? I love Oyedo and have the old square bottle from years ago. Well the heavy chemical neroli opening is incredibly similar and even the rather strange caramel note behind it is in both of them for a while. Sundazed is sweeter and more sugary in the progression however, while Oyedo has a slight hint of Iris and even oak moss. I guess Sundazed is catering for current gourmand tastes. It also has a really teasingly beautiful and persistent sillage. I’m thinking that I should just enjoy my now absolutely beloved masterpiece Love Don’t Be Shy, but to me it is totally different to Sundazed. Sundazed is like you spilled your fake over sweetened sticky orange fizzy drink in the bottom of your plastic lined beach bag with fruit lollies and leaking pink zinc sun cream. It’s all stuck to your towel and the hat you should put back on before you get melanoma. Plus sand. You have to hose it all out on the back lawn under the hot summer sun. And peg it to a line on the Hills hoist.

I didn't know perfumes could make me feel emotions I've never experienced before until I tried Sundazed. WOW. This might be my favorite Byredo frag of all time honestly. This is SUCH a roller coaster. Upon first spray, I literally smell heat waves in the desert. The perfume is radiating heat. I feel like I'm in an 80's cartoon version of the desert and the sun is setting behind an incredible purple sunset, while I examine miles of thick heat waves. I'm PARCHED, and then, like an angel sent from God, I am greeted with a burst of the JUCIEST mandarin orange I've ever smelt in my life. God, I wanna EAT IT, it's so juicy. Finally, of all the smells in the world... I am bestowed with a fluffy piece of cotton candy to end the experience. The neroli is beautifully done and is carried throughout the entire fragrance giving it some structure. There is definitely a powdery undertone throughout, as well. Somehow, someway... this just WORKS. The whole composition. Yes, it's mildly bizarre, but it tells a story I've never read before. And THAT is what I love about perfume. Rating: 10/10 EDIT: Supposedly, Sundazed is supposed to mimic the feeling of summer after a long Norwegian winter. I'm in Minnesota and we experience a similar mania when the sun finally comes out after months of depressing bitter cold temps. It's no wonder this frag speaks to me so much aw

I wrote a negative review... and then I deleted it. I completely understand the dislike for this because I was one of you for the first 30 minutes I tried it on my skin. I Immediately thought toilet cleaner. Then it developed... and sat for a while... and dried... and faded away... and I found myself not being able to stop thinking about it. This is so. Interesting. This is the only fragrance I've been able to pick out each individual note in. The citrus in the beginning, enveloped slightly by the neroli, then fading into cotton candy-like musk. Throughout the wear time, it's always got that sweetness floating around in a cloud about your general person, so someone who is smelling you from a distance might get that first. When I put my nose up close to it, I get the citrus and neroli again. Back up, and it's back to the cotton candy. It's so layered and dynamic. It's like sunshine in a bottle. The carefree nature of summer... sipping a lemonade on the boardwalk with a big fluffy cotton candy in your other hand, walking toward the beach at sunset. Nectar of the gods. This is next in line to buy on my wishlist. Once that paycheck hits, I'm ordering the FB and not looking back. 11/10

BAM!! 💥 White floral. Period. 😊 It's clean, citrusy, slightly sweet & verrrry neroli-jasmine focused. Just squeaky clean, plasticky, shiny white flowers with sharp citrus and a hint of candy. The candy note here has more presence than the finery one; but ultimately they smell so similar that hardly anyone would know the difference. Oriana comparisons I'm going to have to disagree with. One key similarity, which I believe draws this comparison, is that each fragrance shares a similar-type smelling neroli/orange blossom note; but other than that they're completely different genres. While Oriana is a much softer, orange-vanilla marshmallow and fuzzy musk-ambrette oriented gourmand fra; Sundazed is a gleaming, razor sharp, crispy-clean white floral freshie. Sundazed is interesting in its sterile plasticity, although I do find I prefer the woodsy, darker fragrances × Byredo. That said, it is my hot summer days Byredo pick. Layers beautifully with Sol de Janeiro Cheirosa 40 body care products.

The notes on this one made me run out to smell it at my local Neiman Marcus. As others have stated this doesn't have a cotton candy note -- the official site reads this line "Like cotton candy, a cascade of white musk injects this citrus scent with the endorphin rush of sugar on skin. Nostalgia and escapism entwine to channel the warmth of an endless summer" which might be why there's a note listed as cotton candy. Anywho, this smells great -- you get a burst of citrus and something is sweet in this and it really does come off as cotton candy. But once this settles down it almost smells like the best dryer sheet you could own and I'm not mad at that. I will love spraying this for the summer and spring as it's a nice sweet citrusy scent that turns into a clean laundry Esq scent. I would say this isn't blind buy worthy due to the way it transforms -- but this is easy to locate and sniff.

Smelled at Neiman Marcus just the other day. I knew nothing about the note breakdown, and the SA pretty much only knew that it had citrus and neroli. But man, as soon as she sprayed it on my wrist, I knew this was a love. The opening fullisade of tart, juicy, citrus, neroli, and jasmine is so familiar but so charming here. I've never been the biggest fan of neroli (too soapy), but here the balance between the citruses and neroli is so well done. It's fairly linear, with the so-called cotton candy base and musk becoming a bit more prominent as time goes on, but that doesn't bother me in the least. Longevity of one spray on my wrist was quite good; around 6-7 hours after my trip to Neiman I could still smell it, which for a citrusy freshie ain't bad. This is a lovely, happy-go-lucky, fun, and playful fragrance that I will definitely be getting a full sample of, if not a full bottle. 8/10

I just received this one as I found an almost new 1.6 oz barely used bottle for $75 bucks on resale site. First sniff on unsprayed bottle cap is similar to PDM Oriana. First spray is nuclear citrus- very sharp orange for me with neroli, so quite soapy. The opening is similar to PDM Oriana but more sharp and less creamy. After 5-10 minutes I then can smell the musk and candy. It remains sharp and has a laundry/dryer sheet smell to it. I do not smell lemon or jasmine. I am obsessed with this, but unfortunately for me it disappears within 2-3 hours max. I have already sprayed 8-10 sprays of it throughout today. I did notice it tends to linger more if it gets in my hair, and the cotton candy note is more pronounced in my hair compared to skin. This is cotton candy with orange soap and while that sounds bizarre I love it. This does not smell at all like LDBS to me at least.

I originally sampled this in the winter in Australia. In the cold, a bitter citrus note dominated. It felt clinical and as a result the sample sat in my drawer, unused for some time. I just sampled it again in the middle of a dry Australian heatwave and the fragrance blossomed into the most addictive summer scent on my skin. Suddenly, it was a sweet, refreshing neroli bomb. It was at no stage cloyingly sweet. It performed so well in the heat - leaving a lingering scent trail and lasted for ages on clothes and skin. I was so impressed by the silage and longevity for a citrus scent. I’ve fallen in love with this scent in the heat and decided I need to wear this during every future summer heat wave. I am a bit disappointed that I can’t purchase a travel size for this purpose.

Reading this page of reviews, I'm surprised to see that most are either negative or lukewarm - for me, Sundazed is the best new Byredo release in a while. I was surprised by how much I like it, and I think it absolutely lives up to its wonderful name. In a way it's not a very ambitious perfume; it's a simple combination of notes and it doesn't change much throughout its (admittedly rather short) life span. But simplicity is not a bad thing, especially in summer, and I think it was a stroke of genius to add a realistic cotton candy accord to the classic neroli/citrus combination. It makes for an uncomplicatedly happy scent that I personally will enjoy very much this summer. It might even be one of those rare decants in my collection that eventually turn into full bottles...

Haters be damned (can I swear on here?) I am a sucker for a fragrance that evokes young love, and this one fits the bill in a way that I find more complex than most. It’s like going to the boardwalk on a sweltering August evening with designs to “run into” your crush. They buy you a cotton candy, win you a teddy bear, and before you know it you’re kissing on the Ferris wheel. The cotton candy and citrus (more zest than juice) is prominent here, giving the fragrance the sweet innocence you’d expect. But the neroli, jasmine, and musk add a humidity with just a touch of sensuality beneath it that transform this one from a body splash to the full experience of a distant memory - one you return to often when life lacks the luster of being young.

This is beautiful and the name fits the fragrance. Yes it's mass appealing and basic. But it makes it easy to wear. I know this gets lots of hate for having bad longevity and bad sillage. But this scent to me is meant for more of a skin scent, your skin but better smell. I did not find this similar to LDBS or Oriana. This scent is much lighter, less musky and more sparkling, like sizzling in the hot sun all day. This would be perfect to wear or cool down the heat. The lemon and mandarin were too prominent and the dry down was not nearly as sweet as LDBS and Oriana. This is just my personal opinion however. This is exactly what I wanted Saint Julep to be.

This is a more complex, grown-up, less cloying Pink Sugar impo. It smells like how you would imagine a hot summer night, at a fair, on line for cotton candy. You get the sharp citrus notes from the lemon and mandarin, with a sharp outdoorsy bite from the neroli. The fragrance then settles after a little bit of wear into this sticky, cotton-candy gourmand. I'm not normally the biggest fan of neroli in my fragrances, but this does it for me. The note is not too dramatic or sharp. I have a small sample sized vial that I am defo gonna use up until the weather outside isnt as warm. But this is the PERFECT gourmand for spring/summer.

So juicy and sweet, as far as perfumes go. I'm more of a bodyspray person since I'm sensitive to fragrances, but this one truly takes the cake. My absolute favorite spring-summer scent. I don't recommend this for winter or fall. The cold makes it come off as a bit bitter, but in the summer it's absolutely amazing. Longevity is definitely an issue with all the Byredo perfumes. So be warned. I think it's good for all ages and genders. My boyfriend prefers sweet but not sugary scents as he's very sensitive to fragrance as well, and he loves wearing Sundazed. So therefore I rate it unisex.

It has the stereotypical smell that I call "retro citrus cologne" vibe at the beginning, like Neroli Portofino, Amalfi Sunray, classic 4711, Mugler Cologne, etc., but it has been put on a sweet cotton candy/red-white candy cane base. Drydown is mainly the mentioned sweetness + realistic mandarin. It is utterly bizarre, but I have to admit I LOVE it. Definitely full bottle worthy, but only for the summer/late spring. Lasting power is OK, it lasted for 7-8 hours, but sits really close to the skin.

Yes, it does open up similarly to Oriana but Sundazed has neroli which dominantes through the whole time. Oriana opens up with soft, sweet and delicate oranges and goes marshmallowy after a while, while Sundayzed keeps being neroli based and has a slight detergent smell to it. I don’t mind that cause i like detergent-like scents but only to an extent. It gives me a bit of headache though...but i like this kind of a scent profile. Deffo NOT blind buy safe!

I hate that I love this because of the hefty price tag but I need this. This is like the perfect summer scent for me. Fresh, a bit sparkly with some cotton candy sweetness. It hasn’t always been like this though lol, as when I first put my nose on this, it smelled like washing up liquid and I didn’t get the hype. But I realised I didn’t actually spray it, I just smelled it from the bottle lol. This is divine and I’m going to add this one to my collection.

This is exactly what I wanted Love Don’t Be Shy to be. I find the two somewhat comparable in composition, but Sundazed has much more citrus. The cotton candy dry down is realistic, but stays close to the body so it never becomes overwhelming. Just pleasant enough to sometimes catch a whiff on my clothes. If you like the idea of extremely femme gourmands like LDBS, but aren’t entirely committed yet, Sundazed is perfect. Love it.

I love this scent! It’s a little fresh, very sweet and I think it’s very playful and sexy! I love the cotton candy and citrus mixed with the neroli and vanilla musk! I think you could wear this year round but definitely great for spring and summer! If you like Oriana but found it too powdery and musky and want something more rounded and fresh while maintaining a sweet sexiness then this is it! Yummy scent I want to eat it lol!

i take everything i said about this perfume. sampled this in the dead of winter and all i got was harsh citrus cleaning products, returned back to the sample in the summer and it is the most sweetest lemon candy perfume ever. Dont bother trying this on a cold day, but this is a true summer perfume it is so gorgeous, the cotton candy really shines through and i just crave that citrus sweetnes omfg

It smells like a good dream. Where everything just falls into places... it's pleasantly sunny, not too hot,, you roll around the soft grass, you're smiling.. you feel happiness in a bottle. It's magical.. Like some playful fairy put a spell on you, to get you happy. When you miss the sun, this feeling every winter, you spray this and it feels like that warm happiness again

Some of byredo line up to me almost smells the same in the drydown (mojave,inflorescence,gypsy,la tulipe,and this sundazed) <——i want them all but so pricey so i just decided to get sundazed as my first byredo bottle coz i love the smell of cotton candy. I can imagine this being my signature scent. It is sweet but not too sweet. I wont get tired of this. 🥰

This is a perfect for summer. I love the balance of both neroli and citrus. Last over 12 hours on my skin. Been layering other weak citrus fragrance with this one and that helps not use it as much. My to go summer fragrance was Florabotanica which has since been discontinued but I’m loving this equally. Highly recommended for summer and hot spring days.

Lemon candy floss Great citrus scent with candy sweetness in the background which is great as i find citrus fragrances to be more 1 dimensional. Almost like a sweeter, more feminine dior homme cologne. Unisex but definitely leans more feminine. This could definitely work all year round in my opinion but would obviously work best on hot days.

Is it expensive for what you get? Probably. But would I repurchase when I run out? Absolutely. This is a bougie cotton candy. Nothing sickly sweet and doesn't smell cheap, somehow smells almost a touch woody and rustic, like you're at a summer festival in a clear meadow in rural Scandinavia. Not cloying or overpowering for warmer months.

It was a warm day today and I put this onto go for a hike. It smelt clean and fresh, and even outside I kept getting whiffs of it as I was walking which a few hours in I thought was impressive performance. I ge that others sat about the fragrance but in a warm day it was just what I wanted I’d definitely be tempted by a bottle of this

I knew the day would come that this would be discontinued...but I'm still so devastated :( This is a polarizing scent but it is has been my number ONE summer favorite for YEARS. It is just the most magnificent combination of sugary sweet and sharp, almost astringent, citrus. I have never found anything that quite compares.

This is Florida in a bottle! As a native, I love it! It reminds me of a day on the beach drinking fruity cocktails and ending at the local fair on the ferris wheel. Despite that sounding childish, I find it to be an elegant sweet scent, orange blossom with a hint of cotton candy. I do think this lasts pretty well on me.

I have this perfume and absolutely love it. Today I tested Can't Stop Loving You By Kilian on my wrist and oh my, these perfumes are so similar. Both are very sweet and refreshing at the same time, not at all gourmand, a little chemical, but in a good way. Quite unique scents and hard to categorize.

This is absolutely pretty! At the first moment bitter citrus peel dominate. Then, almost immediately burned sugar is more and more expressive and became quite loud background. For those who discuss if the cotton candy accord exist in the blend can stop - it is involved without any doubt.

Just got a bottle of this. Wanted it since last summer , my favorite neroli scent ,better than TF portofino . Sundayzed is sweeter and softer and has a gourmand edge. It’s fresh ,summery but warm. I just love it. Great release. For reference I love Gypsy water and Velvet Haze.

Soapy and orange-y and yummy. Wish it was more of a cotton candy smell but that sweetness definitely comes through. Trying it for the first time in the winter and it's definitely more of a summer scent but im going to wear it anyways!!!

This is my happy fragrance.There’s something so unique about this combination of extremely clean citrus plus cotton candy that I can’t stop sniffing my wrist!It doesn’t project but lasts upto 4-5hrs on the skin,a lot longer on fabric.

I love it so much, its slightly sweet and powdery. Its very similar to Oriana but way more well blended. Fresh citrusy, laundry detergent kind of scent. Longevity and projection are bad, I would not buy it the full price

This is cotton candy. I didn’t read the notes before I sampled it and was transported to eating cotton candy at my local county fair. That’s all I smell. Cotton candy. And I love it! Such a nostalgic scent.

I’ve been looking for a scent which would be similar to Olaplex No 3 hair oil and finally found it!!! Based on notes I guessed it and it is idential for my nose. More suitable for a young girl imo.

Ohhh this is love from the first spritz. ITS sweet cotony candy orange 🍊 and lemonade ,adorable and summery, people ask me allvays what a parfum I wear!! Love ❤️

To me, this one smells like a more grown up version of PDM Oriana. I love the opening, it is fresh, sweet and zesty. Sadly it does not last on my skin.

Such a lovely interpretation of neroli, with citrus juices & cotton candy. Clean, zingy, zesty; summertime and sundogs in a bottle!

Upon first spray, I did not like this whatsoever! I literally had the stankest face. 😖 You know when you break or squeeze the stem of a flower and the sticky juice from the stem gets on your fingers and you smell it? That’s what Sundazed smells like upon first spray. Like freshly cut grass or the green of the stems of a flower. Then as it dries you still get the greenery, but then a fresh orange peel 🍊and lemon zest 🍋 note comes out in a pungent and sharp way.. it’s like all the notes are fighting and the flowers and fruits are having a brawl up your nose. ༼ ༎ຶ ෴ ༎ຶ༽ I was ready to declutter this without thinking, but I still wanted to give it a chance... eventually 30 minutes later I kept getting a waft of something fresh and sweet! Sundazed only smells good on the dry down... but the first half hour is just unbearable to me! On the dry down is where the cotton candy comes out and then I get a lil hint of “mmm”. The lemon and orange die down a bit along with the green notes, however they still linger in the background while the cotton candy pulls to the front. I still don’t know how I feel about this, I will try a couple more times before I give my final verdict. Very polarized by this fragrance. Fresh floral with sweetness and a bit aquatic. I do not know if I will come around to this because the green notes and sharpness of the fragrance really turns me off. However after half an hour the fragrance finally turns into what I was expecting. Really have to get through that nasty first hour to get a yummy, bright fragrance. UPDATE: Decided to KEEP. Made a new review!! Came back a month later and WOW!

Got a little 1ml tester of this one the other day, and I love it so far. Young and delightful, really appeals to my sweet tooth. Goes on sticky sticky sweet -- floral and bright. What citrus is there is actually very subtle on me, a lot more mandarin than lemon. More blossomy than citrussy, and more candied peel than fresh juice. There is something bright and forward there, almost grassy, but it's not overpowering. Is that the neroli? It mellows pretty quickly. As I continue to wear it, the citrus subsides further--I'm getting a more jasmine, and that bit of sweet white musk is coming through. The neroli does stick around for a while, adding a subtle greenness to all this sugar and musk. It doesn't have as much longevity as I'd like, and it's down to a cottoncandy-musk skin scent within three hours. It doesn't really match my goth vibes, but I love this scent a lot. It's wonderfully sweet (without being too cloying), and to my nose it's quite girly, though it might also be attractive on a man brave enough to wear it. It's warm and sticky, like an icypole melted in summer sun. Pure happiness. I'll be very tempted to buy a few more mls of this come summertime :)

A summery, synthetic carnival of a fragrance. There’s a sprightly citrus lean – I can clock the candied lemon and mandarin – but it’s more Starburst than fresh-squeezed. There’s also an overarching plasticky feel to the scent, which I hope is intentional, as it makes me think of jelly sandals and beach balls. It’s juvenile, but in a nostalgic way. Grade school birthday parties, clamouring about a cotton candy machine. The jewelry rack in the back of Claire’s, the air fizzing with a spectrum of body mists. I have a soft spot for these gummy-fruity-nerolis, but I think Regime des Fleurs’s Nitesurf Neroli has a more interesting execution with its seasalt and amber. Mental Snapshot: It’s the last week of junior high and you’re on a sugar high. You’re on a field trip to the boardwalk. Or a waterpark. Heart-shaped sunglasses, hibiscus-print tankini, holographic plastic fanny pack. You spend all your change on Dance Dance Revolution rounds at the arcade. Or on Dippin Dots. You don't even feel the sunburn. tl;dr: rainbow sherbet 🍧🏖️

Sooooo I have to totally counter my last review. I let this sit and came back to it A WHOLE MONTH later and I have to tell you.. that greeness I got that was horribly disgusting... is gone. I get it sometimes on first spray but it QUICKLY disappears after the first 2 minutes. I’m a left with this yummy, sweet fragrance with the lemon and cotton candy notes coming through BEAUTIFULLY. If this perfume smells like how I described in my first review.. let it sit and come back to it! Can’t believe I did a whole 180 😭 this is bright while being very fresh and SWEET! Has quickly became a favorite. If you like this, I think you would also like Burberry Brit! Another sweet limey, fragrance. NO LONGER A DECLUTTER. Do not have anything like this in my collection at all.. I get it now.. I TAKE MY WORDS BACK FROM MY LAST REVIEW WHOLEHEARTEDLY!! Please let fragrances sit and come back to them! Perfume maturing is 100% true.

Beautiful warm citrusy fragrance. You can immediately smell the lemon but it is candy and neroli sweet and because of the musk you get the warmth. It is definitely a summer fragrance; it reminds me of summer camp with pine trees and swimming pool. I usually don't like lemony scents and this one scared me at first as it starts off somewhat acidic, but once it sets into the skin it morphs into a very youthful and bright lemon candy scent. So I wouldn't recommend this to anyone who likes more mature fragrances; it is definitely more playful and sparkly. It can also smell different on people. My friend says it smells like a cleaning product on her, while on me smells more sweet, so that is another thing to keep in mind. For me, it is complex enough for summer and the beach. Longevity is ok I guess, nothing crazy. Price point for this is absolutely ridiculous. This is not a high end fragrance in no shape or form.

If you have trouble detecting what’s added in Dark Lord, it’s actually the main note from Sundazed. Mandarin, neroli? Who the hell knows. From the official notes, it seems only jasmine overlaps. Jasmine? It turned out to be jasmine, definitely. In Dark Lord, jasmine is incorporated in such a way that it perversely emphasizes the rest of the leading notes. Here jasmine blends with neroli and mandarin, creating real competition for Neroli Portofino, Mandarino di Amalfi, Lutens’ citrus scents, and so on. It’s a niche alternative that’s good, but I couldn’t simply treat it as a citrusy, fresh fragrance... or could I? I don’t know. In any case, it’s a combination of notes I really like, showing that you don’t have to stick to safe Ford territories or rely on a single good note like in other scents — it’s a successful experiment that fits my preferences, elevating this fragrance high.
