Young Rose

I received a sample of this and didn't think too much of it as I'm not the biggest fan of rose fragrances (even though I'm slowly turning into one more and more every day), however I was enticed by the beautiful campaign made to accompany the launch of this fragrance: young, bold, rebellious yet sophisticated and minimal. So I sprayed it on and was taken aback at first. Very astringent, prickly pepper on the top, I'm surprised citruses aren't listed as notes in here as it almost feels like lemon. I imagine this stage as the prick from a rose thorn, not the blood-tinged imagery of it akin to ELDO's Eau de Protection, or the questionable double entendre by mr. Ford, but simply the sharpness of it, it's jolting you awake. After this first impression, the rose starts shining through, paired with the "zingy" opening it's a fresh, realistic one, not overly jammy or saccharine (it reminds me of the way the rose initially plays out in Hermès Twilly Eau Poivrée ). My favorite part, however, is the dry down, when the pepper lays to sleep, and the powdery, musky aspects join the dance. This becomes almost a "My Skin but Better" scent, it doesn't smell overly perfume-y, it's comfortable and soft, it's like you're laying naked in bed on a Sunday morning but you've only ever bathed in rose water. It's like the scent of roses becomes natural to you/your skin chemistry. This is normally not a scent I ever though to look for, as I'm a fanatic of powdery/incense/amber/gourmand scents, everything that's the opposite of fresh, but I think I'm in love with it and it might find a place in my collection sometime in the future.

Imagine pouring fresh, fizzy, sweet lemonade into a glass full of roses, and you hear this hissing sound of the lemonade bubbles going pop-pop-pop, and then you feel the bubbles popping gently into your face as you get closer. That’s what the opening of this perfume feels like to me - very fresh and effervescent with a very soft presence of rose. After about five minutes the fizz goes and you have some barely noticeable sweetness left, all under this soft, fresh and creamy rose. And this stays on me with almost no change for the following 5-6 hours. I own a lot of Byredo perfumes, but this was the only one I’ve bought immediately after trying right there in the shop, and I have been wearing it for about a year now. I must admit, I did fall in love with Blanche from the first sniff too, but I took a while before I purchased it. PS: I get a lot of compliments when I wear this perfume, but recently I’ve experimented adding a spray of Magnifying Vanilla by Bvlgari to add a touch of sweetness (I normally use it to enhance some of the perfumes I wear). Let me tell you, this tiny touch of vanilla creates some kind of magic with this perfume - I’ve had people chasing me after I’ve passed them just to say how they loved the fragrance.

One of the most amazing perfumes for me! This rose is indeed young and beautiful! It is so airy and and delicious, but deep and seductive at the same time without being sweet. I guess it's the musk. I have so many perfumes but I rarely buy the 100 ml. bottle because it's not easy to take with you. But with "young rose" I had to buy the biggest bottle cause I spray even when I'm home, doing nothing, before bed etc... Byredo did a wonderful job with this creation! Lately I have discovered many of their perfumes that I love. On their website they state that this fragrance is naturally derived and indeed you can see that from the first second! There is no alcohol lingering before you can smell the actual notes. Young rose warms my heart and relaxes my senses... I find that it lasts longer on the clothes but I don't have a problem since rarely I want to be overwhelmed by my perfume. Byredo actually states that it has "delicate intensity", so you know what to expect in terms of performance. It definitely belongs to the category "your skin but better". I love it!

This and Pulp are the only Byredo frags that are worth a dam IMO. And they are worth a very significant dam. This is genuinely a really unique take on rose. I've never smelled a perfume like it. I usually avoid scents with too much rose because I find it overpowering and dated. This, however! Dang. It's so modern and green. A sweet frosty morning in your mum's garden - not something I would have immediately identified as rose. It's a rose bud about to bloom rather than a rose flower. Delicate, pretty, fresh, interesting and ageless. A teenager to a 90 year old would rock it. Iris is good in things - gives a nice sharp bitey green edge. The silage is actually existent here too, unlike some of this brand's purple ghostly, witchy watery nonsense. I hate to give Byredo anymore street cred, it doesn't need it. But this frag actually deserves the hype for once. Consider my hat eaten. For now.

Amazing new Byredo fragrance , I can’t get enough of it. If you like MUSK and rose you will love this. It’s one of the most musky perfumes I know. The Ambarette musk in the Top and the musk in the base wraps this rosy perfume in a ultra musky cocoon. It’s what I love about this. It’s completely unisex, in fact it could be the perfect rose for a man . Byredo has a winner here !! Yes it’s somewhat similar to MFK a la rose but yet it’s also quite different. This has much more musk , The pepper gives it more of a unisex vibe and yes it certainly worth to own both. I have both and find them quite different. With a slight similarity! It’s a musky warm fresh sexy smell ... yummm It’s no surprise that I love it as I love all the notes listed. Especially, rose , violets and iris and of course all sorts of musks are my favourite notes.

Quite the gem from Byredo. This is the first perfume I've ever considered buying a full bottle of. The name "young rose" is extremely accurate-- this does not evoke "grandma" like some other rose scents do. It opens with an explosion of pepper (love) and dries down to a linear rose. The best way I can describe the rose in this is that it's a dewy, pink rose rather than a deep red one. I love how fresh and zesty it is. My ex always thought I was wearing something with green apple when I wore this, which I understand, but I don't smell any apple personally (I think he couldn't otherwise articulate the pepper note). My only qualm is that it does not last very long on skin (think 2-3 hours). However, in my experience it lasts very long on clothing-- days even-- so I just spray on my shirt for maximum utility.

As soon as I smelled this, I had to purchased the 100ml bottle. It transported me back to growing up in Japan. So many of the shampoos and body care products I used there have this light, watery floral fragrance that is clean, dewy, and bright. It was an instant emotional response that brought so much joy and happiness to me. Young Rose has an effervescent quality to it with the sichuan pepper. The actual rose note makes me think of a rose bud with dew sitting on top of it - innocent and playful. The iris isn’t too heavy and lends the fragrance a softness to it, and the musk keeps it clean and fresh. Next time I go back to Japan to visit my parents, I will bring a travel size of this fragrance with me. Young Rose was an instant love for me and I will buy another bottle when my 100ml is finished. ❤️

I really fell in love with this perfume immediately. It is not a complex scent - it's just straight and sweet from start to finish. The scent reminds me a lot of skittles actually. It's really delicious and it's incredibly uplifting I look forward to spraying it. The only MAJOR downfall is that this perfume does not last at all. I'm talking about less than 40 minutes. You can only truly smell it for the first 5 minutes then after that you can only smell it if you are nose to wrist up to around 40 minutes. It's really such a shame because the scent is so wonderful but for the price tag it doesn't make sense to invest in a piece like this. I have the full bottle because I love the scent but I can barely smell it

After spraying this on my wrists and walking away, I felt like I was enveloped in a rosy, powdery, serene cloud. The name may be "Young Rose," but I can imagine this on women of all ages who want to feel refreshed (it skews feminine to me). It does remind me of "Possibilities," a rose scent Ann Taylor used to make that I wore in my early twenties, that gave me a feeling of youtfhful optimism while being elegant and polished. It also makes me think of a rosier, fruitier YSL Paris. In addition to the rose, I notice a pear-like fruity accord that brightens it, as well as an almost boozy effervescence. Nice!

I really try to avoid rose and Ambroxan and I would never be attracted to this perfume’s name or notes, I love it!! It is incredibly airy, shower fresh, clean, bright, and fruity. The overall vibe flirty, uplifting, and office (or school) appropriate. If I smelled this blind, I would never have guessed it had rose to be honest. I think there are citrus and berry notes that they aren’t listing. It smells incredibly similar to a Skintimate shaving gel I had in the early 2000’s that came in a pink can. Someone else has to know what I mean!

As someone who usually shies away from rose notes, this fragrance completely enchanted me. On my skin, it opens with a hint of candied lemon and rose in a Turkish delight/rosewater kind of way. There’s a dewy, almost airy quality to it, with a subtle powderiness that makes it soft. It wears as a light, fresh sweetness that isn’t cloying. Musk and ambrette gently round out the composition, adding depth without overwhelming it. The result feels both playful and sophisticated. I’m so glad I gave this perfume a chance despite the name.

Excuse me, why aren't people talking about this one more??? GORGEOUS!! I'm someone who is a bit hit or miss with rose but this one is absolutely lovely. Effervescent, sparkling, pink lemonade and rosewater concoction. The rose is the heart but it doesn't steal the attention from the other notes like it often does in other scents. The pepper notes create a lemony bright opening, and the overall vibe is sweet and refreshing. Perfect name for this fragrance.

This is a beautiful, peppery rose with a fresh, musky sweetness. It has a subtle soapiness that gives it a clean, “just out of the shower” feel. Light yet impressively long lasting, it projects beautifully without being overwhelming. Perfect for spring through early summer, though I can see it working well in early fall too. This is a great choice for those who struggle with rose fragrances, it’s neither powdery nor overly mature. Super easy to wear.

I always think I love this scent upon first spray, but after the initial dry down it unfortunately turns into an artificial citrus toilet cleaner smell on my skin. After about 3 hours this turns into a soft rose your skin but better scent. It’s a shame the opening is so harsh, because based on the notes I should have loved this! Definitely not a safe blind buy. Longevity is good btw, about 7-8 hours on wrists.

It took me some time to identify the fragrance profile I truly enjoy, and this one fits perfectly. On my skin, it opens with rose and Sichuan pepper, which likely accounts for the citrusy impression noted by other reviewers. As it settles, musk and amber emerge, creating a soft, comforting warmth. I do need to note that it does not change its smell on my skin - human blotter here ;)

As others have as already mentioned, I also smell a lot of fruity pear, berry and citrus. I can almost smell a raspberry creaming soda at first spray. It makes for a zesty, fresh and watery rose, perfect for those who are not usually into traditional more powdery rose fragrances. This is definitely more energising, rather than grounding. It may not be complex, but I really enjoy it.

This feels yummy. Rose is not powerful here but it is a very nice combination. It doesn't feel generic or cheap. Actually it is hard to say it is a rose fragrance if you are looking for a 'rose' fragrance. Anyway it still is a very nice fragrance that I want to add my wardrobe. Only problem is I felt like it faded it out little faster compared to other Byredo fragrances.

Smells like a literal young rose that hasn’t yet fully blossomed. This is zesty and fresh with a subtle hint of natural sweetness to round it out. It’s quite addicting. Only downside, you will need to overspray to get any decent projection and lasting power with this one. I love this fragrance and apparently so do those around me because it’s a compliment getter for me.

My go to perfume to wear during lectures or when I'm at campus in general. Even if you typically don't like rose fragrances, this is way more of a green, fresh and dewy rose fragrance. Super fresh and ozonic and definitely one of my favs from Byredo. The price is a bit much, but worth a try if you want to get into more rose fragrances.

as a man i find this scent unisex, more wearable than masculine roses such as amouage lyric and mfk homme a la rose smells like a fresh rose, from stem, leaves to petals ...the drydown i find it similar to lv imagination... green ,fresh out of the shower... doesnt smell old grandma or baby girl to me, any gender and age can wear this
