Black Dragon

#998 in my "Tour de Fragrance" Got this as a decant. This is a very fine note combination for men that leans tropical. Is it $233 for 75 ml nice? Not for me. But if I got it for Christmas I would damn sure wear it. I would pick this over the somewhat similar Dior Sauvage Elixir as the tobacco in this really adds something the Sauvage lacks. So there's that. And this is less per ml than Stephane Humbert Lucas 777 "God of Fire", the gold standard in mango scents, which is close to this. I have Lattafa "Asad" EDP ($24) which is in this ballpark. I also have Maison Alhambra "Salvo Elixir" at $19, which is a pretty damn good copy of Sauvage Elixir. So much so I won't be buying the Sauvage again. And I have Alhambra's "Sceptre Malachite" at $23 which is also kind of in this vein. So there are several low cost alternatives. This is certainly a great scent with great performance, and it's business and romance appropriate. Nothing here you won't love. But it's not a great price and there are very good less expensive alternatives. It's nice but not unique enough to get me to spend that much coin. So probably won't be an acquisition for me.

This one took me me a little while to understand. I think I was expecting something fruity-sweet and a lot of tobacco, spicy, with underlying sweetness and layer from the vanilla and musk. A spin off of Tobacco Vanille, Red Tobacco, Vanille Havane, Chimaera.... What I learned is Black Dragon was inspired by a cigar. I had to step away from this for a couple of weeks. When I revisited, wow. Black Dragon is actually quite sophisticated. It begins with a fruitiness balanced by Bourbon Vanilla (that gives a slight booziness). When the fruitiness dissipates, there is a beautiful powdery tobacco, vanilla, musk, and a slightly honeyed sweetness, just a touch- so you know it’s there. Dry down is gorgeous. Amber, vanillic, powderiness, with a lingering touch of tobacco like the caress of your lover that whispers across your skin and you will always remember. Don’t expect a dragon that burns your senses. Rather, experience the Dragon that will seduce you in an a breathy kiss.

Byron Perfumes are loud, in your face and unisex fragrances. But for this one I will say this barely scratches the unisex part, this leans mostly on the feminine side. That being said i love this scent, this smells like the fruit you find in a hotel buffet, but someone took the honey jar and drench the entire fruit with it. I also get this makeupy powdery sensation when wearing this fragrance. Projection and Performance are off the charts 8+ hours. Only drawback is that this is a cold weather fragrance, do not try it in the summer or it will smother you. If you are a man that can pull feminine scents this is a piece you must try.

This is a beautiful soft, tropical and somewhat powdery scent. I ordered the 15ml as a blind buy, and after one spray immediately put the full size in my cart. I was afraid this might lean masculine but it’s a feminine leaning unisex. This is so well blended I don’t detect patchouly at all. I was also a little afraid this would be a fruity punch in the face like an Escada fragrance. I like those, but this is completely different. It smells expensive. The mango in vanilla are the most prominent notes for me with the slightest touch of tobacco flower.

Absolutely LOVE this fragrance. So good! It's a sweet, fruity, (almost) effervescent syrup scent. It's so interesting and really really lasts awhile. I get about 5-8hrs out of it and the projection is fantastic for the first 2hrs or so. But after that, kind of hard to detect unless you are fairly close. But overall I'd say this scent profile is a solid 9/10. Super happy I was able to grab this for 1/2 the price also.

This is a really different scent. A honey tobacco with a solid dose of vanilla. It turns powdery with some leather or old study smell, I am not getting much fruit though. Totally unisex and really appealing. I don't like tobacco or honey scents usually but this is fantastic. The honey makes it sweet for sure but not over the top at all. Usually honey sends a perfume into a screeching sweet orbit to my nose.

Honey & tobacco flower are prominent, with a hint of mango and a subtle background of woody vanilla. Super powdery and dry. No weird notes or headache-y sweetness. Good projection but not a beast. I'm so addicted to smelling myself when I wear this. One of my favorites for warm weather.

Powdery, fruity, and sweet tobacco scent. The tobacco is NOT dominant at all, and just supports the other notes. Very sensual fragrance so its not going to fill a room. I have a preference towards sweet fragrances so, God, I'd love this on a man... Hell, even on a woman.

On me this scent is wonderful it’s different definitely stands out, you will get the fruit notes not real sweet but they are there, the base notes I really don’t detect but once again that’s on my skin. It is full bottle worthy.

This is really good. Honeyed tobacco with ripe mango. Very unisex. I think this would smell great on anyone. It leans tropical so I can't wait to wear it on a summer evening. It dries down to a powdery tobacco vanilla.

This is my favorite fragrance of 2021. It's fruity sweet patchouli scented tobacco with a tiny touch of leather. The tobacco note is realistic. Very unisex. Great silage and longevity.

Ohm... quite similar Piano Santal L'Orchestre Parfum when drydown. I think it's overpriced but luxury bottle and box quality. Exactly, it is "milky sandalwood".

To me, this smells like the way tiger's blood (the snow cone flavor) tastes. Editing to say no one in my family agrees with me. I think my nose is broken.

This is so incredible, creamy, and fruity, ahhhhh such yumminess in a bottle! Leans somewhat feminine but I can imagine this worn by a man, too!

This fragrance is not mind-blowing yet it opened a new door in my fragrance journey. This has to be my favorite interpretation of tobacco + honey so far. These notes can be quite particular and sometimes overbearing, but here they are sort of delicate. I appreciate how they are blended and balanced together, very pleasant. Rounded with smooth vanilla. The sweet, balmy mango adds some brightness, positivity, and uplifts the fragrance. I like the mixture of the slightly dark tobacco/honey accord with the sunny fruit note. I personally find the fragrance to lean feminine. It is different from what I have tried so far, but I wish it had a better performance. Longevity is average but the sillage softens too quickly. With all that being said, tobacco + honey is still not a combo that fits me, but I appreciate this scent !

It smells like dipping cigar into honey infused vanilla.the cigars didn't burn, so I still get the fresh swetness from tobacco .the vanilla almost milky but not lactonic.the honey notes slightly powdery.and the opening I'm not getting the tropical fruit,I get like lemon grass light spicy scent. It's reminded me slightly with winter palace from memo paris but in black dragon it's not prominent. Both men and woman can pull this off

To my nose it starts out like a honeyed powdery vanilla scent with hints of mango, and ends up like a musky clean sandalwoodish scent. Good longevity, leans slightly fem for me because of the powdery scent profile, but i still like it. I have the 15ml bottle just to try out the scent. Not sure if I will go for the 75ml, but it is a good quality scent.

Reminds me much of Feve Delicieuse by Dior with a bit of Naxos by Xerjoff. Tad bit powdery in a tonka way, a noticeable honey tobacco core, and slightly fruity nuance in the background. Very wearable and smooth for a tobacco fragrance!

Am I the only one that gets coconut? I shall write a review later, but I Get sweet coconut for now :/ and then the most photorealistic wet tobacco ever, like you just opened up a wrap of sheesha tobacco, the good stuff and smelled it.

Too much tobacco for me, a little bit too masculine. But it is perfect for layering with Mula Mula!! It gives to Mula Mula the darkness that It lacks, together they are divine 😇

sweet vanilla cream. almost chai ish

It's the '80s. You've just washed your hair with Breck shampoo and are chewing Juicy Fruit gum while walking through a classroom with a dusty chalkboard where someone burned incense yesterday. Soon, you're smelling a powdery faintly-mango mint, but then it turns into a creamy lotion. It's not for me, but it's interesting.

A strange concoction of notes, lots of comparisons spring to my mind, but none of them match Black Dragon well enough. I'm not sure if I like it, though. I'm sure that if I ever use up my 15ml bottle, I won't be looking for a full size.

I was very excited by the reviews below, but damn this caught me up by surprise. The closest reaction I got was from misswithoutlogic. The Scent is so, so powdery, and mainly fruity. I do not get at all the mentioned tobacco. It is fairly linear. After a few hours, sandalwood becomes more appearant, but the fragrance remains a powdery fruity concoction on me. It's ok, but not what I was expecting from the reviews and from the name "Black Dragon". Would be better of as "Miss Chameleon", with a tropical bottle and a lipstick kiss mark. If you, like me, are expecting a different twist on honey-tobacco, or vanilla-tobacco fragrances, stir away from it, as the tobacco is close to non existent.

Sweet and powdery, along the lines of Green Butterfly. Unfortunately another dud from Byron in my book.

I don’t normally post reviews. When I do, fragrance notes are typically not specifically mentioned. In the case of Black Dragon-total blind buy-it came out spicy and formed into a soft sweet powdery concoction on my skin- 1 spray!. I was quite pleased as I was concerned it would be to masculine leaning.

This is a gorgeous tobacco+honey fragrance. Unisex imo. More people should be talking about this one.
