Finding this little gem was a real challenge for me and finally it's here,as our wedding anniversary gift from my life's true love,I can't explain how much excited I am.. Initial spritz is bitter and sharp,it's like a chemical blast of amber,cherry and boozy notes but let it settle down and unfold it's notes,except first minute this is exactly what I've imagined Cacharel Gloria is a combination of cherry and almondy amaretto in a sweet,warm base of vanilla,Tonka and amber..it's very powdery in a unique way,it's bitter-sweet and really sexy..it's delicious but not in a childish cherry cake way,and it has an attractive spicy,woody undertone beneath it's soft sweet base that really appeals to me I can see why it's compared to cartier dragon,they don't smell the same,Gloria is waaay less woody,less boozy and also is the cherryish version of Dragon,and it's much more charming and more feminine Though cherry is mentioned as a base note,I smell it from the initial wiff but it calms down,almost fades away as it dries down. What lasts with me for hours is a soft powdery blend of vanilla, tonka,almond and a whisper of flowers, it's drydown is my favorite part and it's not a real oriental woody to my nose since it's not that woody(fortunately) I really try hard to not be a discontinue hype but this one is really amazing,it's a combination of my beloved notes,a true unique feminine scent, a stand out fragrance without being offensive,with great Longevity(sillage is moderate on me),it's a shame I can't use it freely because I'm already afraid of running out of it Cacharel is one of my favorite brands and I really wish that they bring this baby back..I'm sure there is a place in this huge world of perfumes for this little gem ❤❤❤❤ P.s: If you love fragrances with powdery almond and vanilla(comes to my nose as heliotrope) cherry,woods and pepper,this is the only choice that comes to my mind..there is no dupe as far as I know..nearest option is guerlain La petit robe noir edp,which has lots of cherry and vanilla and some almond and liquorice,but it's too much cherry dominant,medicinal in opening and too plain sweet in Drydown and there is no spicy,woodsy undertone,but it can fulfill some of gloria's need and is better than nothing.you also can try layering it with different perfumes Edit: Try layering guerlain La petit robe noir edp with mon guerlain,first time I did so Gloria was the first thing that came to my mind,first spray mon guerlain and give it some time to settle down, then apply la petit robe noir edp in smaller amount.Mon guerlain's drydown reminds me gloria's drydown

This is my all-time favorite fragrance. I first bought it in 2002, a few months after its release and I've been wearing it steadily ever since. It's really hard to describe this fragrance, one word that comes in mind is "unique", it's unlike anything else I've ever smelled and it definitely belongs to another era. I can definitely detect the fusion of amaretto and bulgarian rose at first sniff, later on the vanilla and pepper become more dominant and after a few hours you're left with an amazing combination of cherry, tonka bean and cedar. I would classify it in the oriental category, but at the same time it's pleasantly fresh and it's a fragrance that I feel can compliment women of any age (even teenagers - I was in high school when I first bought it). Maybe if it had been released in the early 90s, it would've been as huge as Dune. Together with the majority of the reviewers here, I honestly don't understand why and how this fragrance was discontinued. Cacharel has a number of completely forgettable fragrances, for example "Amor Amor" which is nothing special and has had almost 100 different re-releases, yet they couldn't hold on to "Gloria" which was definitely their finest creation and dare I say, Olivier Cresp's finest creation as well. I realized in 2005 that this had been discontinued, so I stocked up on a number of bottles and gift sets while it was still decently priced and not exorbitantly priced as it is now. Thankfully, I still have some left. I also own the green body mist, body lotion and the bath and body oil. The body lotion is divine in itself - if you manage to find a decently priced bottle, do yourself a favor and buy it, as it can definitely be worn on its own. The green body mist is nice, but definitely not worth the crazy expensive prices and the bath and body oil is kind of forgettable for me and it doesn't smell like the red EDT at all. Regarding dupes, I have tried lots of them in fear that someday I might finish my last bottle. I will say that Perfume Parlour's dupe of "Gloria" is very nicely done, definitely reminiscent of the original EDT, but not quite there yet. I will agree with reviewer Bokonon12 that there is no dupe for "Gloria" on the market right now and it's doubtful if we will ever have one, as this was a truly one of a kind, unique fragrance. Maybe the Fragrantica staff can ask Olivier Cresp about it in a future interview, he now has a line of his own and maybe he would be willing to re-create the original formula for the die-hard fans through his own line?? One can only hope...

I fell in love with this from a ‘peel & use’ sample in a magazine, head over heels with it I was. I bought a 30ml bottle and used to wear this in my teens to school & I had almost forgotten just how potent this was. I managed to find a decent sized bottle on eBay recently & received it today. I sprayed it & at first I got this horrendous rubber/medicinal/woody smell which was extremely unpleasant HOWEVER this is from 18 years worth of exposure to air (Gloria doesn’t have a cap). Definitely persevere with it though if you too are lucky enough to find a bottle because once that smell faded the fragrance I once loved started to shine through and I was immediately transported to when I was younger. The first spray must have cleaned the nozzle because on the second spray I got that delicious boozy amaretto & cherry that I remember. It then settles into the most wonderful & interesting floral marzipan fragrance. Absolutely stunning, so glad to have rediscovered her. Gloria is extremely heady & very strong to my nose so, definitely a cold weather/outdoor fragrance but to be used with a light hand even then. With two sprays my other half could smell it from half way across the room! I once wore this on a packed train in the middle of summer & it was just too much for me. Longevity is substantial on this beauty too. I also managed to get a bottle of the body mist, bath oil & body lotion. All have different fragrances that can either be used alone or to enhance different elements of the edt. I don’t ever remember there being an EDP, the edt was potent enough so I suppose an EDP would have suffocated customers 😅 Regarding alternatives: I have been recommended fragrances like Mon Guerlain & Kudos (formerly Gloriaas) by Perfume Parlour which is inspired by Gloria. I purchased a 30ml vapo of Kudos based on the reviews & I’d say it is far closer to Gloria than Mon Guerlain however, I find it to be more cedar-heavy in the opening & is less potent. Having said that, it is still a lovely perfume in and of its own right. I also have Mon Guerlain which is a far, far more floral & delicate take which makes it easier to wear, again a lovely fragrance.

I couldn’t believe my eyes when, last summer, I saw that thin violet box with “Gloria” written in silvery rose while taking a look through the showcase of a little perfume shop in San Marino Republic... all I could do was, in this order: enter, asking the sale assistant for a try (directly from the only bottle available for sale) and make it mine! No sane perfume lover, mostly if obsessed with creamy and gourmandish things, would have let this gem all alone in that shop. Probably that was (and will remain) the best scented deal of my life: less than 25 Euro for 30 ml bottle of a rare fragrance is not bad at all I think. A festive, warm and gently boozy note of Amaretto takes me through a masterfully done blend of the most appealing notes a female fragrance could contain, such as powdery almonds and ripe juicy cherries, while the quiet but noticeable woody notes start to caress me and soften the creamy sweetness into kind of a body lotion feeling on skin... on and on until I get to the comforting but still opulent ambery and slightly spicy drydown, soft and sensual like a wintery evening date while it's snowing outside... What amazes me in Gloria is that everything in it feels so right in its place, unique, friendly but straightly romantic and allusive too... just like a wonderful looking person who is surprisingly humble, kind and down-to-earth but still he sends pleasant shivers down your spine. I must confess the fact this perfume is discontinued and adored by so many Fragranticans influenced me a bit in the purchase’s choice, but I would be truly ungracious to this Beauty if I didn’t describe it as one of the greatest fragrances I’ve encountered so far. One perfect gourmand woody oriental, if such a category existed. Gloria is more than a scent to me... it’s a love desire, a hymn to cuddling moments with someone special for you, a feminine potion for seductiveness and grace, a place where you can still dream undisturbed... Cacharel please, please.... You know what you should do :)

Gloria was discontinued. It belongs to a different era. It was an era, not so far ago, when mainstream perfumes were still perfumes in themselves, not just water with some mix of flavours. It was not love for me then, but it would be now after all these years of confusion. There is a sort of coherence in these older scents as if they were made with a purpose or at least a clear idea in mind. Who knows I will think the same in ten years about nowadays designer scents? I kept a few samples and they still smell fresh and delicious. The perfume itself is very strong, luscious and sweet without being candish. It's made of different impressions and accords put together. The Woody part is a wonderful strong creamy luscious heavy but never harsh base for the rest of the simphony. It's very down-to-earth and thick yet balanced. Amaretto, White pepper and tonka are very dominant. Gloria is one of those epithomes of feminity that were the trademark of those years. Not an easy one to wear carefully, but one you could make friends in time and become fused with it. It is a gourmand indeed, sickening for some at that time, not knowing what would come next generation of sweet, but a great job of daring perfumery. It is very longlasting and it keeps projecting and changing for hours on skin. They also made a body oil that was to-die-for, still Gloria in a different nuance, quieter and more milky with a cereal edge that reminds a bit of Jil Sander Sensation. The body mist was a fresher take on the theme and highly wearable in hot weather. I was never a total fan of Cacharel fragrances because all of them have some ingredient that become dirty on my skin like b.o. Gloria was no exception for me. Not sure waht was others's feeling about the b.o. part. I received a lot of compliments wearing this and some shy complaints. So sad it was discontinued. Other Cacharels smell just meh and cloying compared to this.
