Nemo

One of my all time favorite designer fragrances, period. This is a fairly unique blend of warm spices, lavender, woods, resins, florals, and leather that is seemlessly blended, and I mean SEEMLESSLY. This hails from ye olden days of perfumery, before all this "Santal & Vetiver" or "Oud & Rose" nonsense. You are presented a luxuriously spiced accord in which only a few notes in particular stand out, revealing themselves more and more as the fragrance evolves. In the opening, I predominantly get a bright (I almost describe it as "holographic") lavender, deftly woven with cardamom, nutmeg, and "betel pepper" (whatever that is). The opening is ever-so-slightly fresh, aromatic, and what could even be described as "blue" before "blue" came about. However as time goes on, the aromatic nature of the opening subsides and is superceded by the warm richness of the heart and base. The woods, vanilla, resins, and leather come to the fore, though the lavender still "glows" gently through the haze, the beating heart of the fragrance. Hours and hours later, you get wafts of warm, spicy, vanillic lavender deliciousness as the fragrance enters its long drydown. This is an absolutely wonderful, versatile, longlasting, and compliment getting fragrance that could easily be released today and STILL be a hit. It hardly smells dated at all to my nose, despite drawing comparisons to other warm-spicy classics from the 90s and early 2000s. Yes, it does smell like Viktor&Rolf Antidote (or rather, Antidote smells like Nemo), but Antidote is markedly dryer, more powdery, and more incense-based than Nemo. When I smell Antidote I imagine an aristocrat going to the opera, or perhaps an alchemist scrounging for secrets in dusty tomes. Nemo is far more easy-going, casual, and friendly than Antidote imo, though I wouldn't say that either is superior. I do get shades of Gucci Envy, D&G By Man or even D&G Pour Homme, but Nemo stands apart, in my humble opinion. Performance is exceptional, though not too loud or obnoxious; you simply have a perfect scent bubble around you with arm's length sillage that lasts throughout the day. The presentation is super unique and interesting, one more relic of a more adventurous and creative time, when companies were willing to take risks in order to make something truly special and memorable. I cannot fathom (heh) why this fragrance was discontinued by Cacharel. This is stunning stuff that is worth seeking out, even if you never smelled it in the past (I surely didn't, and I love it all the same). Nemo is yet another reminder of the beauty and quality that designer houses were capable of producing just 20 years ago. I cringe every time I spray it on (I just have a 30ml bottle), but I simply can't help myself, especially when the leaves begin to change and the air is crisp. This is one of those perfect fragrances to spray on when you're suited and booted for the cold and ready for a night on the town. 10/10, for me.

Nemo was a fragrance I never owned back in the 2000's not because I didn't like it as such but just because my collection was much smaller and less speculative than it is now, coupled with the fact that this just doesn't stand out all that much. Well that's in hindsight because things that I liked back then, I love now in comparison to the general sorry landscape of men's designer releases. I'm not one of these people who is constantly looking back and banging on about 'vintage'. I very much embrace the future and I'm broadly optimistic about it, however Nemo is one of those ordinary releases that seems like some searing work of genius now. So to me it's a soft woody, spicy take on lavender, Immediately reminiscent of Boucheron (I didn't look before noticing this by the way and when I did it turned out to be the same perfumer! boooya!) Comparisons would be Gucci Envy, By D&G, Dreamer even (This guy did the original Dreamer too) and also Floris Santal, Moubousin homme, Lalique Equus & Homme, basically loads of 90's and early 2000's stuff. It has a hazy sandalwood/cedar aspect with muskiness and an unmistakable smooth nutmeg underpinning it then the waft of lavender over the top. It's lovely. Nemo is really lovely, lasts very well, and smells just right. This is not as out there as stuff like Eden and Lou Lou both very polarising and Then there's the bottle. Either love it or hate it you can't deny that it's an talking point. Also perhaps one of the most ergonomically satisfying bottle fitting perfectly in your hand to the point a creationist would deem it to be created by intelligent design. Nemo *is* intelligently designed right down to the ball bearing supplied separately in the box to push into place and activate your purchase. A modern classic this one.

This is my absolute favourite, however I rarely use it, since it's so special and very rare now. When it was released I didn't care much about it, first impression was not magnefic and the name was off putting for me. I guess the name NEO instead of NEMO would have been better. But later it grew on me. The bottle is absolutely amazing, carefully designed and structured, even the spray button is special as it is a metal ball that spins. The reason why this amazing product was discontinued I think is due to its expensive production cost and it didn't sell that well to raise satisfying profit. It's clear that the bottle was very expensive to produce (next to a simple Chanel bottle) and the juice is of high quality nevertheless. It wasn't that popular to hold up the cost of production. Anyway, Nemo was still a very special release, just take a look at the promo pictures, watch the very expensive and also very impressive video ad (I love it!), the bottle, and the fragrance itself. It's not a playful scent I admit. It's a slightly (not cloying at all!) sweet, and very deep woody and spicy fragrant compositon. I don't know yuzu but if that's what makes the opening so "bright" I would love it. But in general, it makes a masculine and even mystical impression (not because of the inscence). They will never bring it back, I'm sure. Nemo was too sophisticated for mass consumption. Some say that Allure is a bit similar to Nemo but I tell you that I don't find them similar at all, Allure can't be used to replace Nemo at all, they are very different!

It's a perfume so hard to describe! Let's start with the bottle, very particular, certainly not go unnoticed, a big Y, it almost looks like an Indian Totem, with the chrome ball-shaped spray, marbles so fashionable in the 90s. I always wanted to smell it but I never had the opportunity, then seeing the prices on the internet I had to wait for the deal to make it mine. I remember that in the commercial there were so many guys, so I always imagined it as a perfume for the young age but I was wrong, this is a great perfume wearable by everyone. This fragrance has different elements, but the one that stands out the most are the spices, it opens with pepper, a lot of nutmeg, lavender and leather, a sort of mineral notes, accompanied by woody hints, with a very "classic" and solid base, made from cedar and patchouli. The modern intro blends in great with the base, the spices, the floral sweetness and the sea breeze very well accompany the final woodiness, making it a unique perfume. Sweetness reminds me a little of JPG hurts. I have to say a lot about the 2000s, especially the opening brings to mind the videos on MTV, the first CompactDiscs, the first mobile phones, the boyband, the first videogames. Average projection and longevity, a beautiful sweet, sticky and basically aquatic essence remains on the skin. Today it is unacceptable, if you find it as a remnant in some store, buy it without delay, I recommend, those with the Y shape Rated 8.5 / 9

I adore this scent! A charming, stylish smell with a lovely urban feel. It's a nice blend of pepper, lavender, nutmeg, cedar, a soft note of leather and cardamom. It's an autumn-winter fragrance, a relaxed walk in the city during the late afternoon. It reminds me the mood of the song "english man in New York". So it's not your super sweet Cologne, nemo is rich, spicy and sexy in its own way. To me this is one of the best colognes of the new century. Good performance, for people over 28, wearable in every situation. If you love the colognes of the early 00 grab it if you can, it deserves! Secondo me Nemo è uno dei migliori profumi dal 2000 ad ora. Lavanda, cardamomo, noce moscata, cedro, pepe... tutto ciò regala un profumo elegante ma non serioso, speziato ma con garbo. Se amate i profumi di quel periodo è un acquisto molto consigliato. Ha un' anima urbana, sa di una camminata nel tardo pomeriggio di novembre. Tuttavia al porto di Tricase o Leuca ho visto dei frangiflutti con la stessa forma della bottiglia...a me ispira la canzone di Sting " english man in New York". I am just getting around to trying this, I can see the similarities to midnight in paris but I would have to say on first sniff I would rate this as a higher love for me.. this is a wonderful fragrant scent. I think this would work well in close quarters, I would put this on my romantic shelf..so much warmth.. really liking this, at first I get the sweetness but some spicyness that soon follows the opening of this. that is what I love about this site. I tried this based on the reviews on this page.. tried two new fragrances this week and both were positive hits for me. this one to me is not age specific I do see it as a more mature type of fragrance maybe someone who has been around the block a couple of times but this would smell wonderful on anyone who would chose to wear it.. I have seen some smaller bottles that I could try and will probably do that, as it looks as though the larger sizes are climbing in price, not sure where the retail point was on first release, this reminds me of the pure malt craze . I got this sample from the perfumed court as I was curious. glad I did, but like everything else, my timing was off.

I am a woman and usually not fond of typically male perfumes on myself. But I remember testing Nemo by chance soon after it came out, I think because the bottle intrigued me. And I instantly fell in love with it, bought the bottle and wore it more or less every day. It's an exciting, spicy scent that on me changed its character quite remarkably throughout the day, going from spicy-fresh to a mellow, woodsy vanilla, from brash and bold to subtle, almost subdued. Not just in the usual way a perfume progresses from top- down to the base note, but almost like changing moods, full of energy when the day begins, then settling into an encouraging familiarity, and ending in a relaxing but still strong presence. And equally alluring in all its stages. At the time, this fragrance was me, a signature if ever there was one. But eventually, I drifted off towards a new fragrance and forgot about Nemo. I think I must still have half of the second bottle somewhere. It's a shame that it was discontinued. It certainly deserves to still be around.

Before "I'll be missing you" there was "I'll be watching you"! Nemo is what the Police is to Puff Daddy. Nemo is that song that some newly-hatched musician/DJ/rapper/singer sampled and all the young kids love it and go crazy and give him "mad props" for creating a masterpiece but when you tell them that what makes the song so "cool" is an old classic they look at you like you're an alien. Go to any of the Spicebomb fans out there and ask them if they've heard of Nemo. Most of the time they'll ask you if you're talking about Jules Verne. :D Mark my words- Cacharel Nemo is the blueprint for Spicebomb by Viktor and Rolf and even though I love both, Nemo is a higher quality, more refined fragrance in my humble opinion.

All I have left of Nemo is an almost empty 50 ml bottle from 2003. The perfume is still incredibly potent and as intoxicating as I remember it. Nemo is a delicate balance of woods and aromatics. The cedar and the leather is what makes it deeply masculine. The fragrance itself is quite linear, it is an honest scent from start to finish and it does not disappoint. It conveys class, mystery, finesse and confidence. It can be dressed up, dressed down or even undressed. It can be a leisure fragrance, a work fragrance, it is highly sensual, gets tons of compliments. It is also discontinued. Edit: Got a brand new 50 ml bottle of eBay from an early 2000 batch. Incredible scent. So happy I can wear this again.

I initially ordered a small sample of this one (together with a gift for my wife) because I really couldn't find it locally to buy....NOW (05.11) I have a large bottle and I couldn't be more happy. It has a very spicy top with strong cardamom & lavender and also a bit smoky-sweet (nutmeg). After 1 hr it settles down to a flowery-resiny middle, one of the best, still peppery-spicy, evolving in 2-3 hrs in a wonderful warm & incensy base aroma that stays like this at least 6 hrs on my skin. I partially agree with 'jasonx': it is only little resembling to V&R's Antidote, but with a heavier/spicier overall feeling, and mostly much better & natural done. My rank 10/10 - in my top 5 all times. ☣☣☣☣☣

The opening of Nemo is outstanding. Think about Ferragamo Uomo x Trussardi Inside for men. Gourmand chocolate nutmeg and leathery at its best. 20 minutes later, despite all the complex notes listed on Fragantica, the combination smells like one thing in general - that is PINE. Caraway, lavender, and cedar are quite prominent too. It is true that it smells a little barbershop-ish in the drydown. It is very similar to Knize Forest, only a little more rounded and smooth. Knize Forest is the raw and untamed one. It is worth having if you ever come by Nemo. Longevity is great, silage is just as wonderful. -AB-

Nemo, I found the papers, and I must say I was intrigued that advertising does very much.After some time I decided to buy the 30 ml while not knowing the fragrance, was one of the few that I bought at random, but are was lucky. opening fresh and spicy astounding, while the solid core and dense leaves the place in line at the leather patchouli and vanilla. Vibrant and hypnotic, the effect is the Pied Piper of Hamelin the same combination with music, 100 steps to the right 100 and left again do the leak turnaround attentive to the river ... UNFORGETTABLE longevity +8 fragrance+10 package +10

I just received my beloved bottle after long time of waiting , i am surprisingly in love with this fragrance it touch the soul by how well done it is , i relax senses by how warm and soft it is , i expected having sandal wood in it , but it is not there . really they should revive this jewel , it has the soul of Gucci Rush . I feel Lucky having it :):):)

An amazing dry, spicy blend. Cardamom and nutmeg hits you hard. Leather and flowers. A hint of smoke maybe from the leather. A bit sweet but in the background. Solid longevity, highly complemented great projection. With a very unique bottle. Nemo is an oriental, spicy discontinued gem.

My all time favorite fragrance. To bad it is no longer in production. Bought an unopened 50 ml bottle of ebay. It smells legit, but the juice is just too old (17 years). It does not smell good anymore. Now I just keep it as a reminder of better fragrance-times. 10/10

this, ladies and gentleman, is one of the best spicy lavender fragrance ever created. Bottle might be looks whimsical but the juice, fresh spicy leathery handsomeness with very distinctive regression from one layer to another. if you happen to find one, don't let go

There is not much leather to me here, rather a very dirty, almost animalic patchouli and a good spicy dash of peppers. Highly classy, rugged and even naughty. Dry down similarities with Lagerfeld Man (2003) but Nemo is way more versatile! Superb fragrance!

I will never understand or get over the fact that this fragrance was discontinued. Nemo was the best cinnamon/warm spices fragrance ever. It is so well done and unique, that I havent managed to find anything similar to it.

Nemo by Cacharel was a legacy that a friend left me--he died a couple of days ago. Of course, this is not the best way to get a perfume, but I thank him very much for giving me such a gift! This perfume opens with sparkling notes of nutmeg, cardamom, and pepper, plus a little lavender that does not smell like the eighties aromas but smells very dynamic and modern, instead. There is a soft sweetness somewhat reminiscent of Envy for Men, but it is softened by caraway and geranium, thus avoiding highly sweetened accords. The floral notes are not so noticeable, but they do balance the composition of the perfume. Wood and leather are the ingredients that strengthen the masculinity of the fragrance. In terms of performance, Nemo de Cacharel offers moderate duration (like 6 to 7 hours) and provides moderate projection and sillage. I had the impression that it was very similar to Envy for Men, but today I sprayed some on my right arm and I realized that it turns to a very different direction. Perhaps the notes in common such as cardamom, leather, pepper, and others gave me that first impression. Actually, there is no fragrance it resembles, although at times it evokes the smell of other perfumes I have known. It has some traces of dehydrated fruit with leather, spices, and subtle woods. Its aroma is very pleasant and has good seductive potential. It works best in cool climates and seasons, particularly at night. Nemo by Cacharel is a very special jewel that was taken out of the shelves due to incomprehensible reasons. Many might wonder, "Is it worth it to pay so much money for a full bottle?" Only if it's your favorite perfume and you are a die-hard fan of it, in addition to having the money. Here goes my score: Fragrance: 9/10 Longevity: 7/10 Sillage: 7/10 Projection: 7/10 Versatility: 8/10 Average: 7.6/10 PS.: Rest in peace, dear José.

Nemo... meaningful name (and meaningful model), ugly bottle, beautiful scent. Guess? They discontinued, of course. Nemo was one of the few male colognes I could stand when it came out. It was a complete scent. Nothing brainbrashing approach, nothing screamy, no "sporty" edge (for what that means), no silly acquatic edge turning putrid on skin like your home organic trash, no pretention. Almost naif, both jus and presentation, but what a treat it was for my feminine nostrils to smell it on a male skin, better if a beloved one, of course. My enthusiasm was not totally shared by the wearer, who moved to something more "in the stream" after Nemo, something he could show the name in clubs to teenage girls in search of rich guys. Who cares? Nemo was a spicy honest pleasure and was not expensive. Lots of spices of the pepper type, caraway, carnation, geranium and leather, but never choking leather. And labdanum to make everything a little rounder still very warm and masculin. I knew nothing about labdanum then, not even its existence, but Nemo took me regardless of names and lab-labels. Longlasting and average sillage at the fraction of the price of recent ones, poor in the composition but glued to skin with Vynavil, like their female counterparts. Gone.

Spicy, slightly sweet and woody... When you first smell it, you wouldn’t believe this was released more than 20 years ago – this could be a recent release from today by e.g. Rochas or even Tom Ford. To me, it is actually divided into three nicely distributed parts : the spicy opening with lavender, cardamom and nutmeg – the semi-floral heart with pepper, caraway and spices – and finally the lovely base with patchouli, creamy woods and what seems to be incense, probably due to labdanum. If I had to do any comparisons, I’d say it reminds me of a slightly sweeter version of the (also discontinued) Antidote by Viktor & Rolf which seems heavily influenced by Nemo but with a different opening as mentioned above instead. The overall composition of notes is mixed so seamlessly that you have to be impressed, great job Msr. Bethouard ! The bottle is a piece of art in itself - or at least very unique !

Really sad this one is discontinued. The bottle is really unique, with this metal ball for the vapo, in a translucent opaline maroon glass. The juice is mysterious but easy to wear. IMHO this is not a revolution, nor a truly masterpiece, but it is very nice and comforting. I get a lovely blend of woods and incense, with a touch of spices, in a really natural way. I try to keep my bottle full and use it sparingly, but The longevity and sillage are average.

smells very very classic. A barbershopy classic. Can hardly get the leather. The lavendar is blended the classic way they used to blend lavender in 90's fragrances. Mature. I see it more on someone in his mid-30's or 40 years of age. But overall I'm glad that I have this rare one in my collection.

I found this really enjoyable through the opening hour or so. The lavender and spice is what it’s all about on me. After that hour it became pretty non descript and I was disappointed, especially after reading that several users get longevity and transformation into a different type scent. I resprayed several times and if I could get more of what it smells like in the beginning, then it would be worth buying. As it stands my sample is enough.

I find this fragrance very overrated. It's been done many times. A resiny start - fir balsam with a slight mint-caramel note, (think of those british Everton mint toffee sweets). Then it turns into pencil shavings... That's it. Similar to Boss Elements. Nothing special for me.

Arid like a desert dune. No round angles here. Not my cuppa but brave and unique.

So check this out, I was driving around trying to avoid the usual traffic jams and suddenly I pass this old fragrance shop that looked like the dust and interior were in a harmonious relationship, embracing each other as good friends. At this point a fraghead gotta do what a fraghead gotta do, right? Park yourself illegally, enter the shop and look for hidden treasures! So after 5 minutes I immediately spotted a brown item with the word 'Nemo' engraved on it. Turns out to be the showergel, not the biggest treasure but sure, why not! The very friendly -but older lady- told me she's not supposed to have it anymore so if I want it's mine for 5 euro. Hmmm, let me give that some serious thought. After a nanosecond I went to the counter (I was already a very happy customer at this point) and she suddenly reminded that there was a tester bottle somewhere hidden below all that dust. Do I want it? Let me give that another elaborate thinking process.. 2 nanoseconds later I ended up with a showergel and a 100ML tester bottle for 5 euro. Thank you traffic jam! What? You want to read about the scent? Well, it's very similar to V&R Antidote in the dry down in my opinion. The dry down is very quickly achieved so more or less you are wearing a better version of antidode for it's entire life span, which is quite good. You can easily count +6 hours for this on skin and longer on clothing. I wouldn't say it's a very loud fragrance though, projection is average. Nemo starts sweet and spicy but evolves to a spicy woody base thanks to the labdanum driven injection. The vibe is a kind of wet yet slightly sweet scent trail. I'm not it's biggest fan but I can imagine that Nemo was used as a baseline for other more recent releases. There is just something very familar about it so due to this reason I wouldn't call it unique, or at least not anymore. Compliment factor? Upon a few wearings the only one who complimented me was my 9 year old son. Take it for what it's worth. I'll conclude that Nemo is a great find for me, not the greatest fragrance on earth yet very admirable and worth having in my collection and that there is hope for my son.

Much more interesting on paper than on skin, this composition, as has already been said, has no rough edges, nor overly sweet or tart or dry qualities... It's almost perfectly balanced and blended not to "shine" any particular element (although lavender, nutmeg and leather noticeably stand out from the rest of the notes). That being said, for me the positives attributes before mentioned are somehow also its own flaws... don't get me wrong, it's an excellent scent that screams quality all over the place, but on my skin it remains 'muted' and quite soft on performance hence it doesn't excite me so much as I expected. Maybe that's my own fault: haunting these somehow rare fragrances gets me hoping to be 'blown away' and when it doesn't happen well, it's kind of a dissapointment. Anyway, this scent is suited for the ones looking for a kind of spicy/barbershop/leather theme with a contemporary twist, willing to pay kind of high prices for a designer but recieving great quality on reward. -------------------------------------- Mucho más interesante sobre el papel que sobre la piel, esta composición, como ya se ha dicho, no tiene bordes ásperos, ni cualidades demasiado dulces, agrias o secas... Está casi perfectamente equilibrada y mezclada para que no "brille" ningún elemento en particular (aunque la lavanda, la nuez moscada y el cuero se destacan notablemente del resto de las notas). Dicho esto, para mí los atributos positivos antes mencionados son de alguna manera también sus propios defectos ... no me malinterpreten, es un excelente aroma que grita calidad por todos lados, pero en mi piel permanece bastante 'callado' y suave en el rendimiento, por lo tanto no me emociona tanto como esperaba. Tal vez sea culpa mía: obsesionarme con éstas raras fragancias me genera la expectativa de que me "vuele la cabeza" y cuando no sucede bueno, es como una especie de decepción. De todos modos, esta fragancia es ideal para aquellos que buscan un tipo de aroma especiado, de barbería y cuero con un toque contemporáneo, dispuestos a pagar precios algo altos por un diseñador pero recibiendo una gran calidad en recompensa. 8/10

Finally got around to trying Nemo, which I'd been wanting to do for a long time. It's certainly hard to find, especially considering the small but devoted cult following it seems to have on various fragrance sites across the internet. So, before I dive into my review, I'll just give you a summary ahead of time: I like it. A lot. Does that mean I LOVE it? Well, I'd have to try it some more. So far, though, I really do enjoy Nemo. Basically, on my skin, Nemo is a lush, heady incense fragrance. I don't get any particular kind of incense, but it smells high quality, not like a head shop or anything. The incense is boosted by two accords - first, a somewhat medicinal camphoraceous accord, which lasts for about half of the fragrances lifespan, and then a rich lavender accord which stays for the entire trip. The lavender and incense combination bring Nemo, at least on my skin, in the neighborhood of... Antidote! That's right, Nemo, at times, reminds me of Antidote by Viktor & Rolf, but since Nemo came first, I guess I should say that Antidote reminds me of Nemo! Despite these similarities, though, I'd say there's something in Nemo that makes it just... better. That camphor-esque accord I get is to die for, and the entire thing is just more lush than most incense fragrances in general. On my skin I'd say it lasts about 7 hours at the most, but for the entire time the projection is quite strong, so heavy application is not necessary. I'll definitely be buying a bottle of this soon, what a shame it was discontinued!

I bought this fragrance back in the early (2000)nd as I loved the smell of the scent. and also it came close to the nearest smell of the iconic (Donna Karan)fragrances for men called Fuel or Unleaded witch had been discontinued back in the middle to late (90st. this fragrance I found to be very warm spicy and came out quite powdery on my skin but not to overpowering. it just had the right balance of ingredients. I did however manage to purchase it in the first stages not so long after it had got discontinued but these days it is so difficult to find and very rare. I usually work within the fragrance sector selling Bespoke fragrances and have been doing so since (1998). but if I am right in remembering it was the French cosmetics giant L'Oreal who used to distribute Cacharel fragrances back then and still probably doing so as well as distributing other well known designer brands under their umbrella. the fragrance bottle always reminded me like a catapult for some reason a it resembled that although you sprayed out of one end of the bottle. this was a contemporary cult fragrance for men back in the (90ts)and sadly gone. the nearest fragrance today witch comes close to Nemo is (Varartos by John Varartos) the very first fragrance in his range he launched back in (2005) or maybe (2006). or (Donna Karan) (Fuel for men) witch was re-launched about seven years ago by Estee Lauder designer brands.

I have no idea why I gravitated towards this, honestly probably the shape of the bottle from photos I saw online. I was a little younger when I got it, but I don't use it very often now. The juice smells blue-green overall; leafy but instead of like soil, more sugary, very safe, synthetic and fresh. There is the mysteriousness of it, too. Possibly due to the spicy flavors. It is a fresh spicy oriental, with cousins readily available from almost any perfumer. Nemo made me wonder though: what does a Betel leaf note smell like? A fragrance possibly inspired by the recreational use of the plant in Asia? Hmm... I've never come across Betel leaf, but I'm certain it must have a distinctive flavor. Plants from which narcotics are derived often seem to have very distinct and interesting scents: coffee, tobacco, marijuana, poppy (seeds), tea etc... I can easily imagine wearing a perfume decades from now that will fully take advantage of these scent profiles without being too provocative. Nemo could be an optimistic late 90's vision of that oriental, narcotic utopia?

Another example what a superb house Cacharel used to be. Almost 30 years after their launch of the brilliant Cacharel pour Homme, Nemo was a venerable addition to their men's fragrances - and at the time and still now, there's just nothing quite like it - such dense yet not heavy constructions seems to have been lost in the years this came out. Nemo is pure timbre, klangfarbe, so much is going on there that it keeps on being hard to put one's finger down what it smells like - to me, one of the highest arts in perfumery. Maybe one could see traces to Romeo Gigli's Uomo in there and certainly considering it as the prequel to Comme des Garçons Inscent Series. In any way, it's gone, the production of the bottle alone must have made a continuation implausibly, the general decision making amentia in some main stream houses what might be a good perfume and what not, likely did the rest.

This is a good one. The opening is definitely spicy and aromatic. The lavender is quite noticeable and gives it a slightly sweet edge while the nutmeg and perhaps cardamom add an almost tangy texture to the scent. The heart becomes slightly floral as well with the lavender poking through. The blending is exquisite and it has faint traces of something powdery, though nothing too crazy. It's just balanced very well in my opinion. The scent becomes darker as time goes on with the leather and woods more pronounced. I would classify this as a spicy woody scent. Released in 2000 but I have to say still smells quite modern for its age. Performance is decent and it's suitable to wear during any season, except maybe very hot summer days. Would make a great signature type scent. I'm not sure why they discontinued it, but it's one of those great, forgotten scents. Unique bottle. 8/10

This is a creamy type of fragrance, without much note separation, though there's an herbal/woody element that seems to be trying to force its way out. It's at least a little sweet and could get cloying, but I think that what prevents this one from becoming irritating is good quality ingredients, unlike several similar fragrances that came later. You either like this scent or you don't. I don't think it's the kind of fragrance that you can learn more and more about over time, so sample first. After perhaps four hours it became a skin scent, but I only sprayed once. If you like this I suggest you hunt down a bottle because it's the kind of designer fragrance you may not experience again in your lifetime, since ingredient quality is such an issue these days and niche companies don't seem interested in creating scents like this (or don't know how to do it).

A bold fragrance for men. Nemo is sweet but with a very edgy, urban grittiness. Nemo's labdanum note is wet, earthy, and vegetal. Almost metallic. As it dries down, you are able to smell caraway, pepper, and understated vanilla. The spicy notes in this fragrance typically would not be paired with leather, which makes Nemo very novel and fresh. The composition is in a similar vein to Midnight in Paris and Bvlgari Black Nemo's bottle is handsome, particularly in the largest 3.4 oz size, where the minimalist sapling-like bottle grows into a mighty tree. For as bold and edgy as this scent is, it would make sense for it to have a larger sillage than it does. This discontinued fragrance seems to be disappearing as we speak, although there are still a handful of reasonably-priced bottles on eBay. Pretty soon you'll have a hard time Finding Nemo! Har har.

I had never give attention to this frangrance until one of frangrantica reviewers with more than 300 perfumes in his collection mention it as his signature scent. I luckily found it laying on a small cosmetic shop shelve and blind bought it because it was discontinued a long time ago. I was a litle bit afraid because the shape of the bottle and the face of the Young men in the advertisment make me believe that it was for younger people.When i smell it i was thrilled how amazing and mature it was. One of the best in my collection.Truly unique and complex with exceptional quality. Iam trying to understand why this this perfume didn't became a best seller and the only reason i found is that its advertisment was a big mistake.Instead of a girly good looking 20 y.o. men a confident mid age men would be the most appropriate.

I used to think this is too spicy to take.maybe it was because of the publication pic,showing a young man,with black long hair and red skin.actually it's better than the publication.it starts with soapy strong notes,which will fade away easily and become mild.it's a bit spicy and woody,but very mild that can be smelled hardly!but it doesn't fade away.it reminds me jungle,fresh woods and making fire for lunch.I can suggest the name "survive".but now that it wants to be the brother of Noa,the smelling is very similar,but the bottle is so different.

I bought a 100ml bottle of this but I have to say I'm not that impressed with the scent considering the very high price I paid for it . The scent isnt bad but it is very familiar to me I'ts like Juicy Couture 'Dirty English ' but with an added sweetness. I do like the bottle shape but the scent on its own isnt something I would normally wear . I might spray this on with Dirty english to add a sweetness that the latter lacks .

I have nemo , and have also bogart reviera nights with Michael for men by Michael Kors and Davidoff silver shadow ., they all close to each other , very close (reviera little bit fresher , Michael little bit sweeter) , so let that fu***kin highly priced nemo , and try to catch reviera nights or Michael for men before they gone , even thay in the vibe of jean paul gaultier kokorico, but koko heavier or boosier .

A very interesting scent... At the same time, it's so modern AND unusual. I'm 100% positive that it could be a hit perfume (almost like Bleu de Chanel and other 'modern classics') if released today. It's so unfortunately that Cacharel discontinued it :( Still, good for me: I got a vintage bottle of it today. Bad luck for everyone else in my city, as it is almost unique here.

I think and feel that this is the best fragrance I ever had. It is got an alluringly lingering aura and the 'pinewoody' aroma makes it just loving for me. Unfortunately I have only one bottle and have failed to get another! What I have is just about run out and it comes out only on very very special occasions. Well.......................

This is one of the Frags that I have which is an actual original formulation and I can tell the difference between Nemo and some of the catastrophic re-makes I own Its sticky and dry at the same time and quite heavy when its gets hot so I suggest evenings or cold weather.
