Caesars Man

Picked this up not too long ago (the reformulated version) after hearing some talk about it and to be honest... I think it’s more relevant in this day and age than the fragrance that inspired it, Drakkar Noir. This is actually one of the more palatable ways to dip your toes into classic men's fragrances. This perfectly walks the fine line of vintage and modern without dipping its toes too much in either side. The bottle itself is more intriguing in my eyes than Drakkar. Roman structure with fig leaf like inscriptions embossed, finished off with a gold cap and the green juice inside. The fragrance itself opens up very Drakkar like, classic Lemon Verbena, Lavender, and calone/citrus , but thats where the similarity primarily ends. This quickly goes into a deeper, fresher, and a touch sweeter green side of things due to the Fir with Lavender still lingering about. This is where the vintage fuzziness becomes apparent (it is an 80's fragrances after all) due to the musk selection, but with this reformulation they managed to strike a perfect balance of modern and vintage in this one. This is still very much relevant today, but you can tell its more of a classic style. This balance is further evidenced in how this fragrance finishes. Amber (being made a bit more creamier by that Sandalwood), Patchouli, a hint of Oak Moss. Sound familiar? This is the exact same base as Tom Ford's Beau De Jour and ADP Colonia Essenza, to a tee! Of course those are modern releases, with white musks as its background to keep them cleaner and those ingredients are of a much higher quality, however this fragrance finishes THE EXACT SAME WAY, albeit with the vintage musks at play, but still... unreal at this cost how its able to remind me of fragrances made this day and age with much higher price tags. Performance is so so.A hard 6 hour limit that it struggles to get to most of the time and project is on the softer side of moderate, but for the price... worth every penny, spray away my friend. I will always have a bottle on hand, this honestly impressed me more than it should have. One of the kept secrets in classic men's fragrances. Caesar's Man.

The fortunate thing about the kind of fragrance that this is is that there are so many that are similar. In that regard, the price you have to pay for the original formulation of this stuff is not supportable. For the same reason you (probably) wouldn't drop $3-400 on Gucci Nobile, you don't need to drop $1-200 on this either. Whatever you buy for less might not match up perfectly, but 1) with the money you save so what and 2) the variation could very well end up being to your liking and preference anyway. $11 for Lomani is going to beat $120 for Caesars any way you slice it, at least for the fragrance aspect of it. Caesars in particular may have additional value to some people associated with the name and bottle, but for the juice itself, anything I give up using Lomani, Taxi, Dakar, etc. - all available now for as low as $10-12 - is just not that big of a sacrifice. Ironically, I saw a 100 ml bottle of vintage DN that sold recently on eBay for under $50. The "reminds me of" list above comprise only some of the fragrances that are similar to this; there are quite a few others. It's almost the same thing as not realizing just how many there are of a particular make of car until you start driving one yourself. Also note that the original Caesars comes in a bottle with a screw cap, so if you buy it used online, your bottle is vulnerable to tampering. If you are going to invest in this stuff, be aware of that lest you get a "Legendary" bottle with the contents from a $15 bottle of the new stuff. In what I think was the confusion of the sudden disappearance of Caesars then its sudden reappearance as a remodeled product, I lucked into a couple of NOS gift sets for ridiculously little earlier this year so I'm probably set for life, especially given all the other stuff I have that is similar. I would hesitate to buy it again though, particularly for anything that doesn't come in a sealed package. Regardless, I can always get the vintage DN and other perfectly acceptable substitutes, new or used, current or discontinued, for far less.

Very nice fragrance, too bad is so overlooked. I have to thank the channel scent of south Jersey for this gem. Basically Caesar man legendary Cologne is very similar to drakkar noir or ysl jazz, just a bit more greener and fresher. So u can detect fir, verbena, oakmoss, amber, sandalwood... Darkkar noir has a more shaving foam vibe. Definitely an old-fashioned touch here, if you like the colognes from 80's or early 90's u have to buy it or at least try it. So today it can be considered dated and i dont think girls can like it but it's something u wear for your own satisfaction. Good performance, a bit better than current drakkar noir. For mature people, casual and formal situations, better during winter, spring and fall. Nice presentation as well. Caesar man legendary cologne è un bel profumo dagli echi anni 80. Here's the short story. I have a one ounce splash bottle of vintage Caesars Man "Legendary Cologne" ($25 including shipping). I cannot speak to the latest Made in China version. This fragrance is a very nice barbershop scent (fresh, clean shaven), and it definitely is on the same block in this neighborhood as vintage Drakkar Noir (second formula). It's not, however, a clone in the same house, but it is right next door As previously stated, it does have a enough differentiation to make it stand on its own (a little more citrus?). Drakkar Noir skews slightly dark and heavy while Caesars Man skews slightly fresh and light. You might not need to own both, but I could easily seeing a person having both in their collection, and vintage Caesars Man can usually be purchased for less than vintage Drakkar Noir.

Never smelled the legendary version, have the current version. Smells great to me, smells like a sweet grassy drakkar noir with more airiness and less notes, but in a good way. Doesn’t have any of the harsh astringent citrus notes that I get from lomani PH or DDV, and the bottle looks amazing. Performance is bad but I knew this before buying a bottle so I knew what to expect. In terms of the scent it exceeded my expectations, smells like grass in the breeze on a summer day. If the legendary version is miles better than this then I have to source a bottle

Somehow the lemon verbana, rosemary, and bergamot in the opening come together to smell like key lime, which is awesome. The effect of the dry down is like being in a garden center, among all the ground cover plants, flowers, and mulches. You can pull the individual notes out when you look for them, but the overall effect is total lawn and garden. It's really great. Maybe not for everyone, but shopping lawn and garden is one of my favorite parts of spring. The sensory experience is unapproachable.

As others have noted, this is almost identical to Drakkar Noir, but a fraction of the price. I bought mine online, paid for shipping and it was still one third of the price that the same quantity of Drakkar costs locally. If you like powerhouses, this is one for you. There is nothing at all subtle about Caesar's Man as the opening notes are a little harsh, which suits me just fine. It is a really sweet , warm fougere, with pronounced citrus and herbaceous notes. A definite thumbs up for me!

I have (rather "found" ahem) a bottle that says "Legendary Cologne Spray" on the bottle with Dist. Las Vegas NV on the bottom and it's a nearly full bottle. Nowhere on the bottle says Made in China and I don't have (rather never had) the box. I love the openness and the freshness, and I also like the citrusy elements. Never would have thought that a casino cologne would be so awesome.

If you like Drakkar Noir but find it difficult to pull of, I highly suggest you looking into Ceasars Man. Undoubtedly similar to Drakkar, yet has a twist of it's own, taking a turn towards the greener side, making the DNA of Drakkar Noir lighter and fresher. Personally I do not look at Ceasars as a clone, rather I perceive it as an interpretation, a solid one.

I remember when I had the vintage non-atomizer version And I accidentally spilled few drops on the toilet counter, and I kept smelling it for weeks whenever I enter the bathroom. Vintage: 24hrs longevity 100/10 5 feet silage for 5 hours 10/10 Smell nostalgic 10/10 Juice color: grass green not like the current crappy ones which is bale yellow.

The vintage that says legendary cologne is what you should look for, it is what drakkar Noir failed to be, don't get me wrong I do like drakkar but you can say this the upper class niche version of it. Wonderful addition to my fougere arsenal

Drakkar Noir... thats the only thing this scent reminds me.I adore drakkar so I adore caesers. Besides, I pay half the price I pay for Drakkar. I recommend this for all DN lovers.

Loving this stuff. Starts out like a honeyed and almost aquatic like thing. But turns into the green drakkar noir mentioned below. Love it so I bought vintage.

Got a Legendary version for 13 dollars. Fantastic scent. Smells like a sparkling Drakkar Noir.

My opinion on Ceasar the "Legendary" vs Drakkar, I own both. The golden yellow Legendary Ceasar, I believe is a combo of Chypre/Frougue, whereas Drakkar is more spicy Fougere. With Ceasar I pickup a real strong balsamic vib from the lavender where Drakkar doesn't have it. They both have that fir/green note through the time you're wearing it. I found on my skin Ceasar out lasts Drakkar especially the balsamic vib of lavender which I personally don't think it's offensive or too strong to be offensive. I believe Ceasar has more of warm tone, whereas Drakkar is definitely more of cool tone cologne. I'm able to pick up more of the oakmoss/wood notes in Ceasar, I don't get that from Drakkar. As far as longevity and Sillage..Ceasar close to my nose is stronger and I can detect very slightly more at arms length. I can say that Drakkar is much more versatile than Ceasar. For the evening, Drakkar would stand out being recognized far more the Ceasar. People will assume you're wearing Drakkar. In all, I enjoy both and I don't mind the differences between the two. That's what makes colognes so unique..7/10

I personally find this much closer to a "green" Cool Water. It has a strong Bergamot note like Drakkar but this fragrance isn't dark at all, which to me is defining of what the Drakkar scent encompasses so I feel there isn't a good comparison. This scent is very fresh and bright, a good professional cologne for sure. Juniper, Fir needle and something like a sweet mint or patchouli in there giving a little herbaceous quality and sweetness just short of being aquatic like Cool Water. Unfortunately this is another one of the cheapies that is great but has absolutely no staying power. The scent is completely gone within two hours with multiple sprays. IMO I like this fragrance more than Cool Water but I can't recommend this over it just because its performance sucks. I'll end with one more nice thing and say I really like the bottle it comes in, it has a classy laurel design and a thick glass bottle with a very good atomizer. A decent buy at around $20.

Drakkar Noir YES... Stronger and spicier and is the CHAMP! Does the job for about 6-8 hours... Dakar Al-Rehab Yes... I actually like the perfume oil! Smells great! Like a Beast! but calms down after 4-5 hours also. Sung Homme Kinda... I find Sung Homme to be the BOMB! Irish Spring on steroids! I would not compare this one except for the piney notes... I find all these to be far Superior to Caesars Man. All with that Piney Soapy woodsy notes. Caesars Man in comparison... Ya, a little cleaner and soapier. Seems to not last as long... I get about 4-5 hours. Smells great for the cost of $8.99 at Ross. Great after a shower! I really do like this fragrance just wish it had a bit more UMPH... I find Caesars Man to be at the bottom of this list with that being said... it still smells great!

a pretty nice fragrance, old school...i was at ross's discount stores and i saw that they had a handful at 8.99 each..can't beat the price so i picked up one.. it reminds me of an 80's type powerhouse scents, very aromatic and a pleasing fragrance if you do not over do it.. typically imagine some hairy chested guy running around with some big gold medallion swinging from his neck lol... but seriously it is not bad , reminds me of the azzaro type of scent, maybe drakkar i can sort of see that, duc de vervins also has a similar begining to it. i just think for what you can pick a good size bottle up, why not ?

Caesars Man is a very underrated cologne thats very woody with a citrus hint to it with a little bit of green apple thrown in there. I got this a blind buy from Ross that was reduced for 7 bucks, cant wait to rock this during football seaons in the fall

The Green Brother to Drakkar Noir. If you like Drakkar Noir or Floris Elite you like this. I haven’t experienced the Chinese version since I got a great deal on a vintage legendary version.

it's a fruity and green fragrance , a very good perfume for every seasons.

To my nose, this is essentially Drakkar Noir minus the leather and spice elements that most find obnoxious about DN; it's more fresh, clean, and floral smelling. You could almost use this as a daytime or spring/summer fragrance and keep DN for nights out and fall/winter, they're that closely related to each other. I would have wore this myself, but I had a strange allergic reaction to it; my lips, teeth, and tongue started itching when I sprayed it on a tester strip. It's the same sort of allergic reaction I had when I tried Al-Rehab's "Dakkar," which is their version of Drakkar Noir. That makes me wonder if there aren't some similar ingredients between the two.

Wowza. This was disappointing. From the Made in China printed in the box, to the shower to shower talc scented brownish/green colored product. Of course I bought the cheap bottle on fragrancenet. Wasn’t my intention to buy the cheap bottle, but that’s what I bought. A YouTuber raves about this. I should’ve watched his entire video, because I didn’t know there was a made in China reformulation. It’s just like the fellas in Vegas though, cheapening the product for maximum profit- have it produced in China where people are working for pennies a day. The reactionary way! Anyway, very cheap (yeah, my fault). Smells a bit like gas station liquid soap. But, yeah, horrid. I think this will be the first time I just throw it out after owning it for an hour.

While some of you have likened this cologne to Drakkar Noir which I love as much as anyone, I find this scent to be very much it's own unique 'green' fir scent. It is of the drugstore cheapie type but smells really good. A classic fougere and green moss cologne, super 80s and hyper masculine. In today's market gourmands and modern youthful scents, aquatic scents, are in vogue. I want none of that. Give me some of this! Opens with a lemon verbena scent. It reminds me of L'Occitane (did I spell that right?) lemon verbena shampoo and body lotion. This is a good verbena scent, outdoorsy, citrusy, green, and floral with a distinctive lavender aroma. The lavender is soothing and therapeutic, slightly medicinal. The fir note in the heart is detectable and it embraces all the green notes that come after it: patchouli, green moss or litchen AKA Evernia Prunastri. I love this note in fragrance. It's green, cool, grassy, and aromatic. There's something of a cheaper Ralph Lauren Polo Green in it. The lavender note is as some have pointed out suggestive of shampoo, after shave and powder in the barbershop style. I don't find it powdery at all but it is definitely a barbershop scent with a warm comforting aroma that smells clean and like you just got out of a barbershop with a haircut and a shave. The dry down also contains a balsamic note and some amber, a little bit of musk and lots of moss. The herbal aroma is pleasant and quite good for wearing after you're shower and for your day in any season of the year. Masculine, classic, green and clean. Finally I want to add that this cologne used to be available in the Forum Shops at Caesar's Palace Hotel in Las Vegas Nevada. I don't know if it still sells there. This scent was launched in the 80's and was supposed to match up with the Caesar theme. Smells of laurel wreaths around Caesar's head, of rosemary and lavender notes which would have been common in some of the Caesar's palaces and baths in Rome. It's green and mossy and evocative of Italy's herbal pastoral side. Most of all it's a clean inoffensive scent, good for executives who wear suits and want to smell masculine without going too far or too musky. It's underrated and should make a comeback.

I haven't smelled Drakkar Noir since way back when so I can't even say I know that this one smells like it. It does smell like Samba Kiss for Men, but this one is much better, being richer, more natural smelling, and more subtle. Worn discreetly, this is acceptable for a wide range of social occasions. If you want something greener and a bit more subtle, there is Ferre's men's fragrance from 1986. This one is a little sweeter and has a bit of a candy-like quality to it. If you like fougere accords and want something along these lines, but want it for around $10-15, I can't think of a better choice. UPDATE: I recently acquired a vintage version of this and it is different, more rich and natural smelling, but without the slight candyish quality of the new one. This goes into my rotation on days when I want a subtle, well balanced, straightforward fougere without any "bells and whistles." It's clearly got some oakmoss and patchouli but it's nicely balanced. The color is yellow whereas the new one is green. UPDATE #2: I acquired yet another bottle, this one looks like the newest formulation but is older. It smells like the vintage one ounce version. Since I now have two, my vintage one ounce is up for swap. UPDATE of 12/14/21: I picked up another vintage bottle, this one is the green liquid, and my impression now is that while it begins a bit like DN, it goes more in a Bois du Portugal by Creed direction in the dry down. Very nice!

As others have noted, when you spray this frag on the first thing you think is "Drakar". It has alot of similarity to that well appreciated juice but it is different. After the dry down you percieve that it is not quite as powerful and it begins to develop it's own personality. Ceasar's Man is cleaner smelling than Drakar, I don't detect any leather. It has a bit more fir and an herbal citrus aroma not quite as pungent as lemon, lighter. It has a nice slight sweetness. I gave equal sprays of each similar scent, Drakar on my right arm and Ceasar's Man on my left. 45 minutes in Drakar's power advantage has disappeared. Actually Ceasar's seems to be the stronger of the two now. One would have to sniff carefully and have a very accurate shnozz to clearly tell them apart. I found it interesting that the people who liked this also like list is composed of quite a bit of my own collection. You can pick this up for peanuts, $10 or less. It's worth picking up whether you want an inexpensive Drakar substitute or if you appreciate it for itself.

You had me at the nomenclature, but I have to say that it's the pretty herbaceous green hue I like to call "pistachio" that drew me to Caesars Man. However, this is definitely a "man's man" type of fragrance with none of the candy-like sweetness promised by some online reviews! The top and most prominent note is definitely rosemary, which gives this dry scent a decidedly bitter quality which somewhat lessens after its dry-down. A pretty apt description online by the Fragrance Foundation's Fragrance Directory spells that Caesars Man is a "rich combination of armoise, verbena, juniper berry, Italian bergamot, Alpine lavender, and fir balsam then balanced with warm, woody notes of fresh amber, Indian patchouli, treemoss, sandalwood and Haitian vetiver." As a woman smelling this fragrance, I want to add that I personally would layer it with orange blossom water for a citrusy sweetness, green tea and perhaps another floral like lily of the valley, jasmine, honeysuckle or even carnation to balance out all that masculinity...

One of my favorite old school fragrances ever, a greener better Drakkar noir in my Opinion and I love Drakkar noir. Caesars Man lasts all day long if you have the original formulation, the color is bright green and it smells so fresh / masculine and is a must for any classic 80’s Mens powerhouse fragrance fan. The fir and oakmoss scent smell so good. The new formulation smells good but lasts about 20 mins even after 15 plus sprays and to me personally smells more like Drakkar noir than the original. If you look on eBay you can find full bottles of the original formulation for decent costs considering you get a 4oz bottle, some sellers have the 1oz bottle of vintage for under 20$ so that’s worth a shot to try it. If you can find the aftershave as well to match with the cologne definitely pick that up as well it makes the performance even stronger.

I was in Gordmans recently and snooped the fragrance area. And there it was, Caesers Man. Had a small bottle of the original juice from the late 80's, loved it. First thing I thought was this would be neutered down like so many of the heavy hitters of decades ago. So here are my thoughts. The original Caesars Man resembled Drakkar. The recent "made in China" version is greener, more herbacious, and longevity is only 4-5 hours. What I get from the new version of Caesers Man is more in line with Gucci Nobile, one of the nicest fougeres ever. You can say it is in the same area as Sung Homme, Lomani, even Paco Rabanne. The new version smells more synthetic than the original, yet it still smells nice. For less than $15, worth a shot on a blind buy. Recommend to any fans of Drakkar, but want a softer and greener profile.

ALERT: A reformulation is now on the market, selling for under $20 total for 4 ounces. It's made in China and doesn't say Legendary on the bottle or box, and the liqluid color is pale yellow instead of bright green, so it's easy to tell the difference. If anyone tries this new formulation, please let us know what it's like. And make sure you ask the seller if it's got the words Legendary Cologne Spray before paying much more because some ebay sellers seem to be using an old stock photo but selling the new formulation! UPDATE: The first review on the new formulation, TMK, is at ebay now, and it's really bad, a 1 out of 5 stars: "Not the real deal. Bought acouple the other day its not the reall ceasars man One on left is the one i have the right one is what they sent me smells nothing like the one i have."

So is this a Fougere or a Chypre, as Fragrantica lists it? Or a combination, or somewhere in between? Probably elements of both. But it does have lavender, a Fougere staple not typically featured in the Chypré. But if the Fougere is defined by a distinctive lavender-coumarin accord, there is no coumarin listed in this frag, or most other fougeres. If coumarin is characterized by an earthy, mown grass or hay accord, is anything else in Ceasars Man providing that accord? The fir? Not exactly. Probably elements of both but no clear, definitive classification. But I'll call it an Aromatic Fougere because of the lavender, and frankly it comes across more as a Fougere to my nose. Anyway, Caesar Man is very much similar to Drakkar Noir/Dakar/Duc de Vervins and I like it.

Caesars Man is simply awful. It was given to me as a gift. When I opened the box it smelled like a bar of soap. When I sprayed some in the air to check it out it was repulsive. Entirely overwhelming and cheap. A strong bitter smell. Then after the first minute or so it progressively got worse. It was just an overwhelming cheap conglomeration of scents, none of which ever came together. To be nice I applied some to my arm but later washed it off. Or tried to. Later it went in the trash where it belongs. Absolutely the worst men's cologne I have ever had.

Years ago, I was in Vegas at t convention. They had some girl walking around giving out samples of some new unisex fragrance. I smelled it and told her , it wasn't by style and that I wanted to smell "like a man". She looked around to make sure no one was listening and then whispered, "You want Caesars" She was not lying. Back in the pre-China days, this stuff smells just like the name Legendary. To this day, Ive never found a cologne that has more people ask me what Im wearing. Fantastic stuff if you can find a older bottle.

Not too bad,a bit linear and synthetic but noticeable .I would say it is a cross between a fougere and a bitter citrus. Enjoy this in the Autumn /winter in the u.k as it is quite powerful but still more of a daytime fragrance than night. No flowers or girly unisex sweetness.Would say a safe bet for a man over 50 who likes classic masculine aftershave type fragrances. Out of 10 I would rate 7 as it is so cheap but lasts well and is distinctive.

Not much to say about Caesars Man. Two things: 1) Caesars Man is a good fragrance. A (by all means) cheap aromatic/green fougère that smells way much better than the majority of today's masculines. 2) It's unquestionably derivative (Drakkar Noir anyone?). Said that, if you find it on a shelf, don't miss the chance to take it home as it sells ridicolously cheap and smells cheap but good. Rating: somewhere between 1 and 10

Recently purchased the new reformulation of this cologne after years of having the original. Found a couple of them at Ross for $14.99 a bottle. First thing you notice out of the box is it is missing the “legendary” words in the front of the bottle. The first initial scent is a lot softer then the original. Haven’t taken it for a full test run yet but will update once I wear it all day!

For me it is a cleaner Drakkar Noir without the sour note. Definitely a 80's frag. Pretty similar to Sung pour Homme and Polo Green. A power house but not as over powering as Giorgio for Men. Descent fall casual frag for me with good longevity and projection. Enjoy it but don't think I would purchase another bottle. Solid-7.5 out of 10.

I am lucky to have 2 full bottles of the original one, one of the LA version and the other of Nevada, this is really amazing and really manly. I bought the new version of China to check it out and it's nothing like the original it smells like drakkar noir mixed with apple green apple I use as air fresher, at least wasn't expansive.

2020 Caesars Man - Palm Beach Beauté LLC, is Made in China and smells faintly of lemon, and that's it. My strong suggestion: do not buy this. Furthermore, do not waste your money. This is a rip off. If it came free out of a bubblegum machine, you'd toss it in the garbage can. Finally, I advise you, this is, in my opinion, junk.

I have a full bottle of the original "Legendary" version made in Vegas .... This stuff smells EXACTLY how I remember Drakkar smelling in 1987 ... Amazing fragrance.... It actually smells more like Vintage Drakkar than current Drakkar does. Recommended.

My son got it as a gift and it's very good. I actually really like to smell it over and over. Very manly and giving the sense of stability.

Green Drakkar/Duc De Vervins. brighter than Taxi. sparkling and mossy with an underlying warmth. Vintage version

Don't know the original version but after rolling the dice on the Chinese one, I quickly parted with it. Avoid.

This is an alternate version of Drakkar Noir and it's worth seeking out a vintage bottle.

Legendary version: 9/10 China version: 5/10
