Ashura

Ashura reminds me a lot of rice pudding, drenched in the natural honey-sweetness of fig, with cardamom (especially its dry, woody facets) amped up and even some spicy anise added. There is a smokiness that adds depth. As with all the Cafe de Parfum perfumes, though inspired by an existing dessert theme, this perfume is unlike any other. I find this one the most mysterious and educational. In fact, I can't stop smelling it. Ashura is is easily my favorite among the line.

Little is known that Ashura is, according to legend, the first dessert in the world. Also known as Noah's Pudding, it was said that the dish was prepared to celebrate the arrival of Noah's Ark on Mount Ararat. The main ingredients in this celebratory pudding are grains, dried fruits, and nuts. Inspired by this special dish, this perfume is fruity(pomegranates and figs)and nutty with a special note of incense, an ingredient that has several relationships with the sacred in Christianity and also in Islam. Ashura also gives its name to a chapter of the Quran and a day of voluntary fasting by Muslims. It is undoubtedly the most exotic perfume in my collection. An aromatic, light, fruity, woody, incense, spicy and slightly abacatic fragrance, it has a facet reminiscent of black tea at times. It is a delicious perfume with good performance.

I was one of the lucky winners of 6 samples from this house and Ashura is the first I've tried. Ashura, to my nose, is all about cedar, and I do love cedar. Here cedar is enriched with fig, my favorite fruit note. Together they blossom into an amalgam of true-to-nature scents that radiate an earthy/woody/sweet aroma that is truly intoxicating. The comparison that comes first to mind is Womanity because the fig is so prominent but the cedar note distinguishes Ashura as something unique. I'd spring for a full bottle if Ashura lasted 3-4 hours but, while it's a powerhouse for the first hour it very quickly thereafter fades to barely there. A pity really because Ashura is a very beautiful fragrance.

On me ashura was very, very woody. It opened strong and sour, the pomegrante note in here not playing very nice with the camphorous vibe of the scent. I read the positive reviews on here, and feel bad that I can't join in and say I liked it even though I won my samples. I don't really get the nuts in here, but I do get a hint of pomegranate and something citrusy like orange peel. There is something oddly powdery about it, maybe that is where people are getting the rice pudding idea. To me I just think of talcum powder and Asian medicine. I bet if I asked my Chinese boyfriend what I smelled like he would probably ask if it's tiger balm.

One of the unique scent and being the real niche perfumerie that is my love at 1st smell and sniff. Open with the nutty scent with sweet green feeling from fig including metallic vibe from fruity tone, and dry down is all about the cool woody & soft spicy incense that is sophisticated, unique & cool with soft fruity aromatic undertone. Finally, I love this scent and this one has come to my list about top fragrance of 2018 already.
