Panther Fangs

I came across this fragrance by mistake. Walked intro a niche boutique looking to sync my nose into a Bogue frangrances which I didn't like that much and the mademoiselle there showed me around some beautiful animalic fragrances. This just blew my mind away, nostrils & eyes dilated. Starts (for a few seconds) fresh then immediately the indolic jasmine and musk kicks in and easily progresses in 3-4 hours into an ambery-animalic-floral which is hard to describe but is absolutely superb. The late dry down, which is 7-8h in is stunning. This lasts more than needed. I sprayed this on my wrist around lunch and I could still easily smell it the second day around 10:00 AM, after multiple hand watches and a shower. If you like the ambery floral part but without the animalics then Migues Matos- Fado Jasmin is the way to go. If you want a more floral and leathery version of this, A13- Out in the open is your bet. These 3 are all created by Matos and they are linked but do not smell similar, just different versions of the same idea. My favorite is Panther Fangs. <3 Big love from me.

This is not just a perfume. This is a piece of art that you can't stop admiring! 😍🥰❤️❤️❤️ It opens with the most feminine intoxicating alluring AND photorealistic jasmine (smells high quality jasmine, not the "bug spray" jasmine E.Saab or Gucci use for example- no offense, just how they smell to my nose) and also grapefruit and less bergamot - green, raw, complimenting each other. The jasmine is mindblowing...it's like at its pick of the night after it has rained, it's a bit tropical in my mind. The civet is very prominent, but I can also smell some ambergris, so the scent is very animalic, but in an opulent way. She is aristocratic and provocative. She arrives. She has worked through her shadow self and now she embodies her, too so that it works in her favor and now she's unstoppable. It has an implying sweetness from the vanilla and tonka, but I can't say the notes apart-they blend beautifully. I absolutely love it! Thank you Calaj for this masterpiece! Unique.

This fragrance is a wild, multifaceted masterpiece. The rich anamalic notes blend seamlessly with carnal, lush, indolic white florals, creating a scent that lingers on the skin for well over 24 hours. I don't get any citrus whatsoever. As it dries down, a subtle sweetness, not in a gourmand way, emerges from the musk mallow, yet the civet remains a dominant force throughout. The interplay of ambergris and civet enhances both longevity and sillage, making this an exceptional choice for layering. Be aware this will outlast and possibly overpower whatever you might layer with. It adds depth and a sultry edge to anything too fresh or sweet. Perfect for lovers of dirty jasmine, this scent demands to be worn to be fully appreciated. Initially, I dismissed it as overwhelmingly anamalic, but once applied, it transforms into an indolic jasmine lover’s dream. Bold, potent, and evocative of vintage fragrances, this is a statement scent with serious projection.

A masterpiece of perfumery for the jasmine note. in my opinion, the most realistic and carnal jasmine in perfumery. Flavius and M. Matos did an amazing job taking the jasmine note to the level of art. After spraying, a juicy grapefruit will hit you in an extremely pleasant way, following that along the way the jasmine will develop accompanied by animal notes. Longevity and projection for this perfume is out of this world, on my skin after 16hours and 1 shower,he still felt quite strong.

This is good! Strong so tiny bit needed,not much, I guess can get nauseous if too much. It's a sweet foody animalic fragrance,very unique in the sense of not being a gourmand, neither too animalic or too floral. Has a bit of everything! I really like it and perhaps a bottle will be soon part of my collection! It has kinda the DNA of Francesca Bianchi.

I received a sample of this. I am wearing it now. You can definitely smell the florals and the amber in the vial. It has a fresh minty quality that I surprisingly find delightful. On my skin I can only smell the bergamot and jasmine with an undertone of amber and musk. It's very floral, but fresh green. I understand the reviews that say they smell banana. It's not a disgusting banana smell, more like if you've ever had banana milk in Asia or the ME growing up, it's pleasant. It is the combination of bergamot/jasmine/vanilla that reminds you of bananas. The dry down for me is fresh dark citrus. I smell amber, fresh lemon peel, musk, and what my beloved cats smell like napping in the sunshine. It's absolutely intoxicating. I am in love. You wake up for a twilight cup of earl grey tea with lemon wedges. You meditate quietly, and out of the darkness a panther from the jungle stalks past your window. You catch their scent and it smells like they prowled through the jasmine blooms when the earth was emanating a fresh green warmth before it cooled into dew drops on the banana trees and wild mint bushes. It is a summery, seductive, androgenous scent.

This smells quite pleasant. Although there are a few animalic notes in this , it is not all that strong in being animalic. At least not on my skin. I would consider this an introduction to animalics. It is not offensive. Leans feminine on my skin. But pleasant smelling. I think this would work very well on a woman. The Grapefruit and Bergamot are noticeable. I do not pick up any major smoke. I do detect some Smoke. Very subtle. Almost has a slight sweet candy scent to it too me. There are a few florals. It's good. Just not for me. As i want a more animalic scent. You might love it. I'm glad I got a 10ml decant.

Had me smelling like a very sexy, warm banana pudding. I'm not sure if its jasmine or tuberose I smell, but there is definitely banana in there. A little goes a long way - you either love it or hate it. Lasts all day, very powerful fragrance.

Very, very close to Amouage Opus IX, but lacking its addictive creaminess. A must-try for loves of indolic jasmine. Impressive longevity and sillage.

my skin normally eats through musk like acid but this stuff is POTENT. civet and jasmine, disgustingly strong, smells like I'm trapped in the passenger seat of a brand-new dodge charger with a man 20 years my senior who's fresh out of a divorce and didn't get custody of the kids. I say all this as a compliment- like I've said in previous reviews, I value how interesting a fragrance is over how much I personally like it, and this is certainly Something. it is something that should come with a warning label though as it took a solid 24 hours and two showers to come off. unbelievably strong stuff. anyways, like I said, civet, jasmine, and more civet. something a bit camphor-y in there which I think is the Buchu? it's musky, but unusually so, in a way that hits your sinuses rather than the back of your throat if that makes sense. I can't consciously detect citrus but it makes sense that it's there- it lightens everything up by a fair bit and distills the normally warm, oozing musk into something pointed and aggressive. not for me, but kudos to whoever manages to pull this off

This is a chemical stew on me. I don't get any of the notes because they are overridden with ambrox, Iso, and every other synthetic molecule in the book. I really hate these newfangled chemicals they are putting in perfumes. It makes perfumes smell antiseptic and like rubbing alcohol to me.

I happen to like animalic fragrances very much but this one is to much for me. I can't say what act this perfume might be inspired by but wow this is gross.

Discusting for me. The worst out of the whole Calaj lineup for me.

Many compare this to Fado Jasmim given the same perfumer and they are both perfumes building on the main character of jasmine, but these are two completely different perfumes. Fado Jasmim is sweet, fruity, fun, with that dirty animalic twist laying underneath all of the frivolity. It's balanced and poised, and gives a great mix of fun with a serious dirty sexual character underneath. It totally fits that brief of colourful musical flamboyance. Now on the other hand, Panther Fangs, as the name might suggest, throws aside all of that fun and fruity character that Fado Jasmim offers, and instead replaces it with complete and utter raw dirty sex. It is a dry, musky, dirty, and raw smelling photorealistic jasmine flower. It is HEAVILY dosed in civet. Hilariously it reminded me of a scratch and sniff book I had as a child in the 90s. There was a page in there with smells of different animals and this smells exactly like what they had representing the smell of a skunk. I love a good animalic scent, but this is one I'll stick to just owning a tiny sprayer of for when I'm feeling like a bit of a freak. If you're curious of something that's in between these two, perhaps you want a more fluffy and comforting jasmine with a cuddly animalic aspect to it, but none of the jovial sweet and fruity facets from Fado Jasmim, then I'd recommend trying Isabelle Larignon's Bangla Yasaman. If I was to imagine the sort of person that would wear this, it would absolutely be 1970s Burt Reynolds. For the man that rejects the usual fougeres, chypres and colognes, and is wearing perfume purely with a goal to invoke a sense of lust in any woman that goes near him. This is a tanned hairy chested, mustachio in a cowboy hat.

This fragrance was created during Covid, imagining we were panthers, free, sinuous and elegant, and reborn. A wonderful, sensual and elegant jasmine, preceded by citrusy fruits, which at a certain point becomes more decisive and takes on a great personality. A wonderful fragrance.

Narcotic jasmin bomb. I don't get the citruses too much. Jasmin is the star here. It's big, it's somewhat sweet, it's intoxicating.. In the base some smoke and animalic notes provide a "wild" vibe that makes it more interesting as the floral sweetness is tamed with darker notes. It's complex and potent. A take on jasmine that i find distinct enough to be a fantastic option for any white floral lover. And I said white floral lover: this is jasmin heavy fragrance. I don't get the "citrus", "amber", etc in the main accords column. You get full on jasmin almost from the beginning I'll put this on my whislist

Sticky mouth cloying candy.. This is banana peels, tobacco, vanilla, musk, sugar cane, coffee, and tonka bean. This is more smelling like Havana than a panther! maybe he thought of a panther because of its animalic touch! but it is more of an overly sticky cloying sweet! it is very much reminding me of "Dark Heart Of Old Havana" by 4160 Tuesdays & "Italian Angel" by O'Driu for their Havana vibes. Nice.

I like the animalic jasmine part at the middle phase. I'm not sure how I feel about the grapefruit opening, and at the end I get this smoky and woody oud-like note that I'm not a fan of. I like Fado Jasmim much more, since it is rounder and has neither of those.

Very close to Amouage Opus IX and X—in fact, somewhere in between the two: punchier civet than in the opening of IX and less of a lacquered rose than X. It’s a big, hairy beast, that’s for sure. Ruggedly masculine. Untamed. Well done.

@wst: Thank you - your review is admirable: you start with honestly saying that these notes/accords are not exactly your cup of tea, but you still recommend Panther Fangs for what it is.
