Mistero

Mistero could certainly pass as unisex, because despite the darkness of the wood has the scent of something very creamy, flattering. I had saffron actually and oud to be suspected responsible for my terrible perfume experiences, but here everything fits together quite harmoniously, stands nothing in the nose, nothing arouses my washing instinct. Essentially Mistero smells to me like a soft, slightly damp wood with a pinch of spice and very, very far in the background I am also a bit fruity imagined. Oddly, the fruitiness is stronger (but remains very weak), the longer I wear the fragrance. I think I probably both men and women to dark, mysterious, to carry him to the job, such as Ergo Proxy proposes. This is the first one I try from this house but I must confess it has surprised me.

Got my first bottle some years ago in Bologna and has always been one of my favourite fragrances. Managed to get another bottle in Milan a few years later as it was only available in Italy & Germany. Best of the Cale fragrances - a wonderful unique scent with great longevity and projects well - have received many compliments from the ladies when wearing this. Dark, warm, spicy scent which works well for me in the evenings at a restaurant or bar. Haven't yet smelled another fragrance that is too similar to this.

When Marco Polo returned to Venice he brought back the chest that accompanied him in his travels. At various times this wooden chest carried exotic spices, saffron, resins from distant parts, rice for the trade and other ephemera discovered in these lands so unlike his own. Mistero smells like that chest. My signature scent and unlike anything else I own but rarely worn because while beautiful it’s not easy to wear.

Opens with saffron and soft oud, and closes with smoky elemi and booze. The top reminds me of Amouage Epic, the base of Zegna Passion and TT Laudano Nero to give an idea (but not identical to any of these). Average performance. I already own the 3 fragrances I cited, so it will be a pass for me, but might be a winner if one doesn't already own any in that category. Still, at ~$140 for 50ml, the price is a bit steep, and thus would strongly recommend not to blind buy that one. Colder nights, 25+

A good perfume, a fragrance for a day is not challenging, I feel ruhum tobacco wood and saffron rice, I used a working day and eventually dominated the woody note, again a good smell out from the usual cheesy and known for sure has personality, maybe you may not like it, but personalitò, the price in Italy is around 50 ml 60/65 €, 100 ml 85/90 €. for a perfume out of the choir do all in all 8/10.

Mistero by Cale is a boozy, spiced oriental fragrance that leans toward a Western interpretation of oud rather than the more traditional Middle Eastern take. It’s best suited for cooler evenings, where its warmth and richness can be fully appreciated. The scent opens with an inviting boozy warmth, layered with spices that add character without overwhelming the senses. While the oud is present, it remains subtle and modern, making it approachable for those who may shy away from more animalic or intense oud profiles. That said, there are moments where it can feel a bit flat or uninspired, especially if you're expecting bold development or complexity. Still, it remains a pleasant and cozy scent—a safe yet refined choice for colder weather. Rating: 3/5

Opening was a bit unpleasant, having an a cumin alcoholic nuttiness to it. This lasted for a few minutes but long enough it might turn off the impatient. It dried down to a warm and oudy (on the funky side) leathery incense with a hint of spice. It's dry, but not overtly. I really get the labdanum and most of the other notes, but rice, rhubarb, and mint are not particularly noticeable at all. Overall, it's okay. It warmness is inviting enough but that funky side of oud with the hint of spice makes it just a little too, "I'd be better off without".

Mistero is a dry, warm, comforting, spicy and creamy woody scent. Not at all sweet. The oak note is oddly clear, more prominent than anything else. I quite like it, but gave it to a friend, as Mistero was wearing me instead of the other way around.

Mmmm, so where exactly does it say this is for men? Not on my bottle in any case ;0) Ladies, do not be scared off: this one is a pleasant surprise for those of us who don't constantly want to smell like flowers. I'm afraid I can't really begin to describe it, I just love it! The perfume is true to its name, a bit of a mystery and quite unlike anything else. Warm, resiny, woody, but still light enough to wear on a warm day. It is definitely not a silage bomb, I wouldn't mind it being stronger. But it does stay with you for hours- 6 and a half hours after application I'm still sniffing my wrist. A keeper! I bought the last 100 ml bottle on sale today. Purely to have an extra in case this perfume gets difficult to find.

First of all I love their shop and meetings about perfume! An island of refined delight in the middle of a grey, stinking city! This fragrance is very very interesting and all other Calé are. Mistero is extremely warm and not too sweet. It's actually quite rude and male, but in a seducing way. The quality is assured and lasting power is not bad. It really reminds me of Middle Eastern smells (or supposed to be!) and can defitely see this on a charming Mediterranean man!

Mistero breaks in with an interesting accord of oud, saffron and rhuburb surrounded by an aromatic vibe (basmati?). What an opening!!! It then evolves into a boozy, woody and somehow spicy drydown that shares too many similarities with Idole De Lubin (except that Mistero lacks the leather). A well crafted composition that's dark, misterious and enjoyable yet, I see no reasons to get this instead of Idole. Pricey! Rating: 7/10
