Sottosopra

Sottosopra is, without a doubt, one of the most captivating fragrances I’ve ever had the pleasure of experiencing. Its complexity and depth keep you guessing, offering an enigmatic composition that evolves beautifully over time. The scent opens with an intriguing balance of salty, aquatic tones that immediately pull you in, followed by a sophisticated blend of earthy vetiver and warm, rich leather. There’s a subtle tension between freshness and depth, making it a truly unique fragrance that remains fascinating throughout the wear. What I love most about Sottosopra is how it continues to develop on the skin. It keeps you engaged, teasing out new layers without ever losing its core essence. The longevity is outstanding, ensuring that the fragrance lingers through the day, while the projection is just enough to be noticed without overwhelming the senses. It’s the perfect combination of power and subtlety. There’s nothing I would change about this fragrance. It’s perfectly crafted, with just the right balance of freshness, depth, and sophistication. Testing blind I got a fairly straight forward vetiver vibe but with a hint sweet and floral element floating around. This does disappear as the day goes on leaving a dried wood feeling with maybe some dried flowers along with it. So far, this has been my favorite fragrance from this house half way through their discovery set. While I like it, and the notes mostly ring true, I admittedly don't pick up on specific fruit elements, just a general sense of fruit and citrus. The overall direction is pleasant, but not sure if it wins out over its similar competitors.

incredible longevity (can still smell it on a sweater i wore something like a month ago...), and it's pretty delicious! androgynous leaning masculine, i'm not usually one for marine/salty fragrances but it's done in such a quirky and photorealistic way here. Smells like a windy beach in winter, the cold salty wind beating upon your face - the aromatics and vetiver creating depth and providing structure. The salt+mint reminds me of finnish salty liquorice liquor <3 it's cold more than it's fresh, not sure how to explain it :) considering the investment...

Salty fruit. Quirky but nicely done. Phenomenal longevity. Moderate sillage. I can smell some mint in the opening notes but it wears off quickly. Sottosopra is a smart scent. Unfortunately, it is just too synthetic to please everyone. Better offerings share the same kind of vibe: - Soleil de Jeddah (Stéphane Humbert Lucas 777) - La Isla Blanca (Ramon Monegal) - Nudiflorum (Nasomatto)

A beautifully refined scent that at four hours in, still has such lovely power. Smells almost as if I have Sicilian Leather on one wrist and Scorpio Rising on the other;).
