Dark Obsession

AN EASY TO RESIST OBSESSION I love the original "Obsession" EDP for women and EDT for men. I actually own and use both the women's and men's editions. It is easy to sniff that same ambery DNA in this more recent "Dark Obsession for Men". However, this younger version offers only average performance. What I hoped to be a respectable dark compulsion due to the aggressive name, turned out to be an easy to like common skin scent most of the time. The opening is fresh but not zesty. There is a strong sweet note (probably guarana) tamed by some absinthe bitterness. It's not really the opening that will keep a promise of a dark scent. I can't say I don't like it but it is certainly a disapointing opening due to unfulfilled expectations. For half a minute I thought to have bought a beach perfume. The fragrance then evolves into more woody and balsamic notes while maintaining a vague herbaceous freshness. It becomes a skin scent very quickly. The dry down is pleasant and seems to enhance the natural odour of my skin (musk?). It is a little sweet, just a little dark and just a little sexy. If there is a classification for light and dark oriental fragrances, Dark Obsession is certainly a good example. Let's see what the mathematics tells us about this EDT: ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ - Opening: 7.0 (sweet and not showing what is about to develop; notes of green orange, guarana and absinthe make you wonder if the scent will be similar to a seaside cocktail; the heart and base development tell you otherwise) - Dryness: 8.0 (more pleasant than the opening; you now realize that the perfume is oriental and just a bit dark; vanilla, labdanum and smooth leather are the most proeminent notes) - Longevity: 7.0 (average for the existing notes) - Sillage: 7.0 (average for the existing notes) - Uniqueness: 7.0 (not unique; The fragrance heart and base reminds me of parts of Calvin Klein's "Obsession for Men" EDT, "CK One Shock for Him" and "L'Instant de Guerlain pour Homme") - Wearability: 8.0 (Winter, Fall, Spring, Night & Day) - Versatility: 8.0 (You are never going to stand out. Yes to socializing events, formal gatherings, night out, restaurants, meetings, office, at leisure, ...) - Compliments: 8.0 (as long as it has not yet become a skin scent, it will draw a fair attention) - Quality: 8.0 (better than average ingredients: sturdy bottle and good sprayer; Unfortunatelly the performance is just average) - Presentation: 8.0 (simple but effective, not tacky) - Price: 9.0 (125 ml tester for 19.50 Euros) ___ ___ ___ ___ ___ The overall rating for this fragrance: 7,72/10,00 MY OPINION: I can recommend it as a light, harmless, sweet, spicy resinous fragrance. It is quite inexpensive, but it is best to test it first. It is an oriental perfume that you can use without being intrusive to anyone. It is not near as dark as the name suggests. Great juice here, great nighttime and intimate scent. Glad to see CK coming out with a truly great scent again. It's been a little bit, but CK hit it out of the park on this one. Right from the start the vanilla bean with the Guarana notes are very intriguing. Then the slight seude notes come with the green mandarin and Labdanum, and this scent becomes a masterpiece that seems to be always evolving. 10/10 easily for me. Perfect scent for taking my girl home and having sex all night long, this scent screams sex, sex, sex, and more sex. CK Dark Obsession, Zirh Ikon, Tom Ford Black Orchid and Mandarina Duck Black all scream i'm sexier and smoother than you...... Scent:8.5 Longevity:6 Sillage:6 Unique/Industry First: 8 Great and unique use of ingredients Quality:8 Not sure how many CK haters there are out there, apparently there's a bunch, as they've succeeded at Dragging CK Dark Obsessions score down to a 3.85 on fragrantica.com on April 14, 2017. This scent is clearly well over a 4, don't let the CK haters sway you, they don't like the sexy marketing and hype around CK, but this scent smells so Damn sexy, it should be the official scent for male/female couples having sex for 2017. Soon as you smell this scent, you know it's great. And it's too bad for the 99% of people that love this truly great scent, that other people just hit the dislike box without even owning this product. Never in a million years is a product so good like this scent, and yet it rates less on Fragrantica.com than Zino Davidoff which is a horrendous mess of a scent.

I have been sad ever since this flanker was discontinued.🥺 I still remember picking out the Christmas set that had his first large bottle of Dark Obsession in it. Complete blind buy based off of how much I liked original Obsession for men. He put it on the first time the day after Christmas. It was like magic. Now, I have absolutely no idea how or why but on my man, and I am not joking, it smelled like fresh fried doughnuts on him. Almost like we had just dropped fresh dough on the edge of a forest during a light hike. It was incredible. It was by far his (and my) favorite scent. The sillage was just right and I actually enjoyed walking into the room after it was sprayed, where it clung gently in the air for a good couple of hours, and I welcomed it walking back into the door at night after its dry-down into a more Earthy scent, less doughnuts, more hike, still gorgeous. Two more bottles over 7 years swiftly came and went too. And then they discontinued it... Maybe for some $200+ for a scent isn't a huge deal, but that would be pretty significant for us, especially for a cologne that goes by a lot faster than my perfumes with a 20+ year shelf life. So, we've moved on. Obsession Night is nice, not amazing, just nice, and we all know that Obsession will still be around after our vampire overlords turn to dust, but still I'll always remember how they aren't Dark Obsession and be a little bit sad...

There is the OG which, is a legendary classic. Not because it is current with today’s ambroxan loaded sameness but, in invokes an exquisite journey down memory lane. I don’t wear it much but, when I do it’s for my own personal satisfaction of my younger days. Calvin Klein makes a bunch of fragrances that range from ok to some that boarder on niche quality. There are some in the Obsession line up that get damn near close to that level. And when CK does it right, they do it right. And this, Dark Obsession along with Obsessed Intense are two of those that get close. Smooth dark vibe with an incense & vanilla mid and drydown with a touch of a leathery suede that is sexy as hell. It leans more towards the over 25 crowd. Actually works quite well all year round except during the summer days or extreme high heat. But, fall, spring and winter and an occasional cool summer night, this does exceptionally well. Women find this super alluring and a close up scent. The Misses can’t get enough of this when I’m wearing it for a night out. Still has the original DNA but, it’s modernized a bit in a real good way. Exceptional fragrance from Calvin Klein that is actually worth looking for and hanging with anyone’s quality fragrance collection.....

This cologne literally drives me crazy when my boyfriend wears it! (In a good way!) I agree with most reviewers, it's very, very sweet for a masculine fragrance, which is probably why I love it so much! (I understand that might not be for everyone.) The vanilla is extremely smooth, velvety, and delectable in this. I also smell a dirty woodsy vibe in the background, it's completely hypnotizing to me. I'm not completely sure what guarana smells like on it's own, but I'm guessing that's what I'm smelling in Dark Obsession. It's an aphrodisiac actually. However, I think as you wear this one more and more it blends in with your own natural skin chemistry, it becomes more luscious and musky. It's divine! On my boyfriend the longevity is slightly above average, with moderate sillage. You probably won't knock any one out with this, but you can definitely smell it's seductive aura in a gentle non-offensive way. I really can't put into words how addicting this stuff is to me, the name "Dark Obsession" is spot on! Hands down, this is my favorite fragrance on my boyfriend! I feel very grateful to have this fragrance in my collection, especially since it’s now long discontinued and nearly impossible to find. This bottle carries a lot of meaning for me because it originally belonged to my dad. He wore it years ago, and when he eventually decided he didn’t want to wear it anymore, he gave it to me. That small gesture turned it into something I’ll cherish forever. Every time I spray it, I’m instantly reminded of him—the scent takes me back to memories of when he used to wear it, and it brings a sense of comfort and familiarity. The fragrance itself is beautifully sensual, built around a smooth vanilla note that gives it warmth and depth. It lasts an impressively long time on the skin, lingering throughout the day in a way that feels both rich and reassuring. This particular bottle came from a Christmas gift set he received many years ago, which also included the matching aftershave balm. Having both together feels extra special, almost like holding onto a piece of the past. Even though the fragrance is discontinued, I’ll always treasure it—not just for how it smells, but for the memories and connection it represents.

This is alluring to the core. It has some elements of the original obsession for men, now don't misunderstand me. There is no cinnamon burst, red hot sex appeal from 1986. This is like if Obsession for Men came out in 2013. Seductive and perfect spice with cocoa and vanilla bursting through. That initial blast is great but as it settles you smell it's base notes loud. With Calvin Klein, it's better to over spray than under as most are EDT'S. That is totally fine! Only problem with Dark Obsession is the cost since it's sad discontinuation. It's anywhere from $100 and up typically. Worth it? Well, what do you spend? If you bought Creed Aventus or a big bottle of Sauvage Elixir than by far worth it! (Depending on what you like) If you are budgeting for clones and discount stores may be hang on and treat yourself one day. I would recommend if you are curious of the scent but don't want to spend the money right away find a decanter shop or order a sample. But if you're a fan of notes described check it out. A modern dark take on Obsession for men. Its not an 80s vibe. This isn't Obsession Night for Men. This is one of Calvin Kleins best.

I haven't smelled Obsession so I can't speak to it's similarities as a flanker. However, I enjoy this one. It's definitely a winter/night time frag with date potential. A dark yet sweet vanilla and woody scent that will surely garner some attention (almost gourmand to me). This is probably not a formal type frag but more for going out on a date (or for, you know, just smelling good on the town). I'd say a more mature scent but the younger dudes could rock it if they aren't trigger happy. The longevity on me was pretty good, I got about 5-6 hours. The sillage is actually pretty good on this one from what I can tell. I got a 4.0oz bottle for around 19 dollars so if you can find it, I'd definitely snatch the sucker.

When I first sprayed this on in the department store, I walked away thinking i would never encounter the fragrance again. However, I couldnt stop smelling the wrist that I sprayed the cologne on. I went back and purcased it after about 15 minutes. Very glad I did. Maybe I lean more towards the vanilla/amber varities of cologne, but this is a great one. When I wear it, it does tend to pull in compliments. Its longetivity is average but the sillage for me was magnificent. I would definitely recommend this if you are a collector or if you would just like a nice scent to wear daily.

Calvin Klein is a shining example of flankers gone totally bonkers. Just about every fragrance they release is following by a hundred flankers which bear little to no resemblance to the original. In fact, Dark Obsession smells more like CK One Shock than the original Obsession. I think the motto of the CK management is "Milk it until it drops dead". I guess they feel that if they throw enough stuff on the wall, some will stick. That said, I really like Dark Obsession. It feels warm and comforting like an old friend. Damn it, you win Calvin Klein. LOL

Chocolate/coca cola comes to mine with this unique fragrance. Hard to describe but its very nice and masculine and has good longevity with average projection. Women like it as its received a few compliments. Nice for a night time date. Subtle yet strangely captivating sent as I couldn't stop smelling it on my wrist the first time I tested it. Can be picked up fairly cheap now but possibly is getting discontinued as Boots in Ireland has stopped selling it, as has Amazon UK. So pick it up if you see it cheap and like it, I recommend it.

I first became aware of this when the provocative commercial came out with some surprisingly good music in the background. I smelled this in dullards and thought it smelled like a more modern, more wearable version of the original that launched in 1986. Its really creamy and indeed dark. Its not necessarily the most unique Calvin Klein offering. Unless you get CK One or CK BE, you're really not gonna get it. I might nab up a bottle of it ends up at a Ross or TJMaxx at a discounted price. I dont think its worth paying full price.

Amazing fragrance I'm glad I took a gamble on this one as far as comparing it to the original I can't say and I don't really get that much of the chocolate but the cola smell is so delightful and during the first couple of hours it's kind of like sitting in a bubble of cola. Longevity is super nice as I sprayed it on before dinner last night and still could smell it on my arm this morning almost 12 hours later! Plus picked this one up at our local Ross so it was easy on the pocketbook as well.

Obsession is one of my favourite scents. I find it very business like and is wonderful out of the bottle. Dark Obsession takes that a step further and goes from business to sexy after work. But like all CK fragrances they are great in the shop but disappointing when you get them home. They all smell great. They don't last and they don't project. It's like taking your beautiful new girl home only to find she's a guy. I bought this in a 15ml little bottle. So I have to reapply often.

Mysterious, tantalizing, vanillic, intoxicating, sexual, dreamy, deep. Same headiness as Penhaligon's Roaring Radcliff and Tobacco Vanille. Was not a fan of the original Obsession, so was very taken aback by this. Longevity is something to be desired here, though. May be more of a bedtime/around the house scent. But otherwise, very nice. Edit: Longevity has proven itself adequate. Sprayed one layer, let it dry, and sprayed another on top of it. Got about 7+ hours out it.

The original Obsession is in my top five, due to not just the scent, but the nostalgia associated with it. I purchased Obsession summer this past summer, and was rather pleased with it - as was my girlfriend. Dark Obsession is no exception. I enjoy the deeper notes of this formulation, and given that I got a 4 oz bottle for less than $20, I can afford to put any extra on that is required to make it last. I am happy that I added this to my ever-growing collection.

Very creamy vanilla note in this i just can’t get enough of. Imagine the original obsession but without cinnamon, but chocolate. You get this masterpiece, was my signature scent. An absolute gem that should have never been discontinued, one of the best releases from the house. opens with a fresher tone then has a linear vanilla smell throughout it’s duration. chocolate and mandarin start to come in when it starts to dry down.

this does indeed last on the skin for the whole day. its almost like it sinks into your skin and brought up with a raise with body temperature. This leaves a soft trail behind you and projects softly as well. this smells like a mysterious version of obsession for women with masculine undertones. very sexy imo. this lasted about 10 hours on my skin. keep in mind that the nose becomes "blind" to the scent you wear after awhile.

I just got it today, and it's my second CK fragrance that I am thoroughly enjoying. Dark Obsession is a sweet, spicy and vanilla fragrance. In my view DO is a great cold weather fragrance, but I'll see how it performs as the temperature rises. My affinity for the dark fragrances is overwhelming and I am able to clearly distinguish them all. Give it a sniff and tell me what you think.

To me, the opening is a sweet aroma of pipe tobacco smoke. Many seem to have a problem with longevity but I get over 12 hours and the sweetness lingers throughout. It is quite linear but I don't mind it. And the sweetness is definitely not feminine but a smoky musky kind. I was surprised that to me this is very similar to Tobacco Vanille Tom Ford...

Probably the greatest designer of all time for me. Incredibly timeless and sensual. It doesn’t last or project at all but I’m just happy to have a bottle. Me and Dad stumbled upon it many years ago and we still use it for our nights out. Just wish we bought a backup bottle. I can’t believe they discontinued this masterpiece.

I was in the department store and placed a couple of sprays of this product on my arm. Wow, I love it! This is the second CK fragrance that I absolutely like and, up until recently, CK fragrances were dismissed as trendy and kidish. Not this particular one. I gotta have it in my fragrance wardrobe in the future.

I tried it at Sephora's and realize that this is a very good fragrance. I I usually don't apreciate much the Calvin Klein fragrances. I only have 2 frags from CK and this will be the 3d. It's not as dark as I would like it to be, but I know I will like it a lot anyway. I will review it after buying it.

Similar to YSL la nuit but the dry down is sweet. Very nice fragrance and well blended. Excellent for night time and it is sexy. The price is cheap and I'm happy with the purchase. It is a fragrance that you will not smell everywhere you go. It has a dark character and pleasing effect. I like it.

Im not really sure where all the hate for this one comes from. Personally I love this scent. The person who said this smells like Root Beer Bottle Caps pretty much hit the nail on the head. Think soda mixed with vanilla. I generally don't even like CK scents but can't wait to buy this.

a reasonably nice woody/suede sort of fragrance but fails in its strength and longevity.ideal for a lighter masculine quality for times where you want to smell nice but not making a statement....would think its a good work fragrance. it will still have its place in my wardrobe

Must be low turnover for this in my area. Just bought a brand-new bottle for $33.99 at my local pharmacy. I feel like I won the lottery. If you like vanilla-aromatic-leather scents, this may appeal to you. Reminds me of the CK Obsessed range. Very good juice.

really love this fragrance,my only complaint is i wish it was a little stronger,i can see the similarity with obsession,but its more of a modern version i feel,lovely,sweet,smooth drydown,lasts better on clothes.good value but a little hard to find.

This is a VERY good flanker, a better version of the original Obsession - Dark Obsession is a much more modern fragrance, fresh and with a very pleasant smell. One of the better Calvin Klein fragrances, much recommended but sadly discontinued

I wore DO yesterday, and it just represents the image of a man, my father, that cares enough to always properly groom themselves before leaving the home. It's overpriced so look for DO online. This is the modern version of Old Spice to me.

Very nice fragrance for the price. Strong and sweet and probably best for the colder weather. Considering you can get a 2.5 ounce bottle for $25 at the discounter stores like T.J. Maxx it's definitely worth it.

My hubby wears this. It smells great on him. Though, I am not pleased that most of the women in his office agree with me. I've heard women do like the way this smells on men. As a woman, I agree.

The moment I smelled this, I knew my girl would want it. It belongs in the longed-for category of "pirate perfumes"--leathery and boozy--for her. Fortunately I love it too.

Obsession Night (men) is similar to this. That one is great, too. Performs a little better also.

Clint Eastwood once said, "A man's got to know his limitations." The same thing goes for perfumes. No scent is the Be-All-End-All, and certainly not Dark Obsession. It's a spicy Obsession. That's what it is - that's what it does. And that's pretty much enough. I'm an Obsession fan literally from day one; bought a bottle on the initial hype, junior year of college, and I thought I was suave as all get-out, and wore it every chance I got to dress up. Milky-powdery Mister Smooth. Eventually, I got the taste for spicier stuff, and when Red for Men came out, I switched horses, and never looked back much - note my signature. I still have about 60% of that original Obsession bottle tucked away for when the time and circumstances allow. But now, I can have my cake and eat it too: Milky/Powdery/Spicy, all in one go. Given, wearing as many hats as it does, it isn't Definitive in anything; too smooth for Manly, too manly for Smooth. But it's a nice niche for when you're feeling like... a Manly Gentleman. "The Most Interesting Man In The World" might sig this stuff, if you follow my intention. For those of us with a more... decided personality, one way or the other, it does give you a small dose of identity issues, so be prepared for a little compromise. Be warned that there is a somewhat mortifying initial bloom of fir on first application, but that settles out within the first half hour. Plan your dosage accordingly. Over the next three hours, the spices rise and fade, leaving a more masculine Obsession to play out the rest of the round. Being a Calvin Klein, it's playing pretty safe, and won't take you anywhere you'd be afraid to go. A LOT of people on here have issues with longevity. I promise you this is not a universal complaint. I've worn this for two days straight, and on my skin this stuff is a radiating 12+ hour monster. Lucky me - unlucky them; as far as you are concerned, you may want to dig up a tester or sample, and see what side your skin falls on. Well worth it, if you're a fan of Obsession Original, but want a Slightly more edgy feeling.

Setting aside comparisons to its skateboarding younger brother CK Shock, this is Calvin Kleins most exemplary entry in the sweet category. It's not linear though. This is a performance in 3 acts. 3 distinct, seperate acts. Opening has 3 or 4 characters tumbling out on stage simultaneously. Green mandarin, guarana, the wormwood/absinthe accord, and vanilla. (The guarana is novel here, sort of a bright spiced coffee-fruit that gets an interesting kick from the wormwood that i can't properly describe.) The mandarin exits almost immediately upon opening, which is why i think most people don't rate it in their descriptions. The vanilla, guarana and wormwood play around with each other for awhile until everything suddenly changes into a powdery, soapy, lavenderless barbershop. This is act two, and its almost like I've been the victim of a bait-and-switch: Being sent to a very interesting South American sweets shop, but ending up at the barbers. Now that we're past the first hour and a half, the 3rd act drydown comes in, where the powder fades out and the vanilla quietly takes centerstage with labdanum and a very faint suede to give me a pleasant caramel note that stays until the end. Performance is moderate and sillage is low, as to be expected from CK. A female friend summed it up for me as: "Eat you. Throw you in the shower. Snuggle." I'm ok with that. Postscript- I think the trick to enjoying this is to enjoy how it changes. If you like the opening or middle notes and find yourself wanting that to last longer you will probably be disappointed. Buy a big bottle now if you see one at a discount store. I have a feeling after this gets discontinued, people will write the same kind of memory-lane-swoon reviews they currently do for anything made before the late 90's.

A couple of days ago, I saw this perfume at a store for a very attractive price--$35 for a 200 ml. bottle! After serious consideration (at that price, I thought it was not original), I decided to take the risk and bring it home. Recently sprayed, Dark Obsession smells very similar to classic Obsession For Men, with a lot of presence and sweetness; nonetheless, after ten minutes, it turns towards a different direction--you feel fruity sweet notes with vanilla, and the absence of musk gives it a more modern and clean touch. In addition, the absinthe provides the composition with a boozy aura. The herbal accords of clary sage, fir balsam, and vetiver strengthen the earthy character that is typical of classic Obsession, although the other notes take the perfume to a gourmand territory that is fresher and more dynamic, turning it into a magnificent reinterpretation of an "old" fragrance to conform to current times and tastes. Drydown is perhaps the best part since you perceive a kind of chocolaty cappuccino with vanilla and suede, which is very soft and pleasant. In terms of performance, Dark Obsession offers 5 to 7-hour longevity on skin, with low to moderate projection and sillage, attributes that can be enhanced when reapplying the perfume. It is mostly a nighttime fragrance, ideal for cool weather, although it can be used during the day. I think it can be over-applied without exceeding the sprays. It has good seductive potential due to its addictive notes. Despite its discreet performance, I've liked Dark Obsession a lot. Besides, because of its low price, I think the value for money relation is quite positive. Dark Obsession starts with a strong blast of wormwood and green mandarin that almost smells like Bazooka Joe bubble gum. It's pretty great: very clean, very strong, very piercing. After the initial bubble gum phase, Dark Obsession starts to reveal it's true nature. The mandarin note fades away and the vanilla and guarana start to show up. The wormwood mixes with the vanilla and guarana; it reminds me of mixing absinthe into a vanilla-coffee. During the drydown, the wormwood fades completely, the guarana eventually disappears, and the suede note shows up. The suede/vanilla(/vetiver I guess?) combine. The result smells powdered hot-chocolate mix. On my skin, with 3 to 4 sprays: Dark Obsession lasts for 6 to 9 hours on my skin. The drydown may go on for even longer. The initial bubble-gum opening projects for about 2 hours before calming down to the vanilla-coffee phase. After the opening, this fragrance stays within a few feet of me, as far as I can tell. The opening and the vanilla-coffee phase are my favourite parts of this fragrance. The drydown is a little bit boring, but it's still nice. If you don't like sweet-vanilla type fragrances, this will be cloying to you. However, if you do like vanilla, this stuff is great. The smell of this fragrance matches the bottle, but doesn't match the name. The bottle is smooth, matte, and non-reflective, which matches completely the smooth, powdery, creamy scent inside. The fragrance isn't as "dark" as it is "dark chocolate." SUMMARY: Smell: 7.5/10 Longevity: 8/10 Sillage: 7/10 Overall: 7.5/10 Bottle: 8/10

All I was able to detect from this was alot of vanilla with few spices to remind the nose its a male perfume, If the two perfumes of Sun,Moon,Stars and Eros ( by Lagerfeld & Versace) could have a baby, it would be Dark Obsession ,since it very vanilla with spices that makes it a very soft masculine and sensual perfume , the title doesn't fit the perfumes personality honestly but I imagine the new crew of the house of Calvin Klein over strained their imagination and just went with a old title name of their perfume line of getting obsession just for safe marketing keeps, personally I think they should have named it something else none related to obsessions , its still has that good classy casual scent that you will always be secure with CK's fragrances, but this perfume is very soft, sweet and spicy, on me it did not lasted a longtime by which it disappointed me, maybe on other men it lasts more but on me it vanished within a half hour. This is a good buy if you enjoy the a soft male or low key metrosexual kind of a fragrance ,personally from testing the new male fragrances line I enjoy Encounter & Aqua Eternity much more, but this Dark Obsession isn't like its predecessor Obession,which was intense ,chic, male and sexy, this Dark Obession very nice and a laid back vanilla guy that wont offend anyone at a office, nothing thrilling or smoldering sexy.

This fragrance is just so darn good that I felt I have found the perfect scent for my fall collection. There is just so much going on here: a thick accord of espresso, chocolate, soft leather, and smoke. This is a walk through dark mysterious woods with your jacket collar propped up against your ears, you see a tiny little house and enter it...a whiff of dark coffee, spices and tobacco assaults your senses...suddenly you are at home, safe...warm, comforting. I sense so much of Tom Ford’s Tobacco & Vanille in this blend, the guarana and vanilla are so expertly synchronized that the appearance of suede and balsam firs appeared natural and expected. There is nothing here offensive or uninviting. Overall a masterpiece in my mind; but like I have stated, this perfume is not for everyone. Hubby has tried on Dark Obsession and to my nose he does not project the same harmonious results that I fell in love with. The smell was off by a hair; that velvety blend got lost in a cocktail of scent fragments that never seemed to fit in anywhere; in fact some people find that there are no chocolates or coffee in this perfume at all. I was disappointed but also relieved; I guess this will be my personal fragrance after all. =] For the price and quality, I would recommend this one over Tobbaco & Vanille. It would be an adventure in gourmand heaven, and an unforgettable experience. Vienna.Pink

Fresh/spicy and sweet, this is what I get from Dark Obsession. Not overly sweet, more spicy than sweet. Beautiful for year round use, safe and versatile. I always loved CK house for its quality/price ratio no matter the performance which is good specifically for this Dark Obsession. Definitely the drydown is a mile better than its opening and it performs better in cool summer evenings like.. today. Not the best scent but decent and pleasant. My friend says it smells chocolate, I can't detect chocolate. All I get is well balanced vanilla with strong spices and a very pleasant vibe which looks like a mix of cacao/faint anise/lavender-ish mint candy, I guess this is guarana. I've never smelt guarana before. Vanilla and this strange combo have equal strenght. Vanilla is not the big boss as the note pyramide voting shows. I bought it in the spot 75 ml bottle with very good discount, really cheap. I also get noticeably sage, wormwood, mild suede and there's a faint mandarine throughout the whole life of it. Sometimes it reminds me energy drink or the delicious mix of coca-cola / coffee that I used to drink in Bulgaria. Very popular combo there. Sillage/projection are moderate. I'm still evaluating the longevity. It seems a moderate one, definitely is not weak like many CK offerings.

Dark Obsession by Calvin Klein is POWDERY SUEDE-SWEET/CREAMY-CINNAMON SPICE Almost exactly like CK Obsession Night (CKON) except the fruity pear (grape flavor) note in CKON is replace by guarana in CK Dark Obsession (CKDO) and the vanilla is amp'd up more in Dark Obsession, the guarana with the vanilla gives it a nice creamy chocolate accord (the cinnamon + vanilla + guarana combination is a gourmand lover's dream); the powdery (suede) & floralness indicative of the CK Obsession line is there big time but the floral and sweetness seems turned down a bit in CKDO at least in the dry down (i think the boldness of the suede cuts the sweetness) and it dries fairly quick, as where i would put Obsession Night in the unisex category for it's heavy floral and sweetness, Dark Obsession is unisex due to it's powdery sweetness, but it's a tad more masculine and easier to pull off for a man. Nice well balance composition of a fragrance none of the notes are loud or overly done but not light or quite either. Projection/Sillage is GOOD, nice 'scent bubble' for the first 1-2 hours after that it becomes in-close aromatic Performance/Longevity is GOOD, on average 6-8 hours

This is a winner, and to my nose is actually unique. How do I describe the scent... it's like Christmas. Citrus-spice-woodsy opening. Citrus is slight and quickly gives way to a combination of evergreens and almost a chai tea/root beer type vibe - must be the combo of guarana/absinthe and vanilla, I suppose. Smooth and very nice. The extended dry down draws back some of the evergreens and pushes forward a creamy vanilla suede accord, with just enough of the mid-notes to bring balance and keep it out of cloying territory. I think I have a problem... I can't stop sniffng this stuff on my damn arm. In general, Dark Obsession stays close (I think) and is not likely to telegraph itself - but at a close distance, I can see it being a major crowd pleaser. If there is one downside to this otherwise unique and wonderful fragrance, it's somewhat short-lived for me. Well worth using a little extra, though. Another triumphant blind buy! Dark Obsession is like a cup of Vienna. You know there's a lot of cream, there's milk, there's coffee but you still want to add in a spoon of sugar to sweeten the whole thing. There's more vanilla than I usually like for my scent but like a cup of Vienna, it's the cheat that allows myself every now and then, when I want to smell like temptation (like icing on a cake) for a night out. The base is nothing special, nothing spectacular, but just like a cup of Vienna, you take a sip and you whisper to yourself, "this is good" when it all blends together. If you don't like vanilla, wait about 15mins after you spray it on yourself and once the other notes come up, it would be like that first sip of Vienna, "this is good". Definitely not a daily wear or office friendly, but good for a movie night or chilling with a glass of wine.

When this flanker was introduced several years ago, I figured it's another money grab on a Iconic brand name. I decided to search out for a bottle and found one with my usual place that carries discontinued colognes. Luckily they had one bottle, I had to buy it. Orginal Obsession and Dark both a vanilla note except Dark has a definite spicy/suede vib as soon as you spray it on your skin. This juice also has more of a woody vib from the note guarana whereas the orginal has a amber note. Labdanum helps to balance the suede/woodsy/spicy vib which carries through til it's last hours on your skin. Longevity and Sillage is mid- above range without it being overbearing. It's a shame this juice was discontinued...please bring it back to market.. This a keeper now and I will enjoy it during the fall/ winter days....8.5/10

Got the small 20ml spray of Dark Obsession. I was super excited to try this since I wore Obsession back in the 90's. My excitement faded quickly after I sprayed 2x on my wrist. I got the initial citrus and vanilla but thats it. I could not pick up any of the original Obsession dna. When I smell a fragrance, I associate the scent with something or someone. For example: Mugler Pure Coffee smells to me like someone just got done rummaging through old, dingy, moldy keepsakes in an attic. To me it stinks. Or Original Santal makes me think of beautiful fall cloudy days when you see leaves of all bright colors on the ground. Dark Obsession smells like something my dad would wear to a funeral after he's had too much to drink. I don't like it. Next I'll try Obsession Night and see if thats any better.

This is a hidden gem, it's easily one of my most complimented fragrances. Girls go absolute bananas over this stuff. The amount of compliments I have received is insane It's definitely a Winter date night / intimate scent in the same category as The one, La'Nuit etc... it's modern, dark, masculine and very seductive. For anyone wanting a date scent this is perfect. even though they do not smell the same, this would be a great substitute for the now reformulated La'Nuit Del'Homme by Yves saint Laurent. Only downside being the longevity. I get an average of 4 hours with this. However I think the smell and the cheap price make up for this. Projection is also light, but being an intimate scent that is expected. Overall this is a dark, masculine Winter time seductive masterpiece.

----Interesting fragrance! It took me while to appreciate it. It has a nutty, creamy vibe with a touch of freshness at the top, probably the orange. I usually become anosmic to vanilla after 15-20 minutes so I get the suede leather and creamy, roasted nuts for the life of the fragrance. ----The suede is too prominent to my liking but it's a nice, smooth suede, almost like a brand new pair of high-quality suede shoes. ----It's a good fragrance, not very dark if you like leather, suede and it would definitely work in the cold winter months. For me, I enjoyed it but I would not buy a second bottle. So sample first before you buy because I ended up with a 120ML bottle and it took me a long time to finish it. Who knows, you might actually like it for yourself!
