Eternity Purple Orchid

Eternity Purple Orchid was a blind buy; I saw it super cheap at a discount store and I'm always intrigued by orchid scents, so I bought it. I figured this perfume might work for me since several reviewers on here have complained about how the soapy/almond notes are strong or drown out the floral note. My personal chemistry is notorious for having "interesting" effects on perfumes - like throwing floral note so strongly you can't smell anything else - so I figured that soapy/almond wouldn't be a problem. Not quite. On the first spray, I worried that I had a bust on my hands and that my body chemistry wasn't going to pull it's usual tricks. It smelled like soap - like "walking in on the Janitor refilling the fragrance-free hand soap in the bathrooms" soap. There were no flowers or fruits or almonds, it was just...soap. I gave it a couple of minutes before giving it another sniff. THERE was my chemistry throwing different notes - not that it was actually helping very much. Now I could smell extremely strong fruity nuts with a vague hint of flowers. Somehow the scent had actually become *stronger* and I was throwing the fruit & nut scents so strongly it was starting to smell like a gourmand scent...I HATE gourmands. I was convinced that this perfume was one that reacted badly with my body chemistry and that this blind buy was a total bust. 10 minutes later I gave it a last sniff on the way to wash it off before work and couldn't believe my nose; I had to actually double-check that this was the same perfume. It had dried down to this wonderfully sophisticated, warm-body scent that was a little powdery, a little sweet with a bit of spiced vanilla and a hint of a bitter green. I couldn't believe that something that had smelled so awful now smelled so good! I wore it to work instead of washing it off and actually received several compliments on it. Moral of the story: definitely wait for the full dry-down before writing off a perfume...it might be amazing! The sillage is not very big on me, but my co-workers standing next to me could catch enough of the scent to ask about it without setting off a fragrance sensitive co-worker. Surprisingly, this perfume had amazing longevity for me. Most perfumes last 3-4 hours at most with my body chemistry; I was catching hints of Eternity Purple Orchid and could still smell it on my skin the next morning! I've read in several reviews here that this is a delicate scent great for summer - not with how it dried down on me! I wouldn't be able to wear this on a Summer day in the hot climate I live in but, come dusk and a Summer evening, I know which perfume I'll be reaching for! ;)

I spotted the purple bottle peeking out behind a couple of others at Marshall's and thought "is this a summer flanker I missed at some point". I bought it as a blind buy, as I prefer the summer versions to the original Eternity. I just find them more interesting and they usually have some kind of purple note (not always), like hyacinth. Purple box, purple bottle, must have purple notes...maybe plum. I came home and immediately looked it up to see what this wonderful community had to say, and here I am. Three sprays later, plummy-orchid-helioptrope goodness. I love heliotrope with a light hand. This is almost comforting in its quiet delivery, very soft. I would definitely wear this in the office and it reminds me a little of the summer flanker 2012 in the coral/salmon bottle. Sophia Grojsman did that one also, so makes sense. I see there are a lot of fans of this, so somehow it is showing up again. This is one to check out as a winter pick-me-up. I think I can wear it through early spring and start again late summer. It is really pretty, and to me the plum is not a sweet plum like in Midnight Fantasy. The plum is more "watercolour" purple because of the lotus, green notes and musk. The whole fragrance is "soft", no sharp edges, really enjoyable. Why was this ever discontinued?

Eternity CK, Eternity Purple Orchid is a quite unique scent. Huge on heliotrope, this is for me the definition of a purple scent. More than 10 years ago I owned a bottle of this beauty. As the time passed, I couldn't find it anywhere and couldn't get it out of my mind. Last year I came across it, bought a few back ups and I'm so glad I did. I've been using it as a perfume therapy, I use it when I want to feel extra confident. Soft as a hug, yet powerful enough to make an impression. People are intrigued by this scent, and although I'm not a compliment hunter, I do enjoy receiving one on my fragrance from time to time. This is a very special scent and I can't believe it's so unknown and underrated.

Browsing in the stores for what's new. YES. I read all your reviews and YES I bought. Thank you everyone!! Sometimes it is a flop but not this one. Absolutely divine. I don't smell anything plummy here. It's floral mostly with a powdery subtle musky dry down. If these are your likes then you could wear this anytime in any season. The purple bottle is stunning. I wore the original Eternity but it could be a bit strong and never finished the bottle I also wore an Eternity Summer version to the end, which folks around me loved ( a soft colored bottle) Thank you, thank you for leading me to buy this. I smell soooo nice!

I adore this smell... it is really me :) On my skin it opens with crisp, clean green notes yet there's a hint of an attractive bouquet lingering in the background. It moves on to make your mouth water with the plumlicious scents of fruit. The floral notes of this perfume are ever present but are balanced so well with the base notes that none are allowed to dominate! To me, it is a playful smell... that teases your senses.

My all time favorite and now it's being discontinued. This scent makes me feel amazing. I get lots of compliments on it. I wear it during the day and night. And find it fine for summer, autumn and winter. It's decidedly not a springtime scent (IMHO). It's got a powdery, floral start that's balanced with fruit. The drydown is my favorite part, warm and comforting.

My aunt Veronica ( RIP) loved this perfume , and it loved her back.It was her signature for about 3 years, on her a sweet plum, peaches, some watery florals then a powdery heliotrope and vanilla cloud that lingered.I have read reviews of its weak sillage , but on her skin she got moderate projection, noticeable sillage and many compliments.

I bought this as a blind buy eau de parfum version for a steal. I was impressed with the orchid, heliotrope, plum and musk scent. A light, fresh scent for spring. I didn't detect almond or powder. It reminded me more of a garden iris scent. I appreciated that it wasn't a heavy or overly sweet fragrance. I would purchase it again.

I absolutely loved this perfume! I have been so disappointed that CK discontinued a perfect fragrance! Every time I am in a store and make comment about Purple Orchid, everyone just moans and agree's that it was a wonderful fragrance and that CK always discontinues it's best fragrances! Wish they would bring it back!

I can't get enough of this lovely concoction. I get so many compliments on it it's unreal. I was so sad to see it discontinued because it's now my signature. I'll grab a bottle whenever I can at Marshalls and online. I'm not really good at describing scents, but this one smells like spring in a bottle.

An unsung masterpiece. Adore this fragrance. Softly sweet heliotrope balanced by woodsy notes. This fragrance seems to float and is very airy. It has amazing sillage and lasting power. It is pure poetry. I just can't get enough of this magic in a bottle. Why has it been discontinued? So sad

I don't particularly care for CK perfumes, but this one is different! In fact when I was looking for a 'tropical' perfume for my caribbean wedding, this one is the one I picked. Very exotic without being over done, and has great staying power! Love it!

Such a beauty! CK scents don't usually do much for me, nor do they usually last on my skin for more than a few moments.This one though is love, and lasted for hours, so of course it is discontinued..so sad!

Oh, what a beautiful orchid scent! So subtle, light and soft but not in an immature way. I'd say it's kind of a melancholic fragrance. Like purple colour itself. Suitable for spring and summer days.

My sister used to wear this YEARS ago. I have just received it in the post. One spray and i was jetted back in time! Still as wonderful, clean, beautiful and interesting as I remember it to be...!

This was my signature, then BOOM discontinued. I was so glad to find it in Marshall's. I purchase a bottle every time I see it. #stock piling. It smells like what love feels to me. DIVINE.

I'm in a purple haze of eternity as we speak. It's floral, it's musky without being overpowering. I just can't stop sniffing myself. <3

I don't find it similar to amethyst at all

When I first tried this in a sample it smelled to me like an alcoholy sweet white floral and cheap then fruity in the drydown. I chalked it up as an okay and wrote it off. Then, i had the chance to get a .5 oz bottle inexpensively, read the reviews and decided to try again. This second round is totally different. I wondered if I was even smelling the same fragrance. This wearing, it is a salty floral aquatic. Lots of salt and aquatic notes. It still has that huge burst of alcohol in the top when you spray it. There's heliotrope for sure. Very pretty and fresh for summer. To my nose, this is all about the water lily first and foremost then musk, heliotrope and a hint of plum or peach. There are light green notes like dew on plants in the morning and a hint of a sharpness of freesia or orchid.

I saw these for a great deal at TJ's. I purchased the last few bottles. I figured they are discontinued why not? This was a blind buy and the scent is very nice and extremely long lasting which is a surprise since it goes on fairly light. The fragrance itself would be best described as a delicate feminine soft floral. I can't call it my favorite scent because it's not the most complex but it's a very safe soft and memorable scent. I think it would make a nice gift as it's quite non offensive. Just for the record it smells nothing like the original Eternity which to my nose is quite unpleasant.

Found a 100ml bottle at TJ Maxx for $25 a few months back. Last week there were more bottles so it's worth checking if you're a fan! This is a very clean floral with a bit of powder, not something I would typically go for but I was pleasantly surprised by how nice this was for cool spring mornings.

Has a little bit of masculine smell (not at first but once on the skin for an hour) but it's nothing I have overwhelming or terrible. I just hate it doesn't last. I like it, since I do like cologne a bit lol

on me it’s like Nivea Creme, the universal creme with characteristic smell... it‘s ok for work when I want to smell clean and fresh but don‘t want atract too much attention...

Very light, demure, feminine for sure.. I could not enjoy it until the top notes wore off. It wasn't very interesting until perhaps one half hour had passed. Then I could really feel that great composition that is a Floral Woody Musk- gentle, intriguing, lovely..The freesia is there, loud and clear, the orchid is faint. The original Eternity is still recognizeable here (unfortuneately). As for the base, it seems to have vanilla in it, but it's not too heavy... It must be result of the mix of (very artificial smelling) almonds, musk, and the woodsy notes (perhaps cedar and / or Brazillian rosewood). I am not too impressed by this scent. For its positive points- it has the CK style, and it's a delicate, unassuming, possibly classy, "nice" floral.

There's something about Calvin Klein fragrances that have never agreed with me. There's an alcoholic quality that seems to singe my nose hairs a bit, no matter how pleasing the notes accompanying the mixture tend to be. On the bright side, this is an upbeat almost citrusy, fresh smelling floral. When I go in to smell it, I think, "Well, that's not so bad!" And then comes the aforementioned alcoholic 'aftersmell' that dries the back of my throat, and gives it a soapy masculine bite that just doesn't agree with me. Almost, Eternity Purple... almost!

I have yet to enjoy one female CK fragrance. Although not mentioned in notes, there is a heavy synthetic smell mixed with talc that never leaves any of the CK femme perfumes on the dry down. So sad cause this one at first is quite beautiful! Seems that the mens CK scents never affect my gag reflex like the female ones. Anyone else have this reaction? I worked with so many women in the 80's who bathed in Obsession then the 90's with Eternity moving on to Angel in the 21st century ugghhh some of the worst headache gagging perfumes ever!!!

I bought this on a blind buy from Fragrancenet.com. I fell in love with the purple bottle as soon as I saw it. I have loved all of the Eternity flankers in the past, so I figured I would like this one, too. Wrong. All I smelled when I sprayed this perfume was violet, which I do not like in a fragrance. I was surprised that I can find no other reviews that reference the violet smell. There are plenty of the Purple Orchid perfumes for sale on Ebay if you need one.

Purple is my favorite color so I'm always looking the the perfect purple scent. I didn't care for this one even though I loved the name and the bottle. I was expecting more floral and all I got was super sweet citrus and woods. And what is it about CK perfumes? Are they all so teeth-achingly sweet? Maybe it's just the Eternity line that's like that. Oh well, the search continues.

Thank you to whoever sent me a sample. You saved me from a very bad blind buy. At first I thought it was OK and then BAM! Grandma I didn't know you were visiting...oh wait that's me. It seriously turns into powdery grandma bathroom on my skin.

I was hoping from the notes that this would be sweeter and warmer. But wearing it, it seems more watery aquatic florals, very clean. The opening especially the is cold and sharp, pretty harsh.

A bit masculine until drydown. Then it becomes passable. Disappointed

Eternity Purple Orchid is really nothing like the original Eternity. This flanker is not so clean and flowery, in some ways it seems darker and more unique. I was initially struck by how sweet and plummy the scent was. It was somehow rich and dramatic, yet light and airy at times. I enjoyed it because it had this interesting sensual and fruity soapiness, which was rather difficult to describe. The fruit notes, like the peach and plum are quite candied and jam-like, so when blended with the soft, soapy floral accords, Eternity Purple Orchid smells like a watered-down, flowery gourmand. If that is even possible. I guess the almond and vanilla notes towards the drydown further my opinion. Despite being a confusing fragrance to my nose, it was one that I quite liked. For the first few hours I couldn't stop smelling it. At times it can be a little chemical smelling and bland, but when compared to other Eternity flankers, this fragrance fares quite well. The packaging itself, with its eye-catching purple bottle, is quite alluring. It's hard to walk past such an interesting looking fragrance. I think in a weird kind of a way, Eternity Purple Orchid, while not an orchid based scent, is very 'purple' in its approach. What I'm trying to say is that the colour suits the scent's personality. Unfortunately the longevity is not all that impressive. I would have liked the fragrance to last just that little bit longer. But all in all, I'm happy to have found this fragrance before it disappears altogether as it was an experience in itself.

A purple darling and a wonderful flanker that actually smells very little like the original Eternity - which is a good thing since having the same perfume re-created over and over again is a bit pointless. When applied it bursts out in green notes and lots of florals, not in an overly floral way but in a warm, sensual way. I guess its due to the woodsy and musk note that almost immediately join the "purple" bouquet of flowers that unfolds. Halfway before the dry-down I smell something light and breezy (water lily?) and a hint of fruit that compliments this elegant, and fresh fragrance very well. A sensual and somewhat heavier formulation than the original Eternity. More suitable for evening wear. Elegant and sexy in a sophisticated way. Silage is: "elegant warm florals are all around me" - Longevity is great: 7+ hours of purple flower haze. If you can still find it try it. It's an Eternity reminiscent scent with a darker, warmer and sexier twist.

Eternity Purple Orchid is like the stronger, sweeter, night time version of Bvlgari Omnia Améthyste. It has pretty much the same notes as Améthyste but has the vanilla orchid that sweetens this up just a little making it even more alluring for night time use. I like to wear Omnia Améthyste during the day, and layer Eternity Purple Orchid over it going into evening if I'm going out with friends. I'm telling you they pair well together. If you like one, you will like the other because it's not sickeningly sweet. I can still find this online and at Marshall's or TJ Maxx around this time of year (April) or just getting into summer. I could never wear the original Eternity because it just didn't mesh well with my skin, but I could wear this. I know it's been discontinued, but as long as I can get a bottle of this I'll be happy.

Almost off putting green, aquatic floral opening. I agree with a reviewer below that it is definitely not a 'cold' green. Within a few minutes ... I thought it was gone. Bummer. No matter how much I sniffed my arms or down my top - I just couldn't smell it. So I left the house feeling severely ripped off! HOWEVER!!! 20 minutes later I was going about my day when suddenly I SMELLED the color PURPLE? True. This gorgeous, delicate waft of orchid rose to greet me...and I SAW purple in my mind. Sooooo strange! My first real 'smell color' experience. This is one of those perfumes that doesn't allow you to poke and prod it. If you chase it...you can't smell it! You have to be patient (almost forget about it even) and it will come to you...with a most alluring, gentle, pleasing caress. Ahhhhhhhhh :)

As someone here already mentioned it's in similar family with Nivea creams. Soapy, white floral, clean, refreshing with hint of green, watery feel and something bit harsh-bitter. Feminine, floral, bit young due to freshness. After some time something bitter appears. I can feel more musk and it becomes softer and warmer creamy. This musk makes this perfume smell bit like sweat (at least for me). At this point it starts to fit purple color, but mostly it's white floral hand cream. It was launched in 2003 and smells like from that time line, not vintage, but bit old fashioned, reminds something from 90s to 2000. I see this perfume worn by everyday woman. She just want to feel clean, confident and beautiful. Romantic, but office safe.

Half of the wondrous experience of Purple Orchid is the beautiful bottle it comes in. I only have a mini bottle, but it is a lovely, royal purple, an electric purple that makes one feel almost regal with it on their bathroom counter. The juice itself is lush and aggressive at first spray, and surrounds the wearer in a fruity, musky, cloud of sheer enjoyment. I can detect the same fruity and woody accords found in Mugler's Womanity when I wear this, especially the longer I wear it. Plums and pure clean soap, as well as a slight nuance of orchid venture in and lead the way to a slightly tart drydown. Like most of Calvin Klein's fragrances this is not something I could wear everyday, but when I do, I really enjoy it.

Blind buy and unfortunately I had to return it. I thought it just smelled soapy on me and even though I know some scents take awhile to develop, this one just never did. Had I not paid a lot for it, I may have kept it in my collection to try at a later day, but lately, there are so many scents I am looking forward to trying. I mean how many can a person have and wear in a lifetime. Too bad they aren't drinkable - that is how many I have. LOL. But I love this passionate hobby however it came about and feel very privileged to have get so much enjoyment from them. And when I think there are just so many more to experience and they are all so unique, it truly is an enjoyable pleasure to collect them when I can.

I am in agreement with Aromatyu about the unisexness which I attribute to a surprising ozonic, almost aquatic note, maybe that is the water lily? It's very strong and interrupts the flow. From the description I was expecting a soft, cleanish fruits and white floral top and heart and a cozy powdery base due to the orchid, heliotropin, almond, musk, and wood notes. Kind of like a fruitier, lighter, fresher Euphoria with almonds. But that one marine note really put an end to it and kind of masculinizes it for me. It's not a bad scent just not what I was expecting from the description and I really don't smell the orchid or almonds whatsoever and those notes were the primary reason why I bought it.

Voordat ik deze voor mijn verjaardag kreeg dacht ik dat er maar een eternity bestond. Dus toen mijn neef me vroeg wat ik wilde hebben zei ik eternity. Ik keek er dan ook best raar vanop toen hij me in de winkel op belde om te vragen welke kleur ik wilde g hebben. Ik dacht huh zit dategenwoordig in gekleurde flessen ja? Dus ik zei. Doe maar een paarse. Ik dacht echt dat het om een en dezelfde geur ging en dat dat gewoon in gekleurde flessen gedaan word. Hoe heb ik dat nou toch kunnen denken! Dit is een doorsnee geur. Echt fan ben ik niet van deze geur. Daarvoor moet ik toch echt bij de gewone eternity zijn

Eternity Purple Orchid was my signature back in my heyday in the Army. I had bought it at the PX, and was immediately hooked. I remember leaving one of my sweatshirts in one of the barracks rooms where we had a party, and it came back into my possession the next day, simply for the fact that "it smelled like mine". Of course, all good perfumes get discontinued, in my case anyway, and from the other reviews, I seem to be in good company when it comes to mourning the loss of this great fragrance. If anyone decided to petition CK to bring this one back, I will be more than happy to join in on the cause.

Delicate, musky, soft powdery. Floral, yes, also very heliotrope centred. A powdery skin scent. There is some lovely green spring note, some aquatic freshness and delicious fruits. A harmonious blend that does indeed smell purple. Purple Orchid has a clear touch of Sophia Grojsman: a little blurry, not straightforward, foggy, delicate, soft, light, elegant, happy. A younger and less serious creation but it is still a relative to Tresor, Vanderbilt, YSL Paris.

Yuck! I rarely scrub a perfume off, but after writing this review, I'm scrubbing this perfume off. This one is just way too woody for me. I find this to have very few redeeming qualities. Update: For some of you, a redeeming quality of this might be that it seems to be hard to even scrub off! After soaping up twice and scrubbing, it's still on there. If you like the scent, that's at least a plus.

Agree with alll the remarks on the floralness (is it even a word?..) and longevity of this fragrance but don't disregard that it might play a unisex trick on you. After all, it comes from the designer of the most successful unisex scent, right? On me it is unisex, and it's not my thing, unfortunately.

What a beautiful fragrance, my sister loves Eternity Purple Orchid, you can go wrong with this fragrance. Just For reference EPO can’t be a cheaper version of Guerlain L’Instant Magic, Eternity PO was launched in 2003 way before L’Instant Magic (2007).

Finally after reading all the reviews got this one from TJ. Soft floral powdery, light and not lasting, pleasant, but nothing special, better for work, summer or bed time))) The original Eternity /old formula was a stunner, nothing comes close to that

It was a sublte fragrance. Gentle woodsy and heliotrophe notes combined together gives a impression of clean smell. Longevity so good, and there was some sillage too. Had sample of Eternity Purple and wont buy a bottle as its discontinued.

Not very complex but great for a change of summer perfume - I keep it in my travel bag so to use it once in awhile is perfect but because it is so simple. You would not want to wear it everyday.
