Obsession for Men

I'm 39, this is a classic I will never stop wearing or loving. Memories stored in a bottle. There is something about the spicy warm cinnamon, amber, woodsy scent of this that is intoxicating. I know some shade will be thrown but when you layer this over top of Kammarah, it is amazing! Now, the new formulation is made by Coti which is great still. A little more citrus and a little more vanilla but mainly the sillage and longevity suffered bc reduction in fragrance oils. Go back to Unilever in the 90s who made a killer version of this that could be smelt for days. Then back to the original. 'Manufactured by Calvin Klein Cosmetics' made in USA. Straight from the artist to the bottle. That stuff is true beast mode. I own a bottle of it. They don't bother with Eau de toilette, eau de parfum, parfum, etc. It just says all caps. OBSESSION FOR MEN COLOGNE. No atomizer to b---- about, pop the lid tip it and splash that stuff on. Now it's not going to be popular for mid 20s and under in majority. Unless you are awesome and wear what you want instead of trends. All formulations are great. New ones require a lot more sprays and it isn't the same as the first 2 producers but still great. This was everywhere in the 80s and 90s. It still sells a ton. 38 years strong. There is a reason for that. You will never find anything like it, closest may be wanted by night as far as modern frags. Old school Elizabeth Taylor Passion for Men hits some similar notes but not even close and dries down to a soft powdery scent. This is grown man juice. Stack it next to Drakkar Noir and Fahrenheit. Seriously, get even a small cheap bottle if you haven't tried it. It's like nothing else and you will love it or hate it, guaranteed. The old formulations are killer if you find a well preserved bottle. Also Dua brand makes His Obsession that is a clone of the strong spicy cinnamon, nutmeg, creme Brulee and amber goodness. I ordered one, fingers crossed. Again new formula is good but a light version of original. Trust me. Sometimes I just spray this in the house in fall as it is just lovely spice for this time of year. I have too much of it now lol. I have the old version with letters all Caps that is a splash on edt, splash cologne, an old edt spray made by CK cosmetics, mini splash bottle all Caps, and a 2018 version by coti, and a 2023 version by Coti. All of that probably bought for $120. So I have probably 18 oz of it lol. But it's more of a collection item as it is a formula that's changed. So, all that said I think the older version stands out and has a creamier under tone. Problem is, the vintage stuff is approaching 30 to 40 years old so it's beyond maturing lol. If anything they have oxidized too much. If you plan on keeping a fragrance for a long long long time I have heard keeping it in the fridge works pretty well. But the new version to me is still 🔥 and has an awesome unique scent profile. Fresher is better in general so don't misunderstand that part.

Bought a modern bottle (4201 [Coty]) for dirt cheap just cause I didn't want to go through my older batch (E213Z [CKCC]) and there are clear changes. Besides the obvious aesthetic differences like the smaller atomizer (Ralph Lauren did the same with Polo) and translucent cap, the new version cut out a significant portion of the heavier animalics, florals, diluted the woods and chopped up the blend. Fortunately, the opening remains remarkably intact and almost as magnificent as the old stuff. It's basically a blast of cinnamon, soapy amber and oldschool florals, but with a very balmy texture. Out of the gate the blend is excellent, but it sadly starts breaking down after only 30 seconds. From there, the cinnamon starts to amplify, the complexity vanishes and the blend separates into that balmy soapy core and a bunch of spices. It's literally like they lowered the bass volume from 8 to 2, cranked the spice and cut the mid entirely. Whereas the vintage (now aged of course) remains a super rich floral amber and woods with the spices blended in virtually flawlessly. Strong too. The new one almost feels like they created it specifically to scent a bar of soap. Passable, but only just. Fortunately, I will say that the very far base is about 80% the same up close, only very tame in projection. Longevity isn't bad actually - maybe a good 7 hours - but extremely faint, becoming a skin scent within the first hour. So it's weak for sure. The good news is that it still gives me that nostalgia if I overspray on clothing, but I can tell it's a hollowed-out shadow of its former self, just like with Polo and D&G Pour Homme. Definitely has that "watered down" vibe after only 20 minutes, but at least they didn't cut out the core. That balmy and soapy cinnamon is still there till the very end. I suppose a plus for some is that the muting of those lipstick-like elements from the original makes it slightly more masculine after the opening? Personally, I think that's really what made this fragrance so endearing and provocative, besides the heavy use of musks. In its current form, it's still a like but not a love. If you're looking for an alternative, I'd say just get the new stuff and overspray on clothing to keep that great opening for as long as you can. People won't mistaken it if they're familiar with the vintage. And of course, most under the age of 30 will likely still associate it with the....ahhh...elderly. Haha nothing you can do about that. Really was bracing for the worst, but at least Coty didn't sugarize or "modernize" the formula by adding a bunch of those awful woody ambers. Despite the reform, it still gets a single hollow thumbs up.

THE MYSTERIOUS GEM In the '80s, when everything was loud, powerful, and wild, Obsession broke the alpha male stereotype, becoming a sensual figure who explored the deep intrigues of new horizons. One of the reasons is that it ranks among the top ten of that decade alongside true powerhouses like Kouors, Polo, and Drakkar Noir by his own style, is pure Aura. A few sprays and you feel you travel to ancient Arabic world: dense, laden with spices, incense, resins but not the "new" Arabic world where predominate vanilla essence, Obsession is more strong spices, resins, dense amber, animal notes and lots of warmth. Is remain me too much to Opium YSL and Egoiste and if you looking for a budget choice I'll highly recommend you Passion by Elizabeth Arden and Zino by Davindoff, all 5 are the same family. When you' use it: This perfume is definitely for Fall/Winter season, DON'T you ever thing to wear in summer coz someone is going to call to 911 by air intoxication, is very very strong with long lasting and strong sillage. Isn't design to clubbing like Eros but a romantic dinner, isn't sweet but aromatic. In daytime is shinning?? Not really, I used a few times here in Japan where I lives where the winter isn't that bad compare with Europe and definitely isn't match it all. Just keep it for an special occasion with a reunion for dating and let the fragrances do the rest involved in a incredible aura where you can't reach but you can dream. I really love it this perfume. To the new generations: If you are new in the 80s perfumes this is the one you must to own, is a forgotten gem that surprisingly nowadays it would work(if you forget the sweetness) so good because in the world of Tik Tok or "influencers" like other parasites from Youtube lying on Arabic sweet fragrances for the mass appeal , Obsession resemble Lattafa series but without sweetness but spicy, the real Arab one. It doesn't matter if you're not familiar with this branch of perfumes, believe me, your partner will be at your feet and you'll leave that feeling of a mysterious and intriguing person that makes them fall in love with every drop you put on. I've already reviewed this fragrance a year ago but I just had to come back to appreciate it once again. I've said it before that this is one of the few masculine fragrances I appreciate because I always find myself disliking "masculine" scent profiles but this is different !! despite saying that I liked this back then I was quite unsure whether I truly enjoyed wearing it because there were days where it would smell way too fougere for my liking and I'm just not the biggest fan of fougeres if done too "masculine" which was the exact issue I had with obsession. Also, this fragrance reminded me too much of my grandpa... now i don't want to be very "ageist" when it comes to fragrances because I think it's too shallow to just dismiss a well-crafted fragrance for that reason like imagine being a perfume snob? fucking boring. it took me quite some work to really love LOVEEE this fragrance because I was leaning more towards the classic obsession for women (A MASTERIECE BTW) but after a few wears of this, i've finally learned that it's just as good as the women's !! <3 I also think that layering Kenzo Jungle L'Elephant was the formula that made me fully claim this fragrance (PLEASE TRY THIS LAYERING COMBO !!!! it makes it smell sweeter as it makes the cinnamon more prominent) truly, this is one of the sexiest fragrances i've ever smelled. it's not super raunchy and skanky but it is such a sex beast, although i didn't intend to wear it for "sexy" reasons lmao I just wanted to be odd or different. it's sweet, has a touch of animalic musk without being offensive and STANK, it resembles a leather couch from the 80s, it's very cola-y and quite cinnamon-y, spicy but not in a beef dry rub way, warm and quite powdery, velvety, and delicious. idk whenever I wear this i feel like i just had good sx with someone but ew i don't rlly want to feel like that so i just think i smell like a sexy cola.

I get it... these are strange days we live in. Men want to smell like Smurf farts bubbling up through a fruit roll-up sea of cotton candied Kool-Aid. But not me... not today anyway. Today I smell like Zeus’s beard after leaving the Mount Olympus Barber Shop of the Gods. Today I smell like Adonis perched on a pine stump holding a hand-woven sandalwood basket of amber and aromatic spices while being fanned with exotic flowers by cinnamon and vanilla-winged cherubs. Today men are offering me their wives as tribute. Today women are asking me to train their husbands in the art of manliness. Because today I’m wearing Obsession. Seriously though, this juice is warm, comforting, and spicy and exudes elegance and confidence. It is as provocative, alluring, and sensuous today as it was when I wore it in high school in the late 80’s. It can be dressed up or down and worn day or night; and is at its absolute best during the coldest times of the year. It opens with a floral citrus blast that is balanced by the peppery nuances of coriander and the powdery warmth of cinnamon. The fleeting citrus quickly fades as the fragrance begins to shine. The spicy clove-like qualities of carnation and the comforting warmth of nutmeg are the real players here. Sweet, herbal hints of pine are apparent in the background, while the entire heart is balanced and subdued by the floral qualities of jasmine and the creamy softness of sandalwood and amber. The spiciness fades, but makes its presence known from time to time as it settles into a powdery smooth, milky base of vanilla, sandalwood, and amber that is balanced by the clean freshness of white musk. Obsession is a beautiful, well-balanced, timeless masterpiece of a fragrance that will surely garner you countless compliments. If you don’t have it, do yourself a favor and make it part of your fall and winter rotation. You’ll be glad you did!

This was my OG scent from back in the day. Man, I loved this stuff. Worked really well with my body chemistry. Takes me back to high school Friday and Saturday nights prowling the mall! Would I buy it again? Probably not, as I've moved on to other things, but I have to give props to the fragrance (along with Polo and Drakkar) that started it all for me! Update: after watching several YouTube influencers reviewing old school scents (they must need some fresh, new material?), I decided to pull the trigger on a 4oz tester of Obsession for $20. Obviously, it's been reformulated over the years. It's still Obsession like I remember, for sure, but not as potent. Projects for about an hour, then dries down to a skin scent for the rest of the day. Light and inoffensive, you can wear this pretty much year-round and in all occasions. Not as good as I remember, but not a terrible pickup for twenty bucks. For me, it was worth it for the nostalgia factor alone! Read a Fragrantica review that said to layer it with something sweet. She recommended Khamrah and Mandarin Sky (I have both). This is an excellent suggestion. To my knows, it mutes the sweetness a bit, and boosts the performance/longevity. It did this on both counts... plus it smells amazing! Layered this with Khamrah and it was still going strong after 15 hours! I think the reformulated version of Obsession may be better for layering than as a stand-alone scent? Thomas Wolfe was right when he said "you can't go home again." Honestly, unless you're really jonesing for a trip down memory lane, if I were you I'd spend my money elsewhere.

Obsession is my husband's signature scent. I will love it (and him!) forever. He was wearing it when I met him in August of 1995. I think it was part of the reason I fell so deeply in love with him. I am a very scent oriented person, and scent is my strongest sense, if that is the right way to say it. I've always had poor eyesight and I had my hearing damaged due to so many ear infections as a child. As a result, most of my memories are triggered by scent. One whiff of Obsession on my husband, even all of these years later, makes precious memories of us, especially when we were young, fill my mind. While we were still in college, everyone in my classes must have thought I was a complete weirdo because I remember sitting in lectures, sniffing my hands, enjoying his scent even then. He wore it the entire time we dated, he wore it the entire time we were engaged, and he wore it on our wedding day. Now he doesn't wear it as often, as he is a blue collar worker. But when he does wear it, I'm still transported back to those early days and the young love we had before we began our life together. This November we'll celebrate 27 years of marriage - and you can be sure that Obsession will be part of our celebrations. In my opinion, Obsession is sexy and beautiful, well blended and gorgeous, even if I didn't have all of these memories attached to it. It's no surprise that I love Obsession for women as well. I haven't found another fragrance that so perfectly smells spicy without too much spice, and it is beautiful from spray to dry down. I will love it forever and ever!

When I first came across this scent, I wasn't very happy about it. I bought a bundle of vintage samples on Ebay and Obsession (vintage) was one of the glasstubes. Without me knownig much about fragrances I poured quite a bit on me and was instantly repelled. Sharp, very loud, overpowering...I thought, and was quite annoyed of my decision to use that one. After some time I went on a walk and my mind changed about the scent. The heavy storm from the beginning calmed down and I was smelling some warm "red" scent, that made me feel calm and I got some very cosy vibes. After that I got a "cologne spray" bottle and this one is so complex, that it always comes out a little different. Sometimes I smell the myrhh very much and it comes across more sacral, other days it comes across as a "red lavender". That complex nature keeps the scent interessting to me, because it really is not a linear scent, showing different facettes depending on your day. Many people call it old manish or dated (maybe the opening a bit), but I think there are for more dated smelling scents. I have never smelled an old man wearing such a scent. In fact I have smelled this on some women and I thought it was suiting them really well. The trick with this one is to use it lighty, as it is really a heavy hitter. I guess back in the day people used too much of it and then it got a little offputtig for some.

I was curious about this one since a long time. Reasonably priced, 1986 fragrance with background. Finally, i decided to purchase it. And i ́m glad i did. I have smelled already this somewhere, sometime.... For my nose, and not going into the most detailed notes, I find it is in the same vibe as : Boss no1 (but castoreum free), Oscar de La Renta pour Lui, Fahrenheit. I mean "vibe" because they fit the same purpose : Elegant fragrances that by today ́s standards will make you smell good and different from everybody else. But, they can outrun you, so ideally you are over 35/40 and fairly confident to use them without concerns. From all these, you can use CK Obcession or Fahreneit daily without much concerns at all. It smells really good, project and lasts properly along the day and goes through all phases very nicely. It ́s not just about cinnamon. There ́s more to this. Feels oily and fairly concentrated given it ́s a 1986 fragrance that may have been subject to changes over time. If you know "Oscar de la Renta pour Lui", think that CK Obcession is similar, but less soapy, less Aldehydes and with an orange/cinnamon twist. It ́s a great scent for a date or a night out. A little bit on the unisex side of things. Also a very romantic and cozy fragrance. CK Obcession is not modern perfumery, but it can definitely be a signature fragrance today.

Well theyve done an (OK) job with the reformulations, but OFCOURSE it doesn't lasts nearly as long as it did back in the day, but theyve done a decent job on the actual dna. Its a tad bit more Spicey/Cinnamon nowadays whereas before there was a more soapy/musky quality to Obsession Men, and it was even a bit more "Masculine" back then vs nowadays I believe bc of a stronger Lavender note (They may have modernized I guess?) It now lasts 5 maybe 6 hours on skin but becomes a skin-scent within 3 or so hours. Before Obsession men lasted ALL DAY LONG and with just a few spritzes would REALLY fill a room. Still worth buying in its current formulation tho for under $30 on a 4oz bottle and imo makes a great, cozy Bed-Time scent bc it still has at least a bit of that soapy, relaxing Lavender along with the soft-cozy spices. Starts off strong but tones down rather quickly, still tho, there are definately way worse reformulations! Im lookin' at YOU Ralph Lauren's-Polo and Dior's- Fahrenheit edt! Now I've only had my bottle for just about a week now so my bottle's over-all performance may improve over-time (Maturation). Ill be back with an update.

Obsession....wow, it's strange that I haven't tested this until today. It's spiced, blended, and is one of those olfschool fragrances that just feels full to the brim. All of the citruses in the opening mash together with the cinnamon, it's fresh, but also smells of a kitchen spice drawer. There's something in here, or some combo of things that smell aged...but in a mature and deliberate way. Like, the ingredients are left to macerate together until they've melded properly. It leads me to think of something boozy, although I know there's nothing listed that would contribute to that sensation. I disagree that this smells current, but that is far from criticism...it's just that designer things don't tend to smell so complex lately. This has so much happening, yet...it happens smoothly. It's unapologetic, noticeable and definitely beastly, but it's comforting all the same. I smell sandalwood, I smell the oldschool florals, all hemmed in and nestled in a bed of spice 😊🍁🍂 This is intoxicating in the right ways, and although I think it could be worn on either gender, I would prefer it on men personally (wear what you like).

Given that I hate masculine scents, especially old men smelling ones, this fragrance to me is like having a Stockholm syndrome. Yes, the youth from today’s generation (which i’m a part of) will hate this and that’s exactly how I felt right after the tiniest spritz from this however, i like to understand things deeper, so i couldn’t let my first impression be the last verdict—like listening to newly released music, give it some time to marinate before saying it’s “boring”. I love how this scent started to grow on me, just after a minute of hating it lol, and indeed it’s an obsession, I repelled it at first and now I can’t stop sniffing it. This scent is like drinking a warm cola with whiskey in a mid-century modern living room, while reading an old history book—definitely an acquired taste and surely it’s not for you if you’re a fragrance snob and you limit your choices to cool or aquatic male fragrances. This is a fragrance that will surely set you apart from every “icy water” scent enjoyers, oh and they will totally hate that sillage of yours in an atmosphere of monotone cool blues. Spray this and be a martyr.

Obsession for Men is pure nostalgia for me. This was introduced to me by my uncle in the ’80s, and it became the first cologne I truly fell in love with and actually owned. It’s the scent that started everything. The opening is instantly recognizable: spiced citrus with mandarin and bergamot wrapped in cinnamon and coriander. It’s bold, warm, and unmistakably Obsession — a scent from a time when fragrances weren’t afraid to announce themselves. As it settles, the heart turns deep and resinous, with amber, clove, and patchouli creating that signature oriental warmth. There’s a slightly smoky, almost leathery feel here that makes it comforting yet seductive. The base of amber, vanilla, and musk lingers close to the skin, giving it a smooth, sensual finish. Yes, it’s old-school, but in the best way. Obsession has character, presence, and soul. It doesn’t chase trends — it stands on its own. Every wear takes me back, and that’s something no reformulation or modern release can replace. Final thoughts: Obsession isn’t just a classic — it’s a memory in a bottle, and my first true love in fragrance.

Mmm... smells like Christmas. The lavender and cinnamon mingle up top in a way that I really enjoy. The spice and woodsy notes give it a strong, warm base. An extremely relaxing and pleasant scent for the winter months. Just enough citrus to balance things out. Has that spice drawer feeling. Works for me in a way that similar winter frags don't, though that may in part be my love for lavender. Obsession has impact and weight, but not in a way that feels heavy or "cloying" to my nose. Good projection and lasts ages on the skin. Spritz just a little and keep it modest. (1-2 sprays is easily enough for me.) A bottle will last ages, and you'll always have the perfect amount of projection off your skin. Could easily be overwhelming if you overspray. Normally I don't like super warm frags. Especially when they can be described as powdery... but for wintertime, this is the perfect fragrance to wear in the frosty air. Near perfectly balanced. Plays well with my skin chemistry. Will likely always have a bottle of this around from now on. 9/10

We need to have a serious conversation about ageism in perfumery. I constantly hear people dismiss Calvin Klein’s Obsession as dated or say it smells like old people. It doesn't smell like an old person. It smells like 1995, and for those of us who were there, it smells like freedom. This was the first grown-up fragrance I ever bought with my own money. It was a rite of passage and the gateway drug that led me to the hard stuff (see: Halston and Passion). Because of that, this amber-colored stuff has a sentimental hold on my heart. It is incredibly relaxed and easy. It’s warm, spicy, and inviting. It hits you with a comfort blanket mix of cinnamon, amber, creamy vanilla, and sandalwood. It doesn’t scream for attention. However, we have a problem. The longevity is tragic. I am lucky if I get two hours out of this before it vanishes into the ether. To get it to stick, I basically have to flea dip myself in it. I am talking full-body submersion. I love it, but it fades far too quickly. Buy vintage, or don't bother with this one.

A little outdated, but this is warmth, comfort, and home to me. It brings me back to being tucked in, singing our goodnight song together. It’s been 11 years since my dad passed, and I can still smell it in my memory. This is vintage, but not the stinky, smack you in the head with a brick vintage. No blast you in the ass aldehydes. I remember a lot of the top notes-- the citrus, lavender, and cinnamon stand out, but everything is blended so smoothly. The cool bite of prickly pine needles, the delicate, aromatic, spicy petals of carnation. You can feel them. You don't need much. Just a few spritzes are enough for people to notice what you’re wearing. Leans very masculine but there's a tiny bit of a soft edge around the rough exterior. A younger person with confidence would smell incredibly polished in this. Shout out to @irlprincecharming for trying it out as a Gen Z and loving it! It’s sad how many of you younger folks make fun of a scent and call it “old” actually it’s not funny it’s ageist. Just because you may have plopped down $400 on some niche scent while I spent 80 to 125 for this and my other spicy fav, Poison, and I’m getting compliments left and right from my millennial hubby... Honestly? The two I mentioned are literally sex in a bottle and you “youngsters” are missing out! While my gen x butt is stil slaying and laying due to these classics...but seriously?? get off of my yard!!! Ha :) It’s cinnamon and creamy due to the woods with some citrus to lighten it up. Simple but complex and mmmm There is NO age on this. It’s a classic now and It smells of spicy man and sex....also this is soooo much sexier and softer than the one for women ( that one is insta sick ) it smells good on man or woman or a non binary unicorn 🦄! Very similar to halston Z 14....this generation is so sensitive about labels and gender etc...how about you also stop being ageist!? Hmm 🤔

THE classic. Lucky enough to own a vintage bottle with the gold stripe lid, this is such a beauty. The cinnamon, the mandarin... everything about this is sexy, and like I say with each older frag, no it is NOT an old man cologne, doesn't smell like grandpas. This opens immediately with cinnamon its the theme of this fragrance so expect that, your not gonna get sweet fruity vanilla like you do with newer stuff. You will get a (absolutely fantastic) in your face spicy cinnamon mandarin and amber. Of course the dry down is even better with that sensational vanilla, you do pick up the other notes like pine and sandalwood but ever so slightly, which is why this still holds up today. I do definitely pick up the age to it, not a modern scent profile but it doesn't sting my nose and reek like generic florals and pine like most older cologne. This was a genius scent for it's time and I believe that this can be worn by anyone today.

A sharp, watery aftershave, distinguished and rugged, this perfume reveals the reality of the 1980s for most; not an expensive luxury, but a well-known commodity your dad probably wore, without failing on execution. Despite its unbelievable price, it out-plays most of what we see on the market today. It’s centred around this theme of warm spices, namely cinnamon, trying ever so hard to claw its way through a pane of sheer, glassy soapiness. There’s comfort, but it’s held back by something cold, green and leafy awash with the bite of a post-shave freshness. Obsession for Men may get overlooked in the 2020s, if not for the suspiciously cheap price tag or unassuming bottle, but likely because people assume it smells outdated. When actually, what you’re smelling is the life and firm stature of the working man you once knew.

This masterpiece came out the year I was born and it was my father’s every day signature scent for the first decade or more of my life. All of my fondest memories I have growing up are tied in some way to this fragrance. This was the definition of beast mode back then, and for my money the greatest men’s cologne ever created. It was warm, comforting and sensual. Bold but never intrusive. I cannot express how much I love this stuff. Sadly it’s currently a shadow of its former self. And yet even in its severely weakened state, it’s still better than most of what passes for men’s fragrances today. Not that anyone should be looking for compliments, but not for nothing this one never fails to get loads of them. Buy vintage if you can, but current versions will suffice. This is still the best there is, was and ever will be.

Calvin Klein Obsession for Men eau de toilette for men is a fragrance that despite its almost 40 years still stands out for its refinement. And no surprise, as this woody, oriental fragrance enhances charisma and captures attention. Warm, passionate, brazenly fluid and unisex fragrance suitable for use in the evening and in the colder months given its enveloping warm spicy notes. The fragrance opens with strong fresh citrus notes, a fresh breath of bergamot, lime and elegant and refined lavender, the temporal olfactory evolution brings out the warm and reassuring notes: notes of aromatic nutmeg, myrrh and precious wood. The base of the fragrance is composed of inebriating patchouli, seductive vetiver, reassuring musk and sweet vanilla, which will resurface on the skin even many hours later, brightening up the day.

When I hear descriptions of the original formulation of Fahrenheit, this is what my brain essentially smells. Yes, there are listed notes that are detectable when you look for them, but it's more accords. Some that aren't even listed. Spicy-hot, aromatic, ozonic, and (to my nose) more leathery than woody. It's a cloak and dagger conspiracy league of ingredients using ninja magic to appear as things they aren't, making you see dragons in the smoke.This thrusts it so deeply into vibes territory that it's difficult to explain. It's incredibly eighties.its incredibly rapacious and dark triad, it's very wet-look hair, it's very great.

To the new fragrance aficionado who is keen to explore the titans of 80s mens colognes, Obsession, some near forty years on stands proud in its depth, in its continuing allure. It is a heady and powerful, yet graceful and smooth blend of the multitude of notes listed in the fragrance pyramid above. It is unmistakably manly and heavy, reminiscent of a Lamborghini Countach; powerful, yet attractive with fine lines. You will arguably find other examples out there of 80s powerhouse mens fragrances, yet with age, they are somewhat crude. Not so with Obsession, it has staying powerful both literally and in spirit-form. For anyone new to it, go out there and bag a bottle for what are very reasonable prices these days.

My most complimented mens fragrance. Starts extremely feminine to me, almost like I'd used one of the wife's Givenchy's. It then turns into a warmer unisex scent before drying down into a manly man's frag. Bloody lovely! A warm, masculine, well blended fragrance that keeps being worn as it's a classic. There's a reason why this is still for sale. If you don't have a bottle then you're missing out. Three to four sprays are all you need, even with the reformulated bottles. My work colleagues know that I sometimes wear expensive frags. Obsession often gets mistaken for an expensive one. This one shines on the colder spring and autumn days

Anyone here old enough to recall how luxurious, rich, nuanced and high quality Obsession for Men was say, 40 years ago? Obsession PH could have EASILY rivaled ANY Guerlain, Chanel, or Roja Dove as ot was just such an Iconic, GORGEOUS Masculine fragrance. One only needed 3 to 4 spritzes TOPS to fill a room and youd be golden for the entire day into the evening. This scent was Soapy, yet resinous, Clean yet Ambery. And I know, I know! Well never get another Obsession and if we did get something like it, we'd need to pay MULTIPLE HUNDREDS of dollars for it, yet it STILL wouldn't be able to campare to what we'd had back then. So.sad!

I was quite confused when i saw that obsession for men was voted as similar to musc ravageur bc they are nowhere nearrrrr similar when you smell it up close HOWEVVVERRRRR i’ve been wearing only ck obsession for men lately and whenever I catch whiffs of it in the air? WHAT THE ACTUAL F*CK !!??!!?! IT’S HELLA SIMILAR IN THE AIR BUT NEVER UP CLOSE?!!?! Whenever I catch it off-guard, I get that Musc Ravageur deja vu off of it 😭 I was kinda getting gaslighted by it like was i wearing obsession for men or was I wearing FM MR????? You can literally fool an untrained nose into thinking ur wearing a niche fragrance lmao.

My dad's signature cologne since I was a kid. First spray when I bought it made me tear up a second because of it's ability to transport me back to hugging my dad when he would leave for date nights with Mom or work and I could smell it on his neck and clothes. Bit of a nostalgic factor for my love of the scent. Wish it had more longevity and projection, feels very weak and I feel the need to reapply after only an hour. Multiple sprays necessary. Immediately super spicy and cinnamon-y, then fades to something sweeter. Burns my nose a bit sometimes at the start.

My old friend Obsession, when I look back at my changing tastes in fragrances over the past 20+ years, I see that despite my aversion to any fragrances by CK (I've tried many, and bought quite a few) and my increasing enthusiasm for niche fragrances, Obsession always remains. I revere this fragrance. It is truly something of great beauty, comfort and excellence from that wonderful decade; the 1980s. Beware of falling into the contemporary/dated binary trap, some things just remain classics; something of enduring value. CK Obsession for men is one such thing...

The benchmark for spicy fragrances, enough said. Needless to say but stay clear if you don't like cinnamon+vanilla+amber scents. People will look at you weird if you use this in summer and have just sprayed it on. The drydown is too good to pass though. Do not test on paper, the 'soap' note comes off too scratchy. Apply on skin and let it dry down a bit, will give off a much much better scent profile. Easily niche and unisex by today's standards. Not quite sure what this one has, but it makes my mouth water on the far drydown.

I am 15 years old and just bought this fragrance, let me tell you, it smells so cozy and warm and brings back a feeling of nostalgia for me, i picked it up for 20 dollars and i am wearing it currently, i have gotten 3 compliments so far and i’ve had this fragrance for about 4 hours. Everyone saying this fragrance is bad gets their knowledge from tiktok, (It’s the same case with joop homme). 9/10 great fragrance. Top note is a little weird at first but once it dries down it’s so good

Love love LOVE this fragrance! This is my boyfriend’s usual scent and it’s so lovely. Very heady, masculine, warm. Perhaps a bit “mature”for some tastes, the powdery notes can read as “old lady scent” to some but personally I adore the powdery quality. Definitely a more vintage vibe, it screams 80s to me which makes sense based on the year it was released. Overall a very dominant scent- it demands attention and in my experience people either love or absolutely hate it.

This is a fragrance for a discerning, well-groomed, and well-dressed man in the autumn, winter, and early spring seasons. It is ambery, spicy (cinnamon, mostly), and woody with a very well-placed sweet/vanilla touch without any excess. I love the balance and complexity of the composition: nothing is over the top. It smells manly and recalls good times. It has very good longevity and projection. It is inexpensive greatness. I love it and it is a must-have in my book.

Truthfully, for the tasteful man, a really nice cool weather and even date night fragrance. For the tasteful man, I say, because i can’t imagine this applied heavily to the skin or clothing. Beyond 2 full sprays, I get a cinnamon potpourri that I don’t particularly like the smell of, nor could I imagine it being attractive. Everything is subjective. Worn lightly, this plays in the territory of Égoïste (albeit, of a lesser quality).

It was the early 90’s and I was in my early 20’s. This was the first mature, complex fragrance I owned. Before this it was typical fougeres like Drakkar Noir. Man, I thought I was the picture of sophistication with my Obsession! It’s still a great fragrance with great performance all round. I’ve heard people call it “dated” but there isn’t a single note in it that isn’t used today. It’s just a heavy, spicy, musky fragrance.

Smells like all your bills are paid and you just got multiple job offers.

After wearing this for a full day, I can confidently say that this is the best $23 I've ever spent on a fragrance. This makes me nostalgic for a time period that I didn't exist in. Other than the vibe, this is an incredible sweet, ambery, spicy fragrance and it's blended spectacularly. [Mental Imagery]: Going to the Malibu Club in Vice City after slamming an ambulance into a brick wall.

Had my first bottle of this in 1989. Absolutely loved it back then. Had not worn it for many, many years and decided to pick up a bottle because it's so cheap and to be nostalgic. Almost exactly as I remember it. Brings back those memories from ages ago. My youngest daughter who is also into fragrance did tell me it smells old. Had to remind her that her Dad is in fact....old.

So much a classic, a must-have, in my opinion. I'm recently exploring new fragrances, and, decided to pass my Obsession for men & Obsession Night for me along to my cousin, who's just beginning to enjoy the world of scents, too. But, you can be certain that sooner rather than later, I'll be buying this one again. Been loving it for decades, been the source of many compliments.

I wear this all the time in cold months. On my skin it seemingly lasts forever, and it smells warm and spicy. Just don't wear it in the summer or when you're sick because it will make you wish you were dead Honestly I thought this would be fine as a unisex fragrance but looking at other reviews I guess not. This perfumes name really is on point... its amazing. It's timeless. My husband bought it when we where travelling and he really did a great purchase. It's rich, spicy, soft, ambery it's amazing. I love looove when my husband wears it. I would say it's more a fall and winter perfume. Just feel like cozing up in front of a fire with a nice glass of wine.

Very very nice and classic masterpiece from CK...surprisingly very strong, powerful and lasting. I have 4 years old bottle and its very good. Warm spicy winter scent,masculine fugere. For this money better is hard to find in terms of performance, longevity and quality. Easy blind buy for all old school/barbers/fugere lovers...believe or not from CK 🤣🤣🤣

These newer batches from last year are amazing, they are slowly getting rid of that dated “old man” smell and have rounded it out with more cinnamon, vanilla and musk. Just buy it from the ck website so you’re getting the most recent batch possible, I’ve also received a fake bottle from discounters don’t waste your money looking for a deal. 10/10 👍

Ive came back after long pause to this frag this winter after using it about 10 years (mainly in autumn and winter). Its still great. Warm, powdery, spicy. A true classic. For me its a pure winter scent (snow and christmass) but Ive tried it in summer too. Its different when its warm. Still, one of my signature scents.

I remember hearing fragrance influencers bashing this, little did know this turned out to be a masterpiece. If you try this fragrance go and give it a try. This blew me off my feet on first sniff as it was amber, cinnamon, vanillic and elegant. If you were to meet a queen she’ll smell like this classic masterpiece.

Amazing perfume! It's dark, sensual, masculine, and warm. It totally recommend it if you're a fan of the night life, pubs, socialising etc. since it WILL make people approach you. It is my ex's signature perfume and, in retrospect, that was probably the only good thing about him. Obsession? Yeah. Obsessed.

Incredible in every department and probably the top 3 in it’s price range(besides dupes) and stays that way even after a reformulation. Wearing this shows everyone that you’re a gentleman, especially a classy one. Wear with anything and you’ll get compliments. It’s versatile in some amazing way.

this used to be one of my signature scents back in the day loved it it will always be in my collection i hear the newer versions are reformulated im still using a big old bottle i have from yrs ago so im not sure i just know this was a great scent back in the day i highly recommend trying

I actually really love this, F and I've never smelled this before. it's a very high up in the nose spice rather than a warm throaty spice I don't get much cinnamon but do get a lot of lavender, woods, pine and balsam the base vanilla really rounds it out into a delicious scent

This is a rich and sumptuous spicy amber and vanilla. It is warm and intoxicating. The spices, florals, and citrus blend wonderfully providing significant depth from first spray to hours after the dry down without being cloying. The performance is excellent. its a 10 outta 10

I’m in love with this! Certainly a favorite for the fall and winter seasons. I gueeessss I can see it as an old guy fragrance but I think this suits me perfectly at 24! I love the cinnamon spice powderyness that lasts all day. Love smelling my wrists on it throughout the day.
