Obsession Night for Men

Of course it is not Obsession, it's Obsession NIGHT! What shines in the day and is warm gets smoother, cooler and laid-back at night...makes sense to me. Obsession came out in the 1986, and this came out 2 decades later; so of course it is more modern and lighter. ONM is spicy, cool and smooth-I find it very intruiging... This scent starts with pears glazed in citrus with some spicy cardamom and a cool and bitter silvery artemisia. The fruitiness is juicy and not too sweet, and the herbs & spice add subtle hints of the original. The heart is a musky smooth, warmed suede that works well in cooler night air and crisp fall days. At very first sniff, I got the oriental feel; but thought maybe it should have been a 'spicy' as opposed to a 'woody'. The vetiver gives it some woodiness in the drydown and the patchouli makes it earthy and rich, while vanilla adds a dark sweetness that rounds it out well. This is a darker, softer interpretation of Obsession and when you want something more subtle and sweet with hints of spices and a sexy creaminess, reach for this one... Sillage: pretty good Longevity: good (on me) Overall: 4/5 I own both the mens and the womens versions and find they both work well on my skin. I can't believe people are saying this does not last; because I can smell it on clothing (after applying to skin) the next day, and more than a hint lingering on my skin. I am glad I got an extra bottle of this since it has been discontinued! Very luxurious, modern and sexy...

Easily my all time favorite patchouli fragrance. Recently bought Boss bottled absolu due to its hype and I can safely say I wish I had bought 6 bottles of Calvin Klein Obsession Night instead for the same price. Kinda also like Gisada Ambassador Intense, but Obsession Night just gives me that incredible soothing feel without the overpowered sweetness of BBA and GAI. I gotta say, that if you love Patchouli as much as I do, you definitely need to stock on a couple of these bottles. I have bought 4 bottles along the past decades and I recently got me a 125ml from Zivada and I cannot notice any significant reformulation as what happened to Obsession, but this doesn't mean it won't happen in the foreseeable future. Hate me if you want, but this is a handsome masculine night fragrance. Not juvenile, but perfect for men older than 30. I liked it when i was in college, but I just love it now. In the region where I am at, I go complimented so many times wearing CKON and I got three bad remarks in the same exact night, while wearing Boss bottled absolu. I thought it was my skin initially, but when I gave them the bottle to spray on their wrists, they got as repulsed as before. Every single time we go to a restaurant or a pub with my wife, she asks me to wear Obsession Night and not to experiment with "random sh1t".

Within the last year or so I've began to lose interest in new fragrance releases, mainly because everything being put out is just too sweet for my tastes, but also because I've developed a strong desire to re experience old school fragrances from my childhood. I'm 39 so basically the 80s, 90s, and early 2000s. But anyway on to the fragrance. I honestly purchased this one because I loved the look of the bottle and for the fact it was dirt cheap. I wasn't expecting to like the fragrance because It was a flanker and a very unknown one at that, so I figured it must've been a flop. Well I was wrong.... This one does not get the accolades that it deserves. Opens with a fresh pear accord layered with soft warm leather notes. Very easy to wear and smells expensive. Performance is strong. Nearly as strong as the original Obsession which if you go even one spray over it's going to get cloying. Never had a complaint yet and I have had a good amount of compliments. Therefore I can definitely say I recommend this one for sure. It's even a completely safe blind buy because it's very low priced and pretty much universally liked. Also no one even has this one these days so it's unique. Unfortunately, it has been discontinued. But you can get a bottle dirt cheap on any fragrance discount website. Paid $25 for mine.

First impressions on this discontinued scent from CK; I really wasn't sure what to expect with this so wasn't expecting too much and to my surprise I found this to be a really nice, elegant yet modern fragrance. It is subtle for sure yet it's somehow rather seductive. I believe it suits perfectly for what this fragrance was intended ie to be a night/evening wear, for a date or rather close encounter with a special lady. I definitely pick up on the cardamom, nutmeg and vanilla. So after just a quick test I'm glad I picked this up for a relatively low price online as I didn't really have anything quite like it in my collection. Yet another underrated/overlooked (and discontinued!) scent from the house of CK. Just to add: the beautiful deep blue semi-mirrored bottle is superb, pics don't do it justice. UPDATE: 16 March 2019. This does sit very close to the skin for me but longevity is surprisingly good, especially on clothing, where it smells almost the same for me. The softness suits this as it is a great date/close encounter fragrance and can be worn formally day or night. I also wear it for myself at night as it's so comforting.

I've had this for a year, so is it still worth keeping? Yep, still a nice one, OK it's not going to change most people's lives but it's pleasant and comforting. O.N. is rather soft but then some scents are better that way, if it was strong it would change the calm mood of the fragrance. A subtle, pleasing and well balanced scent, it's not your raunchy or wild 'night' fragrance but a cosy night in scent with a small hint of mystery. Could work as an early spring daytime scent too. Far better than many more expensive (and/or hyped) scents, this is a goodie, worth it even just for the lovely bottle alone imo. Inoffensive - there's really not much to hate here but likely not much to love for most people, especially if they judge on a quick test alone. Perhaps not the outright gem I first claimed but I do really like this one still and so glad to own a bottle: overall: 7.5/10

I got this fragrance years ago as a Xmas present from my Mom and as a fan of Obsession (both male and female - I still wear them) I was pleasantly surprised with this edition. I bought another bottle today for 25 quid (100ml) and it's gonna be my every day fragrance this summer. It's a bit sweet and spicy but not too overpowering. It's more "come closer to me to smell it" which I absolutely love. The pear is a bit musky and mysterious and that's what I am expecting from my summer fragrance. Perfect to wear 24/7. It does remind me of Black Orchid but it's not as in your face as Ford's creation. Perfect blend for people who don't like "sporty" or "fresh" fragrances that smell like Fairy Platinum :D

Melancholy pears and spiced vanilla, like a really nice perry but without the undertone of alcohol. I wish this were stronger, it's beautiful but just so ephemeral. Even when over spraying over heavy moisturiser, it vanishes from my skin in a like an hour. I've found that spraying this insides the sleeves, and on the upper back and front lining of a jacket I'm wearing, does really improve the longevity (10h+ very intimate sillage) but it's only really noticable if the fabric is warm from wear, and even still the scent bubble is hella subtle. Edit: 2 months after posting this review and longevity is now up to three hours on skin. Still very intimate sillage though.

This scent is amazing in my opinion. I love how the Pear and Vanilla come together and make a kind of coconut scent as stated by 'benpaul12'. But I think wat is very distinct to me is how the grapefruit and patchouli become more apparent over the course of the drydown and THOSE are the scents that occupy the sillage of the fragrance. So up close you got Pear/Vanilla "coconut" flavor which is sexy and close. Butthe further out you go have Grapefruit/Patchouli which is exciting and playful. It is basically a scent-trap for chicks. It is pretty genius.

I wore this yesterday and was reminded of just how good it is. I feel it's perfect for a gloomy day, very cosy to me (without being too spicy or sweet), like being snuggled up under a warm quilt with the cold rain outside and the grey blue light spilling into the room. This to me has a superbly mysterious vibe which almost seems a paradox given it's comforting nature. Obsession Night is a smooth and sensual delight, definitely a 'hidden' or overlooked gem which I highly recommend trying before it disappears into the night forever...

When I first tried this I thought it was a good fragrance but didn't put to much thought into it. When I gave it a second wearing a time later I become hooked! I wore this for about 3 days straight and couldn't put it down! This is a balanced and very versatile fragrance. It is a night fragrance but you can wear this for day time purposes as well. For me this is one I want people to notice when I wear it. You can wear this to the gym or around women with excitement! This grew on me and now it's one of my favorites!

I liked it. I just bought this one and the regular one (Obsession). The two are kinda similar. I smell the spicy-incense thing of the Obsession in this one too, but softer. On top there's vanilla and pear (the pear on this one is like Pear Glace, from Victoria's Secret). It's better blended, less invasive, more intimate then the regular Obsession. Update: i get kind of a coconut smell. It reminds me a little bit of Deseo, by J.Lo (The first one), except that this one is more masculine and 'darker'

I have a bottle of this from when Calvin Klein was distributed by Unilever. This is a really nice scent, and quite strong. I'm surprised, because I usually find that Calvin Klein scents seem watered down. I'm not sure how the Coty version smells, or if there's any difference at all, but this is a really nice musky night time scent. I really enjoy it. I love the cardamon in it, as well as the vanilla, patchouli, and vetiver. Classy scent!

It's all about the dry down with this fragrance! In the first 3 hours is just some pastry smell But then comes the magic - must be the patchouli - vetiver and a bit of musk in the base. They last for a very long time on my skin, even on the next morning I can feel their strong and divine presence... Tranquil Mystery . All in all is very charming and sensual fragrance. Like an invisible smile in the night.

I hated this stuff the first time I sprayed it. But it seriously grew on me after awhile. At first it smelled like vanilla coated pears with dill sprinkled over the top. Kind of made me nauseous but now i like it. Took a lot of warming up to. The longevity and silliage is not that great. Most Calvin Klein fragrances are bad in the longevity and silliage department. Dark Obsession is a lot better.

Yes, it does have something that reminds me of Black Orchid. But just “reminds” me. I didn’t buy it because of that (I collect and was interested in the notes) so it was funny when I was like “it reminds me of BO” because I forgot that it was mentioned here. It’s nice, kinda fresh in the beginning and then creamy patchouli (what I love) and a bit earthy. If you like this DNA it’s a good buy.

This fragrance is amazing. In my opinion it’s one of the best pear noted fragrance of all time. It’s really good and it’s a very masculine fragrance. This is definitely a compliment getter and a mass appealing scent. It’s great value for money and smells great. Has decent projection and longevity too. Hands down my favourite Calvin klein fragrance.

A nice vanilla/fruity scent. Starts with pear and vanilla. The drydown is floral , fruity and white musk which is pretty close to the skin - a bit like Rive gauche Light for men. It does have it's own character however. Not bad, but I will only buy it in future if I see it cheap.

Obsession Night is a somewhat forgotten masterpiece. It’s not an everyday fragrance, but a typical date perfume. A little dark, masculine, sexy, with a satin-like scent. Powerful, yet not overwhelming. With this fragrance, you won’t be going home after the dinner date.🫠

Been wearing this on and off for a while now. It's gorgeous but could do with more potency. However, it's a fruity/vanilla characterful scent. I would buy this again definitely - but only in a bargain bin because it's just not an EDT strength in my opinion.

This stuff is my absolute favorite it's honestly so versatile you can ware it anyday any time any occasion and smell super fresh a clean i heard it was now discontinued wich makes me sad cuz my bottle is almost empty

This is delicious, different to the original, warmer, more woody and less sharp, considering it's Calvin Klein the longevity is fantastic, it projects well, I love this fragrance. Will get for the Winter I think.

This is definitely a frag that you like more and more...the more you use it. It really has quite a lot of character. if you get it...stick with it, it's really very nice indeed.

I absolutely LOVE this fragrance. It is so unique and totally stands apart from the crowd. Smells awesome after a couple of hours. I can easily see myself buying this again.

I really love this perfume, it is very sexy but only the old batches... I recently smelled a newer one at an airport - it has nothing to do with the original.

It kinda smells like Pencil Shavings idk Y but its ok. I just got it today so It will grow on me. I'm not saying its bad either.

After the immense success obtained with the iconic fragrances of the duo Obsession, in the 80s, the Calvin Klein brand decided to launch the first variations, already following the flankers' movement. Then, in 2005, the new fragrances from Obsession Night (For Women and For Men) hit the market. Obsession Night for Men has notes of pear, Artemisia and cardamom, in the output. This combo brings a vegetable pear smell, I would even say herbal, as if it were a green pear. In the heart of the fragrance, notes of nutmeg, musk, black suede, and Georgian wood were combined. This mix is responsible for the way the fragrance behaves from beginning to end. The suede smell is very peculiar in this scent and the nutmeg still brought its slightly citrus-spicy content to the evolution. In the bottom, notes of vetiver, patchouli, benzoin, and vanilla add creaminess and sweeten the fragrance’s drying. Obsession Night for Men has low projection but is not necessarily close to the skin. Its durability is great, although the fragrances of the brand have been labeled as weak since the early 2000s, a characteristic that was not a major problem in the 80s or 90s. On my skin, it smells practically like pear, suede, and patchouli, with an earthy vetiver cover and a touch of coconut milk. Obsession Night for Men was launched to compete for space with Marc Jacobs For Men, from 2002. And both took a ride on the success that came from an Italian brand and that was beginning to gain more world territory: Ferragamo Pour Homme, from 1999. Although it maintained the same visual identity as the original version, with the bottle designed by Pierre Dinand (responsible for the design of Calandre, by Paco Rabanne) and beautiful painting in midnight blue, Obsession Night for Men was not a good flanker since the olfactory reference was not kept. Even so, it was successful and left orphans scattered around the world. Obsession Night for Men is comfortable, differentiated (in a way) and smooth. The image of the man in this fragrance is far from that of the advertisement. For me, it looks like a rainy day, wearing jeans and a thin pullover. It is my safe choice when I want to do a romantic program for two and I don't feel like thinking too much about the fragrance I should wear.

Obsession Night... Hm. Y'know, the very first thing about this - and, thinking about it, any of the Obsessions I have - is that YOU don't wear IT; IT wears YOU. The opening almost has a physical presence. It hops on your back like Yoda, and tells you to giddyup. So go light on the trigger, kids. Its opening oppression is, to me, bothersome. I feel like I have to hide myself away for about 15 minutes before facing the public, so I don't assault their olifactory senses. I wouldn't wear it at all, except... well, I do like the way it smells. Sometimes. I suppose this is where I should go into the whole "The cardamom and grapefruit combine for a intriguing blah-de-blah," except it doesn't. This sucker is a horn session - specifically, it is the Korg keyboard horn section of an eighties band - and is about as Un-subtle as a freight train. Nothing wrong with that, as long as you know that is what you're committing yourself to; words like "seductive," "sensual" or "subtle" live on an entirely different coast from this one. You're at the circus, blowing an air horn. I was an eighties kid, and at that time Obsession was the AXE spray of the New Wave. At the time, we were dumb enough to think we were wearing it to be Seck-see and Cool. (And who wouldn't think we were? We were SHOUTING it loud enough by wearing it.) But that was Long ago. Now, frankly, I'm just not that exciteable, and I can't really think of when and where this stuff would seem appropriate.

It's got appeal for users who like blue "freshie," aromatic fougere and spicy gourmand fragrances but can't really be truly classified as any of these. It's certainly not a gourmand like the original and lacks its cinnamon note. It's a fresh and warm blend of fruit, spice, herbal, vanilla, lavender, musk and powder aromas that is very attractive. This just screams date night but would also be good for formal social occasions as well. This is a very masculine scent and is not unisex. It is unlikely to appeal to younger users, especially ones who enjoy modern sweet and fresh fragrances. It's great for older users, but there is tough competition in today's market for fragrances that make a great date night impression. Still, it does hold its own despite coming from a previous generation. It's got good performance and comes at a great discount price nowadays. Recommended.

Imagine you are at a large boring formal party when suddenly in bounds a noisy flamboyant guest. All heads turn and for a moment the conversation stops to acknowledge this noisy gate-crasher. Some people will continue to look because this inappropriately dressed stranger is somewhat intriguing but most people return to their business (this is a civilised part after all). You look longer than you would like to, caught off-guard by qualities you have not seen before but you quickly turn away because you dislike the type of person that upsets the status-quo for reasons of their own apparent vanity. As the evening progresses, you find yourself stealing glances at the uninvited guest. They have settled down and have become the charmer of the party, smiling, flirting, laughing and yet remaining detached and elusive all at the same time. Some hours later you step out onto the balcony to study the night. You look up and curse the night-glow of artificial lighting for preventing the beauty of the stars from being truly appreciated. It is at this moment that you realise someone is standing close behind you. You turn to face the intriguing stranger. They stand before you silent, demure, and with the air of someone who knows a valuable secret. How can this be the same 'brash' person from earlier? And then, as if sensing what you are thinking, the guest answers with a seductive smile, "I had to get your attention somehow".

Ahh wel it was sold today for 15 euro! and its a big 4.2 bottle and well uhmmm i was like...can't let this one go..you can come into my fragrance cabinet as well buddy! :-) I did always hesitated this one as i tested this sniffing it from the cap. To my nose it was a very synthetic and cloying sweet combo (from the spraycap) but on skin this one enters in 10 minutes a smooth warm combo of pear and vanilla indeed almost smellig COCO-JAMBO-COCONUTTS. Its not projecting hard? as i suspected and guessed this would be a sillage monster but i was wrong? this one enters the close to skin range very quick But hey it smells so familiar? You know what i smell? Marc Jacobs men! Its the toned down version!! i smell fig leaves. If you like this you will def. appreciate Marc Jacobs Men! I need both on my wrists to compare but im sure it has much in common! Im happy i did buy it and i will dress up soon wearing this (20plus sprays to get my own sillage throughout the day/night)

Certainly not what I was expecting based on the reviews I read. I like it, it’s surprisingly very sweet when you first spray it, not a sickly sweet though, a rather refined and classy sweetness, subtle and not loud. I find the scent stays pretty much the same the whole way through, a few times whilst wearing it I picked up a tiny little note that wowed me but it’s very quiet and I can’t pinpoint what it was exactly. I’ve seen a few people call this a kind of sad fragrance, I think that works well, there’s a little sadness and mystery to it, it is bright and sweet but has an underlying feature that stops it from going overboard. I think over time I’m only going to love this more and more, I’m glad I bought a large bottle that will last me for a while. I’m a fan of Calvin Klein scents overall and this, for me, is a winner. If you’re going to be at the beach at night, enjoying the waves and the moonlight, this would be the perfect scent to wear. 8/10

Many of these fragrances in the extensive CK back catalogue are worth revisiting. I wore this yesterday for the first time in ages and with only a few sprays it actually performed decently, maybe it's become stronger with age but in any case I've never found CK frags to be as weak as the general consensus would have me believe. Unlike a large majority of recent (OTT sweet tonka bomb) releases this one has some elegance and something alluring about it despite it's apparent simplicity. Cardamom, nutmeg, vetiver, musk and a touch of vanilla. The bottle is surely one of the better designs in my collection, the mirrored finish of the deep blue glass which still allows you to see through seems to reflect the paradox of this fairly light yet somehow evening suited, subtly sweet scent, which is also easy to wear yet far from ordinary. A sense of unassuming mystery.

Obsession Night is one of my winter fragrances. Like many in the CK line it is very fresh, natural, and pleasing. The cardamon is very strong on the opening and lasts into the drydown where the nutmeg takes over, delivering a very warm, spicy aroma with a vanilla base. Smells like my grandmother's kitchen. People will find it very comforting. Great scent to wear to holiday parties where you aren't trying to steal the room but want to make good impressions on people. Not something very good for work or day time, as I find the spicyness to be out of place, like if you had a jar of your great-grandmother's old-world potpourri sitting on your desk next to your laptop. Overall: I enjoy this for winter nights out and at Christmas parties, fresh and spicy, it gets noticed without stealing the show.

Another nice under the radar fragrance from CK. This isn't a heavy or thick 'night' scent but somehow the name suits it, especially with the sleek and really rather beautiful bottle with it's semi-mirrored aspect. The deep 'night-sky' or midnight blue is a good reflection of the mood of the fragrance, despite it being fairly sweet and fruity with the prominent pear and vanilla notes, the cardamom & musk lend it a seductive and even slightly mysterious touch. Perhaps a good close encounters scent, especially on a dark rainy evening. It's not an absolute fave of mine but I do like it, glad to own a bottle! Worth checking out if found for a good price, apparently discontinued and stock seems to have dried up since I bought mine ;)

Obsession Night starts out with the scent of Pears stewing in a lightly sweet Cardamom-Vanilla broth. Along with the opening is a soft leathery note accented by a very light Patchouli note and some woody Vetiver. The Patchouli is not strong, it contributes to the woodiness of the fragrance. Very well mixed, sweet but not too sweet. When I spray this on my wrist, I don't want to stop sniffing it. Very addictive. It has some sillage for the first hour, then it becomes a soft, warm and woody skin-scent, perfect for close encounters. It lasts about 4 hours on me. It's a nice Fall/Winter night-time fragrance, it doesn't stand up to the heat of Summer nights very well.

Its a heavy, dark, quite fruity scent of sophistication, intrigue and calmness. I love the pear and artemisia. It's an easily favourited sccent.I remembered it, from 2006, as an orange flavored chocolate smell, but my nose was too amatuer at the time to think of anything else or pick the fragrance apart. But I know that in my amatuer experience, I've found some favourable gems (Black XS, A*Men, 273 Indigo) all because, at the time, they smelt like everyday things like chocolate or soap. Obsessision Night is one of those favourable gems that you dont forget. Those who love it, love it mainly at night and save it for social times = favouritism.

This one reminds me alot of Hugo Boss dark blue. I can see the resemblance with black orhid too. The fragrance is very elegant and sophisticated, best suited maybe for spring and summer nights. Most of the votes are for winter and autumn, but I don't think this fragrance has the punch to cut through the cooler weather. It's too soft, floral and delicate for it. The sillage and longevity are very weak,but if you overspray on your clothes, the longevity becomes moderate ,and you have a nice elegant fragrance that invites people closer to you. Luckily, it comes in a big 125ml bottle, so you don't have to be afraid to overspray.

It is a Nice Scent, Woody, Spicy and Unique. It is 70% similar to Tom Ford Black Orchid in dry down but Tom Ford has High Quality Composition If I compare it with Black Orchid, I must tell that Obsession Night launched in 2005 one year before Tom Ford Black Orchid. I bought it blind-buy after reading positive comments with reasonable price. It opens up with fresh spicy , fruity , herbal and spices notes in the background then dry down is powdery vanilla, Patchouli and Woody. Longevity is Average. I really enjoy it when the weather is cold. Thumbs Up. Rating : 7.5 / 10

Quite good, actually, but definitely for the colder season. Too sweet and balmy for a summer night (but for a summer night in a club - maybe OK). The lady I met with didn't comment on this one, and she does sometimes notice how I smell. I don't know if it's a good or a bad sign. :) But I like it, will use more when it gets colder. The longevity is good - after 14+ hours I can still smell the base (mostly vanilla). Edit: I forgot to mention the well defined pear note in the opening, which is worth mentioning, as not only is it very pleasant, but also quite uncommon.

Pear. If you like a mix of pear top note with a light calming fragrance that borders the blue category then I would suggest this at $20 to $25. It's unique and daring. Honestly it is relaxing to wear to bed to sleep. It's not my favorite CK fragrance but I am a collector of the Obsession line as they are always daring and step out of the norm. Do I wear it everyday? No. Is it enjoyable and refreshing to me, yes! If you want a more blue scent try eternity aqua or the new eternity cologne from CK. This is good tho and I guarantee it's unique and it is love or hate.

I received the Obsession Night aftershave as a gift so I went ahead and bought the Eau de Toilette since I found it for a bargain! Upon first application I knew I was going to enjoy this one! The pear, vanilla, cardamon, nutmeg combination is lovely! This fragrance smells fruity & tropical but it has a nice spice to it.. This flanker is somewhat soft & definitely quite different from the original powerhouse.. Obsession Night is not strong at all but it does the job.. It is a perfect casual fragrance for fall and winter, give it a try!

This one is a very unique scent. It’s a sweet musky fragrance which smells very unisex. I have smelt black orchid before and they do smell similar. Not sure if they smell the same , I feel although it is sweet it’s less sweeter than black orchid. It has some other notes in it which gives a very unique boozy vibe. It’s nice . My only problem is longevity unfortunately only last about 3 hours max after that it’s a skin scent. Overall an ok scent for winter/autumn. Scent : 8/10 Uniqueness: 7/10 Longevity: 4/10 Overall: 6/10
