Camp Beverly Hills

Oh my word, I’m so glad I found this on here, I was thinking about that pink box and trying to remember what perfume it was that I had and by chance I came across it on here. I remember going on a wonderful holiday to Anna Maria Island (my, what a beautiful place), Florida when I was 13 and me and my family visiting a mall in Sarasota where they had a perfume store. It must have been a weekday as the place was deserted and so the charming and exuberant sales lady leapt on us as soon as we walked in and picked out a scent for my mum and dad and then pointed this out to my parents as “something for the lil’ lady”. Bless them, they bought it for me, I don’t think it was very expensive. I remember the box with the palm trees and the little bottle with the lid and chain and thinking it was just truly the epitome of American-ness. Sunshine, palm trees, malls and all things fabulous. I’m British and have lived in the U.K. all my life, not much sunshine or many palm trees here sadly 😂 That holiday, with the wonder that is shopping in America, blew my teenage perfume and make-up obsessed mind. We’d drop into the Walgreens up the street from our holiday apartment most days after the beach and I would just browse the makeup aisles in complete wonderment, I’d never seen anything like it, we had no stores like this in the U.K. at that time (90s). To be honest it was a perfect teen fragrance, that I’d douse myself in every day on that holiday and long since after. If it was available today I’d buy it in a heartbeat. To that lovely sales lady and American-retail, this fraghead thanks you, it was the start of a beautiful friendship with fragrance and shopping! Apologies, I cannot remember for the life of me what this smelt like, but perfume really is so attached to one’s memories isn’t it, thank you for listening to my ramblings (I feel like the Grandpa in The Simpsons 😂).

Tovah, thank you so much for the laugh! I never crossed paths with you, but it would have been interesting. I was given this when I was a young-ish adult and I really, really liked it. I always have a hard time remembering the name and when I do, it sounds so bubble gum! I was afraid that I would be disgusted by the description, but no. It sounds like something that I would still like. My scent tastes have broadened, but I seem to have the same favorite notes. I don't remember much about it other than using the bottle up quicker than I usually do.

I remember loving this one and wearing it as a teenager with very fond memories connected to it. I'm now 51 and feeling all nostalgic, so I bought an original bottle from Etsy (great seller in USA but I'm in Canada so $$$ sheesh lol) and it should be here this week! I am sooo excited and interested to see if it smells as i remember! Will add my actual review after it arrives.

I remember wearing this during the summer, listening to 'Cruel Summer'right before heading to the mall to buy another pair of neon socks. And I had the cutest purple Jordache cross body purse that I kept my perfume in. I love when these "vintage" perfumes pop up in my feed because it triggers the fondest memories of my childhood. It was a great time to be a kid back then.

CBH is very strong, but bright and cheerful. It is feminine, but with a clean, men's cologne sort of vibe. I loved this perfume and actually went through the entire bottle. That is pretty rare for me. Unfortunately, I've become sensitive to scents in the last few years, and more and more of them are bothering me. CBH is one that I can no longer wear without getting a wicked headache.
