Testing Carine from a 1.5 ml official sample Carine Roitfeld. For a celebrity type of scent, it’s really strong, different and smells addictive. It’s a very high end smelling celebrity scent if that makes sense...Reminds me of Tom Ford’s White Patchouli, which I already have. Carine is the spicier and more expensive version of White Patchouli. Opening it’s very beautiful, sweet pink pepper and soft spices. Smooth and warm spicy opening. Later on, after about 10 minutes transforms into a beautiful floral bouquet of gardenia, jasmine and rose. It’s a sweet, spicy floral at middle stage. Then, in about half an hour, patchouli takes centre stage and completes with the spices and the flowers. It’s a glorious scent in the dry down, I am not going to lie. Would it be cheaper, I would get it instantly because I love a good patchouli perfume! And Carine is really a great one, with intense presence and moderate sillage. The other base notes, vetiver and cashmeran, kind of neutralise each other. Vetiver is usually a very earthy, woody, harsher note but the softness of cashmeran smooth everything perfectly. Nothing sticks out to much or feels out of place or artificial in Carine. Should I find Carine on some sort of deal for next fall, I wouldn’t think twice before purchasing. It’s a deeper, richer, woodier white floral scent, with prominent patchouli throughout its development stages that’s more appropriate for spring and fall wear than summer! Either way, it’s a good one!! More celebrity should follow Carine Roitfeld’s take if they decide to venture into perfumery.

Incredible, hyper sexual, nonchalant elegance. Tom Ford 07 Private Blend ala Carine Roitfeld by Dominique Ropion. Few and very far between is a perfume that sets out blatantly being overtly sexual can it remain elegant and chic. Hyped but well deserved maybe even underrated to be honest. If Carine was a huge brand this would have been a blockbuster. White florals mainly I detect jasmine on patchouli and musks. A simple idea but deftly executed I can’t imagine this being anything but irresistible. If Carnal Flower had sexuality dialed up to a 10 this is a 9 only because it can be worn by anyone so because it’s not very specifically within a gender profile the sexual fluidness if you will causes to be a little less extreme. For me as a man, that means I can actually wear this myself. I love this so much right now if I had to compile a shortlist of one fragrance for life options this would be on it. Thanks to Steven from Luckyscent for raving about this repeatedly. Good guidance right there. The only reason I could this rating at fragrantica being below a four is everybody secretly wants to gate-keep this. Love this... If perfumes got standing ovations this deserves one.

Reminiscent of the early 2000s and late 90s perfumes where there was tenacity in scent, and not for the sake of amplifying concentration, sweetness or fixatives to launch into beast mode, Carine has some classic integrity with nods to Alien, Prada Intense (rectangle with dark purple atomizer bulb), and Coco Mademoiselle. She's not a scent sister to Samsara but could easily be circling the same crowds wearing a minimalist heavy-satin chemise instead of velvet and jewels. This eponymous fragrance starts with a textured, tousled-hewn, green patchouli – almost mossy with pixels of pyrite. Velvet white petals emerge and are singed by my skin's warmth. It's a cabaret lounge that snakes with the harmony of a wooded liqueur finishing in a dark, luminous French polish with a sheen of aged floral wax. The bottle – elegant, minimal, a comforting heavy smoothed stone with a satisfying magnetic cap. She's easy in the way she enters the room and turns heads, yet unassailable in her presence. Timeless yet valiantly modern amongst the Insta-girls, Carine invites intrigue and uninhibited compliments.

I had always loved the concept of Tom Ford’s White Patchouli, but I eventually had to let go of my bottle. After a few hours, the development always disappointed me - it felt like a two-dimensional painting or an image I could admire intellectually, but not truly experience. Carine fills that space instead. It’s a sculpture, an experience that lasts for hours, holding its axis assertively even into the next day. Pure magic. I love it!

This floral amber opens with a blast of indolic, animalic, fiery jasmine set ablaze by pink pepper. Carine is zhuzhed up with rose and gardenia, while the patchouli hints at a raw and wild soul. Beyond the various promotional photoshoot interpretations, I also see the red bra revealed on the left side as a symbol of the heart. Given that the perfume’s name is Carine, the gesture suggests vulnerability and playfulness. That’s the simplest interpretation :) Very elegant and Vogue ;D

This is a very elegant floral. Its crisp & vibrant. The patchouli is gorgeous in this! Its super strong & long lasting. I paid a fortune to get it from the USA but my collection is out of control & i never reach for it unfortunately. Selling if anyone is interested- Australia only

This is hands down one of the best floral scents I've ever tried. The perfect patchouli and white floral combo, all the hype is deserved. I NEED IT NOW!!

A gentle, creamy and flowery scent - with a prominent patchouli edge nonetheless. I'd even say this is more about the gardenia and cashmeran to me than the patchouli. Vetiver gives it a bit of unisex freshness. I definitely don't perceive it as being as sharp, heavy or spice-centric as some other reviewers did, leading me to think this is a fragrance you definitely have to try before buying. Casual luxury is how I would describe the vibe of this scent - it's not too loud, not too recognizable, but feels high-quality. Like wearing a simple white t-shirt, but the t-shirt is 100% Pima cotton and cost you $100 - very fitting for a celebrity fragrance - and does make you feel somewhat like a celebrity, just dressed in everyday clothes and out for errands. Feels like a spring scent to me, but the general consensus seems to be that it's best for fall. Really like it, and would probably commit to a full-sized bottle, had it been a bit more affordable.

Lovely patchouli-amber-jasmine centric with total unisex quality that brings out the masculinity and femininity with such a balance in the wearer. I find this to be a more crystal clear version of MFK Ciel De Gum, where as the latter is more dense and intense, Carine tend to be an incredibly technical showcase of Ropion, a master of balancing and enhancing. As someone mentioned there is a slightly indolic bubble cut through by a slightly citrusy note which bestows (at least to my nose ) that 'Oriental-Chypre' category in its own. I love patchouli, I really like it, but not at my current stage in my perfumery path. I will come back to it though :) £203 for a 90ml as of 2024 it's a bit excessive considering the whole experience (packaging and bottle). Smell alone? Why not if you love it.

An elevated "mall" perfume. Reminiscent of Coco Mademoiselle. It has a cold smell which I think makes it a great summer fragrance for the right person. The patchouli and white florals are so well blended that even the avowed patchouli haters might like this. It is refined and expensive smelling (which it is) with a little bit of naughtiness and maybe stuffiness, too. I love to smell it but I don't like to wear it all day. It is beautiful but it is the kind of fragrance that wears you instead of you wearing it. I need something a little quieter and soft. But this is still a masterpiece!

This is good juice. High Quality. Superbly blended. Euro Boss B opening but the whole is not overdone. I can see Carine herself, but is actually less loud than I expected and dries down more softly feminine, smooth. This is definitely a white floral perfume. I'm loving the intense opening, peppery, vetiver, green edges. I don't get much rose (thankfully) but more white flowers. Patchouli is not prominent for me but rather is adding depth (disclaimer though I love patchouli), I get more vetiver. Sampling and I need to try on clothing next.

Does anyone else think this smells like a (good) Alien flanker? Maybe an Alien with a little bit of Angel. Good but not revelatory. If it came in a colorful spaceship bottle for a third of the price though ...

Carine surprised me - it’s not a brand I was familiar with and this is the first and only scent I’ve tried from them. Initially it opens up with the most wonderful rose and patchouli combination - the rose is dark, crimson and slightly jammy whilst the patchouli is slightly earthy and deliciously smooth. As you can tell I absolutely love the opening on this one, but unfortunately after a couple of minutes this lovely accord becomes dominated by fairly typical white florals. For me, this flattens the overall scent and leaves it smelling quite boring in a way - it would’ve been fantastic as a classic rose-patch combo. If this fragrance was linear from its opening and continued that deliciousness, I would have bought a bottle of this straight away. But unfortunately, the white florals let it down for me and so this is not a love overall.

A beautiful white floral scent with some earthiness grounding it. Sophisticated with an ever-so-slight edge. As I also experienced with Forgive Me, there's something that doesn't quite agree with my nose and gives that trigeminal nerve reaction. I hate that this happens to me with so many perfumes that I like the scent of!

This perfume made me realize how much I haaaate patchouli. I can't get past that and the rose. Its like a rotting flour bouquet with too many extra green bits. Skin Test 1/10

I’m getting a bottle! This is incredibly potent, lasts all day, wears beautifully, is quite expensive, aaand will I be able to use an entire giant bottle.. ?Idk yet I tried this three weeks ago and I just can’t stop with it. I’m not sure which note makes it a little sharp and soapy on my skin. Maybe the spices? The sharp soapy scent fades very quickly, and it turns into a warm patchouli -some days the white floral is stronger, ( but not indolic! to my nose) definitely a white floral perfume - some days it just smells expensive and patchouli based. This perfume depends on my body chemistry. It is heavier patchouli based scent-reminds me of an expensive clean person who is wildly confident and self-assured and seriously fun and funny. The ads for this caused quite a stir – I’m not really sure if I understand the ads😅 but it doesn’t matter. This fragrance was magnetic for me. I couldn’t stop thinking about it. It just feels good on me and to my nose.

I got this in today and it's an immediate love. Power woman scent. Very sexy almost metallic florals with a pervading green earthiness. I see myself reserving this for more elevated occasions, as the sillage is pretty intense. That said, I feel the patchouli is tempered enough by floral notes (I specifically get a very smooth, crisp rose in the dry down) to be inviting, as opposed to off-putting, for staunch patchouli-haters. It needs a few wears to be understood but I'm sensing resemblances to Diptyque's Eau Capitale, a fragrance that provides equal effortless French vibes, but Carine definitely allows the sparkling jasmine to take centre-stage in the opening. This fragrance and a pressed white shirt would make me feel bad in the best way.

A patchouli bomb! Starts with a sweet and green viperous rose, and a good dose of pepper then mixes in a creamy gardenia which just softens the bite of the rose. There's a medicinal edge at first which reminds me of Midnight Poison by Dior. But the overall feel is not so dark. It dries down all into patchouli, warm, earthy and a little sexy in that tousled kind of way. Its like walking through a garden on a sunny day, and then rolling around in the dirt. I have to spend more time getting to know it, but its good!
