Giselle

Warning--Giselle in the pink/white box is COMPLETELY different than Giselle in the yellow box! I hesitate to even call it a reformulation as there is literally no similarity between them. Reviews for both versions: Pink/white box (newer formula): The perfume itself is clear and colorless. Opening is a light undistinguished floral, somewhat reminiscent of EA's True Love (but nowhere near as good). The floral notes die down quickly leaving a slightly sweet, musky scent very similar to a dryer sheet. Projection is close to the skin throughout and the perfume is almost undetectable on my skin after 90 minutes. Scent: 1/10 Projection: 1.5/10 Longevity: 1/10 Yellow box (older formula): The liquid is a dark golden yellow color. The opening is warm creamy ylang-ylang, honey, a touch of coconut, and something (tuberose? jasmine?) that grounds it and lends a vintage, slightly animalic vibe. As it dries down the gourmand notes become more prominent until you're left with a sweet vanilla skin scent. This is such a classic floral perfume and I feel so womanly wearing it. Projection is average but longevity is fantastic--I could still smell wafts of delicious vanilla after 10 hours! I absolutely adore this perfume and have already bought a back up bottle. Scent: 8.5/10 Projection: 5/10 Longevity: 9/10

Giselle by Carla Fracci: You have everything I love about Organza, with more smoothness and softness (as well as desirable reserve)--in parfum! I was worried that this would be too sweet, as I find Organza to be these days-and Giselle is sweet-but I don't know what keeps this perfectly sweet and copper-colored velvet rather than just another sweet but pleasant Big White Floriental-it's classifed as Floral here, I don't think that's correct...Either way, it has a lightness about it, and doesn't smell too caramelly at all-this note can kill a possibly beautiful fragrance. I think I found the most beautiful--eh, maybe the only celebrity fragrance I want to wear! As refined as the lovely dancer Carla Fracci-with a plush sexiness breezing through! I want to try the EDP, as I like a little bit more sillage-this stays fairly close to the skin-but the lasting power is great, as a parfum should have. I hope to be able to review the EDP soon-if it retains most of what I love about the parfum, Giselle would be worthy of regular wear-maybe another signature even!

Guerlain's Aqua Allegoria Ylang et Vanille minus the carnation for $9 instead of $177.. Anyone who is disappointed that the Guerlain has become a unicorn should resort to Giselle (yellow box, not pink). Ylang stands loud and proud with a warm and welcoming vanilla. This works as an uplifting year rounder. Solid budget buy with none of the hairspray notes of other comparably priced beachy florals. You must love ylang and sweetness. A sunlight-flooded kitchen where pancakes drizzled with honey are being served. I'm into it. Just wanted to add that there is something in this composition that smells ever so slightly dated. It's not a bad thing but people may want to consider this especially when searching for a modern caramel gourmand floral. This may not fit the bill for you as it is indeed an elegant and proper perfume- not something to be eaten. Update- like savageinastrangeland below, I seem to be choosing this regularly out of my large collection. It's perfect for the end of summer/beginning of autumn. Comforting, cheery and not demanding at all.

Giselle – I purchased the parfum concentration which was super hard to open and I spilled about 10% in the process :(. What I found is that in large amounts this fragrance is extremely strong and long lasting. Even after cleaning the spill the following day when I was walking towards the kitchen I picked up the sweet cinnamon fragrance. In the kitchen where the accident occurred, the fragrance was present as if I had just spilled it. After sampling Giselle on my skin I get a very fresh sort of green ylang-ylang accompanied by a soft powdery cinnamon. The tuberose and coconut have a sort of creamy affect which is perfectly drizzled with honey. I can’t really say that caramel is dominant but maybe in the right weather this note might develop better. Overall wonderfully floral, yes, sweet gourmand foodie...not at all. Long lasting, yes, sillage from the stopper small application skin scent.

Giselle in the yellow box is a dream, Giselle in the pink box is a chemical nightmare. No notes correspond. Giselle in the yellow box, yellow liquid is a bouquet of creamy sunny honey drenched flowers with vanilla base. Giselle in the pink box with clear liquid is a nondescript ozonic flowery musky headache and nausea inducing mess. This is NOT a reformulation or package change. It is an ENTIRELY DIFFERENT fragrance. Fragrantica should make a separate entry for that monstrosity in the pink box.

Very, very pretty, creamy, warm, yellow floral and Smooth. Nothing harsh, Sharp or Loud. Rich, Smooth Opulent like honey. Though the honey in this isn't strong. Enough to give the ylamg & Tubereuse some rich sweetness. Soft Silage. Longevity is five hours. Very feminine. But, sexy, womanly type of feminine. Pretty is the best word to describe this. Though, I paid about fifty dollars for my bottle. Wasn't lucky enough to find it at a discount store. But, still worth every penny.

EDP: Not as lovely as pure parfum, no getting around it-but has more sillage, and has the same soul! My boyfriend and my younger brother both asked me "Which perfume are you wearing now?"-and followed with approval. Instant classic-I like it just as much as sultrier Must and Coco, but it's never too heavy or sweet-perhaps I like you more, Giselle!

Not a proper review, but this reminds me of Nokomis. Rich, sweet, honey drenched white florals. Found today for less than $10 at TJ Maxx. The one in the yellow box. If you’re craving that old drugstore favorite, you should definitely get this.

Sweet heaven in a bottle. The beginning smells like something between caramel pudding / sunscreen. Then it's still sweet but with dose of white flowers. Unique fragrance. Sad that it's so hard to find it these days.

Initially I found this to be very sweet and strikingly strong. Nevertheless within moments it settled into a smooth and very distinct yet warm caramel scent with superb sillage.

I won this in my very first giveaway from a generous fragrantican (Addict2perfume I'm looking at you lol) I owe huge thanks because I probably never would have found this gem otherwise! Anyway, this was the first fragrance of my winnings that I tried on my skin and I really, truly LOVE it! The first spray was intimidating, I wasn't sure what to think. However, I'm experienced enough with fragrance to know the first half hour doesn't necessarily mean squat in relation to how you will feel about a fragrance. But I didn't even need that long! Within 10 minutes of wear I knew this was going to get a lot of use! Within 10 days, it was a favorite! To me, this is a delicate balance of a almost tropical, floral, sweetness. It has a extremely slight, subtle hint of old school sunscreen (which I adore in fragrances) but it doesn't shout "beachy" or tanning lotion at all, like, it's barely there. Nor does it demand to only be worn in warm weather. This would fly in any season. It's mature without being dated. Overall, it's just balanced really, really well! I find this to be a bit like MM Ylang In Gold. It's really quite impressive for its price. Anyway, I highly recommend it to yellow floral lovers, and people who like a classy floral vanilla with a low key mellow tropical vibe without being overtly or Obnoxiously beach/tropical/sunscreeny. I find it comforting somehow and extremely versatile. I mean, you could wear this in any season from Hot summers to Ice storms. The performance is really decent. 8 hours, moderate-heavy silage. That is not typical of cheap fragrances on my skin! This lasts though. Others seem to really like it too, I've had a couple compliments mostly from men around my age. The other compliment was just my mom. lol Edit 7/12/2017: The more I wear this, the more I love it. It's now my summertime signature. I'm stocking up on bottles like crazy since the absolutely horrendous reformulation... of you can even call it that! It should have just been a different fragrance altogether rather than trying to pass it off as Giselle. Anyway, it's fantastic, YELLOW BOX WITH YELLOW JUICE ONLY, YA'LL!

Have only recently discovered this one and purchased blindly. I am besotted with this totally similar to my beloved Givenchy organza however a tad more wearable for the hot months in the office slightly more fresh and silky as organza can be a wee bit cloying and (do me now) in the warm months. I adore both and Organza would be my first choice (along with her sexy sister Indecence) however this is superbly blended fragrance with the same honeysuckle, nutmeg type notes but has a bit of Ysatis going on in the top notes with lots of delicious ylang ylang and honey. Do get a bit of the caramel too maybe some praline in there and some powderiness (think Charlie Gold)- definitely a modern but sensual fragrance but with some oldworld charm which keeps me interested. Sadly I have begun finding this rather too sweet for my tastes (could be that I am on a sugar free diet perhaps) and this has been gifted to a new loving home

non ricordo più chi mi ha spedito un campioncino di questo profumo, che ho del tutto ignorato per qualche annetto, con la classica "puzzetta sotto il naso" (è proprio il caso di dirlo!!) di chi si avvicina alle fragranze delle celebrità con un certo snobismo. Giselle, anche se non è il mio stile, è molto carino: somiglia pesantemente ad Organza, oltre a ricodarmi Jungle Le Tigre di Kenzo, ed è un floreale. benchè sulla carta la piramide sia ricca di quelle note bianche che io mal sopporto specie se tutte insieme (fresia, tuberosa, gelsomino etc etc), la percezione reale è invece incentrata su sentori di miele e di caramello che supportano ylang ylang burroso. quindi l'assestamento: su cannella, cocco e muschio. non un gourmand in senso stretto (non cioè proprio da mangiare) ma piuttosto un gourmand evoluto.

Gorgeous scent, and though the notes are different, on my skin Giselle bears a resemblance to Roberto Cavalli ORO. Both are divinely feminine, not old fashioned enough to be considered terribly mature, but balanced enough to be grown up and womanly, if that makes sense. A beautiful bottle and presentation make Giselle a joy for gift giving, though if once you get your hands on her, I dare you to give her up! To me Giselle is powdery, sweet, floral, creamy, and slightly fruity. A winner. No one note (outside of those lovely white florals) plays drama queen at the expense of the others. She is richly golden in aura and definitely WARM. Five stars. Note - I tested the YELLOW packaging, probably vintage. And that's the best way to sum up this scent too - Golden Yellow! <3

238 Oh this one is a very good indolic, tropical, intense ylang. It does remind me of Casmir, then ylang in gold. Still different and no watery notes like some ylang scents have. It’s an intensely fruity tropical floral with hints of tartness and sweetness(almost like a tart candy aroma). That’s how I like my ylang. It does have a feel from another time, but so does Poeme in the same way and both are fantastic. My only complaint is that it’s not long lasting even though at first spray it seems like it would be longer lasting due to a very strong opening. Poeme on the other hand keeps its scent longer. 8/10-delicious ylang

This fragrance kept popping up in many of the gourmand collections at TPC, so I thought I'd try it. A sweet, salty, lush, warm, yellowish floral. An amped up suntan lotion that's quite yummy. It smells like laying out on a hot beach near a tropical flower garden while eating a melty salted caramel! The beginning is strong & sweet, but it calms down pretty quickly to a honeyed, warm, almost ambery floral. I like the ylang in it and it could be a cousin of Avon Rare Gold. Or a flanker, "Rare Gold Extreme Summer"! I would call it more floral than gourmand, but it definitely has that "yum" factor.

Gentle, honeyed floral. No freesia present on my skin, which is good! If the caramel is at all noticable, I can't tell... This soft sweetness could be peach or pineapple equally. The sum total is beautifully blended and cozy. Not a gourmand, but a YELLOW floral. A slight resemblance to Organza makes Giselle an updated version of the floriental bombs popular in the 90's, with lower sillage and softer focus. I especially love the perfect blending of musk, honey, and florals. Somehow the honey + tuberose + ylang ylang come across to me as HONEYSUCKLE. No bad thing! :D

This review is for the pure perfume edition of Giselle. G. is a cheerfully classy and feminine scent, enriched with ylang and vanilla. There is a resemblance to the sweeter Casmir, and the ylang note reminds me of Ysatis and Giorgio. While G. isn't as powerful as the mentioned scents, it does have a presence. Women who can't or won't wear a strong perfume but love the yellow notes may find G. a worthwhile choice. Sillage is modest for a parfum, longevity is good. Despite its richness G. is easy to wear and appropriate for the office.

I am surprised this is not more popular with the sweeter scents crowd. I like gourmand florals but find most of them too sugary or too department store to wear in NYC as an adult without embarrassment. This is much more subtle and adult than a lot of flowery gourmands. Soft sweet scent you might like if you like Lempicka fragrances.

Sweet light vanilla ylang ylang floral, surprisingly very lasting. Easy to wear. Smells like a quality product. Good pick for 15$ set in Marshalls, going to get it. Made in style of Cashmir and Hana Mori.
