Sandor 70's

When I smell this, I am reminded of the power of ambience in perfume to set the scene. Sandor 70's slinks, all stealthy and sensuous, circling just beyond my space, and is another one of those where the sillage differs from what is experienced when my nose is close to my skin. The elements are like flecks of light, dimming and illuminating and back again. It's the subtle funk of a speakeasy skank-lounge with glowing tips of lit cigarettes in dark corners and the mingling of rose-indolic-jasmine perfume and sweat. Burning sage sticks and leather lounge sets warmed by the asses of the lustful and Hors d'Age buzzed. Yet none of it is front and center, which is part of its allure, it's all ambient: as if one is a voyeur and wearing the tang of this shadowy locale, passing by the doorless lavatory with fluorescent-white lurid urinals wafting frankincense-scented piscuits. I can't help but to imagine that "One Night in Bangkok" is playing: "Thank God I'm only watching the game, controlling it." The magic to Sandor 70's is in its subtlety. There is no clobbering over there head here—remember, flecks. At its quietest state, I am reminded of the cedar aspect of Animalis base and oakmoss eclipses any previous suggestion of leather. I am so impressed by the dynamism here from beginning to end.

Sweet rose, tobacco, slight yellow florals, leather opening. Dark in tone, but refined. Sophisticated.. Reminds me of visiting my great grandparents, the smell of cheroots and leather couches. vases of flowers all over their apartment Definitely not a young-people scent, it's not a party frag or a "compliment magnet", but I love it. It's very well put together and does a great job of combining sweet balsams and tobacco with florals and hitting a middle-road where it's not too much in either direction

Boozy rich leather with a cognac soaked oak notes. Beautiful dark and sexy. I can feel a bit of spices and a subtle sweetness that makes this brutal scent a bit softer. I believe it’s osmanthus that gives it this charming touch. Great stuff! Follow me on IG: scent.guide

Category: Leather, tobacco, woody Notes: Sprays on a strong tobacco and smooth leather, perhaps that’s the suede as it does have some nearly “powdery” qualities. There’s some citrus in the beginning as well but it’s very mild. The oakmoss adds a damp nuance to this that unfortunately makes it smell a little like a wet cigarette butt. The peru balsam is also very prominent as there’s a distinct coniferous woodiness to this, and I would assume it’s this, in conjunction with the incense, that gives it a campfire-esque feel. The overall scent impression lands somewhere between the remnants of a smoked cigar left out in the rain and a campfire in the woods just after the rain, next to a saddled up horse or two. The dampness does dissipate with time and is nearly entirely gone after an hour or two of wear, and it lands in what I'd describe as a mildly smokey suede. Vibe: Camping. Wild west. Horseback riding. Spurs. Leather boots. Firewood. River. Local bakery at 4am. Cobbler. Riding crops. Whiskey on the rocks. Cigars and cigarettes. Smoking lounge. Speak-easy. Red leather and vinyl. Jazz or blues. Velvet or manchester suit. Mustache. Cobblestone streets. Sillage: 6.5/10. Quite mellow, and thank god - this is not the kind of scent you want too loud. It is reserved but definitely projects enough to leave a scent trail or have people catch whiffs of it when you lean in close. It does become more and more quiet with time until it eventually fades entirely, likely lasts much better on clothes. Longevity: 6/10. Lasts about 6 hours on skin. Would’ve liked to have seen a better performance in terms of longevity for the price point at which it retails. Wear: I’d say this works equally well for day or evening wear, but I’d probably reserve this for the fall and winter seasons. Could however be worn on a particularly chilly, rainy spring or summer day. Personally I’d say this is incredibly unisex, but the tobacco, leather and coniferous woods do lean in the way of what a lot would consider traditionally masculine, so if you tend to enjoy more true unisexes or feminine leaning unisexes I’d steer clear of this one. In my book this is office wear approved for men but use it conservatively. Overall rating: 6.5/10. What an evocative fragrance! Sexy, rugged and yet somehow serene - this evokes a scene of a band of cowboys winding down after a long hard day at work. Their still saddled horses tied to the trunks of tall pine trees, wet clothing washed in the river nearby hanging on string tied between branches, as they all gather round the campfire for a swig of whiskey, a nice cigar and some blues-y tunes on acoustic guitar. There’s a rough-around-the-edges quality to this that feels very traditionally masculine, like dirty, calloused hands and a five o’clock shadow. Yet it’s not untamed or haphazard, in fact, it is very comforting and mellow - like a father singing lullabies to his daughter, or a man holding his lover tight in a slowdance. Now, while I do think this at face value screams traditionally masculine, it is by no means a fragrance off-limits for women. I totally see this making sense on women with a very strong, commanding aura, I’m thinking someone like Angela Bassett or Mila Jovovich in the Resident Evil movies. The only downside to this fragrance is that it doesn’t last as long as I'd like, which is a total shame because it is a truly gorgeous woody leather tobacco scent. I do have to disagree with most other reviewers saying this is a fragrance more befitting of an older gentleman - while it is certainly adult, it is not old fashioned. I'd say 30 and above is a more fitting age range, but a guy in his 20s with the right look and energy could totally rock the shit out of this if he wanted. Same goes for women. I'll have to try this out a few more times to decide if it's for me ON me, but can say I'd definitely enjoy this on a guy. Who would wear it?: Tom Selleck. Pedro Pascal. Drover in Australia (2008).

The Sandor was an iconic trendy bar in Barcelona of the 70's where people were going to see and be seen. People smoked and flirted sitting on aristocratic leather armchairs. This fragrance recalls the aromas of the 70 under three odoriferous agreements: One of suede, another of tobacco and finally one of leather of Spain. Open a fresh bergamot already attached to the floral notes to the old school under an achiprado background of patchouli with oakmoss. The tobacco smoke that is felt from the beginning remains in the background with the aroma of a spectacular tanned leather, flowery and dry. From the opening and even the middle notes, everything transmits an incredible energy that teletransports you in time to those aromas of the decade, is ingenious, full of light and magnetism. After drying, the fragrance begins to lose that magnetic attraction to the detriment of a kind of smoke of an incense tobacco that loses and loses in tenacity until it stays very close to skin and at the same time it makes you return from that dream seven, opacandolo everything . In summary, a really good start, with a not so good drying that leaves you a little "desole" to be able to consider Sandor a masterpiece. With another drying it would have been better !! Rating: 7.5

this to me smells like sage (which is a type of incense) it actually reminds me of when my aunty used to burn sage in her house. I can pick up on the tobacco and an animal facet but those are fainter, unfortunately I can't pick up any leather but usually that seems to be a rolling theme for me. there is a slight sweetness hanging around which offsets the dryness nicely but for me its mostly a very dry comforting sort of scent. as a 21m I believe this would wear really nicely on a date (if you want to be memorable and edgy) and really nicely at the club where everything smells sickly sweet. Edit: this dries down to be an even better scent the vanilla comes out more and smooths and rounds out nicely. the main players here for me in the dry down is the vanilla incense tobacco and I get a smokiness. I would also imagine in the dry down this would be more mass appealing while still being unique so envelope pushing but not enough to turn people off. On account of the dryness and density this has it smells quite masculine to me but in saying that I would like smell this on a women even if just to see how the scent differentiates on female skin

Strong leather, tobacco and after drydown sage. Not bad, definitely masculine. Kind of harsh though, sillage and longevity ok but nothing great. I'm not a big fan of sage. Received as a sample but for the price of a full bottle, I think I'll pass.

Oof. This is what I’d class as a challenging scent. Boozy, woody and, close up, animalic. The opening is lovely. It’s the dry down where this becomes a bit too overpowering for my taste. I can see this’d work for those who love their juice on the pungent side. Nothing wrong with that. It just doesn’t work for me. No matter how much I want to like this, I can’t escape the barnyard animalic undertones.

This is a classic masculine scent according to my nose. Regal, classy and manly with the air of previous era. It's not dated or old school but it has a vintage masculine vibe. If you like Hermès Voyage d'Hermes Parfum and Hermès Voyage d`Hermes But especially this Narciso Rodriguez Narciso Rodriguez for Him Bleu Noir You will probably like this Carner scent. The vibe is the same as in this Narciso but only deeper, richer and more complex. This scent either contains cumin and cardamom or a symohony of other notes which give this feeling. I'd say that it is similar to Bleu Noir by Narciso Rodriguez like a bigger & richer brother. It also has a shortlived BO feeling. Dominant notes according my nose : leather, tobacco, sage, traces of osmanthus, cumin, cardamom, vetiver. Before it dies, it smells like dirty vanilla. Performance is moderate. Suitable for spring/fall and early summer. Update Today I tried it again. The composition is beautiful but it gives me a BO smell from time to time which is bad. I do like it but the BO smell is very disturbing for my nose.

An aborted attempt at testing as my companion exclaimed that Sandor 70's, in its opening, smelled like a combination of urinal & barnyard (on both our skins). I thought it was too dense & skanky, as to be moderately offensive to the nose. As I am usually a fan of Carner perfumes, this was a fast but reluctant pass for me.

Clary sage, suede, balsam, patchouli, oakmoss, and dirty vetiver. Earthy bittery and overly sour. I can detect some ebony wood in here as well. it wasn't a good blend actually with that salty effect, and that huge doses of clary sage. Nah.

Not for me. Too rough. Does not smell appealing at all. I was actually afraid to leave my house wearing this out of fear for being shunned. Scrubber for me. If you're into weird leathery scents with a mix of oddly placed florals then have at it. 3.2/10 - Not the worst fragrance I've ever smelled so there's that!

Smells like you're passing through a red light district or sitting in an old bar with leather Chesterfield couches. It might work if you're 60+

What an interesting perfume! Booooozy. Right off the bat, boozy. And then I got a like dried fruit (similar to Arabie) along with black licorice / rubber. Quite a different composition so far. I don't really get leather/suede with this. I get a rubber-y elastic band smell. Kind of like a new rubber shoe sole smell, or like new bike tires. This to me smells like boozy + rubber (like REALISTIC rubber, more realistic than any other rubber frag I've potentially smelled) + maybe licorice & dried fruit or something. This is based off of right after applying and soon after. Edit: Wow, it becomes pretty nice later on! The rubber smell calms down a lot, and some sweetness comes out. This is actually quite a pleasant drydown. So if you dislike the opening, but find it interesting - just wait a while. Give it around 30 mins and then smell it. Dare I say.. lovely.

I recently fell in love with this brand. I nearly blind bought this as a FB as a review here compared it to PDM Herod - one (?) of my signatures - despite the note make up. I wisely arranged a sample. Lovely - surprisingly I understand the Herod analogy. Its more boozy, syrupy and smooth with more of a leather hint. Herod is still superior - dry - and by far the best tobacco scent IMHO. Whilst it is enjoyable I do not find this unlike many Carner B to be astonishing or great value. This reminded me more so of Les Jeux Son Faits by Jovoy Paris which is cheaper and better in strength. It too trying to represent also quite successfully a club of some time passed. If you like Herod, Les Jeux Son Faits, Lubin Korrigan and such you may want to try this. For me I will collect some other bottles of CB...

Neutral for a man, thumbs up for a lady. Just. This is a spicy oriental a la Amouage Journey Man, Memoires of a Trespasser Imaginary Authors, Histoire des Parfums 1740, Roja Fate Man , Zoologist Camel, Jovoy les Jeux Sont Faites. These 5 are : candyfloss sweet, boiled sweet sweet, tobacco, a heavy one, leather, woody. For me the best of the lot is 1740. Outstanding. This one starts off as it could be a contender. Not sweet and slightly more subtle, less tobacco but slowly it morphs into a sweeter rubbery amber fragrance which is nice enough, not very masculine but would suit some ladies. 1740 it is then. FBW. Fragrance: 7/10 Projection: 7/10 Longevity: 8/10

This has absolutely NOTHING to do with CHICAGO HIGH! I own and wore both fragrances, so there's that. I still need to get a few more wearings with Sandor 70's It is really meant to be smelled at a distance for it to have this alluring quality. If you smell it up close, it's skanky for sure. It really is all about the woods/leather (with animalic touches) with this one. I do not get any florals in here. There is some tobacco ash underneath but it does not satisfy my hunger for tobacco as I like my tobacco on the damp unlit cigar type side of things. This is a great masculine hairy chest woody/leather scent if you're looking for that.

this one is definitely intriguing... at the start, it smells like a freshly polished, cleaned and detailed rental car. that's the feeling i got... there's a stank leathery-suedey accord front and centre, but, what lurks beneath is deep, dense and boozy. i really like it! it's an animalic version of baraonda, down to the tobacco ash and booze accord i get with baraonda. and whilst i own and love baraonda, the leather coat this scent is wearing doesn't work exactly, for mine. definitely worth a sniff or twelve...

Nothing too unpleasant,or poop,or fecal...ok,if you’re on some bleu de chanels,or sauvage type of mediocre smelling fragrances,this will be “challenging”,but if you want to explore a little bit of the usuall mall fragrances,this is a nice one...pretty original,boozy,leathery,cognac type of smell.Yes,i can imagine some nice bar with lot of wood furniture,cigarettes and whisky,visually to be strongly connected with this fragrance.I really like it...only for fall/wither season.

is it just me, or does anyone else get notes of Nasomatto's 'Baraonda'? That's what I get, mostly from start to finish. Intense booziness, mild animalic stank, tobacco smoothness (think tobacco oud by tom ford) and one of those maltol aromachemicals (they all sortakinda smell the same for me). If I didn't already own Baraonda, I'd consider this. I really REALLY would...
