Amber Desire

Comforting, warm and cozy! Spicy amber vanillic scents is a favorite scent family of mine and Amber Desire checks all the boxes for me when it comes to a rosy, spicy amber scent. This is a sweet amber, lightly spiced, with a bright rose that doesn't overwhelm the composition compared to the wildly popular Ambre Nuit, which I would also classify as a rosey amber. I can't really pick out the ylang ylang but there is a smoothness to this blend which I attribute to it and I also get a chewy, sweet dried dates note, which is mouthwatering. I don't know if my nose is broken but I get the lightest of lavender notes, hidden away behind all the power players, evident to me in the dry down which compliments the slightly powdery feel of this stage. Everything is rounded of by a gorgeous vanilla and of course, amber and the scent dries down to beautiful slightly powdery ambery rose, like a warm heartfelt hug from a loved one. This composition certainly has a lot of gourmand facets however the florals here prevent it from being categorically labeled as one. This is another winner for me from this line. Performance is excellent and in my opinion, this is unisex, perfect for cold winter days!

Opens as a powdery, amber heavy scent. Slowly but surely, a beautiful scent trail is left behind. It’s stunning and smells mesmerizing. A soft, slightly syrupy vanillic amber. To be quite honest, I don’t get any dates or cinnamon. It’s a very straightforward amber-labdanum-vanilla scent. I will update after I’ve tried it out for a little! UPDATE: starting to get a lot more of that date note. It’s not a sweetened date. It’s a darker, slightly syrupy date. It’s not sticky and dense but it does have body. There are times where the note smells scorched - dry and smells like a desert. This note here reminded me of camel from zoologist. So I think this veers slightly animalic at times, from the labdanum giving it this musky, animalicness. Furthermore, this sweetened cinnamon note is much much more pronounced. It just adds to the fragrance. It’s beautiful!

Ooooh! It's absolutely divine! Such beautiful sweet, rich, exotic amber! The date are soooo good, giving a wonderful rich oriental tone to the amber, and the rose is absolutely heavenly - it is deep, rich and velvety, which brings even more delight to the fulness of the amber. It's so gorgeous. And there's such depth from the labdanum, such a deep leathery note, and the vanilla amps up the sweet factor, to splendid heights! Oh it's completely mesmerizing - powerful and mysterious. It's very luxurious and deeply feminine, and I get compliments all the time. My husband is rapt in it, and it lasts really well; still strong after hours and hours. It's beautiful. Totally beautiful.

I got this in the winter because, like the rest of the CH Prive line, it smells super rich, cinnimon sicy, sweet, but not like a cola or syrupy like many ambers. It was cold outside and 62F inside and the projection wasn't great. I would wear it in the evening, or to bed, because it wasn't cloying. Very soothing and delicious. It's summer now, 80F outside, and it projects much better. I tried wearing a designer the other day Boss Bottled Absolou and it was so sweet it smelled cheap. This Amber desire is sweet and spicy and it smells as good as it costs. Aside from this, the perfumer Anne Flipo is a genius and it stands out here.

This is the best amber I have ever smelled. Super elegant, smooth, without that "barbershop" aroma that many ambers have, a little spicy and balsamic. I don't smell any dates anywhere. It's a vanilla and balsamic amber. My bottle is from 2016, I thought that over the years it would perform better, but no, unfortunately for me this is a skin scent. super delicious, but the projection is almost zero, I have always used it as a perfume for layering. I recently found a bottle and was tempted to buy it, but it is so weak that I decided not to fall for it again.
