Amber Desire

Comforting, warm and cozy! Spicy amber vanillic scents is a favorite scent family of mine and Amber Desire checks all the boxes for me when it comes to a rosy, spicy amber scent. This is a sweet amber, lightly spiced, with a bright rose that doesn't overwhelm the composition compared to the wildly popular Ambre Nuit, which I would also classify as a rosey amber. I can't really pick out the ylang ylang but there is a smoothness to this blend which I attribute to it and I also get a chewy, sweet dried dates note, which is mouthwatering. I don't know if my nose is broken but I get the lightest of lavender notes, hidden away behind all the power players, evident to me in the dry down which compliments the slightly powdery feel of this stage. Everything is rounded of by a gorgeous vanilla and of course, amber and the scent dries down to beautiful slightly powdery ambery rose, like a warm heartfelt hug from a loved one. This composition certainly has a lot of gourmand facets however the florals here prevent it from being categorically labeled as one. This is another winner for me from this line. Performance is excellent and in my opinion, this is unisex, perfect for cold winter days!

Opens as a powdery, amber heavy scent. Slowly but surely, a beautiful scent trail is left behind. It’s stunning and smells mesmerizing. A soft, slightly syrupy vanillic amber. To be quite honest, I don’t get any dates or cinnamon. It’s a very straightforward amber-labdanum-vanilla scent. I will update after I’ve tried it out for a little! UPDATE: starting to get a lot more of that date note. It’s not a sweetened date. It’s a darker, slightly syrupy date. It’s not sticky and dense but it does have body. There are times where the note smells scorched - dry and smells like a desert. This note here reminded me of camel from zoologist. So I think this veers slightly animalic at times, from the labdanum giving it this musky, animalicness. Furthermore, this sweetened cinnamon note is much much more pronounced. It just adds to the fragrance. It’s beautiful!

Ooooh! It's absolutely divine! Such beautiful sweet, rich, exotic amber! The date are soooo good, giving a wonderful rich oriental tone to the amber, and the rose is absolutely heavenly - it is deep, rich and velvety, which brings even more delight to the fulness of the amber. It's so gorgeous. And there's such depth from the labdanum, such a deep leathery note, and the vanilla amps up the sweet factor, to splendid heights! Oh it's completely mesmerizing - powerful and mysterious. It's very luxurious and deeply feminine, and I get compliments all the time. My husband is rapt in it, and it lasts really well; still strong after hours and hours. It's beautiful. Totally beautiful.

I got this in the winter because, like the rest of the CH Prive line, it smells super rich, cinnimon sicy, sweet, but not like a cola or syrupy like many ambers. It was cold outside and 62F inside and the projection wasn't great. I would wear it in the evening, or to bed, because it wasn't cloying. Very soothing and delicious. It's summer now, 80F outside, and it projects much better. I tried wearing a designer the other day Boss Bottled Absolou and it was so sweet it smelled cheap. This Amber desire is sweet and spicy and it smells as good as it costs. Aside from this, the perfumer Anne Flipo is a genius and it stands out here.

This is the best amber I have ever smelled. Super elegant, smooth, without that "barbershop" aroma that many ambers have, a little spicy and balsamic. I don't smell any dates anywhere. It's a vanilla and balsamic amber. My bottle is from 2016, I thought that over the years it would perform better, but no, unfortunately for me this is a skin scent. super delicious, but the projection is almost zero, I have always used it as a perfume for layering. I recently found a bottle and was tempted to buy it, but it is so weak that I decided not to fall for it again.

Absolutely the best Amber perfume in the market in my opinion, sweet, warm, spicy. It’s exactly Lancôme oud bouquet without the oud. Same fragrance and performance. It’s so beautiful and best for cold days. If you want a budget friendly alternative try zimaya sharaf blend. You can tell that’s made from less expensive ingredients and a little less finesse, so not as rounded out or fancy but the vibe is exactly the same.

I get a lot of dates mix with amber, very sweet, dusty, powdery and warm scent, not alike with Grand Soir, GS dry down has a bit sour vibe and Amber Desire is very sweet and warmer than GS, I think its work great in cold weather, 4 or 5 sprays is enough overall 8/10

I think this fragance is for spring -summer.In winter doesn ́t work so fine. With cold i cannot to take nothing sillage is zero totally.And lasting power isnot good. Is better for hot or warm weather,,then you can to take sweet dates and vanilla amber.

I love this fragrance a lot. It’s amazing, it lasts a really long time on me but it doesn’t project much. I would say it is my second favorite from the ones I’ve tried my favorite is sandal ruby 😍

I have, so far, to have a bad experience with CH... THIS SOUNDS EXQUISITE!! If it appears in the UK I'll be a happy bunny. I sense a day trip to Harrods calls...

Oh yeaah. Yumm! I'm getting Suki Weil vibes, which I SO wanted to love, it is gorgeous but I just couldn't get past the funky drydown (on me anyway) This is gorgeous labdanum, chewy dates and amber. I also get shisha vibes, like a gourmand smokyness to it. Love! If you love this but want a cheaper alternative, do try Suki, it's quite good and might work for you. This (and others of this line) very softly spoken on me :/ I crave more intensity (at this price point especially!) ** Sample swap UK - pm me! **

Softly spicy, powdery, mildly sweet. Beautifully blended. Long lasting, with a moderate sillage. Warm, comfortable and homey. Amber Desire is nice, but isn’t a showstopper. Soft, agreeable and unlikely to offend in any situation. Leans a bit feminine to me due to the heavy powdery quality. Cozy sweater weather type of scent. Not the amber I’m looking for unfortunately. But definitely worth sampling.

It's very nice indeed, but way too expensive for what it is. The first 15 minutes are marvelous but after that it's just a very common amber scent. You can buy Armaf Niche Oud, which costs a fraction of CH's, smells almost identical (even in quality) and it performs excellent.

This is probably my favorite of the collection (I do have bias over amber though). The style reminds me of Le Gemme of Bvlgari--part Amarena (cherry), part Calaluna (milky), and part Zahira ("yellow" amber). *Cinnamon, coriander, and ylang-ylang are missing

I go almost immediately nose blind to this but what I do get is a sweet and sticky amber. Not quite sweet but there’s depth there. I like this but not enough to the pay the price on the label 🤷🏼

The date note in this is spot on, it really complements the syrupy amber sweetness. Behind it is an extremely powdery rose. I'm sure this is exquisite if powdery sweet is your preference. Unfortunately, my skin amplifies both sweetness and powder, making this smell like a nauseating artificial date syrup.

I Don’t know how people are smelling dates when according to the official list of notes on the Carolina Herrera website there are no dates in this fragrance! This is a lovely smooth creamy amber, it reminds me of D&G’s Velvet Skin and Velvet sun, I would place this directly in the middle of those two, Unfortunately on me this doesn’t project much and longevity isn’t that great but that could be because I have a habit of going anosmic to this genre of fragrance.

Nice! I've been looking for an amber to add to my collection but have found many too smoky or strong. This one is a bit light while still recognizably amber. I love the underlying floral note of rose, it is fresh and lightens the other notes. This could be my amber!

Hmm...rich mysterious amber with excellent lasting power. Reminds me very much of ‘Ambre Nuit’ by Dior which I have owned in the past. I think this one lasts longer and is deeper. If you like warm scents and amber, try it and I doubt you will be dissapointed.

Reminds me a little bit of Ambre sultan which i dislike, disappointed because i was expecting a bit more. think that there are a lot of amber based fragrances that smell like that but however i think it's still a good scent.

This needs to macerate to stop nose blindness. This is hands down the most gorgeous amber fragrance I’ve ever tried. Mixes well with anything you want to add depth to. Ten out of ten. I think it’s discontinued, sadly. Love
