CH Birds Of Paradise For Her

I'm not usually into Carolina Herrera scents, but something about this garishly girly bottle and the notes really appealed to me. I tracked in down on holiday in Porto, sprayed liberally, and remember really liking it, but not loving it. However, after returning to the UK something about it was still calling to me, so I bought it. I absolutely love it! The blackcurrant is so juicy and fruity in the opening, there is sweetness but I find there to be some tartness too which balances this out. The rose and other notes are fairly well hidden in there but it develops into a slightly powdery fruity floral vanilla. I kind of know most people will find this pretty standard designer / quite derivative, and yet there is something about this right now that I just love, the opening is so vibrant and appealing. It's reminding me slightly of Donna Born in Roma, although there is no jasmine here, I think the general vibe is similar and there is crossover in them both having blackcurrant also. I'm really glad I got this as it will work very nicely for most of the year I think. I'm surprised about them marketing this as a tropical / beachy scent as I wouldn't have said it was that kind of feel for me - not overtly summery and the coconut isn't something I would have picked out at all. It's smells a bit like love heart sweets to me, that sherbert-y brightness combined with a slight vanilla powder. In my experience it has very moderate sillage and longevity - I overspray (around 10 sprays on clothes and skin) and could smell it nicely for about 5-6 hours, and on my clothes up close the next day.

The first time I perceived it, I thought it had notes of passion fruit, but I was stunned when I went in to investigate and there was no passion fruit anywhere, then I realized that what gave me that tropical and fruity vibe is the tart combination of the black currants with the sweetness of the coconut. The rest of the notes give it a feminine consistency and blend beautifully that balances the fruity and floral. Definitely love at first sniff hahaha. In any case I'm not a fan of CH perfumes either. So far the VIP 212 Elixir and this "birds of paradise" perfume have managed to captivate me.

Love this fruity, vainillish, powdery, girly and uplifting kinda scent. Might not be groundbreaking but totally a safe blind buy. The bottle design is gorgeous.

Finally it's in store in Spain. I couldn't wait to try this fragrance because I loved the bottle so much I was hoping I am going to like the scent too and maybe buy it. First of all, the bottle is so cute irl too! It's even cuter than on the pictures. The birds are cut-out and glued on the band so it has a bit of 3D effect. I love exotic birds so I love the packaging. Now the scent, is not a love but it's a like. However didn't convince me to buy it. It opens with a very sweet fruity black currant note, it's not tart but more on the sugary jammy side. I wish it would be more refreshing but it's very sweet. The mid, I must say the rose is not very well executed unfortunately, comes of a bit synthetic powdery and sweet rose. But it disappears kind of quickly. The dry down is a vanilla-sandalwood combination. It's very sweet vanilla with a little bit synthetic sandalwood. It's a bit powdery as well. It's not bad at all. I get a hint of coconut in this stage. What is most prominent in my opinion is the sweet black currant meshing with the vanilla-sandalwood combination. Overall it's cute, not great tho. I can see this more as an all year round fragrance, unfortunately it's too sweet for the summer as it doesn't have any freshness. Everything about this fragrance is mediocre but still the dry down is kind of addictive. I wish the sweetness was toned down. I am not sure if I want to buy it. I would definitely wear it during fall and winter but until than I know I will not reach for it.

Such an underrated gem. Great summer fragrance. Clean, sweet coconut and vanilla that for me has great longevity and projection. It does have a DBIR vibe but it’s better. I decluttered DBIR. I wish some of the fragrance girls would get a hold of this gem so we can talk about it lol.

Opens with a lively burst that instantly feels tropical and fun. The sweetness I would say is balanced with a soft floral side, making it lighthearted but still elegant. It’s the kind of scent that brightens your mood without trying too hard.

OMG the bottle is divine! So tacky, yet so cute! Flamingos, what's not tackier than flamingos, I mean, come on! Where do I try? 4.19 rating too? Ok. Tell me, ladies?
