Neroli Boheme

Ever since fragrance has turned into a passion, I've been drawn to the scent of neroli, which began with Tom Ford's Neroli Portofino. I like the complete NP collection, however, the original turns to an old-fashioned soap on me after a few hours, the Forte is just too expensive for what you get and the Aqua, although my favourite neroli fragrance in terms of smell, suffers from poor performance. Ever since my early neroli experiences, I've been searching for the holy grail of neroli perfume. One that is not too bitter but likewise not too feminine either and has great performance. In short, a unisex citrus-floral with good longevity and projection. With the amount of Neroli fragrances out there you might think my search would be easy but that's not been the case, mainly because the fragrances I've tried, and I've sampled many, suffer from one of the issues mentioned above, i.e. too bitter, too floral or poor performance. In Neroli Boheme, I've found a neroli fragrance that's the best of any I've tried. This fragrance is absolutely stunning. Similar in tone to the original Neroli Portofino; it's what NP should be. Upon the initial spray you get a blast of citrus so juicy you can almost taste it. This top layer of Tunisian Neroli and citrus is followed by a heart of Arabian Jasmine, which stops the citrus becoming too shrill and gives the fragrance some depth and a touch of softness. This is all anchored on a base of Musk and Benzoin, leading too a surprisingly long-lasting, beautiful citrus-floral that's almost everything I've been looking for; bright, warm and clean. Yes, it's a simple composition but one that's been executed incredibly well - it just smells so natural and with good performance (although if you went by the voting above, at the time of writing, you would think it's a beast; it's not but the performance is above average for this type of fragrance, with great longevity - my only slight gripe is that I wished it projected a bit more). I would categorise this as unisex, although it could be too feminine for some with its soft floral heart, although the same could be said of NP. It's certainly one of those fragrances that wraps you in a hug and puts a smile on your face. This fantastic scent easily makes it into my top 10 fragrances; I love everything about it. It's wonderfully presented too, in its heavy green crystal glass bottle, which oozes quality. I hope they never stop making this gem or cut corners with reformulations. To me, Neroli Boheme by Carolina Herrera is like the baby of both Neroli Portofino by Tom Ford and Fleur D'oranger Intense by Fragonard. It is a sweeter and more feminine fragrance than Neroli Portofino, but a less feminine fragrance than Fleur D'oranger Intense by Fragonard. Neroli Boheme doesn't have the aromatic qualities from Neroli Portofino like the rosemary, angelica, lavender and myrtle in that one, but it isn't quite as white floral as Fleur D'oranger Intense by Fragonard. I'd call Neroli Boheme a citrusy white floral with calming properties, all centered around neroli and orange blossom of course. It does get slightly tinny smelling during the last couple of hours though, which I'm not in love with. I could imagine this fragrance working great for both a spring or summer day and being something nice you could just spritz on while in Mykonos or Sicily, lounging on the beach or riding your yacht. It smells high end, high quality and yet casual all at the same time. It leans slightly feminine, but is otherwise a unisex fragrance that could be worn by either men or women. It is also mass appealing and inoffensive, thus being work-appropriate. Sillage was moderate on me and its wear time was about 7 and a half hours, turning into a skin scent at around the 4 hours mark on me and then lingering and gently waiting for the rest of its wear. For the above reasons, I'd give this a solid 8/10. Fleur D'oranger Intense by Fragonard is still my most favorite orange blossom fragrance, though.

This is one of the best neroli fragrances you will find. If you’re searching and searching for that “one” perfect neroli that you can’t seem to find and haven’t tried this one, locate a sample. It’s a perfected Neroli Portofino. It’s truly flawless for that 4711 style neroli. Also lasts longer than most. It reminds me more of vintage NP than the current formulation actually. It’s more luxe but can be dressed up or down. This stuff is perfection in my opinion. It leans “slightly” femme but not much. It’s pretty straight down the middle unisex in my opinion but less masculine than some so it can be worn comfortably by anyone.

I took a chance on this one because I love neroli. This is such a nice neroli floral fragrance! It has a great balance of neroli and jasmine. It's gentle and pretty, and is surprisingly long lasting. I struggle finding neroli scents that last more than a couple of hours and I'm happy to report this one does. It's not as sharply citrus and unisex as Jo Malone Orange Blossom (although it outperforms that one).

Hands down, my absolute favorite neroli fragrance ever! It's the most elevated version imaginable of the large summery citrus fragrance family that includes Jean Marie Farina Extra Vieille by Roger & Gallet and 4711 Original Eau de Cologne by 4711. It lasts about 2 or 3 hours tops. I pack a small decant in my bag on days I'm wearing this, in order to respray as needed. Happiness in every spritz!

I can't believe that I am the first to comment on this amazing perfume! Actually I have registered to the website just to write this comment! I love it because it reminds me of the smell of the citrus trees in the spring in my village! It is however overpriced (990/-AED = 270$) in Dubai! But if I had extra cash, I would definitely buy it! Gorgeous smooth, dewy fresh, clean neroli. Silky, elegant, and joyfully crisp. Lush Indian jasmine and pristine orange blossom with a splash of juicy fresh cut citrus. Celestial, warm, sunlit splendor. I love it. Sunshine in a bottle.

Absolutely beautiful fragrance. Fresh, summery, full of citrus, drying down to beautiful neroli mixed with jasmine. All in an extremely elegant bottle. Receiving many compliments wearing this, close to neroli perfection.

My favorite citrus perfume! This smells wonderful, amazing and it's just overall beautiful!! Great Neroli with hints of zest, long-lasting and great projection, just take my money Carolina Herrera!

Lightly spiced neroli with lovely jasmine base. Smells classy and interesting, way better than I expect from this house. Great sunny day frag with good lasting power (8h+)

4711 and TF Neroli Portofino had a baby. Luckily NB has lasting power unlike 4711 and Portofino.

Bright, zingy white floral citrus. Soapy neroli served with a small side of jasmine, garnished with fresh rindy citruses. Has some green nuances in there too. Classic clean cologne scent, dries down to a citrus-tinged white musk. Moderately strong initial projection fades over 3-4hr, longevity 6-8hr.

Amazing amazing fresh opening, neroli and citrus. Unfortunately the freshness fades away too fast. Then comes the jasmine dry down, which is pleasant, but pushes it more towards the feminine side.

Smells more like a ladies fragrance than a man's fragrance. Nice with a green citrus vibe. May wear it a few more times to see if the ladies take notice of it.

Similar to Neroli Portofino (perhaps stronger)--very citrusy & semi-aquatic

When I was little, my mother who was a nurse used to bring these huge eau de cologne bottles from work and I remember this being used for many purposes during my early childhood - keeping our home smelling fresh, deodorizing clothes, perfume, air freshener etc. The first time I smelled Neroli Boheme, I was instantly reminded of that tall glass bottle with the pale greenish yellow liquid. My nose picks up very a soft green note like crushed leaves, a very juicy and sour fruity citrus probably lemons, neroli that is slightly soapy and a very clean airy musk. The blend of these notes smells almost identical to what I remember the nameless eau de cologne smelled like. This is not dense like Neroli VIII from Bottega Veneta which I also have and another difference is the juicy albeit very sour fruitiness that VIII does not have. Neroli Boheme to my nose is a lighter, sharper and a more sour scent that will cut through hot muggy days making it a perfect summery fragrance for citrusy neroli lovers. I like this fragrance for nostalgic reasons only to be honest. The performance on this is not the greatest and a departure from what I have come to expect from the Carolina Herrera Confidential collection but better than most summery citrus fragrances. I also think it might be close to Escale a Portofino from the Dior cruise collection but less citrusy sour, strictly from memory. Overall, I don't find Neroli Boheme to be groundbreaking (unlike Neroli VIII) but as a bright, crisp summery offering, it has a unique role in the CH Confidential line up.

It is very similar to Neroli Portofino and a whole bunch of other neroli based fragrances. NP still beats it by scent composition (especially in the opening) but not on performance (this outlast NP by 2-3 hours). However, this is not saying much: both are rather fleeting and neither is a beast in projection nor longevity. Jasmine note makes it smell different from NP, so that's the only way I can tell them apart. I would still resort to Eau de Givenchy which gives you the same vibe for much less...

I'm not a woman, so my opinion doesn't matter, especially in terms of perfurmery. This scent is really fantastic though. It's fresh, clean, but in a soapy sort of way. I'm a fan of Abercrombie & Fitch First Instinct, Dolce & Gabbana Light Blue Intense, recently just sampled like 10 fresh scents and picked up Navus by Navitus in addition to the aforementioned two. While First Instinct has a seductive sort of scent to it, and Light Blue has that fizzy-excitement-sort of scent; navus has a very fresh clean citrus, invigorating sort of vibe. This is like, classy, soapy, fresh, clean, simple. I think it's best comparison would be to Prada L'homme, however L'homme has amber to it, at least to my nose, and this doesn't, so. Prada would probably be more seductive, whereas this would be more respectable; either one should garner compliments, I just have enough amber colognes and there isn't anything else like this that I've experienced so.... This is the next scent I'm grabbing. Which is funny to me because a lot of people recommend CH Men Prive; of which I wasn't a fan of, but this is really different, nice, and again, soapy. It's a safe, clean, unique, scent, and as far as I know, women appreciate a man that smells like soap, so, ta-daa.

This does what a lot of other neroli scents do, but does it better and it lasts. It's much better than Neroli Portofino, especially when you consider the value. You get 100mls of this in an extremely high quality bottle with one of the best atomizers on the market for $265 retail and can be had for just under or just over $200 from discounters. Meanwhile Neroli Portofino 100ml retails for $400, after the recent price increases from TF, in a mediocre bottle with a shitty plastic cap, a standard atomizer and often crooked labels and will still run you $260+ at discounters. Pretty easy choice.
