Sandal Ruby

Warm spicy heaven!!! This perfume is Cinnamon and Pepper all the way, with an amazingly aromatic Sandalwood envelope, and a very lovely Tuberose bottom which is ever so slightly fruity and sweet. By no means the tuberose makes it a floral fragrance, it just blends perfectly with the rest of the ingredients to create one, if not the most, luxurious and alluring warm spicy fragrance out there. Regarding similarities, it does have a certain shared DNA with Blessed Baraka and Psychedelic Love from Initio, although, the first one relies heavier on the musk, and the second one on the Ylang Ylang, while Sandal Ruby is more of a spicy fragrance from the cinnamon and the pepper. Sadly, what this perfume doesn’t share with the ones from Initio is performance, projection is on the lower side of moderate and longevity is only about 4 to 5 hours. Unfortunately, spicy fragrances are never good with performance, unless they include some form of synthetic molecule, which this one doesn’t seem to have. The scent is unisex slightly leaning towards women, in fact it starts a bit powdery and lipsticky, accords which fade in just a few minutes when the spiciness fully kicks in and the aroma becomes its amazing self. It’s preferably a cold or mild weather scent, and definitely wearable on a special occasion. Luxurious, intriguing, and alluring!!

Just received this today after searching for it for a while. Packaging is stunning. I usually don't keep boxes but I'm keeping this one. The red bottle is more beautiful in person. Ita definitely an attention getter. Same for the fragrance itself. At first spray this instantly reminds me of Mancera Instant Crush. But I like this A LOT better. Sandal Ruby has a smoother and not so jarring opening like Instant Crush. In the opening you can smell the spice. On my skin, I feel like I didn't smell the cinnamon too much. The dry down is beautiful. Its soft and kinda smoky without being offensive. It's like a creamy tuberose. Not a fan of patchouli but in here I don't really pick it up... this is very well blended. It definitely unisex but leans feminine. My husband really likes the way it smells on me but says although he likes it probably wouldn't wear it because it does smell more on the feminine side. Price wise - this retails for $265. However, I found it for about $130. So price for me is excellent. Although this was a blind buy for me, I don't think it is a safe blind buy. Which sucks because it is so hard to find in the US.

Another beauty from the CH confidential line. A spiced opening where cinnamon and smoky peppery notes lead the way followed by a creamy tuberose with slightly green nuances, possibly from the geranium. Then, comes the star of the show, a beautiful creamy/milky sandalwood that envelops and softens all the other notes but is grounded in subtle woodiness and a hint of vanillic sweetness in the background. Patchouli is listed as a note but I really can't pick it out. The overall impression is one of contrasts because in the opening you get that spicy hit but then the milky sandalwood and vanillic sweetness that just softens the composition making the whole fragrance just feel and smell just, comforting and cozy, like floating on a pillowy cloud. It showcases all the aspects of sandalwood and tuberose I really enjoy. It's really quite masterful and if I had to pick a fragrance that really surprised me, in the best way possible, and made me fall in love with it from this line it would be Sandal Ruby.

Really good, pretty inoffensive concoction of spices, white flowers and creaminess. It has spicy facets with the cinnamon being definitely noticeable and a slight green touch in the background (probably the geranium). Weirdly enough, the opening isn't the loudest part on my skin, it's sort of muffled for the first 20 minutes, it reveals its power after. Smells very expensive, it's a perfect work/school fragrance because as I mentionned it's rather inoffensive as long as you don't overspray. It's definitely potent, I really love it. Performance is above average, it lasts forever and is pretty strong for the first few hours before giving you a scent bubble for hours and hours. I blind bought this for a very low price (when compared to retail), and I could see this being very worth it at a discounter if you like it. Perfectly unisex.

This is a very sophisticated perfume. My friend had asked me if I wanted to use it while we were at a wedding, and once I tried it, I was extremely surprised. Carolina Herrera fragrances never disappoint, and this one went above and beyond my expectations. I strongly recommend this. I normally don’t like spicy perfumes, nor the notes in this one, but Sandal Ruby is formulated so exquisitely and magically to where it knocked me down to the ground begging for more. 10/10. Though, don’t overspray, even a single spray too much, it starts to smell a bit suffocating and scratchy, and fills your nose with a chemical smell, which is something I commonly find in perfumes with these notes.

This must be quite exclusive as I'm shocked there are no reviews and love for this fragrance! It is a true niche quality juice that does not disappoint with the scent and performance. To me I don't get much of the cinnamon, it's like a tuberose touched over creamy sandalwood and cedar, with patchouli giving the kick. It opens a little sharp, maybe medicinal but quickly turns into the softest velvety warm scent that leans feminine but can be worn by men easily as well. I don’t have enough beautiful words to describe how much I love and appreciate this one ... I know the sandalwood and cinnamon blends have been overdone off late, but I just love and enjoy this so much. It’s woody in the smoothest and most gentle way. The black pepper and patchouli here are surprisingly soft and simply add a layer of sophistication ... Overall, I feel I pick up the pretty tuberose and cinnamon the most. This is super bold and sexy, like a stronger, more niche and unisex version of L’interdit Rouge. You won’t need many sprays of this one. I do get tuberose, but also plenty of spice, woods and patchouli. This is a cold weather scent for evening that isn’t for everyone. If it is your type of scent, you will find it quite addictive.

Lucked out finding a tester for a GREAT price and it did not disappoint. Im a sucker for sandalwood fragrances, and with additions to cinnamon and spice, this made it a successful blind buy for myself. I'm glad its not as overly hyped as other fragrances out there. My personal gatekeeper :)

Sandal Ruby is a spicy tuberose, cinnamon and patchouli fragrance, this is not the typical tuberose scent, the spicy note play very well in this fragrance, unisex friendly, longevity is around 7-8 hrs with moderate projection, super sexy and alluring Sandal Ruby is 9/10

Love this cinnamon-spicy, warm tuberose and sandalwood scent! So mysterious. I dont' think this smells like Initio PL & BB. I had them too. This is my 2022's favorite scent.

This is the best of the best. The very best fragrance from the very best private line. They are ALL standouts, but this is spectacular! Sweet, spicy, and addictive.

I picked up Sandal Ruby at the airport when I went to sample Emerald Musk from the same collection. While Emerald Musk was beautiful, it pulled a little too leathery on my skin for my liking, whereas Sandal Ruby immediately felt more balanced and wearable. The fragrance opens with a vibrant burst of cinnamon and black pepper, creating a warm, spicy introduction. This quickly gives way to a floral heart of tuberose and geranium. The tuberose here is not the usual sweet, bubblegum-style affair, instead, it feels refined, elegant and beautifully restrained. It blends seamlessly into a rich woody base of sandalwood, touched with patchouli and cedar, giving the composition depth, character and just a hint of edge. There is something wonderfully polished about Sandal Ruby. It feels like soft velvet draped over a leather armchair, comforting and sophisticated, yet with enough spice and texture to keep things interesting. Longevity on my skin is around eight hours, with pronounced projection throughout much of the wear. It is a beautiful fragrance that I think will be particularly appreciated by those who enjoy more distinctive compositions. It is not what I would consider a safe blind buy, and I would strongly recommend sampling before committing to a full bottle.

Complete redo: This is very warm and I really smell the sandalwood, though it is not sweet. The geranium, tuberose and cedar make for a very strange combination, not entirely unpleasant but just a little odd to my nose. I initially hated this! Now, it is growing on me. I get wafts of cinnamon sometimes but wish that was more often and more intense. I doesn't seem to last long on me but I can be nose blind (sorry, anosmic). So, all in all, I'd say its a like from me, not a love and I'd say it might be better in winter, as it is currently summer here and it isn't behaving how I would like it to. More masculine but women can wear it for sure. Edit 2: I have to warn you all, this is NOT as safe blind buy! Edit: Oops, forgot to mention the smoky notes. These are not your incensey smoky notes but rather a wood fire type of smoke. The woody notes are not sweet, they are more realistic woody.

Cinnamon galore. Sandal Ruby (SR) is a warm, oriental, & spicy scent. It is dominated by spicy cinnamon and supported by soft sandalwood, & green/floral notes. Spicy, woody, warm. Very long lasting. It reminds me a lot of Mancera Red Tobacco. While not identical, it smells like a flanker of it and that whole group of Red Tobacco smell alike. The weird thing is, this is the third one from the Herrera Confidential line that strikes me as similar to RT; Mystery Tobacco, Bronze Tonka, & now this. I think even Burning Rose had similar vibe but to a much lesser extent. Is most of the line built around the same aroma chemical? Nontheless, SR is a beautiful mature, unisex, cold weather wear. Big "Like"

My first thought was it was overwhelmingly cloying upon first small spray, it then immediately turns into psychedelic love from Initio and it has a likeness to Blessed Barakah. It has that Initio DNA but it’s much sweeter, it’s like a combination of both but with added tuberose and less spice. To be honest, I think it’s so similar to PL that I wouldn’t recommend buying if you already have PL, it’s not very original when you realise the scent is essentially a dupe but for the same cost. It’s very much for a female and colder weather, I wouldn’t wear this in a heatwave or in an office, you will choke people out and possibly yourself!

On its own, it’s a cinnamon sandalwood scent that leans masculine and I don’t love it. But layered with vanilla it is lovely, warm, and cozy. I like it with Kayali vanilla 28.

If you're "sensitive" to modern super-ambers, please skip this (and the entire CH premium lineup with the exception of Cedar Chic). I don't even like to say that I am "sensitive" to them because it kinda makes me sound like a very delicate flower... but I am convinced that a certain percentage of people smell super-ambers/amberwoods much more strongly and/or percieve them differently. Anyways, if you can't stand stuff like anything by Tiziana Terenzi, Erba Pura, Cuir Saddle, Rose Star, Silky Woods, almost all BDKs, most PDMs - don't even bother with Sandal Ruby. It's horrid, and as always, the superambers can survive 2 hot showers and scrubbing with 91% alcohol and Dawn.

I'm a big fan of the Confidential line, I own several and tried almost all of them, but this one is horrid on my skin. It's the odd one out of the entire line. Even from the atomizer smelled plasticky, but thought I'd give it a chance with a full day wear. Screechy chemicals around a plastic heady tuberose with some spices thrown in the mix. Overall, the scent is almost like a burnt plastic, I had to wash it off after a few hrs. It performs better than most from this line though.

I rarely have such a strong negative reaction towards a perfume. Upon first spray there is a blast of sweetness but all in the wrong way- not a clean, cinnamon scent but kind of a dirty bubblegum which develops to wet tobacco with sugar. I managed to stay with it 15 mins before trying to rub it off. It is hard to remove, that’s for your longevity test...

This is not for me, it is truly terrible on my skin. I'm getting plastic almond tuberose and baby powder geranium with sour patchouli? The notes in this that I dependably love (cinnamon, pepper, sandalwood, cedar) provide no spicy woody warmth at all. I much prefer Saffron Lazuli from this line if what you're looking for is something spicy and warm.

Terrible. Has that common scratchiness found in a lot of perfumes these days. Nothing warm here or inviting here.

I received a generous sample of this when I purchased Amethyst Haze at Harrods. It’s honestly one of the worst fragrances I’ve tried. My experience was very similar to dcjimr. Spicy and lots of heavy, screechy aroma chemicals. I tried my best to wait for the dry down but I couldn’t bear it and washed it off. Most of the fragrances in this line are stellar so I was surprised by just how dreadful this one was.

Don't buy their Coffret of miniatures. I did. And half of them were empty, same in the replacement they sent, then they ignored me for weeks until paypal eventually refunded me. Carolina Herrera customer service only reply on trustpilot, so the public think they are reliable. What a disaster of a company.

Horrid, had to wash it off. Another fragrance ruined by scratchy aroma chemicals. I think I'm like the ambroxan whisperer. I can detect it a mile away. This line, Kajal, and Initio all seem heavy on the synthetic molecules.

Too much! Way too strong. Can't breathe when I wear this, and it was only a few swipes across the wrist. The woods in this is too overwhelming, not sexy, it's suffocating!

I was completely wrong about a previous review I wrote about this! I thought I might be the more I kept applying the little splash sample bottle that they sell. This is alot less Tonka than I thought.I wonder if this red bottle & the creamy & fluffiness of this is tricking my mind into thinking Red Cream Soda, Which is bubble gum, & That’s the tuberose doing that But this is far from anything juvenile! Once getting it sprayed one time on each wrist, I’ll say I don’t even qualify to begin trying to even dissect this fragrance any further. The magnetic cap is amazing, The bottle beautiful & heavy, And the pressurized sprayer lets you know this isn’t ever going to be found cheap, Because the fragrance matches the presentation, This was sprayed one time on each wrists after arriving in the mail & 15 min later after opening it had everyone in the room is saying Damn!!! & Really radiates at work with my body heat under my clothes. I’d say, Look at who all really praises this fragrance on here & know that it’ll meet those expectations & then some..Which is what it done for me...I will look further into this collection...For this one is fantastic!!

I purchased bottle of Sandal Ruby as blind buy last year, and it continues to feel like a hidden treasure in my perfume collection. I purchased this miniature splash bottle because all these YouTubers, Mostly females have their eyes rolling in the back of their heads...So after having bought the little mini splash bottle of it, Here’s what I think!!...The best & probably most smoothest cinnamon spice & sandlewood opening! It’s to die for But....I’ve fell for this so many times. I have two bottles of Mugler A taste Of Fragrance which is closer than anything anyone else here says But doesn’t contain tuberose & The tuberose in this is making it different enough to warrent a bottle for me! But unlike others in the commmets, I get a load Tonka as well putting this in a catagory of a lot of others I own I told myself I’d slow down on buying such as Rouge Saray, Oajan, Monkey Special, Arabians Tonka..The list goes on..But, This little splash bottle has me unable to stop thinking about it..Therefore telling me it’s next up!!

An update since my last review on this! I have so much shit it’s crazy & I love this so much That I am going to purchase Mystery Tobacco from this line! From the bottle, The cap, The sprayer & Most importantly the scent itself of course!! I have brought this to work for two fellow co workers who have dove into niche fragrances..& let them spray themselves with this & their eyes roll back in their heads & they are sold & have both bought it!! I have a feeling that this line has been seriously overlooked, But not 100% sure yet This one though is a find!! Totally unisex!! I would have died for this on a woman, But I’ve purchased it & done deemed it something I’m gonna wear a lot in 2026

This perfume is good not great, and not worth the price. I ordered a 5ml decant to experiment with after hearing Veronica Says raving about it on YouTube. Yes it does smell sophisticated and it is a refined pepper spicy woody scent with some light florals for complexity. I can see why people would like this fragrance but I’m just not blown away enough to purchase a full bottle, even on discount. A scent I can live without. If you like pepper fragrances I’d be more inclined to purchase black pepper by comme des garçons which is much more addictive (but also more masculine, whereas this frag is unisex if not more feminine)

If you like sweet spicy warm beast mode fragrances that are sexy and get you compliments look no further! This is my holy grail fragrance. As a fragrance collector I never thought I’d say that! I have so many that I love but none that check all the boxes like this one does. I sampled this on scent split. Then bought a bottle. I am sampling a few of the other ones from her confidential line and I’m very curious how I will like them. Sandal ruby is LOUD. Projects, lasts and is sexy as heck. You will get noticed. This is a confident femme fatale kind of scent.

Got this as a free sample along with some other free samples when I bought Gold Incense from Carolina Herreras website. Although the Confidential line are super expensive if you buy from the website you can get 5 free samples from her Confidential line...so works out at pretty good value. So all I can see about Sandal Ruby is that it is damn potent and dark and seductive. And I'm totally in love with that red bottle colour. Looks so exotic.

Sweet, spiced woody scent. The cinnamon is soft, the tuberose note is not too loud either. I perceive something fruity, like a very sweet raspberry for a few minutes. The drydown is woody and intense. It has a harsh element that burns my nostrils...probably ambroxan? ambretolide? I don't know but it is synthetic and aggressive. I guess it's an ok scent, but not something I desire to buy.

This is an excellent fragrance. Spicy and mildly sweet cinnamon, creamy tuberose and smooth sandalwood. Those are the primary notes I pick up. I haven't really smelled anything quite like this. Something about the way the cinnamon comes across reminds me of Rouge Saray from Atelier des Ors but the fragrances don't smell alike. SAMPLE IT.

Chilies hot patchouli... i get that hot pepper chilies patchouli and lightens bit by sweet cinnamon geranium. I think the black pepper and chilies are kind of overdosed here, while the sandalwood isn't that powerful as the name of the blend. It's a nice fragrance for those who enjoys hot chilies blends.

HOLY GRAIL. This is the best of the best ! Super spicy and potent. Stays on the skin to so long and lasts on clothes forever. Dries down even more beautifully and projects to the roof top. This is certainly a standout perfume. You’ll for sure get noticed in a room. Lovely 🥰

I've had this for a little bit now, and still I'm on the fence about it. It's it beautiful? Yes. Up until the spiciness kicks in. Granted it's not as spicy as Lazuli, but it's still spicy, and I'm not a spicy scent kind of girl. I don't know if I'm going to keep it 😕

This reminds me of both Mancera Red Tobacco and Homme from Costume National. I get more tobacco than sandalwood. There a nice sweetness in this and very well blended very nice. Dont think i would pay 300 for it though.
